Great video. The 5x5 training makes a lot of sense. I'm 65 and carry a Kimber TLE II in .45 acp and have for years everyday. I agree with the "keep it simple" philosophy. I have two identical TLE II's as carry guns as one is a backup to the other. I know people bash Kimbers but my TLE II's have been very reliable and with Wilson Combat magazines and good factory ammunition, they have never let me down. The only modifications I have made to my TLE's are Wilson Combat GI guide rods, and Ed Brown arched mainspring housings. Since I train regularly with them, I replace the springs with Wolf Springs after 1200 rounds. I enjoy your video content.

I tried the red dot thing. All the benefits they preached were absolutely there. I got off work a couple times and went shooting pulled out a dust collection bin that used to be a red dot. The effect is what I could only describe as a red kaleidoscope. After it got that way a few times I decided it wasn’t the choice for me!

I just started the red dot thing about a year ago. Starting to get used to it still favor Iron sites at this time. Great video sheriff.

I just want to say I really enjoy your videos. They always have something in them I can learn from. I have an optic on both my carry guns but its Green. I found Green easier to pickup during the day. I get on TH-cam daily hoping to find one of your videos that I haven't seen yet. Keep putting out the great content and Be Safe!

Machine shop dye chem ink I use sometimes on fire arms, any metal to metal contact it would scratch off showing where friction was effecting the gun, for example take a few 45 ACP and cover brass with ink, then cycle gun and look at casings, for magazines the same, some on metal near the feed, a little by mag catch slot on magazine, what we forget is that a mag catch and mag catch slot to big or to small in tolerance has a lot to do with how a magazine works with a gun, even 1/32 of a inch can move magazine lower then it should engage the feed ramp

    Great video and fun training!
I like my handguns simple too.
I’m turning 65 in a month and I’ve been fortunate in my youth that my Pop loved target shooting.
My first revolver was at age 11. Under his supervision of course.
I’m savy to red dots and such but I prefer just a good bright flat white front sight ramp on my carry piece.

Love it! I carry a combat commander as well. Usually a detective special on my ankle for backup. Been carrying mine just about as long as you. I’ve tried others but I tend to carry it the majority of the time. It’s easy to conceal and carry year round. Love to see more content with it. Keep the videos coming!

Arthritis has thrown a kink in my 1911 carry ( I have problems manipulating the safety ) after 40 years of packing one .
    I’m now reduced to carrying a Glock 42 , it’s accurate enough , and I suppose it’s better than a stick , but it sure ain’t a .45.

Great shooting ! I’ve heard people have trouble getting used to the red dot. Use what’s best for you ! I’ve got a Kimber Pro Carry HD II which is an all stainless steel commander size. Don’t get to use it for work but I still really like it.
Have a Blessed Day Sheriff 🇺🇸

Sheriff, test the Crimson Trace Red Laser grips for the 1911 if you haven't already. You may find them to be a positive addition to the 1911. I have CT Red Laser Grips on all of my 1911 firearms. The additional usefulness added to the firearm is "spot on" along with the three dot iron sights. I find the 5" 45 and 4.5" 9mm 1911 to be number one in every category. Many reasons. I prefer the 1911 over all. Springfield 4.5" EMP4 9mm 1911 is a great CC firearm. (Lighter)
The Rock Island Tactical II 1911 5" 45 and 9mm are by far the best in quality, performance and by far the cost. In the last 12 years, the Rock Island 5" Tactical II 1911 proves again and again to be better in every category than some 1911 makes that are three times the cost. I have tested many. I have found that the Springfield TRP 45 full size is a fantastic 1911 but will cost high to an owner, yet is worth every cent. Thank you Sheriff for your information shared in your videos.

Sir, what i was most impressed with was your reaction when the shot timer caught you short. Sheriff, I'd go through a door with you any day. I tend to concentrate on getting my first shot on target effectively. I think my first shot will be the most important shot of the encounter, and my second shot the second most important. Thanks for showing us your daily carry weapon.

With the dot gun there was a distinct pause after the third shot both times. Was this due to the sight, the grip, or some other thing?

Man, why couldn't I have worked under a guy like you?!? I'm done now but I sure worked under some lousy Chiefs! Either political or tech jerks but none of them knew shit about guns...training...nothing. One of them allowed a 41 or 44 magnum, but not a 45 ACP. Because he thought the 45 ACP was too powerful...no joke🤣😆🤣

Red dots… recreational shooting or hunting is fine, but not for personal protection. I’m not betting my life on anything that requires batteries. I don’t want to BE dead because my batteries GO dead.

    • @johndilday1846
      @johndilday1846 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I understand your reasoning, but that’s why I have suppressor height sights on my carry gun with a red dot. I check my pistol red dot every day, and change the battery every 3 months, which is about the amount of time the battery lasts on my DPP with a 2.5 MOA dot. I switched to using a red dot as I got older and my eyes changed. I do better with the dot, sigh.
