Thank you for your honesty. Everything from saying goodbye to your precious dog to the meaning of significant pieces of fabric. Your videos feel very real, personal and honest. They are also enjoyed, informative and entertaining. Thank you.❤ Australia
Thank you ❤️
Treat yourself to at most a nice rosebush or at least some forget- me- not seeds, to be picked and dispayed in his memory.
Your devotion to this space needs to be commended too, through adversity and extra work, making things to keep us occupied while you are away.
Lots of heartfelt hugs xxxx
I've planted rosemary for remembrance when my pets have passed.
Thank you Mandy, that's a nice idea. And it's a help to have so much to do in preparation for my trip, keeping me busy. I wouldn't dream of leaving you all with no videos for two weeks. ❤️
Oh that's sad news. We will all miss Sirius, the big dog.
Thank you ❤️
What a lovely way to remember Sirius ❤. I am so sorry for your loss. A big hug for you and your other lovely friends who will also miss him.
Thank you ❤️
Dear Kathryn I was moved to tears hearing about your sweet Sirius passing ~ he certainly has won our hearts over these past few months 💔 I cried again as i watched you putting those precious little mementos of your darling boy into your sweet little pocket. I'm so glad I sewed along with you on this sweet little pocket ~ it means so much more ❤💙😢
Thank you so much for your lovely words ❤️
Kathryn, so sorry for your loss. Losing a family member such as Sirius is heart wrenching. Prayers to you and the rest of your family during your time of grief. So kind of you to continue with this series of videos.

An incredibly heartfelt tribute to a good friend and companion. Thank you for sharing with us. This video inspires me to create memorial pockets for my personal losses.
Thank you I hope you find comfort in the process ❤️
Good morning from Minnesota…. I feel the little beetle visit was the spirit of Sirius saying hello and thank you for your love…❤️
That's such a lovely thought, thank you ❤️
Hail traveler! We'll think of you every time we see the bright dog star shining ✨
Thank you ❤️
Thank you. Pets are part of the family and dear to our hearts. You are indeed brave to carry on and share your loss. I love the little pocket and the keepsakes contained in it. Indeed this pocket is close to your heart.
Thank you so much ❤️
Lovely video Kathryn. I am so sorry for the loss of Sirius.
The ancient Romans created tombs for their dogs, and gave them epitaphs. One such inscription read “ I am in tears, while carrying you to your last resting place as much as I rejoiced when bringing you home with my own hands 15 years ago”. Find some comfort in all your memories with him❤
Thank you, those words are beautiful. ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss. You didn't cry at the end, but I did. Thank you for a lovely project. On a lighter note: don't forget to buy scissors when you go on your trip
❤
Thank you Annette, and I will try to remember. ❤️
I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious Serius. Our furry friends are cherished members of our families. He was blessed to have been in your care. Sending hugs, Becca
Thank you Becca ❤️
Dogs are miracles with paws. RIP Sirius, and big HUGS to you Kathryn.💔
Yes they are, thank you so much ❤️
Kathryn my heart aches for you and your loss of your precious fur baby Sirius. 💜 Thank you for including us in a bit of memorial for Sirius the Dog Star. I am honored to have gotten to know him through you and for you sharing this special pocket dedicated to his Star.
Thank you Jenny ❤️
I’m so sorry to hear the sad news about Sirius. You made a perfect tribute for him x
Thank you ❤️
Oh gosh, Kathryn. That’s hit a nerve this week. Tears falling for all of us who have suffered the indescribable grief of losing a dog. I made my dog’s quilted car seat cover into the fabric seat for a vintage aluminium folding chair for my camper. She comes with me everywhere still, in essence. But then, where else would she be?
Thank you for sharing this deeply personal video today, it was truly touching. Dogs teach us so much about love, don’t they?
Absolutely they do, unconditional devotion and trust. How wonderful that you made the seat cover. ❤️
My heart is with you Kathryn.❤ It's a good day to stitch with your precious pieces of cloth. That bit of orange thread is just perfect and the loops behind your eyelet look like little ears, so maybe your pocket mouse will think he's found a mate.🐭🐭 I can feel all of the love you put into this piece for Sirius. You did so well at the end... I could not have read that without crying. Thank you for being brave and sharing this special project with us today.
Thank you so much, and for making me smile about the pocket mouse ❤️
I wouldn't take the liberty of assuming I know how you feel but I understand the love of a pet is such a wonderful experience and when the time comes for them to leave us, it seems too too heart wrenching. We know pets don't live as long as we do but they are so unconditional in their love. Stella, poor love, will be grieving too. They are so intuitive and she will want to be your soul buddy. I will lend you my guardian angel to look over your heart. Listening to you chat along quietly and gently is beautiful, almost calm. You are a very special human being, thank you for your generosity. Take care.
Thank you so much Maureen ❤️
Oh Kathryn I am so sorry to hear about Sirius and I am sending you a big hug! You gave him a beautiful tribute here, he even became a bit of a celebrity on your channel🥰And now he’s in your lovely pocket safe and snug. Hugs and all the best!!!🍀💖Machteld
Thank you so much Machteld, I am cheering myself up right now by watching your two part video. ❤️
The precious things to remember Sirius are very moving. I am so sorry you had to let him go.
Oh Kathryn, we are all so very sorry to hear about Sirius. He will always be a shining light in your heart. Thank you for sharing his precious Life with us.
@@erinneil5480 thank you ❤️
@@randicolberg1687 thank you, it has given me comfort to read all your lovely messages ❤️
I did the same with my cat Davey. I absolutely sobbed, but I'm so happy I was able to help him pass peacefully and grateful that I had the courage to do so.
Yes I am glad you were able to take comfort from that ❤️
So very sorry for your loss Katherine. My heart goes out to you, and yours as I know too well how much we love our fur babies, and suffer terribly when they go. Today’s video was inspiring as always, and you were very brave. A beautiful pocket; emotionally full of your loving, forever tribute to Sirius.
Thank you Gloria ❤️
Awwhhhh. Sorry to hear of your loss. I know how it hurts when they leave. Experienced it more times than I ever wanted to. You will never forget him. He’ll always be with you. Hugs being sent for you

How lovely that you did share your love for Sirius with us, k3n. Thank you. Transistions are so valuable. I'm glad you and Stella are together; our little Sam Gamgee was equally sad after our big Rex died, and he both needed and offered comfort from and to me. 💛💚

Thank you, he really did. ❤️
I’m so sorry for your loss. Pets are frequently like family 💕
Thank you ❤️
Listening and watching today brought to mind one of my favorite Elizabeth Zimmermann quotes - “Knit on with confidence and hope, through all crises.” Only I was thinking, “Stitch on … stitch on…” in that quieter, private place where we may process outside of time.
Thank you Robin for those words. Stitching and knitting for that matter are wonderful ways to process grief. ❤️
Thank you for sharing. A beautiful pocket filled with reminders of your dog star
Really enjoyed learning about these pockets and the women who might have used them. Very much like our modern purses. I have always enjoyed using my grandmother's very old chatelaine for holding my stitching tools. Her everyday one fit onto the tie belt/ties of her apron. Being a farmer's wife she rarely removed her apron during the day so her scissors, etc. were always with her. However, my treasure is her sterling silver one that she wore on her dress belt when she would go to a quilting bee or some other women's gathering where stitching would be done. I do not use it regularly but do share it in the classroom with my friends who enjoy seeing such items. My grandfather made sure she always had a house key in her apron pocket and she finally made a small pouch that she pinned to the inside of her pocket so it wouldn't fall out. when she was feeding chickens, etc. She told me that she got the idea for the pouch from a ladies magazine of the 1700's she had found in the attic. I imagine it could have been a small version of this pocket. She was one of the most talented needlewoman I have ever known. Unfortunately my own mother (her daughter) never enjoyed needlework.. Grandma taught me all she could in my teens before she passed and the only knitting defeated me. I was happy to be given all of her sewing stash and equipment by my aunt when grandmother passed and still use many of her buttons, etc. on my work..
I love the sound of your grandmother and how wonderful that she passed on her skills to you as well as her precious things. ❤️
So sorry to hear about Serious the loss of our fur babies is hard to hear and it helps to talk about them with people who care. What a nice tribute with the beads and fur enclosure and nice words. He was much loved and gave much love back. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much ❤️
Oh Kathryn, I'm so sorry your friend has passed. The pocket is a lovely way to honor him, his life, and his passing. Dogs grieve too and Stella is likely missing her friend and wanting to comfort you at the same time, which is why she is unsettled. I'm sure you already know this, but my heart needed to share it anyway. May you find comfort and peace in each other. Love to you.
Thank you so much, yes you are right about Stella I am sure. ❤️
So beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ Ferris was fortunate to have you and your love ❤❤ and so are we on our journey with you 💜

Well you read the beautiful words and I cried for you. I lost a most beloved sister 13 years ago and I have some of her clothes which I have never cut into. I’m ready to make a pocket now for her. Shine bright Dog Star. ❤
Oh Linda I have no words but much love to you ❤️
I just now finished your video (interrupted by dr, appt) and the end just broke my heart thinking of the many wonderful animals that came to the end of their story that I loved. Damn, I wish they could live with us longer. Bless you Katryn. BIG HUGS to you and your family.
Thank you, yes they have such short lives. ❤️
I’m very thankful to have been recommended your videos because they are very comforting and fun to watch, and because it has introduced me to this lovely and humble community. I am a young man who loves to sew and stitch, but I am also very shy and usually keep to myself, so in regards to finding community, it has been a bit challenging.
I can relate much to the preference for worn clothing and opting into repairing and taking good care of them rather than buying new clothes. I can become very sentimental about certain fabrics and colors and garments; I hate to think about just tossing them out or not at least recycling the material somehow.
The Sirius star has become a greater fixation of mine lately, and when you mentioned your darling dog Sirius, I gasped in a delighted surprise! Oh, how the stars align- especially in the theme of connection and comfort!
Simply broadcasting your honest and passionate self means so much, and again, I am very thankful for your content.
Much love, & Sirius bless. 🤍🫧
Thank you so much ❤️
I have L shaped rips on more than one garment from tending my roses. I may have to applique a patch over them to cover the clumsy stitching I've done to contain the rip. Speaking of passing on cloth, my mother (and I assume her mother before her) kept a (rather large) rag bag. I never saw her use the "rags" but before I left home for good I rummaged through it and pulled out pieces that had special appeal to me. I still have one piece of that fabric. 😊 It has paint on it in one area from where my father must have used it to do some cleaning up after a project of his.
I have kept bits of fur and feathers from the pets I've had. Now I'll have a place to keep them. ❤
All of us who've had precious pets in our lives grieve with you.
Thank you Sue. ❤️
The most touching and moving tribute at the end. A precious pocket indeed.
Awww. I'm so sorry to hear about Sirius, I well know the hole this will have left. We had to say goodbye to our 17yr old Fred Cat last week. We are celebrating his life by sharing the memories we have of him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sirius' passing. Much love to you, Hans, your children, Stella, and Fred Fred. And thank you for another inspiring project. I'm so grateful for your videos and this whole stitch-along series in particular! It's been helping me to let go of some of the perfectionism that has been standing in the way of my ability to create for the sake of creating and allowing myself to progress through simply making and finishing works, no matter the result. It means a lot to me! Heel veel liefs uit Amsterdam
Thank you so much I am so pleased you are enjoying the videos and finding joy in creating. ❤️
Kathryn, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Sirius. I can't imagine your pain. My dog Scout is almost 16 and we know her time is coming soon. I have left my pocket empty so that when the time comes I can borrow some of your wonderful enclosure ideas. ♥

Thank you Diane and also from my family ❤️
What a sweet loving tribute to your beloved dog.
Very thankful that you shared your beloved Sirius with us. We did get to see him, and have a moment in history recorded of him, when you walked in your woods to bury your cloth book.
Yes, he was there. And I have filmed part one of a video not yet published, where he barks in the background at one point. ❤️
Thank you for this video and sharing. Your pocket is wonderful and the precious things and words you put into the pocket made me cry because of the deep meaning. ❤
Thank you so much ❤️

Thank you so much Leona, I hope you enjoy your pockets ❤️
Katherine, just want to add my sympathy to the others. You’re so well loved, that we all can relate to your pain. I’ve lost 2 older dogs in the last year and it’s a real struggle to let it go. Will be thinking of you.
Thank you Carolyn, I am so sorry for your loss too ❤️❤️❤️
Dear Lady, thank you for being yourself and sharing about Sirius. I love the mementos that you put in your adorable pocket. I will make my pocket soon !💜
I am sorry for your loss, I feel we are all missing our beloved fur babies, they are so precious. I feel they are always there with us walking around us, leaving little messages that they are there. I love that you have a special place for your little bits of memorabilia. Your pocket is glorious. Thank you so much for sharing your precious memories with all of us. I too have little bits from my lovely fur baby. It is a comfort to know we have a little bit of them. I love all the old jeans that we had, that had the extra wide piece of material we put in the sides to make the wide bells. Each had a special look to them, with the handkerchief tops. Love this video.
Thank you Michelle. It's so hard to lose them, I know it's early days but the house feels so strange without him. And of course, I keep finding one of his hairs on the sofa or on my clothes. ❤️
@@k3n.clothtales I collected them for a long time and I have a nice hand full, for something I will come across in the future that will be just the right fit for them. My thoughts and prayers your way, big hugs. I love that you made a paper pocket for them to put in your pocket. Lovely.
I am so very sorry about your dear “old dog”. I hope sitting and wittering while you stitch, you and we just sitting together brings comfort in friendship for you are my dear friend. I feel deeply this concept of pockets, it’s sparked some cogitating. Thank you.
Thank you yes, the pockets thing does make one think doesn't it. ❤️
Our pets become entwined within our family life, and it’s very sad and difficult when we lose them. I still miss my wee chihuahua, Samson. I’m so sorry Sirius is gone, but I’m sure, after having him for so long, you will find comfort in sharing happy memories of him.
Thank you so much, I love the name Samson for your little chihuahua, I am sure he was worthy of the name ❤️
Dear Kathryn, so sorry to hear of your loss of your lovely dog, Sirius. All of us who are seasoned pet owners have been there, and it’s the hardest part of loving them, letting them go when they need to. I can only think from watching you these past months, through your videos, he must have had the best life. Your tribute to him through the pocket brought tears, but what a lovely memory keepsake you made for him. Wishing you a swift healing so you can go forward remembering all his best moments. X
Thank you so much, it's really helped me to share with you all. Though of course I miss him enormously. ❤️
So sorry to hear of Sirius' passing. It's a hard but kind decision you made.
Dear k3n I am so terribly sorry to hear about you dear dog, Sirius. It is the kindest, most loyal last act we can do for our beloved animals…to let them go when the time is right and it is also so very hard to do. May you and all who also held Sirius dear as a beloved be wrapped in gentleness , cradled in softness. Go gently with yourselves just now. Sending love and gratitude for you sharing as you did xxx

Oh, Kathryn, I immediately noticed you were sad. I am so so sorry, you know how much I love when you talk about or show your little friends. I don’t have any now, but I had three girls since I was 7 till I was 42 and when they were gone, the sadness was overwhelming. I’m very happy that you got to show him on one of your videos. It may make no sense, but I always imagine them with our loved ones who were gone too. My mother loved our three dogs and somehow I imagine they’re with her now.
The pocket (which is so beautiful) is a lovely tribute to Sirius 💔
And, yes, you’re not alone, I too prefer old clothes to new stiff ones, that’s why I only buy secondhand 😊
Much love and a big hug 🌹❤️✨
Thank you Alexandra. Stella won't leave my side and Fred has come walking in the woods every morning with us. I am lucky to still have these two, but I still look for Sirius when I go downstairs or when I come in from outside. So so sorry to hear about Sirius Kathryn, losing a furry member of the family is so sad, I can imagine your sorrow. I am sewing as I watch this video, although not mending, I am working in my boro journal. My little furry friend Ralph is 17 and only has three legs, a huge cob horse had gotten loose of his tether in a nearby field and had been spooked, as he ran straight past me missing me by a whisker, poor little Ralph got trampled hence losing his leg and to make matters worse it was the day before my mums funeral! Anyway, he took to only having three legs very well for the first few years, but the last two he refuses to walk anywhere and who can blame him. We are acutely aware time is running out, but he has had a long life full of love, as I am sure Sirius had. Sending much love and warm thoughts xx
Thank you so much Julie. I have been knitting this evening and you have kept me company stitching on your scroll. Love to you and little Ralph. ❤️
