- For the very first time, cameras are granted access to the inner workings of the kitchen at Singapore's largest women's and children's hospital. KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital produces 2,000 meals daily for their 500 patients and 500 staff. But that's not all!
The kitchen also offers a selection of six different cuisines for patients to choose from and caters to over 30 distinct therapeutic diets that require special care and attention. Genevieve Lee, the runner-up of Masterchef Singapore Season 1, take us on an exclusive look behind the scenes and reveals the intricacies of big-batch cooking in a hospital where each meal must be tailored to cater to the distinct requirements of every patient.

Don't usually type comments, but I'm very impressed by the quality of videos CNA has been producing! So proud of the sg team! Well done!
I agree! Was just thinking the same
I agree!!
Wow i had never seen what happens in a hospital kitchen. Much appreciation to that chef and the whole team. This is very much work. Most appreciated even though am not in that hospital.
I was warded in kkh recently. Their food is hands down soild good !
I really like their food too during my warded days
My wife gave birth to my baby girl a year plus ago in KKH
The food they served are simply amazing. Can’t thank them enough 🙏🏻
I really love all of the quality care that goes into these meals, what a fantastic staff they have. It speaks to the level of detail that appears to be more important in everyday life in Singapore too. You would never ever see this quality of care in an American hospital- my grandmother was even served obviously spoiled food in a hospital here before, as well as continuously received her roommates specially made meals on accident. And was constantly served sugary foods despite being diabetic. Hospitals here sadly seem to be in the business of keeping people sick as long as possible, so they can make more money off of them.
This episode is really good, almost reminds me of the Inside Maximum Security Episode where it was cooked for the inmates but this time round is for the children’s. CNA should make more ‘hospitality’ videos progressively
wow very good documentary of KKH kitchen team (Sodexo) !!
Wow been loving the recent CNA insider videos :)
I was admitted to kkh in May, the fish porridge was super delicious
Very strong people working in this line. I wouldn’t even last one hour in this setting. Salute to all the healthcare workers! Indeed, superman and superwoman running the place!!!!
Best. Stayed kkh for 20 days plus.
Really loved kkh food when i was there, i wish they sold it outside. Thank you forthe tireless work you do kkh food team!
Very interesting and informative episode!!!
I love ethical hardworking professional hospital staff. They cook food production (every meal, everyday) with passion and proud of it. Their planning is accurately measured. If prison meals are as professional in the world. It's Human Right. Government Prisoner Staff just don't treat their work seriously. Often jail mate's meals are lacking passion leaving jail mates hungry and lacking nutrition. Easy way just set aside a small production kitchen for cooking sauces, pack well & stored in freezer room for 1 month's cooking.
Gen, what about the indian menu?
Don't tell me indian women give birth in the buffalo shed.
As for the ginger, clearing excess gas,do you mean, they let out big FART!
thanks for covering this different kitchen setups, this gives us appreciation and idea what effort does it take for each food being served. More power and looking forward for more
Cannot deny their confinement meal is really delicious and v hearty too
Fantastic informative video
Chef Alvin seems very cool and knowledgable!
respect!!!!
Hospitals in Winnipeg, MB, Canada has a lot to learn.
Nice episode!! My son admitted to NUH early year. The food was horrible .. 🤢😔 glad to see KK food was delicous (based on the reviews here!)
Irony, same caterer in NUH 😂
@@higashirinchiah1013 diff chef
if i was at that hospital and they serve breakfast that looks like that i can literally blow my brains out bc it looks better than school food that they serve at the school i am in

well jellybean, i can also hit vo2 max on da treadmill while eatin' so much donuts and rice.
💝😂🤭🤪🌟💎💗
Im so impressed! Is this a private or public hospital?
public hospital
@@John_Smith_86 Very impressive for a public hospital. Canada Public Hospital is allot of reheating and very very basic food. Mainly frozen veggies, instant mashed potatoes, simple pasta, sandwiches, basic fruits like apples and oranges.... much envy to Singapore.
@@dialindsey We charge even citizen patients a high fee, for access to healthcare. Only the poor have their healthcare paid for fully by the government, and even then their healthcare become restricted modestly in scope
Your healthcare is poor quality, but paid for by the State
@@John_Smith_86 True for the most part, one will live and not go bankrupt. Our hospital won't let you die, and will stop there. Good quality of health is up to the individuals pocketbook and knowhow of how to navigate the system.
@@dialindsey Yup. Generally, healthcare comes with its own pros and cons from the various trade-offs. Nobody is gonna get the best and with no compromises. Basically, life in general, haha
Need supper chef too that helps to cook Indomie for patients at 1 am
5:26 the stacking of vegetables bin isn't look right, not looking hygiene after all
Why do they use metal utensil on non-stick pans? It is toxic if the pan gets scratched.
I can definitely work in these kitchen for the chef. HaHaHa. I am a good cook. If Salary is Good. I am good a cooking large batch food. Spegethi & sauce, porridge, stir fried rice, stir fried noodles of all kinds, soup noodles.....stir fried dishes, vegetables etc...
confinement lady? wut? O_o
Those pregnant women are eating good.
The diabetes menu is boring. Confinement Meals got ginseng steam soup. Quality meals. Wah! The food wastage. I always finish all my meals. I really don't like food wastage. If I cook, I will always feel the challenge to make super delicious meals and I would expect people served to finish them. Untouched meals will near zero to my standard. But sick people, you never know when they are sick, they don't feel eating and recovering will be affected slow or fast. A health appetite delicious meal, they will recover fast. Thats the challenging task of a chef.
or patient said no taste cus hospital food lol
Excellent feature but Genevieve Lee’s accent and tone was quite hard to understand. Perhaps she can practice to develop a bit more of a neutral English accent and to speak with clearer ennunciation. CNA and Genevieve have quite an international reach, and I’d personally love to see more of these kinds of quality features.
isfj esfj jobs.
man all that food wastage, if singapore had pig farms, they could totally go to feeding the pigs. They'll definitely eat all of that
Love the meals for doctors but could we reduce the number of plastics. Imagine 100 doctors = 100 plastic meals * 30 days it's 3000 plastic boxes per month
20:21 - not an accurate way to measure food waste due to human memory limitations. Implement hybrid AI night vision daylight camera at food waste disposal station on ceiling (reduce splatter on camera), where camera have inbuilt car windshield wiper with spray to DIY clean dirty camera lense. Hardware is cheap, design is ready tech, but management and patent costs makes product expensive. Simple way is to install a phone camera on a metal height adjustable mount linked to AI app, change the ethnic food plates to different colour (plastic?), the AI app will auto trigger based on 1. colour of plate to know which ethnic food it is or special diet it is, 2. visually log the amount of food waste per empty space left on plate. There's no disruption to the speed or productivity of food waste disposal team. Monetise as hospital sci fi movie or real life?
They know what they’re doing and they’re doing just fine.
Unlike Malaysia, Singapore has definitely succeeded in making a multi-cultural work. We Malaysia have instead become the most racist country in the world 🤣🤣
I learnt to manage my money through investments and it really works for me. They say money can't buy happiness but poverty can't buy anything.!
You're right!! I'm exploring different investment opportunities and would appreciate others' insights on this matter.

Straight up toxic work environment.
What's wrong with her accent.
just like SAF, waste so much food
it would be cool if one of the episodes is SAF cookhouse food (not a guy so I wouldn't know how it's like)
Better then the West.
