Does his ultimate ability like actually do anything. But I also notice that Focused Shot is being ignore even though you ideally want to use it when you pressure
@@Monty2289 His lifeblood cannon does about 45% more damage than 2 ATB charges of point blank, and you can do it from very far away and it can't miss, which is something that often happens with point blank because it has such small range and barret runs really slow. But of course it comes at the cost of half your current health, which is dangerous in hard mode, but there's a way you could work around it. Iron skin lowers it to something like 38% of your health, and if you use manawall, the one that halves magic damage, it lowers it even more, making lifeblood cannon only use about 17.5% of your health. So you can do a very tanky build that makes it more safe to use lifeblood cannon.
I had to modify this one because my timing just sucks on the turtle. I ended up going with fafnir rifle instead of Gatling gun, linked fire and ice elemental to it, fire elemental armor, then fire linked to magic efficiency, mp absorb, and hp absorb, then first strike, magic up, enemy skill, and atb boost. You can pretty much spam Fira that way (which heals you) and stay at full mp. The interesting thing about that last fight is the hell rider uses reflect, so just cast fire or Fira when you need heals (keep in mind your mp will deplete eventually here because you’re not doing damage). Use physical attacks to eventually stagger him and save your limit breaks and/or ice magic for that time.
So for anyone still struggling with the turtle I suggest putting Hp absorb instead of mp absorb since we only use mp on round 4, also to increase your defense i put 2 vitality up instead of mp up. Highly recommend using these, i won on first try!

Great guide as always. Because I suck at perfect blocking I dropped Precision Defense Focus and added HP Absorb (and moved HP Absorb + Enemy Skill to a linked slot). I then cast Plasma Discharge after Steel(fore)skin in the rotation each fight. It didn't do much for the turtle (as it tends to stay our of range) but on the others I was getting heals constantly.
I first tried this. Awesome build as always. Had the most trouble with the turtle, but it wasn't close any time. My last fight was unusual clean for my standards. I'm so glad that all enemies only aim for Barret's foreskin otherwise we would have a much harder time
Oh man I'm so glad you mentioned having guides for Remake as well. These guides have REALLY helped me towards Rebirth Plat. Only 8 more Legendary Sim fights. I never got Plat for Remake (never even did Hard Mode for Remake). So I plan to go back and do that after Rebirth Plat. You're awesome. Thanks for all the hard work.
Opti's guides for Top Secrets and Weiss are incredible. He's absolutely the best when it comes to this sort of stuff! He got me through Top Secrets with Cloud and co as well as Weiss pretty easy.
I dont remember using a guide for remake hard mode, i just kinda struggled through, this guy is an absolutely life saver, takes the guesswork and trial and error out of the game, just got the gotterdammerung following his videos, cant go wrong, im very close to platinum now thanks to him

Thank you for all your guides, really helped me massively to beat the the game! Just a thought, Magic Efficiency is better than MP Absorb because you lose less mp using it (ME : Fira 10 mp --> 5 mp, 5 mp lost // MP Ab : Fira 10 mp restore 3 mp, 7 mp lost)

Thanks man, your guides have been a life safer for hard mode. If anyone is having problems against in round 4 like I did, I traded Chakra for ATB Boost for this challenge and it helped a ton against the turtle cause I was able to immediately use Fira the Steel Skin at the start. If you need health against Hell Rider II, then take advantage of his reflect by using Fira to heal you instead of Chakra.
I didn't block anything and still got it done first try! and my materia are not levelled! Amazing!!! Thank you!!! :) can't wait to finish all the challenges!!! One more step towards the platinum!!!!

Great guide again, many thanks. First three rounds were an absolute cake walk. Round 4 was tricky but got past it once I'd got a good rhythm going. Final boss took two attempts but far easier than the Adamtoise for sure!

Using your strategy, I took 3 hours to get through this one. The only hiccup for me was the adamantoid in round 4. He killed me over and over again. My first time killing adamantoid, I made sure not to need to again by winning round 5, 1st time.
Amazing guide again. Your method for the turtle made it so easy. I somehow managed to get a crazy amount of perfect parries in the last fight, but I'm glad I saw you take those hits so it wasn't as threatening. Perfect guide again mate!

Then, I hit a wall, and when searching for guidance, most of the vids I found didn't really help. Your vids got me through the rest with relative ease and far less time than my previous experiences. Now, I'm working on the solo challenges, and, so far, they are a breeze thanks to you. Thank you for sparing me from all the headaches, frustration, and time I would be spending without your help. I'd eventually get through it on my own with just sheer persistence, trial and error, and experimentation. If you're having trouble with MP for healing and to cast fira, I highly recommend using the barrage blaster weapon, as I believe that's the only weapon that has the trade-off weapon skill, which recovers MP from taking enough damage. About every 330 damage you take recovers 1 MP, but each individual hit has to deal at least 330 damage otherwise it will not recover MP. So if you take 660 you'll heal 2 MP at once, and 990 damage will heal 3 MP.

idk why im losing MP faster with the turtle fight, until i swapped 2 defense materia with fire + magic efficiency materia to reduce fire cost, then beat the challenge in 1 go. thanks for the great guide~~😍
Since Barret's Fira does relatively little damage, a max Magic Efficiency Materia would be preferable to MP Absorption. It looked like the MP being absorbed was equivalent to a 2-star Magic Efficiency Materia.

Although it took about 2 hours of trying, I was able to finally beat this Legendary Bout for Barret thanks to your guide. I really had to get used to the Adamantoise attacks to be able to block these to build ATB. Then I just followed your instructions to do Fira whenever the Adamantoise is not pressured then go from there. I wasn't as worried or stressed for this challenge compared to the Brutal Challenges specially the last one. In any case, on to Tifa's challenge. Will review your videos first and then follow the script! And once again, THANK YOU!
Bro you’re the fking goat. Your builds are amazing. Passed this easy on Barret where as in cloud I was on it for at least 3-5 hours until I saw your build in did it within a hour.
I booked marked all of these guides and the playlist. I don’t have the patience to do all of these bouts in 1 sitting. So I do 1-2 and then I play some Octopath Traveler 2.
Another challenge down, thanks for the amazing guide! Crazy that after all those tough Brutal Callenges & Cloud's, this was a one-timer! Great to be stress-free. As I suck at timing blocks, I also subbed out Precision Block, and went with HP Absorb + Enemy Skill, and used Plasma Discharge after Steel(Fore)skin in the rotation. Amazing work as always! On to Tifa this weekend.....
Thank you again! I am not very good at blocking so I switched to barrage blaster little less damage and swapped out chakra and enemy skill for healing plus swiftcast. It has less damage but also has overcharge protection but also has trade off so when I was getting slapped around I was getting my mp back and healing for full health. This was helpful because while it was nice to try the double chakra thing it was hard to sometimes generate the full atb being low in health. For the turtle using turbulent spirit while it’s a short lived one time ability was useful for atb generation to regularly pressure. On to your next video!
Thanks for this. I had to make some changes to the materia and instead of Chakra I had cure. Round 4 was still wiping me out. An instead of precision dodge I had magic up. 😊
This looked A LOT easier than Clouds legendary bout but I redid this one so many more times! I actually had a tough time with the last guy! And I don't have Gammeraung accessory thingy (I know I spelled it wrong lol) Your guides are exceptional! Next up: Tifa!
Yea i dont think they realised, the goal is not to stagger him as soon as possible like most seem to be doing, its actually to find a way to keep him pressured as that stops the missiles, and this does that ;) It actually took me a few hours before I recognised that the missiles stop when pressured, then was just a little bit of trial and error to figure out how to keep him pressured ;)
@@Optinooby the fireball/charging nonsense had me all sorts of frustrated! I kind of made the connection that pressuring him was a big part of the solution, but I kept running out of mp then getting trampled. 😅 Keep up the amazing work!

I switched the element+fire/ice to armor and used magic efficiency+fire on the weapon instead of element because I kept running out of MP and died in the Adamantoise fight and won.
All these guides are honestly god tier, the strategies used are simple and effective, i honestly wish i had these when i first did them, they're so much easier to use. Don't suppose you'd be willing to put together a setup for the final bossess on Hard, from lifeclinger onwards? It's a real gauntlet and requires everyone, so standard three party setups don't work quite as well and you need to spread out all the good stuff depending on what character fights what.
I just couldn't beat the Moss-Grown Adamantoise, no matter what I did, so I decided to switch out Chakra for Healing and use Cura if I got low, beat him first time after doing that, beat Hell Rider II easily also, only had to use Healing once. I don't know why Chakra didn't work for me, maybe I needed more health than it gave. Oh I also Subscribed.

This seems so much easier then rulers of the outer worlds, which I am currently stuck on. Tried your method for like 10 hours so far and just can't seem to beat it.
These videos are fantastic! I really appreciate the approach in this one. However, I might need to adjust my materia setup. I'm getting really close with the Adamantoise fight. I use Phoenix for re-raise, but it's discouraging to die twice. 😆 I'm improving, especially with dodging the rush attack, but I run out of Fira near the end. I try to be sparing with Fira. Is this the toughest fight in the gauntlet? When I eventually defeat it, will I have enough MP for the next round? I'm a bit nervous about killing the tortoise and then being destroyed in the last battle. I guess that's what these Legendary Battles are all about.
Is there a separate video for general Barret combat techniques? I've seen others mention that he can cancel animations but I haven't figured it what they meant.
@@derek8934 Not from me mate, this is all I did. That animation cancelling etc is advanced techniques which you dont really need to learn, i never really learn all that nonsense
Point blank is probably better if the enemy is up close than maximum fury and throwing in the occasional sonic boom from enemy skill for bravery/faith is good too but this build made this an absolute breeze!

Quick tip: using the two ATB bar Point Blank ability does a lot more damage than maximum fury for those wanting to take out the enemies even quicker

I decided to try the magic way - worked wonders - was struggling before.
Build:
Materia:
Weapon: Fenrir rifle (enhanced elements, limit break +10%, enhanced oc, attack +20)
Elemental+Fire&Ice, Magic Focus + Fire, Magic up, STR up
Armor: Cetran Bracer
Elemental + Fire, Magic Focus + Fire, MP absorb + Fire, Chakra, Enemy skill.
Basically limit break + OC the first round
Second phase: turbulant spirit, steelskin. Then just spam attack/abilities
Third: eyes closed with the absorb..
Fourth: Turbulant, fira, overcharge, limit, firaga, repeat
Fifth: Basically the same tactics

if you use chakra twice immediately you get the full heal from both casts, which gets bak 80% missing hp. It's pretty useful.
Yep, can confirm. Elemental materia damage uses Str as its modifier.

This adamantoise is kicking my arse. He deals so much damage and relentlessly comes at me with melee attacks.

Bro you’re the fking goat. Your builds are amazing. Passed this easy on Barret where as in cloud I was on it for at least 3-5 hours until I saw your build in did it within a hour.
I booked marked all of these guides and the playlist. I don’t have the patience to do all of these bouts in 1 sitting. So I do 1-2 and then I play some Octopath Traveler 2.

Another challenge down, thanks for the amazing guide! Crazy that after all those tough Brutal Callenges & Cloud's, this was a one-timer! Great to be stress-free. As I suck at timing blocks, I also subbed out Precision Block, and went with HP Absorb + Enemy Skill, and used Plasma Discharge after Steel(Fore)skin in the rotation. Amazing work as always! On to Tifa this weekend.....
Thank you again! I am not very good at blocking so I switched to barrage blaster little less damage and swapped out chakra and enemy skill for healing plus swiftcast. It has less damage but also has overcharge protection but also has trade off so when I was getting slapped around I was getting my mp back and healing for full health. This was helpful because while it was nice to try the double chakra thing it was hard to sometimes generate the full atb being low in health. For the turtle using turbulent spirit while it’s a short lived one time ability was useful for atb generation to regularly pressure. On to your next video!

Thanks for this. I had to make some changes to the materia and instead of Chakra I had cure. Round 4 was still wiping me out. An instead of precision dodge I had magic up. 😊

This looked A LOT easier than Clouds legendary bout but I redid this one so many more times! I actually had a tough time with the last guy! And I don't have Gammeraung accessory thingy (I know I spelled it wrong lol) Your guides are exceptional! Next up: Tifa!

Yea i dont think they realised, the goal is not to stagger him as soon as possible like most seem to be doing, its actually to find a way to keep him pressured as that stops the missiles, and this does that ;)
It actually took me a few hours before I recognised that the missiles stop when pressured, then was just a little bit of trial and error to figure out how to keep him pressured ;)
@@Optinooby the fireball/charging nonsense had me all sorts of frustrated! I kind of made the connection that pressuring him was a big part of the solution, but I kept running out of mp then getting trampled. 😅 Keep up the amazing work!

With this build you can cast fire on hell rider 2 while reflect is up to gain some health back. More potent than chakra

For Barret Swap Enemy Skill Materia for Time Materia and use Phoenix as Summon. Rearaise helped me to finish of this Turtle.
If you don’t have the gotterdammerung yet, the transference module works with this strategy too.

Wow, first try. Incredible guide yet again.
I switched the element+fire/ice to armor and used magic efficiency+fire on the weapon instead of element because I kept running out of MP and died in the Adamantoise fight and won.
All these guides are honestly god tier, the strategies used are simple and effective, i honestly wish i had these when i first did them, they're so much easier to use.
Don't suppose you'd be willing to put together a setup for the final bossess on Hard, from lifeclinger onwards? It's a real gauntlet and requires everyone, so standard three party setups don't work quite as well and you need to spread out all the good stuff depending on what character fights what.

I just couldn't beat the Moss-Grown Adamantoise, no matter what I did, so I decided to switch out Chakra for Healing and use Cura if I got low, beat him first time after doing that, beat Hell Rider II easily also, only had to use Healing once. I don't know why Chakra didn't work for me, maybe I needed more health than it gave. Oh I also Subscribed.

These videos are fantastic! I really appreciate the approach in this one. However, I might need to adjust my materia setup. I'm getting really close with the Adamantoise fight. I use Phoenix for re-raise, but it's discouraging to die twice. 😆 I'm improving, especially with dodging the rush attack, but I run out of Fira near the end. I try to be sparing with Fira. Is this the toughest fight in the gauntlet? When I eventually defeat it, will I have enough MP for the next round? I'm a bit nervous about killing the tortoise and then being destroyed in the last battle. I guess that's what these Legendary Battles are all about.
Is there a separate video for general Barret combat techniques? I've seen others mention that he can cancel animations but I haven't figured it what they meant.
@@derek8934 Not from me mate, this is all I did. That animation cancelling etc is advanced techniques which you dont really need to learn, i never really learn all that nonsense
Point blank is probably better if the enemy is up close than maximum fury and throwing in the occasional sonic boom from enemy skill for bravery/faith is good too but this build made this an absolute breeze!
