Thanks for this genuine reaction 🙏🏼. I laughed out loud when your first comment was that you liked their costumes and when you tried to sing the chant in Road of Resistance 😂😂😂. Babymetal has always had mixed reactions but they have a special place in my heart for introducing me to all the great music from Japan and for delivering spectacular live performances. I saw them in Phoenix last year. They sold out a 5,000 capacity hall, the crowd was the most diverse I have ever seen and everyone had a fantastic time 🎉🕺🤟😍. Gracias 🥇👏.
Hi Richard! ✌🏻 I really really like this song, probably it has to be one of my favourites from them, I got a comment from other person and give a lot of information about the band, so I noticed that I was judging them with a lot of rumours and misinformation so I've changed my mind and try to listen to more of them 😅 I would like to react to their new song with Electric Callboy 👀

Yo soy fan del metal clásico cómo megadeth, Sepultura, Iron Maiden y cuando escuché Babymetal cuando explotaron en popularidad con gimmie choccolate la verdad me espantó, no me gustó para nada
Después de muchos años le volví a dar una oportunidad y es una exelente banda, en lo personal yo soy más fan de sus temas más sobrios y agresivos que de su lado pop-kawaii
Con lo de la parte Idol estás en lo correcto en cuanto a como se maneja pero con Babymetal no es el caso, Todo el proyecto gira en torno a Suzuka así que ella es irremplazable , Yui la chica de soporte que cambiaron, ella se fué por problemas de salud,no la votaron y tuvo que pasar 6 años para que Momo ( la nueva integrante) sea parte oficial de la banda. Babymetal al pertenecer a la escena del metal y tener fuerte presencia en el extranjero hace que en el paso del tiempo tengan más valía a diferencia de lo que es el Idol en Japón
Babymetal ciertamente es parte de una división Idol pero gracias a su arduo trabajo y también al productor Koba-metal quien es el que creo el proyecto la banda pudo independizarse y ser completamente autónoma así que la banda tiene total libertad musical
Muchos podrán criticar que el proyecto es realmente del productor y no de las chicas ( cosa que a mí también me jode) pero seamos honestos , muchísimas bandas en el mundo se manejan así
Lo bueno es que las chicas en estos últimos años ya están teniendo más incisión creativa en las canciones
Te recomiendo que escuches "Divine Attack" en esa canción la letra fué hecha en gran parte por Suzuka la vocalista

En los gustos musicales cada uno es libre de ponerse las barreras que quiera, pero desde mi punto de vista solo debería haber una barrera y es ¿me gusta lo que estoy escuchando?, si me gusta pues todo lo demás es irrelevante. No siempre pensé así pero esta banda cambió mi forma de ver la música y empecé a escuchar no solo artistas y bandas nuevas, sino también otros géneros musicales, cuando antes solo escuchaba metal.
Pd. en cuanto a los "rumores" de los que hablas, es cierto que ellas no escriben las canciones y no lo veo como un rumor ya que nunca se ha dicho lo contrario ni han tratado de ocultarlo, Babymetal tienen un gran equipo detrás de productores, músicos, escritores y todos ellos siempre han recibido créditos por su trabajo. En cuanto a lo de que van a cambiar a las integrantes por su edad es totalmente falso, en 2018 una de las integrantes originales dejó el proyecto debido a problemas de salud y el año pasado entró una nueva integrante.
Hola Julián 🙌🏻 Esperaba un comentario odioso, pero veo que más que nada me quieres decir que amplíe mi mente y no descarte cosas por chismes y demás, así que gracias en serio 🙌🏻 La verdad no soy de ser metalero intenso que habla basura de todos los géneros, simplemente fue ignorancia mía el quedarme con chismes y rumores 🙃 Pero afortunadamente varias personas han pasado y me han dejado información de la banda, de las chicas y muchos puntos a considerar 🙌🏻 Justo como dices, la barrera sólo debería de ser esa, porque justo cuando las conocí me gustaron, pero después entré la desinformación y los chismes, empezaron a dejar de gustarme tontamente, acepto mi error y aunque si, no es mi banda favorita, si escucho las canciones viejas que conocí de ellas y las reconozco y hasta canto, entonces si fue una postura muy mensa de mi parte 😅

Hola y bienvenido de vuelta al mundo de BabyMetal o como también le decimos, el "Foxhole".🦊🤘🔥
Veo que ya tenés varios comentarios aclarando tus dudas al respecto del grupo así que no voy a ser repetitivo aclarando todos los detalles para intentar sacarte ese preconcepto que tenes o tenías de éste grupo el cual es muy diferente a todo lo que se haya visto hasta el momento ya que no son las tipicas idols japonesas y en su vida privada y cotidiana no andan así disfrazadas y pasan totalmente desapercibidas ante cualquier otro, tampoco son objeto de búsqueda constante sobre noticias de ella y su vida familiar, ni siquiera tienen sus propias redes sociales más que la corporativa u oficial de BM para promover sobretodo el merchandising y los conciertos próximos así como noticias del grupo al igual que fotos y videos de sus giras como hicieron recientemente al finalizar la gira europea.
En cuanto a lo artístico sin duda están cada vez más involucradas en diferentes aspectos, incluso la nueva miembro tiene su propio espacio en los nuevos temas y hasta añadiendo guturales en algunas canciones.
La verdad que es un caso raro lo tuyo pq en general los que gustan del anime son los que más se atraen a la música de ellas, y tal como te dijeron ellas después de 2010 solian ser la puerta de entrada a muchas otras bandas japonesas pero por supuesto salvando las diferencias ya que ninguna de esas hace lo mismo ni remotamente a lo que hace BM ni tienen ese éxito internacional masivo con fans de muchas partes del mundo.
Si tu caso es que no te gustaban los temas de antes con sus voces más agudas tal vez se puede entender, de vuelta raro en especial si viene de alguien que le guste el anime donde abundan ese tipo de voces aunque vale aclarar que BM muy pocas veces ha intentado en acercarse a la temática anime y en general apuestan a su propio sonido sin depender de otros factores o soportes tan conocidos como el anime. Pero retomando, si tu caso es ese entonces muy probablemente las canciones de la primera época no te van a gustar tanto y tal vez canciones como esta que recién escuchaste que pertenecen a su último álbum conceptual sean más de tu agrado ya que están más alejadas de ese sonido alegre, divertido y menos serio o descontracturado, aunque de todas ellas tengan ese tipo de canciones incluso en la era temprana pero no con tanta predominancia.
Te voy a recomendar algunas de sus canciones o temas que pueden llegar a engancharte de su primera época si es que aún no la escuchaste y luego canciones más recientes:

Hola Jake 🙌🏼 Muchas gracias por las recomendaciones y por los comentarios que dejaste, obvio no creo que hayas leído todas las respuestas que dejé en los demás comentarios que habrás visto, pero te lo resumo de otra forma jaja.
En pocas palabras tenía mentalidad tonta al poner de pretexto muchos rumores que llegué a escuchar, porque en sí, su música si me gustaba cuando las conocí, disfrutaba de Chocolate, Road Of Resistance, entre otras que no recuerdo. Alguien me puso que lo único que debería de importarme más allá de los rumores es el "me gusta" o el "no me gusta". Eso sí, con todas las aclaraciones e historia de la banda, ahora comprendo un poco más que estaba siendo sumamente duro con ellas, literalmente lo único que me molestaba era "que no escribían sus propias canciones"... Bro! Tenían entre 11 y 14 años, no toda la gente anda escribiendo canciones a esa edad 😅 Realmente han de ser pocas las personas que lo hagan. E independientemente no serían ni las primeras ni las últimas que tengan personas que escriban sus canciones por ellas, así que ya me relajé con eso, lo juro jaja.
En cuestión a voz, bailes, espectáculo y demás, nunca he tenido algún problema con eso en realidad jaja, lo otro que me preocupaba es que la banda fuera como desechable y no reconocida pero ya me dijeron que pues como el espectáculo principal son ellas 3 por eso los videos en vivo siempre las van a enfocar más a ellas.
Respecto a lo otro que dices, si se nota una gran evolución de su música de hace 10 años a lo más actual, definivitamente Monochrome está en mi top de canciones que he escuchado 🙌🏼

Hola, se agradece la honestidad siempre y se valora. Escribí un comentario algo extenso, mucho texto jajaja.
Ellas no son un grupo convencional y justamente es esa una de las criticas que la gente les suele hacer. Pero es como si criticaran una salsa por estar picosa cuando claramente esa es la intención xD ellas buscan unir este mundo idol y pop con el metal. (A algunos fans aún les cuesta esta parte y buscan esconder bajo la alfombra el lado pop de la banda).
Babymetal son Su-Metal (voz principal), Moametal (Coros y baile) y Momometal (coros y baile... y guturales) La chica que salió hace aproximadamente 6 años fue por decisión propia y las 3 que están actualmente se les nota el amor que le tienen al grupo y lo mucho que les apasiona tanto su trabajo como el Heavy Metal. (Y no, no las van a reemplazar y no, tampoco la banda gira en torno a Su y que su papel sobre la pista musical sea el que más destaque la gente solo se siente como demeritar el trabajo de danza y coros de las otras dos sobre el escenario).
Quiero también compartir mi punto de vista sobre la composición musical/letra.
NO me parece que sea un requisito para ser un buen artista. La parte creativa no es necesaria cuando se tienen otros talentos. Siento que sería como quejarse de los vocalistas de las bandas, porque muchas veces son otros integrantes los que escriben las letras. Band-Maid por ejemplo, que Miku suele tener mayor crédito en las letras, y yo no pienso que eso le quite merito a Saiki como vocalista. Al contrario, se complementan y es ahí donde agradeces que ambas compartan su talento la una con la otra.
Ya es muy personal lo que tú quieras de una banda, pero quizás BABYMETAL pueda tener este efecto en ti como lo ha tenido en muchos de nosotros a explorar, salir de nuestra zona de confort y buscar no solo sonidos/géneros distintos, sino conceptos también distintos.

Justo muchas personas han sido igual de amables que tú al querer darme más información de la banda, sus orígenes y demás y la verdad es que la perspectiva que tengo ahora es completamente diferente, una cosa que olvidé demasiado fue su edad en sus orígenes, quien va a estar escribiendo canciones a esa santa edad!? Muy poca gente pienso yo.
Entiendo tu punto de otros integrantes que escriben las canciones y las canta alguien más pero, aquí entra otro dilema (que ya fue aclarado, no te preocupes jaja) que tenía y el cual era que sentía que hacían a los músicos de lado y chance por eso sentía que me ofendía más todo el proyecto como tal.
Realmente el tipo de voz, los bailes, las vestimentas y demás nunca me molestaron y como una buena persona me puso en los comentarios: cuando se trata de música la única barrera debería de ser "me gusta" o "no me gusta" y como me gustaban desde antes fue tonto andar de prejuicioso 😅

Buen dato, en general detesto los subgéneros porque nunca nadie está de acuerdo con si una banda es uno u otro, pero en este caso, creo que no hay discusión jaja.
Babymetal no son ídolos. Están orientados mayormente al auditivo occidental. No son tan populares en Japón como se puede pensar.
Babymetal se presenta en el extranjero con más frecuencia que en Japón. (pero sus shows en Japón suelen ser más grandes y más caros.)
Segun Spotify son la banda de metal mas popular de Japon

What you are looking at is the result of a Process. They started as the sidekick of an idol Group, so yes Originally they were idols but there Manager tried its best to get them out of the idol business. Their costs were hidden pretty fast in the cost structure of Babymetal, and when they came to Europe and were immediatley remarked due to the much bigger metal markets they integrated themselves in the US and Europran timetables. And this caused in the japanese Metal Scene some problems Normally they have strict rules when to cut ties to a Band, but as they realised that they gained Traktion outside of Japan... Band Maid was one of the first cases. Their Terminator Documents were already written when they suddenly made a jump. Their record Label thought they were hacked but then they realized these were all accesses from the USA and UK....
Sorry to say, but in Japan when you have shows with over 50.000 people and always full, yes, they are popular in Japan.

14 años y siguen siendo las mismas personas, una se salio por problemas de salud, la banda se creo por la voz que tiene la cantante principal, dicho esto por el productor y creador del grupo y en mi opinion "BABYMETAL" se acaba el dia que ella no este ahi, ya crearon hace como un año un grupo parecido con miembros mas jovenes pero con otro nombre(METALVERSE)
La musica es un arte cooperativo, incluso cantautores tienen productores y musicos que contribuyen con la creacion de las piesas musicales.

Good reaction - but it sounds to me like you are desperately trying to find reasons not to like BABYMETAL ... and failing miserably.
They started in 2010 as a sub-unit of an Idol group which was set up by the talent agency Amuse to coach and train the most talented girls on their books aged 10 to 15 in all aspects of entertainment to find what they would be best at or what they would like to do most when they left school to start their careers.
BABYMETAL separated from the parent Idol group in 2013 to become an independent band in their own right ... and they were no longer part of the Idol system (if such a thing as people in the west think of it even exists).
The original 3 members were lead vocalist Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal.
Late 2017 Yuimetal missed Su-metal's 20th birthday concerts under her doctor's advice. She was then absent for the 2018 tour which Su-metal and Moametal completed supported by 2 dancers and in October 2018, 12 months after her last appearance, Yuimetal announced she had still not fully recovered her health and that she would leave the band.
Su-metal and Moametal chose to continue as a duo for the next 4-5 years. Nobody "aged out", nobody was easily brought in to replace Yuimetal.
From 2019 Su and Moa were supported by 3 dancers who would take turns to dance (not to sing) in the third spot. From about March 2020 just one of those dancers remained - one started a solo career, another became a member of a new group.
In 2021, after completing their 10th anniversary concerts (10 shows between January and April 2021 at the Budokan in Tokyo), they were unable to tour because of the pandemic. BABYMETAL announced they would be taking a hiatus and they went dark ... no news, no music, nothing.
12 months later they started a restoration period with short clips of new songs being released bit by bit until they finally announced concerts to be performed in January 2023 and a new album to be released in March 2023.
At the January concerts it was still Su-metal and Moametal (they had discussed ending BABYMETAL during the hiatus, but had decided they wanted to continue) and the same dancer who had been supporting them since 2019. At the end of the concerts they teased there may finally be a new third member. It was over 5 years since Yuimetal last performed.
At their next concerts in April 2023 they finally announced the "new BABYMETAL" would be Su-metal, Moametal and Momometal ... this was Momoko who had been the dancer for 4 years, but now she had a microphone and was singing with them too.
Does this sound like the Idol group you had imagined with girls being replaced when they got too old? Su-metal and Moametal have spent literally more than half of their lives working harder than anybody to make BABYMETAL what they are today and it took them over 5 years to agree on having someone in the third place after their friend became ill and had to quit.
They were 12 and 11 when they started. Su-metal is 26 now, Moametal will be 25 in a few days time.
As for "they don't write their own songs". That is just ridiculous. Probably 95% of artists have most or all of their songs written for them, some of the most successful artists have never written a song for themselves - and what about people in bands where just one member writes all the songs - does that mean the rest of the band members are pointless or not real?
BABYMETAL have had the same people writing songs for them since they started. They were aged 12 and 11 when they started - what intellectual gems and masterpieces do you think they would have written?
Their song writers have written songs that the girls could relate to and that they could express the meaning, all the emotions or the fun or whatever because the songs were written "in their voice".
Having said that, Yuimetal and Moametal have full writing credits for lyrics and music (not the arrangement) for the song '4 No Uta' and Su-metal has writing credits as lyricist for the first single released from the latest album ('Divine Attack - Shingeki').
You do not have to like them, but be honest - would that be because you don't like the music or maybe their voices or is it because you made up reasons that are based on misinformation and lies that go against some imaginary rules you (or some sort of metal gatekeeper) made up?

So I just have a few questions/comments based on what you have said 🤔
1. So they were part of an idea of an idol system/group, right? So those rumours when they first came out were real that they would be replaced when they became "old", right? Or do you mean about the whole idea of the idol group as they were first recruited? I must say that it's crazy that they've been out there for that long, sometimes I forget that I've known them for that long, but now that you mentioned I showed my girlfriend their music when I was starting dating her and that was 7 years ago 🤯
2. Now that you have said about them being independent the rumours I've heard don't apply anymore 🤔 About being old and being replaced, specially.
3. You have a great point about the lyrics, they were so young when they were recruited, people who actually write their own songs are like one in a million, but I guess that when I started hearing this rumour I guess it bothered me that it wasn't said publicly or some kind of stuff.
4. It's crazy how they were really careful on choosing a new member for the band and I feel bad for the other girl that has to leave due to healthcare issues, hope she is fine 🙏🏻
5. Finally, I would like to ask you something more because I will upload "Tales Of The Destinies (Live)" today. The question is related to the members of the band, I noticed that they don't... Mmmm... How to say it... Fit on stage? I've noticed that they are always some kind of hide and I asked on that video if they are presented or are given some credit for being part of them.
Thank you so much for writing all of this, it's giving me a completely new perspective and now I think I would be able to listen to them without judging, as I said, I enjoy their music when I first listen to them, but I heard a lot of rumours and started judging instead of researching and know more of them.
BTW I listen to anything actually so don't worry it's not about being a metalhead who judged every other band that doesn't fit his taste of music, as you said, it was all about the misinformation I had, sadly...

1. Yes they started in an Idol group called Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy). As I said, it was was set up by the Amuse talent agency to coach and train the most talented girls on their books aged 10 to 15 in all aspects of entertainment to find what they would be best at or what they would like to do most when they left school (compulsory education ends at 15 in Japan) to start their careers.
The group had a school theme so at the end of the school year they would have a graduation concert and ceremony. The oldest girls would "graduate" and would move on to start their careers with Amuse representing them singing, dancing, modelling, acting, stage management or whatever they chose (I know of one who left entertainment to become a nurse) and new younger girls would "transfer in".
There were several sub-units (about 3 girls in each) with a theme like an after school club (cooking, tennis, science, baton twirling etc). Each sub-unit would have themed songs and dances that they would perform at Sakura Gakuin shows, Idol festivals etc as well as the big group songs all the girls would perform in.
BABYMETAL was the Heavy Music Club (in real schools there was often a Light Music Club that girls would attend after school).
The Heavy Music Club was the idea of one man - their producer Kei Kobayashi who had previously worked with Amuse representing bands - but rock and metal was having a bad time in Japan at that time with J-Pop, hip hop etc monopolising nearly all the TV and radio air time, so the audience for rock and metal was shrinking as fans got older, started families and moved on and no younger new fans were getting any exposure to attract them.
Kobayashi was moved to work with kids by Amuse - and he saw Su-metal performing with her previous group (they sang songs for an anime and the anime ended so the group had a farewell concert for the fans before they broke up and the members were invited to join the new group Amuse was going to set up - that was Sakura Gakuin). He was so impressed with her singing style and stage presence (she was only 11) that he had the mad idea of her fronting a metal band as her voice would not be drowned out by loud music.
Kobayashi asked Amuse if he could add the Heavy Music Club. They thought it was a mad idea as there was no market for rock and metal at that time, but they allowed him to set it up under the umbrella of Sakura Gakuin as there was no financial risk (they provided him with no extra funding) and it would give the girls some experience of performing and learning how music groups worked.
Amuse thought it would be a short lived experiment that would lead to nothing as there was no audience for anything related to metal. Also Su would graduate and start her career after her 15th birthday, so it would give her some experience in the 2 or 3 years until then.
Su was clearly Kobayashi's inspiration and the only choice for lead singer. He picked her two young friends Yui and Moa to add the J-Pop dance aspect that would make the Heavy Music Club stand out and different.
They would perform under the name BABYMETAL which represented the birth of a new metal genre and was also a pun as the Japanese writing and pronunciation of BABYMETAL is very nearly identical to Heavy Metal.
BABYMETAL found an audience and started to gain in popularity and it was decided by Amuse and Kobayashi that when Su would graduate BABYMETAL should go with her to be her (also Yui's and Moa's) vehicle as she began her career as a singer.
4. Japanese people take their privacy very seriously. Nothing has been heard of or from Yui since she left (Su and Moa did say they talk to her and she is doing well), but we all hope that she is happy and healthy and following her dreams.
5. 'Tales of the Destinies' is like an homage to Dream Theater and it is full on Prog Metal. Probably their most complex and difficult to perform song ... and they have full choreography for it.
When they started BABYMETAL would sing and dance to pre-recorded instrumentals. In advance of them separating from Sakura Gakuin and as part of their preparing to become an independent band the live band was introduced and phased in.
They were the best session musicians to be found in Japan (Kobayashi had his contacts in the music industry of course). They first appeared in October 2012 and from there they supported BABYMETAl at a couple of festivals and played the encores in some shows.
After BABYMETAL became independent, with the release of their first album at the start of 2014 the live band (the Kami Band) became their full time support for all live shows.
There have been many Kami Band members as they would swap in and out depending on their own availability (they have their own bands, projects and families), but the same hard core of about 6 musicians played the vast majority of live concerts from late 2013 until their last appearance (to date) in January 2023.
In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced to support BABYMETAL in their increasingly lengthy foreign tours and they have been ever present since April 2023. They played nearly 100 concerts in 25 countries in 2023. Only the bassist has swapped out since 2019.
They are not hidden (and on the smaller stages around the world they are right there behind the girls), but on the big, elaborate stages in the Japanese arena shows where the DVDs are filmed the main focus for the cameras is naturally on the girls. They will be on moving platforms heading out into the crowd, the Kami Band can't be on those platforms, so they are on the main stage.
People at the concerts can see and watch them, the cameras will be mostly filming the girls so the Kami Band don't appear so much on the videos.

Me gusta tu opinión . Y creo entender eso que sientes. Babymetal no es una banda como otras. No se que tanto has investigado de ellas pero surgen de una escuela de idols ( Sakura Gakuin) fundada por Amuse inc. Compañía productora que es quien las produce actualmente así como a Perfume y otras bandas idols. Babymetal empezó como un experimento y fue ganando reconocimiento y cuando graban su primer disco saltaron a la fama mundial. El nivel de producción de sus conciertos masivos en Japón no es más que el reflejo de la compañía que tienen detrás. Los músicos ron músicos de sesión y que han o estafo en otras bandas y todos son músicos de primer nivel. Las coreografías son también hechas por una coreografía de clase internacional. A lo que voy es que babymetal es un concepto con una muy muy buena producción en todos los sentidos y además, súmale el carisma y el talento que es innegable en cada una de ellas. Estamos viendo a tres señoritas que desde primaria han estado tomando clases de baile, canto y actuación. Ir a un concierto de ellas es también asistir a un perfomance audiovisual. Tal vez por eso no sientas está banda tan orgánica, por decirlo de alguna manera, que otras. Cómo lo dijo su vocalista ( Suzuka nakamoto) babymetal no son solo Ellas. Es todo el equipo de músicos, staff, ingenieros y producción. Yo diría que más que una banda es un concepto de metal Kawai.

Lo que dices me gusta incluso más, se ve que toman en cuenta a todo el equipo que está involucrado, de igual forma ya me aclararon que la banda no es desechable (por decirlo de una forma) y si los toman en cuenta, nada más que tontamente no había considerado que el espectáculo principal son las chicas y por eso no los enfocan demasiado en los videos de conciertos 😅
