- Many songs from the Tamil Films have been ignored periodically for reasons best known to no one. Especially, never or rarely attempted in any reality shows, stage shows or competitions.
When the nation is on a Quarantine, Subhasree Thanikachalam launches this new series.
This series will feature a set of rare songs that are rarely heard, rarely performed and she will also try and give some trivia for the songs.
The songs will all be performed by young singers who came out of her shows, which mainly focussed on old songs. The sessions are fresh and re created. No retakes. One stretch live performance.

During middle school/ high school days, was a fan of his drawings in the weekly magazines. Many of my school notebook margins had drawing attempts inspired by his work. Good to know about his involvement with costume design.

This movie was the first time that introduced me to Western classic music, orchestration, harmony and how a indian melody can blend with them. What a movie what a music. Evergreen. Mahendran never made any demands from Ilayaraja when it came to songs. Ilayaraja was free to run wild with his imagination. He once said that other directors box him by giving examples of other songs but Mahendran never did that. Perhaps thats why Ilayaraaja songs for Mahendran movies are always one his best numbers.
Outstanding western notes and the use of piano, violins and flute. This song is truly international and far ahead of times.
And another aspect is spbs voice modulation. Wonder how he imagined to deliver with that voice timber. Sheer magic this song.

I was about 15 or 16 years when this film released. I remember the only song paruvame. This is a forgotten song, nicely presented and nicely done by all the artists.
Many ppl of your times did ignore this song in favour of paruvame...I dont understand why,..but this song has a stronger hook and tendency to linger much more longer...and its really a magic. Of course of the 4 , 3 songs are out of the world in this movie. But one defnitely cannot go past this song which transports us to a dreamy world. I had to reintroduce this song to many. It was perhaps much ahead of its time !
Took all these songs for granted. Nothing short of a magic from Raaja sir to create song orchestration in a very few hours at the studios. Music simply manifesting like waterfall through him.

One of the Gem of Raja songs, very good singing. Good that these super singers shows doesn’t touch these songs, keep it as a vintage one .
Singers understood the smoothness of the melody and have sung well to match the original, that is the main aspect of this attempt to be appreciated. Hats off. Orchestration excellent, especially the bass line, key board and that solo violin piece, marvelous.
