He really is, isn't he? What doesn't show is his ability to anticipate the next step and he's there. Skill & experience; all without any 'technology'. I would want him on a worksite crew any time.
And Nick is the only one who believes in protective gear.

I call him Nick the Brick 😊
Nick is great, and he sets an example by wearing a helmet on this dangerous structure. But Brian looks good too and handy on brickwork and carpentry.
I think they will need a good plasterer and also a roofing man skilled with tiling and flashing work.
The old photo transition was one of the most stunning moments so far - that was quite something!

The 'pineapple' motif (the fellas found up on the roof) is a symbol of Hospitality and Wealth as far back as the 1700s. You might want to replicate a few of these and add them to the roof 'decor'. The progress is fantastic to watch!!! Hope the puppies are all chubby and happy. :)
Definitely replicate them.
I think they were decorative pieces on top of the dormer windows. Based on the old photographs, each dormer window had either one or three of these atop.

This is like watching a series that you are glued to, can't wait for the next episode! It is nothing like any house build or repair on TH-cam witch seems to drag on but not your build, you make the story so exciting, not to mention your enthusiasm witch is infectious and learning new skills, just a GREAT show. Thanks for sharing it with everyone.
No endless repetition too like you get on TV series.
Oh yeah, there's a German channel that had three or more videos of the guy building two or three metres of brick foundation a week in a row. Then building control shut down the site because he didn't have permission for the foundation rebuild (he didn't need permission for repairing the timber frame above like for like but he did as soon as he touched the brickwork underneath and he didn't know that).

3:42 That was mesmerizingly haunting ! All these people (and pets) that used to live, laugh and share moments of happiness in what is now a ruin ... It also gave a great idea of what the finished renovation might feel like. I loved it !

Looking back at the first floor, this is so much more efficient. Having said that, this wouldn't have been possible without the lessons learned doing it the slow way. Kudos to you all!

Yes, having the extra people really is helping as I advised Dan a year ago. He needs a team of 3 or 4 to make progress on this massive structure.
Not only for safer working. Lifting and maneuvering new materials, but also as a buddy system in case someone gets hurt. Working alone on this type of remote project is suicide.
Well, he has finally taken my advice, and look how progress is rocketing!

My sister turned me on to this channel just a few short months ago after telling everybody how great it is and I was immediately hooked. She passed away two nights ago suddenly from a leg infection. Remembering the first day, I never would’ve imagined it would have proceeded to this point this quickly. Well done men. This has been an incredible feet of diligence and manpowers.
