Matt: Thanks for all of the content on reloading. I was always intimidated by the thought of it, but seeing you do it makes me think it's within my reach.
It's easy. First round I ever loaded, I was afraid to shoot....... but once you do a bit, it gets easier. Biggest thing is attention to detail and consult multiple manuals to verify charges in case there's a typo in one.
Years ago I used to make something similar for a .45 Colt, but when I got older and got a bit more financially flush (and lazy) I just started buying the CCI ones for 9mm and .357/.38. I don’t use enough of them to worry about the cost.
Good video Sheriff Matt, we have copperheads, rattlesnakes and cottonmouths here in NC I worked up a snakeshot load a couple years ago in 38 special and 45 colt they work great👍
I made these years ago and used the same basic concept, just didn't crimp them. Then I found the commercial shot cups they only make those in 38 and 44 so if you want shot in 41 or 32 or? you have to do this process. I got my shot by cutting open a few 12 gauge shells so I didn't have to buy a bag. I shot a paperback novel and compared it to the CCI and the penetration was about equal.
@@SheriffMattOller speer shot capsules are about a quarter a piece, I found they gave tighter groups (4 inch barrel) and didn't leave as much garbage in the bore. . It comes down to each individuals choice and budget. you seem to shoot a lot of them from a short revolver so your way works, I still have a bunch of shot capsules that I bought 30 years ago, I don't live the same place you do so my needs are different.
@@elund408 it seems the only way you can get ahead these days is if your loading stuff bought years ago......... My powders mostly bear $15 or so dollar price tags........ that same pound of powder is nearly $50 today......... Shameful.
Its your property brother and your animals and family. I Agree 100%. I used to load the same in 45 colt, I used 444 marlin cases trimmed and fire formed to the cylinder and then Bullseye and a serious charge of shot. I think 200 to 250 grains worth. Close range they were great.
@@SheriffMattOllertitegroup is my favorite pistol powder. A little goes a long way. You can load enough ammo to last a long time with just a pound or two. Aloha! 🤙🏽
You can also cut your shot cards from a 12-pack drink box a little thinner but it is waxed and works very well as well

I have done similar loads .
Found 8.5 or 9 shot has a better effect.
Thank you sir. I look forward to every video you make. You are my new favorite channel.

Thanks Sheriff.. for sharing your knowledge on all things good.

Good advice. Never thought about reloading bird shot or using a short barrel revolver. interesting.
Thank you for the shared information and the not shared, Sheriff. Well thought out and presented. Valued information sir.
I'll bet your boat trips suffer a bit this summer! You have the gun video bug now! Great Video!
Learning to reload is on my bucket list.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming.

The shot capsules are expensive and unnecessary. I have opened #8 shot shells in the past, before I had bags of 7.5 on hand.

Great tutorial, to heck with the high priced CCI's!
Great video, those look like effective loads. No poisonous snakes around here, but probably work mice of I bait them in.
Trail boss powder would be excellent for this. Too bad it’s unavailable for the most part
A lot of good powders and components are unobtainable these days........... it's a true shame.
Happy to find your channel. You're a fine gentelmen.
I have found that the commercial .22 LR snake shot rounds are not very effective. Probably not enough pellets?
I think they're #12 shot........ that would be closer to powder than pellets.
It's a great load for hunting wood bees off the deck. Actually pretty fun.
I love snakes but I agree with everything you have said. That’s a great idea making your own and probably save a bunch of money over the factory
Thanks for the information. No snake problems where I live. Cool video.
I love watching handsome Sherriff Matt's TH-cam videos. Keep up the excellent work buddy!...;-)
awesome video thanks
👍😎
Ha great idea! But I don’t reload so I cheated and bought the Judge! I get mice don’t see many snakes in PNW! off the tractor! 👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Sounds like your son wants to control a completely different form of pest
If it's on the property and venomous, it's a goner !!
Just don't forget Sheriff?..... The Wildlife Code of Missouri, outlaws all activities. Then..... it gives permission for some activities....
What specific powder do you use I understand not giving us exact load

Got to love titegroup from 380acp, 9mm, 38Spl and even light load 357mag @@SheriffMattOller
Snakes are protected animals in Missouri. lol
And? I ain't never seen one wearing body armor......
👍👍 I hate snakes 🐍 also
The value of a snake? Uh, thad be about four-fiddy.
LOL......depends on your view........🤣🤣
G'morning Sheriff. If it's too big to put on a hook for Bluegills then it's a snake! Bang! p. s. "yeah...and I traced that snake...so back off Jr."
