THis guide helped me defeat this daunting challenge! took me like 3 tries due to bad luck with Gilgamesh (Didn't get Resist up in time) and then Sephy being mean on the 2nd attempt (and I kinda messed up by using Lifesaver too early)
Uhg I’m still struggling. I’m having a hard time understanding how to avoid shadow chain. Just stop smashing buttons and get yourself hit by it so you don’t get wrapped?
This guide worked wonders, thank you! It took me quite a few tries, as Sephiroth wrecked me. A tip for everyone: on Sephiroth, don't cast ATB ward too quickly, as Aerith could get interrupted. You can take a little bit of extra time. If you rush, the party members might be in the wrong places and get interrupted, ruining your attempt. Also, RNG might screw you, but don't give up. You will get a run where everything falls into place. Good luck everyone!
Word everything works in this guide but seph for me loves to do shadowy chains on yuffie or aerith then it ruins my run 😭. but one time I got him to do it to barret and had this MF at half health so it’s definitely possible!!!

Did your fire not hit odin? I cast fire 4 times and it only hit him once. Every other time it flew around him as if in his orbit but never hit him. Is this even possible?? Well I know it is but it never happens in the tutorial

I couldn’t get past his first Octaslash attack with my build or any other builds I tried from TH-cam. But after who knows how many tries (could be more than 100), I used your build, and I managed to complete this challenge with ease on the first try. THANK YOU, YOU'RE THE MAN. @@couchtomatogaming Yes, I followed Optinoob's exact strategy and completed it on my first attempt! Before I came across this video, I was attempting it without casting Manawall on everyone. So, that was the key thing from Optinoob's guide that helped me get through Sephy's first Octaslash attack and manage to defeat Sephy
You have to fight fucking sephiroth too? These challenges took a game of the year and made it unplayable. These people who had nothing to do with OG FF7 ruined its legacy.
it’s not a f2f fight with Sephiroth irl. we fight him in a virtual simulator that Chadley has created for us to analyze our combat abilities and gather data
All i got to say is if this doesnt seem to be working for you, stick to it and practice the setup, cause first i was like, this doesn't work at all, but after a couple goes you figure out each stage and then its a breeze. Truly god strat, i dont see how this challenge is even doable without this. Thanks a million!
I HAVE TRIED FOR TWO WEEKS TO BEAT THIS!!! I tried every build i could, I even took a break and beat the game on hard mode just to do something else. After a few tries with your build I beat it in 7 minutes. THANK YOU!!!!!!
@@Jdeadevil yeah i just beat seventh seal myself. The build he has for this in the video works. the problem i have had is the set up takes so long i usually get screwed over somewhere in the process. Everytime it is usually aerith trying to cast atb ward getting disrupted and screwing up the run because once that happens good luck getting her atb back up without yuffie being able to brumal form it back if the atb ward cast got cancelled. If you get it all off this build melts the summons hp. i never have made it to gilgamesh. i keep getting trolled by odin.

Dude, I cannot thank you enough. I had almost given up on beating this. With your build and strategy, I was finally able to beat this anal discharge of a gauntlet after trying every build I could find and failing the Sim over 100 times. I think what you did different that really helped me the most was explaining how to tackle the fights. Most of the other videos I watched didn't have commentary. Because of you, there's actually hope for getting the platinum. You have my undying gratitude

Tip for other people seeing this When available, use the synergy ability between Barrett and Aerith called "Arcane Blast" which gives them temporary unlimited MP. This can help preserve MP. Especially useful for me since I hadn't maxed out the MP Absorption Materia yet when I did this

How did you keep yuffie alive for more than 20 seconds on the 2nd battle? For me she dies extremely quickly while spamming brumal form. It dodges precisely 0 attacks. I guess I got the one version of the game with broken code.
@@Elon-n9q it can't be helped that sometimes yuffie will get hit even if ur spamming brumal form. That's why you need to build yuffies stats with vit up spirit up materias. Also manawall is a great help as well as pray for barret.

Mr. Optinoob… this was very much appreciated. I finally cleared it after days of trying. For anyone still struggling… make sure you put a good distance with Yuffie away from the others. I tried countless times trying to be as quick as possible and I figured out finally that causes Sephy to do his binding move right away. If he binds Barret first, you can get him in a stun loop before the first shadowy chain and he is never able to bind anyone else. Thanks again for this guide. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

I don't get it either, it's literally just there to waste your time. I think this game might have the worst post-game content I've ever seen if you consider how much time it wastes, how obnoxious it is to complete, and the fact that it's all just recycled content you've already done several times already. Like, at least other games have new dungeons or music in their postgames, Rebirth is just like "fight all of the minibosses and bosses in a row over and over, okay?"

I don’t usually comment on videos, but my guy, you saved my ass. I couldn’t get past Hellions’ Intonement, but using your guides, once I had max materia, just got me through the last 3 brutal challenges. And I did this one in FIVE MINUTES FIFTY THREE SECONDS. Absolutely incredible guide
After fighting the Gigaworm for basically 3 days, i got lucky and got through it. I was woried about going through that type of anguish again but with your guide I got through sephiroth the 2nd time fighting him. He didn't even get off his chains at all through the fight. No octoslash or anything. Thank you so much!
Opposite for me. I got Gigaworm on the first try, but Seph keeps dropping Chains on Barrett first and very quickly before i can even get manawall up about 80% of time. Sticking with it. Just got to wait for the right RNG.
Thanks so much for this guide! Guys, an important thing to remember for Sephi is Aerith HAS to keep him stunned locked with spells (fire, then blizz as the guide says), otherwise he will go right back to his Chain attack. Keeping Aerith from going afk for a couple seconds is more important than focusing on buffs (except for the beginning of the fight of course)
Just beat it with this Strategy! Took me a few tries, but once I got blessed with good RNG, he didn’t get the chance to pull off a single Octaslash!! Extremely useful build. Thanks 🙏

You sir are a true SOLDIER among troopers. I relied on you for Weiss, and came straight here for the Brutals. First try with zero issues, and didn't even have to recast manawall or haste until Sephy. I'll be fully confident going into the next game knowing you'll be making videos.

It is insane how a build like this can make these near impossibly challenges incredibly easy with little effort. AMAZING video, thank you so much for this
I made two small changes that made the difference. A) Drop MP up on Aerith. You do not need it with infinite mana and in stead use a ATB boast materia at the start of every battle. If ATB ward fails at start if battle (e.g. interrupted) you have a 2nd chance/ATB bar to try again and your run is not screwed. Otherwise you are ahead in the engine for Gilgamesh/Sephiroth. B) Also put Barrier and magnify on Yuffi. With Gil/Seph fight you can cast manawall with both or either Yuffi/Barret. You cannot interupt both chars at the same time when casting manawall. Furthermore always use tactical mode to slowndown time and read the moves and the field. You got a loooooot of time in slow mode so use it! Almost never change characters in battle but command their abilities/ spells from your CURRENT (e.g Yuffi) active character. That way you always can go back to brumal form straight away and have less lag between switching sceens/chars. Last don't be scared to go wrong; every fight has basically the same input order. Learn and master it so you get a kind of muscle memory for it. Took me 1/2 a day to get it right.
Is it wise to consider Revival or is it just too slow. I probably need to take another crack but the other fights are child's play I had a close call with Gil because he does something that effective hurts you and that's break the circuit for the set up with his own stun move. If it didn't exist this would be 100% but because he can do this an his damage output it feels like if he hits anyone before Manawall is up you lose. I've read that you can ignore arcane ward. in some of this namely again Seph. I may do it to save one ability cast + bar. Same if Barrett can get 1 ATB with ATB with ward up and choose Faith over Manawall. He can one shot us so it feels like it doesn't matter. And maybe I can try to save barrett's life in the stun so he can set Manawall later or even better get lucky and if he becomes Chain target I get to cast Arcane ward I dunno.
@@Monty2289 I never took any of the revival materias. Sometimes I took a Chakra for healing. Basically if you need to revive you are doomed aince you lose the buffs and engine machine.If takes some practice, vut hey I am 44 years old and I still manage :).
In addition to Point A...I replaced the MP Up with MP Absorption (linked to Lightning and Wind) on Aerith, that way ALL of her elemental spells heal MP. And for the record, I haven't finished this one yet.

You're an absolute legend, Platinum achieved! One tweak I'd recommend, haste is important but you don't need swiftcast. Put swiftcast on fire with Aerith for even quicker destruction.
For being the hardest bout in the game, I completed this on the first attempt with this build. You, sir, are a godsend. I had more issues with the previous bouts than I did here. I find that a testament to the fact that you NEED to take the time and grind out the AP for your Materia. Thank you so much for these guides!
The wait before Aerith casts ATB Ward in the Sephiroth fight is real! I died 3 times in him because I couldn’t get the engine going. When I finally listened too Optinoob I did it the next attempt Thanks Optinoob!

The first 5 Brutal fights I took on myself, learnt and conquered, but after Gilgamesh absolutely ruined me I had no other choice but to look up a guide. Been following you for quite a while (since vampyr) whenever im stuck on a plat, and your just a legend. Really well done easy guides that dont require that much skill and funny commentary so it dont get boring. I did it on my 5th try. Watch sephiroth at half healh closely because after adding fire affinity (Aerith cast her 2nd strike of firaga) he IMMIDIATLY switched to ice affinity so like one ms bevore the firaga would have healed him he switched affinity. Basically dont rely on ice attacks the 2nd half of his health and watch the writing over his head closely
You got me through all the Brutal Challenges, these were incredible guides for some of the most overtuned fights I've ever suffered through! Gil especially feels like it's complete RNG whether he frogs you in the first two seconds. Can't thank you enough!

Since my last comment, I've retried about 5 or 6 times lol and each time Gilgamesh got me but this time he really calmed down compared to the other runs. I absolutely love your guides man, they are so accessible to anyone. I love the way you describe things and make things so much easier. Sephiroth was constantly shadow chaining me but I made sure Barrett was last to get chained, threw Manawall up as quick as I could (even if it was practically near the beginning of it being in effect) and as soon as he Octaslashed me I curaga'd with Aerith. Gave Aerith swiftcast - healing instead of the second fire-magic focus and then removed MP up and HP up and put Magnify and healing instead for the extra heal capacity. Again, I LOVE YOU OPTI!!! @@David-nd4to they 100% do. Like I said, in the run where I got it, Gilgamesh was ridiculously calm. He still attacked, but no way was he as aggressive as he was in the previous runs.
How did you get barret to be chained last? I’m stuck on Sephi still the last fight the atb ward was all the way on the other side. I reliably beat Gilgamesh by having Barrett cast resist first and then haste after the atb Ward Yuffie can still do brumal a handful of times while it’s set up that way
Thank you so much for this guide! I just beat this mission in 6:57. It took me 2 tries. On the first try the only thing Sephiroth did was his chain ability so I had no chance. I haven't played this game in Hard mode yet so I didn't have Genji Gloves for Aerith so I gave her the Space Ranger Medal of Honor. This is a great guide and so are your other Brutal Challenge guides. The Hellions' Intonement and The Seventh Seal were a big help. Thanks again!!!

Yeah for Gilgamesh and Sephiroth if you make ONE mistake it's over, learned it the hard way after many tries with this legendary build. Aerith getting interrupted while casting ATB Ward because I was impatient taught me to be patient and observe carefully lol
You are an absolute legend mate. I was getting walloped in this one but finally managed to beat Sephiroth after a few attempts using your guide. Getting to Seph was a jaunt with your build, and just needed persistence to finally beat that virtual bastardo. I’d almost gone to bed for the night after my third failed attempt but switched my ps5 back on for one final attempt. 2 attempts later I got it lol. Thanks so much my dude. ADVICE FOR SEPHIROTH: Do this to make Sephiroth „fly“ and so he doesn’t really has a chance to chain you: 1. Haste to Yuffie 2. ATB Ward to Yuffie 3. Spam Brumal as fast as you can 4. Arcane Ward to Aerith 5. Spam again Brumal 6. Firaga as soon as Aerith got 2 ATBs full 7. Spam Brumal and repeat 6 When you have time for Barret, than Manawall and so on But it’s important to make Sephiroth fly with Firaga over and over again. This was the game changer for me.
@@sebastianmoreira1 You can perfect block the shadowy chains. Whichever Sephiroths left foot is pointing at, switch to that character and do a perfect block so he doesn't bind that character. You need a level 3 precision defense focus materia as only the level 3 can stop binding attacks with a perfect parry.
Amazing guide, you saved me days and who knows how many hours of this, I did had to try some 5 or 7 times because I kept getting unlucky with Sephirot at the end, but I kid you not I prayed and asked God for a bit of luck and that one time, everything went PERFECT and had no trouble with Sephirot, Thank GOD and Thank you!
GUYS I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE 😭😭😭 I tried like 50 times and EVERYTIME Sephiroth shadow chains me before I can do anything. I get to use haste but after that... nothing. No atb ward, no manawall... he shadow chains instantly and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can't take this anymore 😭😭😭 EDIT: I FINALLY DID IT ❤
@@Allangronkjaer Try focusing on getting ATB ward up first and then do Haste. Once shadow chains starts up, run to where the ATB ward is because everyone in the shadow chains always gets dragged to where the last person remaining is. Rushing to the ATB ward assures that Yuffie can immediately start the ATB spam again.
its rng, you either try to get this strat going and hope he doesnt get chance to mess it up. Or learn to dodge shadowy chain, you have to switch to the person being targeted and either dodge or parry at the right time

Probably took me 10 hours to beat this one using this build. I gave Aerith a revive materia which came in handy on my successful run, and both Yuffie and Barret had chakras which was very useful. Another tip that helped was to only cast barrier (not manawall) for Gilgamesh and Sephiroth, it’s all you need and it’s a much faster cast.
You, sir, are a genius. This Strat requires some grinding and patience to learn but holy cow, there cannot be a simpler method for taking down this juggernaut of a challenge than what you’ve created. I tried for hours yesterday with my Tifa build and only got as far as Alexander dead and Odin at half HP. With this it took 4 tries and 6:40 to clear. And I had to pause on my 3rd try before Sephi and it threw off my rhythm. You are a blessing to this community of already great FF7 fans. Cheers!

Oh my word. I was so intimidated by this challenge and your strategy seemed so complicated. But after a few attempts in learning the rhythm I managed to do it in under 7 minutes. Took Seth on my second attempt at him. Thanks again for the best guides as always.
Died on Gilgamesh once...he just wiped Aerith and Barret before I could do anything. Attempt number 2...SUCCESS! After the stress and pain of the first few challenges, I cannot possibly thank you enough for making the later ones so simple. I beat this one calm, cool, and collected and even managed to sneak Assess into Yuffie's empty slot for Virtual Sephiroth for my Play Log.

if seph chains barret first then just set up firagas and ignore everything else. it completely avoids octaslash and follows the same pattern for the fight

You are an absolute legend. Like so many people, I struggled immensely at round 4. My first time trying this build, I made it to Sephiroth with little difficulty. Just got the trophy!
I've made it to Sephiroth 3 times now. By the time I get haste on Yuffie and the atb ward, Sephiroth already has Barret in shadowy chains so i cant cast manawall. This might be the point where I end up giving up.....
Even with this cant do Sephi. He just messes my team up before i get any chance to setup. I just feel like I'm playing roulette with AI RNG. Cause hes way more tame in the video than has ever been for me.
Same here. The moment I switch from barret to yuffie, he charges her and I can’t build atb. Then he chains someone almost immediately. Then when octoslash is done, if anyone is left alive, shadowy chains immediately again.
I just beat him. After casting haste, before switching to Yuffie, I just let Sephi charge Barret, then I switched. This drew his attention away from Yuffie long enough to build atb. Barret died after octoslash, but I still managed to kill him.
IT WAS SO HARROWING BUT I JUST DID IT! THANKS FOR THE SEPHIROTH TIPS THAT'S ALL I NEEDED! i just wanted to be able to do it before i replay the game on hard mode and you and the creator of the strat helped me out w this build/strat matching my playstyle!

I’ve platinum’d almost souls games , Sekiro etc but this fight right here has me pulling my hair out !!! I can get to sephi but he kills me every time! Even w/ this strategy!! This game is ridiculous

this method got me finally to sephiroth but really what this challenge is is just praying the rng doesn’t make the bosses attack your characters with their stupid one shot attacks before you even set up your stuff on time… majority of tries i’m stuck between sephiroth or gilgamesh and then one random try i die to some garbage attack by bahamut in round 2 like okay… devs really made these challenges the most unfun possible it’s insane
@@reinokumagilgamesh is one of the easy ones. If you get atb ward and resist out in time, should be OK. Sephiroth, the one winged bastard kept stopping Barret from using manawall. You can't survive without that.
I beat it luckily ya sephiroth taking barett from me was horrible because it’s hard recovering from it I’m now on the last mission which is the one with Zack
practice on that fight and "git gud", I'm gated by a 5-10 minute battle with the previous 3 fights. That's what makes these challenges way harder than they normally would be
How to single-handidly create the most dogshit bossfights in existence: 1. Make it so you have to fight 3 waves of 2 bosses in a row even though the combat system was clearly designed around only fighting one. And make the last 2 fights equally as frustrating by giving them random, unavoidable attacks which can one-shot you. 2. Give these bosses a million hitpoints, that way they take forever to kill. 3. Make them spam you with attacks that deal more than half your health and make it impossible for you to use commands since you'll likely be stunlocked or interrupted before you're finished casting. 4. Do everything in your fucking power to make fighting these bosses the most miserable experience on earth and make the most viable method to beating them a literal cheese method which involves exploiting one characters' broken ability. Seriously, what the fuck were Square Enix thinking when they made these? Who the hell thought these fights were acceptable?
Being a huge fan of the OG FF7 I felt somewhat the same at first playing remake/intermission. but once you get the hang of it and know a little how to properly use your abilities and materia it actually becomes a lot of fun imo, especially rebirth is pretty good i think, the fights can be super hard if you don't use the right setup. but as Optinoob proved many times and showed us in his videos, there are ways to make things considerably more easy to a point where it's actually becoming a lot of fun to do these fights
In no way am I disagreeing with you lol. But after the jump from Remake to Weiss in the DLC we probably should have figured they would only make this worse. Wait for part 3. It’s only going to get worse

Absolute zero respect for people's time either... let me make you waste your time for 9 rounds only for the 10th round to have a surprise for you to fucking one shot your party. I finally got the accursed Gottermaderung! Your strategy worked beautifully. Thank you so much. Odin and especially Alexander gave me trouble, but I got Odin incredibly weak before he vanished and by sheer luck, Alexander’s rats didn’t stun lock me out of using my commands. Gilgamesh went down even faster, thankfully. And I was dreading Sephiroth, but he never used Chain Bind. Focused only on Yuffie and got juggled by Firaga (later Blizzaga). I can proudly say I got him on my first try. Still, I question Square’s decision to make these grueling gauntlets and I’m hoping we don’t see them again in the third installment (likely we will, though). Again, thank you so very much
And please dont complain about optional content being challenging. It really makes later games suffer. End game content SHOULD be challenging. I don't want a game where just mashing square sprinkled with a few bravers wins you the credits.
@@ltlsWhatltIs I agree: it’s endgame/post game content and it is supposed to elevate and differentiate itself from the rest of the game. That does not necessarily equate to an artificial spike in difficulty. Yes, call it Brutal, Legendary or whatever you fancy, you don’t need a mode that punishes the player not because of poor tactics and gameplay, but because RNG chose to have the 9th encounter in a 10 round run use a move in the first few seconds that drops 2/3 of your team, with little to no room for preparation. Are these challenges needed in these games. After finishing all of them (and multiple times with different builds and characters)…. No. No they are not needed. If anything, they managed to sway any good feelings I may have towards the game, and soured them. This may reflect my decision in the future to purchase the final installment when it inevitably releases. But who knows, maybe this is Square’s genius marketing scheme: make so many annoying mini games and miserable experiences that our player base will eagerly look forward to the next serving. I’m sure that’ll work out swimmingly for them
@@alanbruce480 I didn't really see any valid points made. This video is only 5 rounds not 10 btw. Also, I find it funny at the end you just end up saying you have a sour taste and then go on to bash the game bc 80% of the mini games are actually optional. All of these challenges are meant for end game....so not sure where you are going with all of your points here. None of these are cheap, its just you need to learn to adapt to enemy patterns. They give you some busted materia that completely trivializes most of these challenges anyways. Not to mention you have fought 98% of these enemies already anyways so you should know what to expect. Do they need these challenges? Of course they do! Why would you complain for end game content that actually makes you use everything in your arsenal? Not making any sense here. Why not make actual valid complaints? Such as being able to solo a V sephiroth so we dont have to go to round 5 just to practice him? How about dropping the watch towers or lifesprings as a open world chore? How about materia loadouts so we dont have to keep swapping them one by one? How about instead of complaining about the 80% optional mini games you can completely ignore (which most were great outside of gears and gambits and the choco flying imo) you make a point about why load times in the open world take 3 seconds, whereas the sim takes 10 seconds? These points are actual problems, not the challenging sims that give you a sour taste in your mouth just because you struggled with a challenge. You see, there are more valid weaknesses in this game VS what you are complaining about. These challenges are fantastic outside of the same old boring looking sim world they force you in. Just because you have to follow a guide doesnt change anything I have said. But whatever, if you play a "brutal" challenge then expect it to be brutal. I don't want peeps like you pushing for end game content that poses a actual challenge to be removed from games.

This has got to one of the best guides that I have ever seen. It only took me 2 attempts after I got my materia leveled up
I concur. Even other similar set ups if you messed up you have to restart. This has a lot of recovery options and allows a few mistakes.
THis guide helped me defeat this daunting challenge! took me like 3 tries due to bad luck with Gilgamesh (Didn't get Resist up in time) and then Sephy being mean on the 2nd attempt (and I kinda messed up by using Lifesaver too early)

This guide worked wonders, thank you! It took me quite a few tries, as Sephiroth wrecked me. A tip for everyone: on Sephiroth, don't cast ATB ward too quickly, as Aerith could get interrupted. You can take a little bit of extra time. If you rush, the party members might be in the wrong places and get interrupted, ruining your attempt.
Also, RNG might screw you, but don't give up. You will get a run where everything falls into place. Good luck everyone!

Word everything works in this guide but seph for me loves to do shadowy chains on yuffie or aerith then it ruins my run 😭. but one time I got him to do it to barret and had this MF at half health so it’s definitely possible!!!
This is why some of these challenges are just bad. They bring an almost perfect game down.

Did your fire not hit odin? I cast fire 4 times and it only hit him once. Every other time it flew around him as if in his orbit but never hit him. Is this even possible?? Well I know it is but it never happens in the tutorial

I couldn’t get past his first Octaslash attack with my build or any other builds I tried from TH-cam. If you're still stuck on sephiroth try to cast firaga after you set up yuffie and aerith before octoslash that's what I did and got super lucky

So, that was the key thing from Optinoob's guide that helped me get through Sephy's first Octaslash attack and manage to defeat Sephy

You only can if the RNG doesn't screw you. It's only even possible for about 1/5 players. FF7 legacy destroyed with this godawful game.
All i got to say is if this doesnt seem to be working for you, stick to it and practice the setup, cause first i was like, this doesn't work at all, but after a couple goes you figure out each stage and then its a breeze. Truly god strat, i dont see how this challenge is even doable without this. Thanks a million!

@@Jdeadevil yeah i just beat seventh seal myself. The build he has for this in the video works. the problem i have had is the set up takes so long i usually get screwed over somewhere in the process. Everytime it is usually aerith trying to cast atb ward getting disrupted and screwing up the run because once that happens good luck getting her atb back up without yuffie being able to brumal form it back if the atb ward cast got cancelled. If you get it all off this build melts the summons hp. i never have made it to gilgamesh. i keep getting trolled by odin.

With your build and strategy, I was finally able to beat this anal discharge of a gauntlet after trying every build I could find and failing the Sim over 100 times. I think what you did different that really helped me the most was explaining how to tackle the fights. Most of the other videos I watched didn't have commentary. Tip for other people seeing this
When available, use the synergy ability between Barrett and Aerith called "Arcane Blast" which gives them temporary unlimited MP.
This can help preserve MP. Especially useful for me since I hadn't maxed out the MP Absorption Materia yet when I did this

How did you keep yuffie alive for more than 20 seconds on the 2nd battle? For me she dies extremely quickly while spamming brumal form. It dodges precisely 0 attacks. I guess I got the one version of the game with broken code.
@@Elon-n9q it can't be helped that sometimes yuffie will get hit even if ur spamming brumal form. That's why you need to build yuffies stats with vit up spirit up materias. Also manawall is a great help as well as pray for barret.

Mr. Optinoob… this was very much appreciated. I finally cleared it after days of trying. For anyone still struggling… make sure you put a good distance with Yuffie away from the others. I tried countless times trying to be as quick as possible and I figured out finally that causes Sephy to do his binding move right away. If he binds Barret first, you can get him in a stun loop before the first shadowy chain and he is never able to bind anyone else. Thanks again for this guide. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

I don't get it either, it's literally just there to waste your time. I think this game might have the worst post-game content I've ever seen if you consider how much time it wastes, how obnoxious it is to complete, and the fact that it's all just recycled content you've already done several times already. Like, at least other games have new dungeons or music in their postgames, Rebirth is just like "fight all of the minibosses and bosses in a row over and over, okay?"

I don’t usually comment on videos, but my guy, you saved my ass. I couldn’t get past Hellions’ Intonement, but using your guides, once I had max materia, just got me through the last 3 brutal challenges. And I did this one in FIVE MINUTES FIFTY THREE SECONDS. Absolutely incredible guide
The trick to Hellions is to use Stop on all of the enemies. Then kill the King Tonberry first.

After fighting the Gigaworm for basically 3 days, i got lucky and got through it. I was woried about going through that type of anguish again but with your guide I got through sephiroth the 2nd time fighting him. He didn't even get off his chains at all through the fight. No octoslash or anything. Thank you so much!

Opposite for me. I got Gigaworm on the first try, but Seph keeps dropping Chains on Barrett first and very quickly before i can even get manawall up about 80% of time. Sticking with it. Just got to wait for the right RNG.

Thanks so much for this guide! Guys, an important thing to remember for Sephi is Aerith HAS to keep him stunned locked with spells (fire, then blizz as the guide says), otherwise he will go right back to his Chain attack. Keeping Aerith from going afk for a couple seconds is more important than focusing on buffs (except for the beginning of the fight of course)

It is insane how a build like this can make these near impossibly challenges incredibly easy with little effort. AMAZING video, thank you so much for this
I made two small changes that made the difference.
A) Drop MP up on Aerith. You do not need it with infinite mana and in stead use a ATB boast materia at the start of every battle. If ATB ward fails at start if battle (e.g. interrupted) you have a 2nd chance/ATB bar to try again and your run is not screwed. Otherwise you are ahead in the engine for Gilgamesh/Sephiroth.
B) Also put Barrier and magnify on Yuffi. With Gil/Seph fight you can cast manawall with both or either Yuffi/Barret. You cannot interupt both chars at the same time when casting manawall.
Furthermore always use tactical mode to slowndown time and read the moves and the field. You got a loooooot of time in slow mode so use it!
Almost never change characters in battle but command their abilities/ spells from your CURRENT (e.g Yuffi) active character. That way you always can go back to brumal form straight away and have less lag between switching sceens/chars.
Last don't be scared to go wrong; every fight has basically the same input order. Learn and master it so you get a kind of muscle memory for it.
Took me 1/2 a day to get it right.
Is it wise to consider Revival or is it just too slow. I probably need to take another crack but the other fights are child's play I had a close call with Gil because he does something that effective hurts you and that's break the circuit for the set up with his own stun move. If it didn't exist this would be 100% but because he can do this an his damage output it feels like if he hits anyone before Manawall is up you lose.
I've read that you can ignore arcane ward. in some of this namely again Seph. I may do it to save one ability cast + bar. Same if Barrett can get 1 ATB with ATB with ward up and choose Faith over Manawall. He can one shot us so it feels like it doesn't matter. And maybe I can try to save barrett's life in the stun so he can set Manawall later or even better get lucky and if he becomes Chain target I get to cast Arcane ward

@@Monty2289 I never took any of the revival materias. Sometimes I took a Chakra for healing. Basically if you need to revive you are doomed aince you lose the buffs and engine machine.If takes some practice, vut hey I am 44 years old and I still manage :).
You need to change empowerment to barrier. Other than that, great idea!

In addition to Point A...I replaced the MP Up with MP Absorption (linked to Lightning and Wind) on Aerith, that way ALL of her elemental spells heal MP.

You're an absolute legend, Platinum achieved! One tweak I'd recommend, haste is important but you don't need swiftcast. Put swiftcast on fire with Aerith for even quicker destruction.
For being the hardest bout in the game, I completed this on the first attempt with this build. You, sir, are a godsend. I had more issues with the previous bouts than I did here. I find that a testament to the fact that you NEED to take the time and grind out the AP for your Materia. Thank you so much for these guides!

The first 5 Brutal fights I took on myself, learnt and conquered, but after Gilgamesh absolutely ruined me I had no other choice but to look up a guide. Been following you for quite a while (since vampyr) whenever im stuck on a plat, and your just a legend. Really well done easy guides that dont require that much skill and funny commentary so it dont get boring.
I did it on my 5th try. Watch sephiroth at half healh closely because after adding fire affinity (Aerith cast her 2nd strike of firaga) he IMMIDIATLY switched to ice affinity so like one ms bevore the firaga would have healed him he switched affinity.
Basically dont rely on ice attacks the 2nd half of his health and watch the writing over his head closely
You got me through all the Brutal Challenges, these were incredible guides for some of the most overtuned fights I've ever suffered through! Gil especially feels like it's complete RNG whether he frogs you in the first two seconds. Can't thank you enough!

Since my last comment, I've retried about 5 or 6 times lol and each time Gilgamesh got me but this time he really calmed down compared to the other runs.
I absolutely love your guides man, they are so accessible to anyone. I love the way you describe things and make things so much easier. Sephiroth was constantly shadow chaining me but I made sure Barrett was last to get chained, threw Manawall up as quick as I could (even if it was practically near the beginning of it being in effect) and as soon as he Octaslashed me I curaga'd with Aerith.
Gave Aerith swiftcast - healing instead of the second fire-magic focus and then removed MP up and HP up and put Magnify and healing instead for the extra heal capacity.

@@David-nd4to they 100% do. Like I said, in the run where I got it, Gilgamesh was ridiculously calm. He still attacked, but no way was he as aggressive as he was in the previous runs.

How did you get barret to be chained last? I’m stuck on Sephi still the last fight the atb ward was all the way on the other side. I reliably beat Gilgamesh by having Barrett cast resist first and then haste after the atb Ward Yuffie can still do brumal a handful of times while it’s set up that way
Thank you so much for this guide! I just beat this mission in 6:57. It took me 2 tries. On the first try the only thing Sephiroth did was his chain ability so I had no chance. I haven't played this game in Hard mode yet so I didn't have Genji Gloves for Aerith so I gave her the Space Ranger Medal of Honor. This is a great guide and so are your other Brutal Challenge guides. The Hellions' Intonement and The Seventh Seal were a big help. Thanks again!!!
about 200 hours into the game, trial and error and finally i decided to see tutorial pros like yours. only took 2 tries and best of all, total time to beat the final challege is only 14-15 minutes.

Yeah for Gilgamesh and Sephiroth if you make ONE mistake it's over, learned it the hard way after many tries with this legendary build. Aerith getting interrupted while casting ATB Ward because I was impatient taught me to be patient and observe carefully lol

You are an absolute legend mate. I was getting walloped in this one but finally managed to beat Sephiroth after a few attempts using your guide. Getting to Seph was a jaunt with your build, and just needed persistence to finally beat that virtual bastardo. I’d almost gone to bed for the night after my third failed attempt but switched my ps5 back on for one final attempt. 2 attempts later I got it lol. Thanks so much my dude. If you're going for Weiss and Top Secrets, definitely check out Opti's guides on those too. He made things so much bloody easier and his guide actually got me through them. Easily the best guides on YT, he explains everything properly and never fails to get me through these. Wouldn't go to anyone else for them!
ADVICE FOR SEPHIROTH:
Do this to make Sephiroth „fly“ and so he doesn’t really has a chance to chain you:
1. Haste to Yuffie
2. ATB Ward to Yuffie
3. Spam Brumal as fast as you can
4. Arcane Ward to Aerith
5. Spam again Brumal
6. Firaga as soon as Aerith got 2 ATBs full
7. Spam Brumal and repeat 6
When you have time for Barret, than Manawall and so on
But it’s important to make Sephiroth fly with Firaga over and over again. This was the game changer for me.
So basically try to get it going before he can even shadowy strike your characters?
@@fall-neckthetallneck2977 exactly. He shadow chained Barret. But that was okay. You basically need only Aerith and Yuffie to beat him.
The problem is, if RNG catch Aerith first, she will be interrupted , she wont spam ATB area and everything goes south
@@sebastianmoreira1 You can perfect block the shadowy chains. Whichever Sephiroths left foot is pointing at, switch to that character and do a perfect block so he doesn't bind that character. You need a level 3 precision defense focus materia as only the level 3 can stop binding attacks with a perfect parry.

That's the best strategy here. You only need some luck to Barret get chained first.

Amazing guide, you saved me days and who knows how many hours of this, I did had to try some 5 or 7 times because I kept getting unlucky with Sephirot at the end, but I kid you not I prayed and asked God for a bit of luck and that one time, everything went PERFECT and had no trouble with Sephirot, Thank GOD and Thank you!
GUYS I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE 😭😭😭 I tried like 50 times and EVERYTIME Sephiroth shadow chains me before I can do anything. I get to use haste but after that... nothing. No atb ward, no manawall... he shadow chains instantly and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can't take this anymore 😭😭😭

@@Allangronkjaer Try focusing on getting ATB ward up first and then do Haste. Once shadow chains starts up, run to where the ATB ward is because everyone in the shadow chains always gets dragged to where the last person remaining is. Rushing to the ATB ward assures that Yuffie can immediately start the ATB spam again.

its rng, you either try to get this strat going and hope he doesnt get chance to mess it up. Or learn to dodge shadowy chain, you have to switch to the person being targeted and either dodge or parry at the right time
It works just keep trying ! Some Rng involved I guess. I was able to get Aerith going with only Barret in chains before he even did Octoslash once.

Probably took me 10 hours to beat this one using this build. I gave Aerith a revive materia which came in handy on my successful run, and both Yuffie and Barret had chakras which was very useful. Another tip that helped was to only cast barrier (not manawall) for Gilgamesh and Sephiroth, it’s all you need and it’s a much faster cast.
You, sir, are a genius. This Strat requires some grinding and patience to learn but holy cow, there cannot be a simpler method for taking down this juggernaut of a challenge than what you’ve created. I tried for hours yesterday with my Tifa build and only got as far as Alexander dead and Odin at half HP. With this it took 4 tries and 6:40 to clear. And I had to pause on my 3rd try before Sephi and it threw off my rhythm. You are a blessing to this community of already great FF7 fans. Cheers!

Oh my word. I was so intimidated by this challenge and your strategy seemed so complicated. But after a few attempts in learning the rhythm I managed to do it in under 7 minutes. Took Seth on my second attempt at him. Thanks again for the best guides as always.

Died on Gilgamesh once...he just wiped Aerith and Barret before I could do anything. Attempt number 2...SUCCESS! After the stress and pain of the first few challenges, I cannot possibly thank you enough for making the later ones so simple. I beat this one calm, cool, and collected and even managed to sneak Assess into Yuffie's empty slot for Virtual Sephiroth for my Play Log.

@@macmittens5475you don’t need to assess him for platinum in Rebirth. It just completes the catagory in your play log.

if seph chains barret first then just set up firagas and ignore everything else. it completely avoids octaslash and follows the same pattern for the fight

You are an absolute legend. Like so many people, I struggled immensely at round 4. My first time trying this build, I made it to Sephiroth with little difficulty. Just got the trophy!
There’s absolutely no way. Sephiroth is just completely broken. Used Shadowy Chains off the bat and doesn’t let up.
I've made it to Sephiroth 3 times now. By the time I get haste on Yuffie and the atb ward, Sephiroth already has Barret in shadowy chains so i cant cast manawall. This might be the point where I end up giving up.....
Even with this cant do Sephi. He just messes my team up before i get any chance to setup. I just feel like I'm playing roulette with AI RNG. Cause hes way more tame in the video than has ever been for me.
Same here. The moment I switch from barret to yuffie, he charges her and I can’t build atb. Then he chains someone almost immediately. Then when octoslash is done, if anyone is left alive, shadowy chains immediately again.
I just beat him. After casting haste, before switching to Yuffie, I just let Sephi charge Barret, then I switched. This drew his attention away from Yuffie long enough to build atb. Barret died after octoslash, but I still managed to kill him.

For the last one it only took me 4 tries, after gilgamesh destroyed me on the first one and sephiroth on the other 2. Now into the legendary ones. Thank you so much.

Soul's games are actual fights and well designed bosses with actual patterns...FF7 fights are gimmicks.
I breeze through all 4 rounds, but sephiroth always wrecks me, im not able to put down half od the kills because he shadow chains me, im so tilted right now

this method got me finally to sephiroth but really what this challenge is is just praying the rng doesn’t make the bosses attack your characters with their stupid one shot attacks before you even set up your stuff on time… majority of tries i’m stuck between sephiroth or gilgamesh and then one random try i die to some garbage attack by bahamut in round 2 like okay… devs really made these challenges the most unfun possible it’s insane

@@reinokumagilgamesh is one of the easy ones. If you get atb ward and resist out in time, should be OK. Sephiroth, the one winged bastard kept stopping Barret from using manawall. You can't survive without that.
I beat it luckily ya sephiroth taking barett from me was horrible because it’s hard recovering from it I’m now on the last mission which is the one with Zack
practice on that fight and "git gud", I'm gated by a 5-10 minute battle with the previous 3 fights. That's what makes these challenges way harder than they normally would be
How to single-handidly create the most dogshit bossfights in existence:
1. Make it so you have to fight 3 waves of 2 bosses in a row even though the combat system was clearly designed around only fighting one. And make the last 2 fights equally as frustrating by giving them random, unavoidable attacks which can one-shot you.
2. Give these bosses a million hitpoints, that way they take forever to kill.
3. Make them spam you with attacks that deal more than half your health and make it impossible for you to use commands since you'll likely be stunlocked or interrupted before you're finished casting.
4. Do everything in your fucking power to make fighting these bosses the most miserable experience on earth and make the most viable method to beating them a literal cheese method which involves exploiting one characters' broken ability.
Seriously, what the fuck were Square Enix thinking when they made these? Who the hell thought these fights were acceptable?
Being a huge fan of the OG FF7 I felt somewhat the same at first playing remake/intermission. but once you get the hang of it and know a little how to properly use your abilities and materia it actually becomes a lot of fun imo, especially rebirth is pretty good i think, the fights can be super hard if you don't use the right setup. but as Optinoob proved many times and showed us in his videos, there are ways to make things considerably more easy to a point where it's actually becoming a lot of fun to do these fights
You are missing the camera, they pulled the camera up from clouds ass but 3 isnt enought mabe 5 or 6, i cant see jack shit in this game

These challenges require luck at times which is kinda annoying.
I finally got the accursed Gottermaderung! Your strategy worked beautifully. Thank you so much. Odin and especially Alexander gave me trouble, but I got Odin incredibly weak before he vanished and by sheer luck, Alexander’s rats didn’t stun lock me out of using my commands.
Gilgamesh went down even faster, thankfully.
And I was dreading Sephiroth, but he never used Chain Bind. Focused only on Yuffie and got juggled by Firaga (later Blizzaga). I can proudly say I got him on my first try.
Still, I question Square’s decision to make these grueling gauntlets and I’m hoping we don’t see them again in the third installment (likely we will, though).

Complains a challenge is brutal when it literally says "brutal".
And please dont complain about optional content being challenging. It really makes later games suffer. End game content SHOULD be challenging. I don't want a game where just mashing square sprinkled with a few bravers wins you the credits.
@@ltlsWhatltIs I agree: it’s endgame/post game content and it is supposed to elevate and differentiate itself from the rest of the game.
That does not necessarily equate to an artificial spike in difficulty. Yes, call it Brutal, Legendary or whatever you fancy, you don’t need a mode that punishes the player not because of poor tactics and gameplay, but because RNG chose to have the 9th encounter in a 10 round run use a move in the first few seconds that drops 2/3 of your team, with little to no room for preparation.
Are these challenges needed in these games. After finishing all of them (and multiple times with different builds and characters)…. No. No they are not needed. If anything, they managed to sway any good feelings I may have towards the game, and soured them. This may reflect my decision in the future to purchase the final installment when it inevitably releases.
But who knows, maybe this is Square’s genius marketing scheme: make so many annoying mini games and miserable experiences that our player base will eagerly look forward to the next serving.

I didn't really see any valid points made. This video is only 5 rounds not 10 btw.
Also, I find it funny at the end you just end up saying you have a sour taste and then go on to bash the game bc 80% of the mini games are actually optional.
All of these challenges are meant for end game....so not sure where you are going with all of your points here. None of these are cheap, its just you need to learn to adapt to enemy patterns. They give you some busted materia that completely trivializes most of these challenges anyways. Not to mention you have fought 98% of these enemies already anyways so you should know what to expect.
Do they need these challenges? Of course they do! Why would you complain for end game content that actually makes you use everything in your arsenal? Not making any sense here.
Why not make actual valid complaints? Such as being able to solo a V sephiroth so we dont have to go to round 5 just to practice him? How about dropping the watch towers or lifesprings as a open world chore? How about materia loadouts so we dont have to keep swapping them one by one? How about instead of complaining about the 80% optional mini games you can completely ignore (which most were great outside of gears and gambits and the choco flying imo) you make a point about why load times in the open world take 3 seconds, whereas the sim takes 10 seconds? These points are actual problems, not the challenging sims that give you a sour taste in your mouth just because you struggled with a challenge.
You see, there are more valid weaknesses in this game VS what you are complaining about. These challenges are fantastic outside of the same old boring looking sim world they force you in. Just because you have to follow a guide doesnt change anything I have said. But whatever, if you play a "brutal" challenge then expect it to be brutal. I don't want peeps like you pushing for end game content that poses a actual challenge to be removed from games.
