  • This is a how to video on the procedure for bleeding hydraulic brakes.
I am preforming the operation on my 1954 Clark Forklift, but the steps are the same for any vehicle with hydraulic brakes.
Thanks for watching please like and subscribe!

Have bled many forklift brakrs. Fill master open bleeders on wheel cyl. Gravity works for you. Just keep master full.

Man you seem like such a chill dude. I feel like we would get along great working together. Love how easy going and mild mannered you are even when things don’t exactly go your way.
Question: What have you found to be the easiest way to lift the forklift and set it in blocks or stands? In one video it looked like you may have used the hydraulics and pushed the forks down on some wood blocks to raise the front end but I’m not sure if it just appeared that way or not.. I doubt my 2 ton Jack will even attempt to lift the front or rear of this machine (havnt tried it yet)
I have seen some guys use a hydraulic press type tool since they are low profile they can slide them under the frame of the forklift and pump them up using a hydraulic lever and then once the fork lift is high enough they set it in stands or blocks. Just curious since you have clearly had yours up in the air so frequently.

I used a small floor Jack to get one side up high enough for the first block then went to the other side and repeated. Once it was high enough for a bigger floor jack I was able to move a little quicker. Then a big bottle jack under the weight one it would fit. Very tedious work!

I put thread tape on the bleeder screw threads otherwise it will suck air through the threads and you will think the air is coming from inside the brake lines

Good idea. I have found this same thing when using a suction bleeder. One draw back to doing this job by yourself.

I don't understand why you didn't just hook the vacuum pump to the bleeder screw from the start?

Suction bleeding is not always the best way. For example, the threads around the bleeder screw can leak air causing you to think your getting air in the system that is not really there. I was also just trying to show different options someone can try. Thanks for watching!

do you have a video on how to remove the mast of the forklift? my wheels are stuck i can't get them off so that i can have access to the bleeder lines and the mast is in the way i have a tight space to work

I don’t think I did a video on the removal. I used my engine hoist to lift the mast and if I remember right there are four bolts at the bottom that need to be removed. I removed the hydraulic lines and hooked them together so the truck could still be driven without spewing hydraulic fluid everywhere. Just don’t reverse the hoses when you reconnect them to the cylinder! Good luck.

On that Harbor Freight vac gun, can other containers be attached to it? Like an oil sample bottle?

Probably, it just uses hose to hook everything to it.
