this is really a helpful video thanks for posting. not only did I learn how I can check my own fuel system pressure but I learned how I can do it while driving which is something I need to to, my truck seems to not have enough fuel sometimes when under a load this is a good way to see if that is actually the case or not. also I didn't even know that the valve existed.thats a nice quick way to relieve fuel system pressure before changing a fuel filter.
In the inevitable zombie apocalypse i want to mount a flamethrower on my Ranger. This seems a good way to supply the fuel. What could i use for a trigger and ignition?
thank you! I just checked my '86 2.9L, has 10psi with key on, ( increases by 10psi each time I turn key off and on) 30psi while idling and up to 38psi when I rev it ... I have changed the filters and fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pump going out?
My ranger quit runnin like it ran out of gas but I have half tank, what would you suggest I check first? I know very little about working on cars/trucks and am hoping its a simple fix that I can do on my own!
Will a bad fuel pressure regulator cause a misfire? my 87 ranger does not show the gas level so i am wondering if fuel pump and sending unit can also cause the misfire.
i have my98 ranger 2.5L runs and dead after 3 seconds , i did put new filter and new pump and is not pressure in the line after 3 seconds . do you think is the pressure damper ???? please i need help today is 11/6/2018
@It's a me Mario it dosnt have one , is 98 , i did foun the problem one of the little ouse the one connect the pump the the filter was crack and when the punp work it loss the pressure but finaly i saw it and i change it problem solve
I know this is a year old post, but no, that is not the fuel pressure regulator. It looks like one, and it's in the same place as one, but it's not. What it actually is is a fuel dampener which is responsible for preventing fuel pressure pulse (sudden spikes in fuel pressure) in the fuel rail when the Injectors fire. The actuall fuel pressure regulator is mounted on the fuel pump inside the fuel tank on this specific system. Ford moved to the tank-mounted regulator around 1999ish for when they changed from a fuel line return system (which does have a fuel rail mounted regulator which is powered by manifold vacuum), to the return less fuel system where fuel pressure is regulated by the ECU through the in tank unit. Sorry if I busted anyone's balls here but I figured Id like to be helpful even if imperfectly
hi my ford ranger just overhaul and looks like getting to much gas starts like wants to lose strenght and i take off the switch and turn it on again and runs well but start doing it again and switch off and on again syart working well like computer sending lots of fuel to the injector plz give a hind wat more or else can be the problem
Pull the fuel pump relay and start the engine. That'll prevent the fuel pump from running and the injectors will take care of the remaining fuel pressure when you start it after pulling the relay.
What he did in the first video was very dangerous with that gauge in the holes. Number one the gauge has to be a fuel resistant gauge not just any gauge because gasoline will eat out the internals. Number two he has air hose using it for fuel hose, the hose will hold air pressure but again gasoline is a solvent and we'll eat out the inside of the house Superior right idea but not using the right stuff, you have to use high pressure fuel hose with a high pressure fuel gauge, not just any stuff you have around your garage or you will start a fire and possibly get hurt
lol dude , I aint knocking you you gotta do what it takes , but I was curious can you run the hose through the grille , and then up to the window inside the cab were it is closer , im not sure if to long a hose affects the pressure though , JUST AN IDEA
It looked like it was "raining" fuel all over your hood toward the end of the video. Might not be a bad idea to bring along someone to hold the camera and buring a fire ext. too.
Epilogue - After filming stopped Jennie's truck and it's home made fuel pressure gauge erupted into an inferno of flames and it's driver a long list of "Holy shit I'm on Fire" related expletives. Most of the trailer homes in the area burned down if not directly from this immense holocaust then out of sympathies for the fire and the tornado that missed them last spring ....Unfortunately the participants in this video met their demise and are to be interned at a local Darwin Center under the title "Things I wish I 'd thought through before actually doing them" ...Please send donations made "Payable to the Darwin Fund" in lieu of flowers and cards..Thank you.
only fords use the schraeder valve. also, because of the check valve in the pump, if the pressure diminishes after shutting it off, that could be the cause of a cold start problem. great video, thanks for posting!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!
filter has a return line. key on engine off should read 60 psi

Awesome, super helpful think I've got everything I need (old air-comp.) and hose to throw together a guage like this. Thank you sir!
Glad it helped!

Was the the fuel pressure regulator by the Schrader valve?
You don't have to start the truck to check the full treasure just turn the ignition on position
Fuel treasure...guess so? 3000 tach rpm problem spot (while driving) on some fords
My shredder valve thing leak I see gas bubbling up from it is normal?

System to lean code
What do you mean by this, I have basically all of the above problems, plus a system too lean code on my 97
great job on the video

Maybe it's a security system error shutting off the fuel pump after 3 seconds. Look for security system or key trouble lights.

@It's a me Mario we have the same one i dont remember saw the sensor 🤔🤔
can anyone please tell me the name of the part above finger at 1:52 round silver disk with vacuum elbow connector coming out from it thanks
That is the fuel pressure regulator.

@@tjsMAR thanks but I ended up finding that out when I researched more
@@DZ-cb2bg no sweat bro.

Tempuature sensor
Couldn’t you just pull the throttle while parked?
ive never seen anything like that, very neat!
So if the pressure is normal and I want to change the fuel filter, will gas spray out like a water gun? LOL.
Pull the fuel pump relay and start the engine. That'll prevent the fuel pump from running and the injectors will take care of the remaining fuel pressure when you start it after pulling the relay.
Thanks haven’t ever done this before. I appreciate you driving as well so I know what to look for.

haha, thanks!

Wrong, my 95 jeep has one.Im pretty sure old gm use them also.
no rangers were harmed in making this video....
Thank you
Thanks I'll try that!
Explaine that to HP! lol
this is while driving a dangerous idea. Look at the fuel spiling on the hood.
Yep...not good...needs thread on coupler
I don't trust it...
These fords suck
MrTruthAddict Thats a great idea for a T-shirt.
