UPDATE: Shoei has just announced that there will soon be SRL 2 adaptor plate that will allow owners of the previous Neotec 2's comms to use it with the new Neotec 3! Here's the full written review of the Shoei Neotec 3, which will be constantly updated as testing continues: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/helmets/shoei-neotec-3-review
I've had two Neotecs (one got damaged in a crash) and currently use a Neotec II. I'm looking at replacing it next year as it's getting old now and this will definitely be top of the list. Thanks for the excellent review.
Thank you sir! Your time is impeccable! I'm about to change the WROST helmet i've ever had (Schuberth C5) and i was going for the Neotec... and this was perfect! Already called my pusher!
I have used Shoei flip fronts since they came out now using Neotec 2 I find I get steaming up at low temperature with vents closed, to stop this I put 8 or 10 3mm holes in the chin skirt and this cures the problem without increasing the draught. These helmets are the best I have used thanks for a great review.
As a fellow Glasses wearer (with anti glare) and Neotec 2 owner, I use the muc-off anti mist product to clean my specs before going for a ride, but be careful to buff them well or they can smear. Using the same product on the inside of the visor also helps. There are a couple of old tricks from days prior to visor products... 1. Use a fine smear of dishwashing liquid on your specs and buff to remove smears, use the same on the inside of the visor. This works, but does not last long. 2. Use spray on furniture polish on the outside of the visor. This is outstanding at making water bead and clear from the visor. I think there is silicon in the polish that allows this to happen, but again, always buff well after application as it can cause smears and riding at night a bit twinkly with oncoming headlights.
You do such excellent reviews. I've said it in previous comments, but I worked in riding gear retail for many years and these are exactly the kind of ideas I picked up over that time. Things like weight vs aerodynamics for example, the fitting advice, the noise levels vs fairings and earplugs, all good stuff. I also always offered to help install the pinlocks that came with helmets and instructed customers pretty much exactly the same way you do - many don't ever even realize the eccentric pinlock pins. Remembering that is also good, since if the insert loosens over time, the silicon seal between the insert and the main visor can start to leak. When it does, moist air will get between the layers, and then even the best ventilation won't get in and demist your vision. One thing I would add is that the pinlock insert is a very soft material, so I always recommended to never use coarse stuff like kitchen paper towels. In fact, because the insert is hydrophilic, it's practically impossible to wipe it dry anyway, so it's best to just dab it with a soft cloth and then air dry it. A Shoei replacement pinlock is about 40€, so keeping it scratchless saves a bit of money. I always felt the Neotec II was an excellent helmet! What I would have liked to see was Shoei looking into slight improvements to the chin bar closure. As it was it was already extremely good, but having fitted it to probably hundreds of heads, in *some* cases the chin bar might not fully lock on both sides. Most commonly this could happen with customers with quite wide faces, and/or if the customer was a little bit "timid" in closing the bar. The bar would be extremely reliable if either one used both hands to close it, supporting the helmet from behind while closing with the other hand, *or* if one was brisk enough with one hand, closing it in one quick motion that made the engagement of the latches positive. A hesitant motion with some people might leave the latch on one side unengaged. To be absolutely clear, the Neotec was no worse in this than any other helmet. Some other helmets I've seen even had enough flex in the chin bar as to allow either of the latches to entirely miss the tab on one side. It's just that I feel this is a really important part of modular helmets, so it should be as reliable as possible.
Thanks so much for this, and good call on the Pinlock drying. Yes - I've had some modular lids that needed a positive lock. The Neotec 3 is very good (as is the AGV Tour Modular I found). All the best, John
@@bennettsbikesocial Heh, thank you! I feel like a parrot because I get to say this sort of stuff in nearly every video. I've also loved the industry exposes and testing content, they are absolutely mint stuff. My last year in retail I must have been an odd salesperson who just goes off on rants and tangents on a myriad of topics about ECE standards, fits, earplugs, visor materials, waterproof liner construction techniques and care strategies and ohh what not. :D
@@AleksiJoensuu It's a relief to know that there are people out there who have the buyers' backs - who will help them when it comes to choosing what's best for them, so thank YOU!
@@bennettsbikesocial Kind of the same thing I said about you folks, like "You make videos as if you'd make more money if customers would be safer and happier so they could ride more! Aha!" It's the same thing in retail. Sure, some might be after a quick buck, but honestly people get into biking for a long time if they're safe and enjoy it, and they will remember who served them well. My favourites were the customers who came in with absolutely destroyed helmets and gear, but still walking on their own feet. Had a tiny wisp of a young woman come in once. She was a semi-pro drag racer. Walked up and said "I crashed in a race last week. Bike is mangled, this helmet is absolutely wrecked, the ambulance crew had to cut off the leather suit you guys sold me. But all I have is this small bruise on my right knee. So I need another set for next race season. I think the neck brace is still fine."
Although BBS is a commercial driven enterprise i have to say no other insurer goes as far to improve the safety, quality of kit and sometimes great bike reviews as Bennetts do. You all deserve so much kudos for the way you go about your work and the benefit to us riders when sharing your knowledge and experience. Michael Mann may have got the project off the ground but he , you and other colleagues need to take a collective bow to the invisible applause i suspect many bikers like me would give you ...given the chance. Well done John to you and all the team.
I stopped riding for a period between 2018 and 2024 and was silly enough to leave my Neotec 2 in the shed in my very very hot home country. I actually gave it to my gardener when i gave him my NMAX but he diskt want it and so left it behind. When i asked him about it because i wanted to know the size he dug it out of the shed. The helmet was purchased in 2016 I think. By 2024 the entire interior lining had disintegrated, i mean a pile of dust and nothing more. I was going to buy a new liner and use it as a spare. This channel has educated me to just discard it. The styrofoam seems 100%, so does the outer layer. But seeming ok and being ok can be vastly different. How many of you have thogjt about replacing your helmet due to age?
Regarding anti-fog for your specs, my optician recommended using Hoya Clear-it Anti-fog wipes. Contrary to what the name implies, it isn't a pack of wipes but a single cloth treated with something or other to stop glasses fogging. It costs about £5 or £6. The optician said it should last a few months, but I've been using mine for over a year and it's still doing it's job. I always clean my glasses first with a good cleaner, then breathe on the lens, give it a wipe with the Hoya cloth, treat each side of each lens. The treatment lasts the full day, and continues working the following day providing I've not had to clean the lens again.
Cracking review, very informative and comprehensive. Nice work!! After over 25 years of riding I finally got my first Shoei earlier this year, an NXR2. By far the best quality, best fitting and most comfortable helmet I've ever owned ... also the most expensive. Guess you get what you pay for .....
Thank you for all you do for our motorcycle community, greatly appreciate all of your efforts. I have a Neotec II and like you, wear glasses and condensation is a concern. And like you, I keep it cracked open to the first position although during occasion, I wish there was a second, more open position, but after the first click, it rattles and is disconcerting. Be and ride safe.
Thanks for a great unbiased review John. I have a Shoei ryd, excelent helmet. The Neotec 3 looks virtually flawless. Although i wouldn't be doing enough riding, to justify the price tag. So i opted for an LS2 strobe 2. 22.06 approved. Three shell sizes, all for around £100 or so in plain colours.
Great review! When discussing helmet weight, it should be said that the Schuberth C5 weight includes the weight of the built in com speakers which most riders will add. So it’s weight advantage over the Shoei will increase.
My Neotec 2 is getting a bit loose after more than 100K km, so I was waiting for this. It seems it is now finally possible to open the visor by just a small gap. Great when you wear glasses and commute in foul weather as you are demonstrating. Thank for the review John!
Cheers! As @stocks7765 says, you could replace the cheek pads in the Neotec 2 to potentially improve the fit, but if you can afford it, the Neotec 3 is a genuinely worthy upgrade. All the best, John
Fantastic review I love my neotec 2 and have been waiting for the 3. I did wonder what the difference would be as I thought the neotec 2 was and still is a good quality helmet. Had my neotec 2 for a year and a half so maybe something I get next year. Love the reviews and thank you
Thanks for an excellent and comprehensive review. Just back from a bike rally where someone managed to drive a car over my Neotech II !!! So, now looking to replace it quickly and your review has helped me with that decision.
Great review as always John. I have a Shoei Neotech 2 with SRL2 Comms. I've only had it for several months so I'm still enjoying it a lot. I will definitely look at the Neotech3 when it's time to replace my helmet.
Shoei has just announced that there will soon be SRL 2 adaptor plate that will allow owners of the previous Neotec 2's comms to use it with the new Neotec 3!
Great review. Looks like they have addressed two of the three main issues I have with the Neotec 2. No ability to open the visor a crack, and the sunshield doesn't quite come down far enough. The other is fitment of a non Sena system and that looks about the same. From a marketing perspective I get it, but it is annoying that helmet manufacturers tie themselves to a brand rather than configuring helmets for communications more generically.
I wore Shoei helmets for more than a decade. I also used and loved my Cardo comm units during that time. When Shoei went to the dedicated Sena comms, it was time to make a change. Cardo did and still does make a better comm unit and I decided to switch helmets rather than switch comms. I would love to come back to Shoei but won't happen until they give us back the choice of what comm units to use.
I bought a Neotec 3 in anthracite metallic gloss from Moto Legends ….it is a bloody amazing lid , drop dead gorgeous in this colour and the new Sena SRL3 is a massive improvement over the SRL2 fitted in my GT AIR 2. It’s so well assembled using premium materials and is extremely quiet ( riding a Pan America and Fat Bob 117 ) , yes it’s an expensive but as with all the top helmets out there , you pay for quality.
Only thing I dislike about my Neotec 2 is that the top vent lets bugs in when opened. I hate the feeling of a small insect crawling about my head so i removed the sliding cover and glued some netting over what are quite large holes before refitting the cover. Wonder if the Neotec 3 will have the same issue.
What you didn't mention was how the design of the area just to the rear of the bottom edge of the helmet (near backside of the visor, bottom part), compared with version 2, thus helping reduce air turbulence and noise.
Great review, looks like an excellent lid as usual from Shoei. One great thing about the Neotec 3 is the deal you can get on the last of the Neotec 2s .... which I did a couple of months ago!
Excellent review and information here! Thank you. I like to turn my head to see what’s around me before changing lanes. So, for now, I’ll stick to my Arai Corsair. ❤😊
For sorting out fogging of glasses, try the "The Body Doctor AB Mask Anti-Fog Cloth", found at Boots, Superdrug etc. I was struggling with fog, but each time I ride, give the lenses a wipe with this, and at least for the day I have no issues. Important to follow directions (mist the lens, and then wipe) for longer lasting effect. Thanks for the great content, ride safe.
Great review as always. Good to see that Shoei has addressed some of the shortcomings of the 2. The drop-down visor coverage was poor and I’ve found that I get a draft and therefore noise too just below my ear, hopefully new interior has cured that. One area that I think they have definitely missed is the pinlock coverage, still protects a lot less of the visor than some others, HJC are particularly good at this. My Neotec 2 also seems to hoover up bugs and invites them to tap dance on the top of my head. I’ve mod’d mine but a fly screen would have been good.
Hi John ,using the below vid removed the top vent a put a bit of mesh from a bug net between the vent and the helmet. Works a treat but obviously cleaning it is going to be a bit of a ball ache. Paul m.th-cam.com/video/4cCUU5uFEQ8/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUMTmVvdGVjIDIgYnVn
Thank you for this review. I am considering this helmet, but I hate SENA intercoms. I wish my favorite helmet company didn't form a relationship with my least favorite com company.
Interesting. Worn Arai for 38 years, nil probs. Rx7V evo bought feb this year, felt fine in shop, riding, felt like head in a tight vice. Gave up with it an tried a shoei xspr pro, Wow night an day comfort all day long, absolutely love it.
If youve never tried a flip up helmet, they are fantastic. You can still do sporty riding,, very low windnoise, and the ability to full open at the lights for more air is just amazing. 2 Niggles with the Neotec 2, there is no city visor opening position, where it lets just a whistle of air through. And the fact that they have built it specifically for SENA units is a big downer.
Biggest competition is the HJC RPHA 91. It is quiet. The flip up mechanism is better because it is close fitting to the helmet and not a sail. The sun visor is multi adjustable. And it is cheaper.
Comprehensive review but i really disagree about weight not being a crucial factor. Ive ridden over 50 years and recently developed neck pain. I changed from helmets weighing 1600g+ to Shoei NXR at about 1300g. Im now enjoying riding again and hope to carry on for many years. Id like a flip front helmet but 1700g+ rules it out.
Just purchased one while on holiday in Japan. 😊 Great fit.. was too excited that I forgotten about the bluetooth! Will find a Cardo in Singapore. Your reviews definately influenced me 😂
I opened my Google news feed today and saw 3 articles in a single scroll on this lid today, obviously the NDA cleared today! I knew I was only going to check out the Johns review. Looks like a cracking helmet, I'm not arsed with the flip front, generally prefer a fixed chin guard but a lot of features I like are found in flip fronts, the GT Air 3 sounds very tempting. Sadly a bit of a stretch on my budget but we will see.
Another excellent and honest review. I have the Neotec 2 and do not like the SENA comms, and stated I would not buy another Shoei if they continue to deal with Sena, so thats a disappointment.
@@bennettsbikesocial i had nothing but trouble with the Sena SRL, keep failing, multiple replacements then the poor quality audio and constant freezing/crashing. Pitta;y as I really likes Shoei, they should offer comms from multiple vendors not lock into just one vendor.
I had the SRL 2 (in a gt air 2)they were junk coms, distortion, clicking when using intercom etc...I changed to the SRL mesh it's much better so far. @@Getting-On
I was actually planning to purchase a Neotec 2 and pass my Nexx Vilitur helmet to my wife. First time heard the 3rd edition. Definitely will look out for it.
Nice helmet. I have the NT1 and had to mod the chin section to take my Gopro. Isn’t it time that helmet manufacturers provided a solution for gopros with composite lids?
I've got a SHOEI heed and my last two lids were neotecs (1st gen) so was interested to see if the neotec 3 was any good as wasn't a fan of the neotec 2 ...just didnt seem to gel with it. This new Neotec3 looks like a worthy upgrade although my neotec still feels plush next to alot of other makes and models of helmet inc. my newish Xlite carbon flip up ( can be ridden with the chin piece up unlike the shoei) which is nice but not the quality of the Shoei. I look forward to trying a Neotec 3 on! Thanks for the in-depth review 😁👍🏍🏁
I bought the Neotech 2 for a good price. The Cardo boom does not fit flush in the boom gap, making the padding pop out it’s tab. Not a problem with the helmet on, but it is visable when it is of.
Excellent review…considering the new EC safety standard-06 , the larger sun-visor , better Polsters to an already comfortable, plush interior, etc, an improvement over my Neotec2. I wonder if you can replace the neotec 2 sun-visor (too short) with the neotec 3 sun-visor? Probably not…if I were to buy a new helmet, I would definitely go for the extra money, since the neotec 3 has the latest safety standard. The Schubert is also a great helmet and depending on head shape usually one or the other will fit more comfortably.
The main competition is HJC RPHA 91. Value for money. The way the chin bar pulls close into the helmet when open is brilliant. The multi adjustable sun visor is great and spare parts like new cheek pads in few years will be cheaper as well. Quiet and comfortable.
Great review. I find Shoei helmets so comfortable and I’ve been looking at the Neotec for touring - much easier at passport control etc but why have they put their eggs in the Sena basket? Whether you’re Cardo or Sena surely it makes sense to leave it possible to fit both properly? I had to avoid the GT Air 2 because my Cardo wouldn’t fit. Not sensible Shoei.
Thanks for an honest review. I'm still using my original Neotec and will need to replace it next year; the Neotec 3 is top of my list. I prefer the Sena 50S to the integrated systems and found it easy to mount on my gen 1 Neotec; will it also clamp onto the new model? I also wear glasses and find the Zeiss Anti-Fog Kit works reasonably well, but you have to use it sparingly and be careful to avoid smears.
Another great review cheers, just a note on antifog sprays. I use muc off premium anti fog treatment on my specs, and fing it works even though I have anti glare on them. I was dubious at first as it's £10 ish for a 32 ml bottle, but, having only bought 2 bottles in 3 years I can't complain. And my wife and kids use it. My specs generally need cleaning before it wears off, so no idea how long it would last for. Also I find the spray puts far too much on, you end up wiping loads of excess off, so now I just moisten a cloth and wipe on. Once applied leave a few mins then buff off any excess. Give it a try. Cheers Lee
I move from the Shark to the AGV because I developed a neck problem and the AGV was much lighter. It makes a difference if you have compromised cervical bones!
The only thing wrong to me with my Neotec II is the visor - that I can't just ever so slightly crack it, and that the tab is on the left side. Might encourage me to retire the II a little earlier than I otherwise would. Not a fan of the pinlock insert, I too wear glasses and with it installed there are just too many glass surfaces. I only get a little bit of fogging ever when stopped and that's easily managed by opening the visor to the first detent, which is also fine at low speeds though a minimal crack would be even better. But I also don't use the nose deflector, if it's hot and I want air on my face I'll just open the visor.
Hoping the new Neotec 3 has a better tint on the inner visor, as I have to wear sunglasses too when riding in low sun. And the SLR 3 has more voice commands, as the SLR 2 has alot going on with only 3 very small buttons which is a pain. One thing missing on the Neotec 3 i see is a filter/mesh on the top vent, as on the Neotec 2 large inserts can go through.
Brilliant review❤ Looking at an additional lid that's more town and shop friendly - PITA doing the glove and helmet juggling with my NXR2. Love and trust Shoei since getting my 1st - a Wakai rep' X8-R.
Another great review John. I actually had a Neotec 2 multi coloured so not cheap & liked it. But decided to go " cool " brought a Harley so brought an open faced. Two bad moves there and the Harley & helmet both got sold very quickly. Now back on a GS but being a cheap skate I recently brought a C4 Pro from cut price on line seller. Its proven to be another mistake as having only worn it a couple of times not feeling comfortable. Might mean a NT3 multicoloured Christmas present to myself then John. Ted
Great review! Just what I was looking for:) I've had the Neotec II for years now and never really felt like it was worth the money. The spots of rain getting through, though rare, I find unacceptable for a €699 helmet IMO. The visor doesn't stay in my preferred position at highway speeds (simply closes itself unexpectedly). The visor tab being on one side, instead of centred, always annoyed me. And it's noisy. BUT I have always loved the fit and build quality.... It seems that some of my niggles have been addressed with this new one. Just not sure it's enough.
I also hate the visor position of the Neotec II. I never had problems with the first Neotec, and i loved the little lever on the left side to open up the visor just that little extra from the "closed" position.. So it might be that some of the issues with the second generation are fixed again.
I will add my 2 cents. I bought a Neotech 2 a bit over a year ago. In my opinion it was a terrible helmet. I wasn't at the end of the block when it was apparent that it was a very noisy helmet, unacceptable in fact even with earplugs. The visor only had a latch on the left side so the right side didn't shut tight. I put my Nolan back on for the rest of the ride home. Very disappointed. I just got another Nolan to replace the tired old one. The Nolans are far better helmets for even less money. I thought I was moving up to a premium helmet with the Neotech, wasn't the case.
@@karlbishop7481that's weird. Neotec 2 is well known for being one of the most quiet helmets, and x-lite exactly the opposite. May I ask what is your ride?
@@karlbishop7481 maybe it was just not really compatible with the riding position of the bike? Cause I have a hjc rpha 90s carbon and it was incredible quiet on my old africa twin, but really noisy on my wife's cbr 650r. Now I'm riding a bmw s1000xr and it is more noisy but still not as much as on the cbr. Also have a scorpion exo r1 evo and found it not as quiet as everyone says.. I'm really considering now a x-lite x-903 ultra carbon. shoei gt-air 3 will be out next month but I think the weight (1700g ) is a deal breaker for me.
I have two Neotec 2’s and have just brought a Neotec 3 and first impressions are its SO much better. The fit is better, the internal sun visor seems huge compared to the old one, all the seals around the bottom sit closer. Well worth the upgrade.. Only thing that really annoys me and it was the same for the 2 is new helmet launch but another two months for the coms apparently
I've tracked down the wind noise on the NEOTEC II, it's coming from around the sun visor lever and the visor hinge area. With earplugs in (I never ride without them), I hear it slightly more on the left, sun visor lever side, than the right. On the Schuberth, they have a different design for the visor hinge so it is more flush with the helmet and the sun visor lever is elsewhere. This eliminates a lot of the wind noise (I ride fully-faired bikes). On the Sena SRL_MESH for the NEOTECH II, when the FM radio is playing you cannot receive GPS instructions from Waze, and some other GPS systems, on an *Android* phone. You can on an _Apple_ phone as Waze on the Apple has a setting to change the Bluetooth system. I would be interested to see if this is the case on the new Intercom system. Also, for some reason, the sound level on the FM radio only has been reduced which makes it difficult to hear at motorway speeds with earplugs in.
Interesting to hear that I’m not the only person to get a higher wind noise level in my left ear…. I thought it was just me! I hadn’t thought about the sun visor lever causing it ….
Very important to try before buy. I tried a Shouberth c5 and it felt like a torture device. The worst hemet in the shop. The one i did manage to get on my head (pain free), was too big. Getting the Shoie neo tec2 was a no brainer for me. I'm not loyal to brands, for me it just felt right.
I assume the shape of the helmet hasn’t changed from the 2? I have a round shape head and found the 2 didn’t fit even after the dealer changed various pads. Found the HJC rpha 91 best fit and some innovative features that top range helmets lack. Also in testing it came out the quieter helmet.
I just got a new Neotec 2 a little less than two years ago, so it'll be a while before I'm in the market for one of these. My girlfriend's Neotec 2 is a lot older than mine, and the Neotec 3 sounds like a great update overall, so it won't take much convincing for her to get one. We both live in New Zealand, so I'm guessing the Neotec 3 won't be available here until early 2024, and it'll be at a "sell your spare kidney" price point.
I'm thinking about buying the Neotec 3... as I find my Scorpion Exo Tech Evo(4 months old) noisy. This is a shame as I like the helmet other than it is noisy to me, even with PinLock Ear Plugs. Thanks for a great review.
Great honest review as always. I'm currently using the Shoei GT Air 2 and AGV Sportmodular. I've fitted the Sena SRL2 intercom and I like how well it fits. My next helmet was probably going to be the Neotec 3 but I'm a bit disappointed that Shoei had to redesign the intercom, as that might put off some of the potential customers. Have you made a similar video about the AGV Sportmodular? I'd be interested to hear your opinion since you mentioned it disappointed you.
Shoei has just announced that there will soon be SRL 2 adaptor plate that will allow owners of the previous Neotec 2's comms to use it with the new Neotec 3! I really wasn't a fan of the Sportmodular when I reviewed it, but did find the Tourmodular to be good: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/helmets/agv-tourmodular-flipfront-helmet-review
I am very interested in this helmet, as my Neotec2 is getting old, but likely in an year or two. I hate the sound quality on the SLR2 though. I do value the integrated solution, without silly stuff sticking out.
Do you have any problem with condensation? I’ve ridden with with the Neotec 3 for about a month now, since the beginning of February. The condensation is terrible. The visor outside the Pinlock visor quickly gets covered in a heavy layer of moisture which can’t be seen through. The Pinlock visor is too small, so the areas of peripheral vision are completely blocked. The sun visor and my glasses both mist up very quickly. I had to ride with the visor open a couple of clicks to keep my vision clear. Apart from that, it’s a lovely helmet. It’s very comfortable and quiet. It just a pity I can’t see anything!
Great review. I believe that comments about noise are likely to be because the lid hasn’t been fitted with the right interior padding. Get yours fitted by an expert helmet fitter and you should get a very quiet lid.
Thanks for this review. A few months ago i bought two neotec 2's plus intercoms for me and my wife after watching reviews etc, I'd rate them as ok apart from intercom is a bit annoying, keeps cutting out mid conversation telling me to 'say a command' and has to be reset..also they weren't cheap ..so imagine my joy at hearing that this helmet neo 3 is 'better in every way than the neotec 2' ..i think I'll leave reviews alone for a while and just go with what i fancy 😄
Great review. I'm using an original Neotec - it's not that old, I bought it after the Neotec II came out! - and am now looking at buying a 3.... my question is, given that my own Neotec is a perfect fit, am I safe to assume that if I buy a 3 in the same size online, it will fit equally well? (I don't live anywhere near a dealer so would be convenient...)
I am a Shoei fanboy. I’ve got an RF-SR, RF-1400, and a Neotec 2. My fave is the RF-SR. It is the lightest, vents the best, and most comfortable. Honestly, I find the Neotec to be very clunky. The new HJC RPHA is the best modular atm.

I'm happy I watched this!! I like your trick of throwing all the pads in a helmet bag before washing.
Aha!"
It's the same thing in retail.
Thank you SO much for this. It's our MD, Vince, who really deserves the praise though for giving us the tools to do this! All the very best, John
Another great (and as is so important) unbiased review, thanks John.
Thanks very much! Cheers, John
What a great review! So glad i bought this helmet! i big thanks for that!
Excellent, thanks!
Try Foggy Wipes. I’m a glasses wearer and it’s been a game changer for me.
Hoya make filters for photographic lenses. They KNOW glass.
I’ve loved shoei helmets. I have a Schubert c3 that I’ve had for several years. Great video
Very nice review. You covered all the bases
Excellent comprehensive review! Thank you!!
Thanks very much! Cheers, John
Thank you! Great Review and helps me definitely to make a decision! Greets from Germany
Thanks for a grreat review. Having had a Multitec, Neotec and currently a Neotec2 this will be the natural progression for me 👍
Cracking review, very informative and comprehensive. Nice work!! After over 25 years of riding I finally got my first Shoei earlier this year, an NXR2. By far the best quality, best fitting and most comfortable helmet I've ever owned ... also the most expensive. Guess you get what you pay for .....
Thanks very much!
Beautiful piece of essential, no critical equipment. Nice job John. Can’t wait until they get here to the US.
Thanks very much! Cheers, John
Thanks so much! The Neotec 3 is a definite improvement. Cheers, John
Very well done video on both neotechs! Informational & valuable Thank You!
My Neotec 2 is getting a bit loose after more than 100K km, so I was waiting for this. It seems it is now finally possible to open the visor by just a small gap. Great when you wear glasses and commute in foul weather as you are demonstrating. Thank for the review John!
Just change the cheek pads and your good to go.....

Brilliant review, providing great information really makes a difference when choosing such an important piece of biking kit 👏
Great review, always informative and relevant, even from the other side of the Globe. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Cheers, John
Thanks very much!
Excellent! Really glad you're getting on well with it. Cheers, John
Sadly not! A good feature of the Schuberth. Cheers, John
Excellent and comprehensive - great end to end review mate. I'm going to get one but first I need to save £'s for a while longer. Many thanks, Wm..
Cheers! John
Thanks! Have just ordered one...
Cheers!!! I struggle with my specs fogging so I’ll give this a go
@@calbrock6302 no prob, hope it works well for you. 👌🏼
I have this lid in the blue, I ride all year round and its by far the best helmet I have had in 10 years of riding.
Fantastic! All the best, John
Great review! Thanks for the excellent review.
Thanks very much! How did you mod your lid? Cheers, John
Hi John ,using the below vid removed the top vent a put a bit of mesh from a bug net between the vent and the helmet. Works a treat but obviously cleaning it is going to be a bit of a ball ache.

@@hartley383 This is brilliant, thank you!
I notice on shoei website they have added an insect filter, not sure if it helps enough tho
Thank you for this review. I am considering this helmet, but I hate SENA intercoms. I wish my favorite helmet company didn't form a relationship with my least favorite com company.
Very informative. Thank you very much.
The Neotec 3 visor rectifies that, but the OEM comms are still Sena. Still, if you want different you can get it on there. Cheers, John
Biggest competition is the HJC RPHA 91.
It is quiet.
The flip up mechanism is better because it is close fitting to the helmet and not a sail.
The sun visor is multi adjustable.
And it is cheaper.
Yeah the HJC is never mentioned, i am suspicious about that…
Comprehensive review but i really disagree about weight not being a crucial factor. Ive ridden over 50 years and recently developed neck pain. I changed from helmets weighing 1600g+ to Shoei NXR at about 1300g. Im now enjoying riding again and hope to carry on for many years. Id like a flip front helmet but 1700g+ rules it out.
Great review. Crap JUST bought my Neotec last week and didn’t realize the 3 was released although I still don’t see it on Shoei’s US website. 😢
Bought a silver and orange Neotec 2 last year. They are expensive helmets, but excellent in every way. You get what you pay for.
Just purchased one while on holiday in Japan. 😊
Great fit.. was too excited that I forgotten about the bluetooth!
Will find a Cardo in Singapore.
Your reviews definately influenced me 😂
Thanks! How was the fit? Japanese lids are a different shape for that market.
The fit is very good. Maybe I am an Asian too 😊
I opened my Google news feed today and saw 3 articles in a single scroll on this lid today, obviously the NDA cleared today!
Thanks so much! Cheers, John
Another excellent and honest review. I have the Neotec 2 and do not like the SENA comms, and stated I would not buy another Shoei if they continue to deal with Sena, so thats a disappointment.
That's a shame, though you can always fit your own comms. Cheers, John
@@bennettsbikesocial i had nothing but trouble with the Sena SRL, keep failing, multiple replacements then the poor quality audio and constant freezing/crashing. Pitta;y as I really likes Shoei, they should offer comms from multiple vendors not lock into just one vendor.

I was actually planning to purchase a Neotec 2 and pass my Nexx Vilitur helmet to my wife. First time heard the 3rd edition. Definitely will look out for it.
Great info thanks will go for the gt air 3
Will have the review out for that as soon as poss. Cheers, John
Great review. Just purchased a Neotec 2 with SRL Mesh for £599 seems that deals are available with the release of the Neotec 3
I also wear glasses and find the Zeiss Anti-Fog Kit works reasonably well, but you have to use it sparingly and be careful to avoid smears.
i didn't find the neotec 2 to be all that quiet in comparison to my C5. Hopefully the 3 has rectified this.
It's definitely quieter than the Neotec 2
@bennettsbikesocial No harm in picking one up. Wife might so otherwise, though 😅.
Many thanks.
Cheers
Lee
Excellent - thanks! Added to the list for a product test video
Excellent review!
What I'm most looking forward to is their 22-06 version of the Hornet ADV. I wonder if it will have a flip-down sunvisor.
Sena integrated comms is a deal breaker for me.
That's the main selling point of the helmet!
when is the neo tec 3 out on stores?
Brilliant review❤
Looking at an additional lid that's more town and shop friendly - PITA doing the glove and helmet juggling with my NXR2.
Ted
Sorry to hear that, but it's a process we all go through! All the best, John
Great review!
May I ask what is your ride?

shoei gt-air 3 will be out next month but I think the weight (1700g ) is a deal breaker for me.
That's great to hear (apart from the comms delay of course!). Cheers, John
I will edit my comment about coms I’ve just ordered them from the very shop that 2 days ago said 2 months…. Who knows…………..
Brilliant review - on launch day - thank you

Is it possible to get this or any other lid custom painted to match my bike (GS 1300 Aurelious green metallic).
Any lid can be painted, but get it done by someone experienced, who knows how to not affect the safety of it. Cheers, John
Excellent review, thanks!
I'll be reviewing the SRL3 as soon as I can get hold of one. Cheers, John
Another great review John, wife and I both wear a Neotec 2. Can I persuade her to update……??????
Good review esp about water leakage which I have had in other good lids...
Great review. I believe that comments about noise are likely to be because the lid hasn’t been fitted with the right interior padding. Get yours fitted by an expert helmet fitter and you should get a very quiet lid.
What’s the best modular you’ve tested ?
And look at that rain 😢
Glad I live in Australia nowadays 😎
No more riding to work in snow. 🎉
Bought or at least ordered one today in Anthem TC8 which comes out end of Nov. Also bought the SRL 3. £1000 is a lot of money but what price safety ?
Shoei, when will these hit the US?
Thanks for this review. A few months ago i bought two neotec 2's plus intercoms for me and my wife after watching reviews etc, I'd rate them as ok apart from intercom is a bit annoying, keeps cutting out mid conversation telling me to 'say a command' and has to be reset..also they weren't cheap ..so imagine my joy at hearing that this helmet neo 3 is 'better in every way than the neotec 2' ..i think I'll leave reviews alone for a while and just go with what i fancy 😄
Mine does that all the time. I just say CANCEL to return to the com. It can be quite annoying. Some days it does it more than others.
The new HJC RPHA is the best modular atm.
excellent review as always. Would love to see a GT Air 3 review. As I am torn between neotec 3 and GT air 3. Thanks
It's coming...
Oh nice - thank you
