copper anti-seize is the best for the O2 sensor threads, they'll come back out a few years later much easier than any other method.. We used it in aviation since forever ago. Great step by step mate, love your work.
Great looking and sounding system , wish I had a Goldie ,because I'd definitely fit that it and the weight saving is amazing . very informative video.👍
Thanks for providing the aims of the project. If for no reason other than to compare them with our own priorities, it would be interesting to rank those aims.
Looks like lots of folk like it,and some are clueless as to what old school,(retro)motorcycles are all about....nice to see someone putting time and effort into making custom bits, those that can, do,those that can't,stand in the way making stupid comments!...nice job matey..bit like the old dunstal mega.
Sounds great I love this bike because its a back to basics bike without all the usual confusing Tech that you just don't need and also with 45 usable horse power all you ever need, this bike in any colour is STUNNING
I would have said that cover that's near the cylinder head keeps the pipe hot for the oxygen sensor????? if the sensor isn't getting that hot wouldn't the ECU weaken the mixture to make it hotter so the ECU would be happy????
Very neat & tidy, great mod. Two issues, video did pick up an increase in level of sound (how much louder is it?) & would this mod void insurance due to the increase in performance?
Very interested in this bike. I think it's what royal Enfield should have done instead of the shotgun. Great upgrade to my classic 500. My concerns is the valve adjustment and oil change seems more involved than the interceptor. Especially if you need shims. Second I would desire same performance as interceptor. By that i mean DNA e kind of peppiness, ability to maintain 65 to 75 long term highway driving.
Certainly looks the part. What is needed now are replacement longer studs and a proper large finned exhaust clamp. Problem is most owners would snap the existing studs in the head when removing them. Edit... Would not be beyond your engineering skills to manufacture a large finned clamp with recessed mounting holes and special nuts with a shoulder to fit. Can the idle RPM be reduced to get a better Bof, Bof, Bof sound ?
Yes it will pass a UK mot as no emission test for bikes, Exhaust just need to be 'not excessively noisy' in the opinion of the tester. I used to be an MOT tester.
Very nice Job, but the new goldies, will never have the noise or sound, of an original! But this has to be a massive improvement, on the factory fitted pipe that makes the goldie sound more like a Honda CG 125.
I have plans for that, but work in progress just now, one idea is to relocate the coolant tank so we could fit a mainstand. But also looking at other options
I can’t help but think the BSA’s and all the other marques of the past slung their engines low to improve centre of gravity. If it looks right it probably is. If it don’t it ain’t. Just saying. Ps I’m an owner of a rotax engined bike and I love it!
Proper British engineering and I hope they have apprenticeship on the go we have here in Northern Ireland at Harland and Wolff ship repair and it is great 👍,, that's a cracking exhaust system,, like their products ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Take this superlight device and use it to spread superlightness to the rest of this overweight barge. Shame on the emptyheaded designers for daring to call this thing a Goldstar.
When is somebody going to tune the shit out of one of these like they were in ‘59 instead of pussy-footing around with standard bars, fuel injection and all that environment crap?
Let's be honest, it's not a BSA Gold Star, it's a poorly jiggly made pile of junk typical of the third world retro counterfeits of a great British long dead marque, aimed solely at sad cheapskate old timers looking to get on the nostalgia wagon.....
I paid 5495 for my bsa new. Right price. Think they overpriced them but a few dealers doing deals. Think the triumph is very nice. Bsa is lovely torquey motor. 40hp from a 400 will be a revvy motor but that's OK.
The Triumph 400 produces its 40 horsepower at 9k rpm, and its appearance is more youthful and catchy, while the BSA is a more classic motorcycle and is more for a measured ride, producing its 45 horsepower already at 6.5k rpm. I like triumph motorcycles, and the speed 400 is also a cool motorcycle, but still these are very different motorcycles, although formally both are classic. And yes, the exhaust is fire! Great view and sound!
I wonder don't you feel guilty selfishly polluting the atmosphere for the sake of vanity "A catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device which converts toxic gases and pollutants in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine into less-toxic pollutants"
Definitely on par with all the coal fired power stations being built in China and all the factories churning out E.V’s. It’s a great mod and makes the bike look more like the original.
I most certainly don’t feel the slightest guilt in anything pollution related. I haven’t had any cat on my motorcycle since 2009 and just to improve the matter, the Lambda is removed as well.

Love these videos. Proper engineering and top quality products.
That's a kick ass exhaust man. Really looks nice on this bike.
Great looking and sounding system , wish I had a Goldie ,because I'd definitely fit that it and the weight saving is amazing . very informative video.👍
All we need now is for the BSA Gold Star to become available in Australia!! How much longer do we have to wait I wonder?
Looks SO much better. The standard one with that weld seam, just looked so naff..........this is better in every way.
Wow, sounds stunning. Job well done.
Looks like a cracking exhaust with a great sound 😊
Might I suggest you consider an alternative clock mount bracket for the bike which angles the clocks back towards the rider more 👍🏻
Thanks for providing the aims of the project. If for no reason other than to compare them with our own priorities, it would be interesting to rank those aims.
That possibly the best upgrade on that bike...👍👍👍
Sounds awesome

You forgot to check the weight!
Sounds good, reset at 24, sound check at 25. Looking forward to a fly by.
This looks so good. I wonder wether you could make some kind of heat exchanger radiator to fill the gap left from the cat?
I would have said that cover that's near the cylinder head keeps the pipe hot for the oxygen sensor????? if the sensor isn't getting that hot wouldn't the ECU weaken the mixture to make it hotter so the ECU would be happy????
I noticed your new system bypassed the CAT. Interesting that it would be legal
Very neat & tidy, great mod. Two issues, video did pick up an increase in level of sound (how much louder is it?) & would this mod void insurance due to the increase in performance?
We don't claim extra power or produce power charts for this very reason
Nice system George, would like to here it under full throttle.
when the weather allows I will do some ride by videos
Excellent.
Now just need something to replace that hideous clipped on "pushrod tube"....
Yes, it looks like a hastily performed after thought.

Great video, very detailed - Loved it!!

Can the idle RPM be reduced to get a better Bof, Bof, Bof sound ?
That sounds quite a bit louder. Nice shiny cases on the bike.
I understood that removing the catalytic box is not allowed by law. Also, are the insurance companies ok with it?
I was just about to ask the same question, what about MOT's in the future?
Just seen someone's answered that further dorwn, No problems!
How does it look with a clubman bar or drag bar, can you show us??
Looks the dogs, it does seem rather loud though, is that just an anomaly of the recording?
Would have looked better with a Gold star type silencer.
Nice setup!
Kind rgds. from Germany,
Robert
I’m sure there will be a power commander out soon for this bike.
Why power commander just a remapping of the original ECU we are after all in the 21st century aren't we
Fuel x now available for this bike
I want one, now, how can I get the bike in New Zealand?
Nice looking bike.
I wonder if that god-awful BSA factory radiator can be replaced with the smaller and less conspicuous radiator from a 2024 Triumph Bonneville.
So what were the dyno figures?
So without the CAT will it pass an mot when the time comes?
Yes it will pass a UK mot as no emission test for bikes, Exhaust just need to be 'not excessively noisy' in the opinion of the tester. I used to be an MOT tester.
do you have a steering damper that will fit continental gt650 please
Very nice Job, but the new goldies, will never have the noise or sound, of an original!
But this has to be a massive improvement, on the factory fitted pipe that makes the goldie sound more like a Honda CG 125.
I prefer the original OEM Exhaust both in looks and sound but each to their own
What can be done about the ugly hole left by the cat?
I have plans for that, but work in progress just now, one idea is to relocate the coolant tank so we could fit a mainstand. But also looking at other options
@@georgemilburn6213 the engine sits so high in the frame do you think that would effect the centre of gravity?
No, but the bike does feel lighter and for the better
Great place to warm your lunch? pasty anyone?
I can’t help but think the BSA’s and all the other marques of the past slung their engines low to improve centre of gravity. If it looks right it probably is. If it don’t it ain’t. Just saying. Ps I’m an owner of a rotax engined bike and I love it!

I superglue the gasket to the pipe
I dont know, how the Gold Star sounds with OEM System, bit this sounds cheep.
sound on video not as real life as was via my lapel mike
Always change the gasket
All you need now is a wiring loom kit to bypass the ECU and a carb kit to make it into a real motorcycle.
man beautiful system but must be the biggest waffle on you tube
Now to get rid of that truck radiator.
Who are "we"?
the development team at TEC bike parts
Better to have just a straight pipe, rockers don't have silencers. By the way, having a lighter exhaust doesn't lower unsprung weight, think about it.
If you listen carefully I say sprung weight
I imagine it would be much easier to accidentally be burnt with this stainless system.
Apparently the Rotax 650 is not easily tuned so not many parts available beyond the usual air filter/exhaust 'derestrictions'.
Crackin accent....
Saving 7.4 kg make the bike feel peppier? Whatever....
Would make a good hardtail chopper, definitely faster then!
Let's be honest, it's not a BSA Gold Star, it's a poorly jiggly made pile of junk typical of the third world retro counterfeits of a great British long dead marque, aimed solely at sad cheapskate old timers looking to get on the nostalgia wagon.....
Or save yourself £2500 and buy a 40bhp 170kilo 400 Triumph.
we have one on order, but not everybody has the same tastes
Sorry about the typo, the Triumph is 179 kilos. Apologies.
@@andysmith2013 In Europe it will be 170 kilos, we don't have the sari guards and other stuff from the asian market

This nonsense is like re inventing the wheel for the sake of it. Theres nothing wrong with the OEM exhaust.
Thank you for your opinion. Unfortunately it's not shared by everyone.
I wonder don't you feel guilty selfishly polluting the atmosphere for the sake of vanity "A catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device which converts toxic gases and pollutants in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine into less-toxic pollutants"
maybe its offset by not using more fuel to carry 7kg around, ive removed around 20kg from my royal enfield
Great Thunberg... Is that you? ;0)
Definitely on par with all the coal fired power stations being built in China and all the factories churning out E.V’s. It’s a great mod and makes the bike look more like the original.

I wonder if he produces a lot of saliva since he swallows loudly all the time, quite disturbing to listen to.
sorry, but I was just getting over a cold.
Sounds and looks great
