- Are you looking for a decent anime to do with games and/or gambling then look for Kaiji, No Game No Life and Akagi. Steer well clear of this one. Honestly, there is not a single redeeming feature of Liar Liar and it is quite easily the worst anime of this entire genre.
To transpire, the dire quagmire of Liar Liar requires an entire tire pyre in barb wire above a mire of gunfire. And now to retire.
Pardon me, I just wanted to see this incredible sentence with my eyes.
My brain hurts
Everything about the Star system in this sounds like a broke man's version of Kill la Kill.
Oh and it looks like every other generic anime out there.
Left field suggestion, Harukana Receive. It's a girls beach volleyball anime that's less fanservice and yuri than you'd expect, and more friendship and sports. A real odd duck that one.
It has fanservice lol
I honestly didn't even remebered this series until I saw this video.
It looked so generic that I honestly discarded faster than others discard isekais.
I agree that in this type of non-battle battle anime you either need to get people invested in the main character instead of making him a blank slate or get people invested in the games.
Even Yu Gi Oh infamous scenes like I put my dragon rider on my turtle catapult and launch it into the ceiling was outrageous enough to get me invested on what was going to happen next. Heck, take that Tennis episode of Spy x Family as an example of the bad guys cheating in creative ways while the protagonists use their superhuman abilities to cheat back.
About the race, I remember a manga with a similar competition. The winner wasn't the first to cross the finish line but rather the first to put a token in an altar or something and the protagonist had already put his the night before and was only goading the competition to cheat to learn more about them.
Definitely the wise move to drop this one quickly; it honestly makes generic isekai look good. I didn't even mention the annoying loli that turns up later.
The tennis example from spy family is such a good comparison as everyone knows the good guys are gonna win but it's so entertaining to watch that we're completely immersed and invested in the tournament.
And a great comparison with your manga as it shows how these games can really show character, both protagonist and antagonist while also be interesting to watch.
You’re a hero for sitting through hours of dogshit season after season just so you can tell me about it in an entertaining way. Underrated channel.
You should make a video on Baki next. Surely you'll be surprised.
A character (and the plot) can only be as intelligent as the author. That is why it is pretty hard to make a believable intelligent character.
If we are talking about manga on intelligence based game, i believe Liar Game is the best, the author is brainy. Unfortunately it has no anime adaptation albeit it has real action one.
Mmm, i personally don't really like NGNL tho. It usually has a clear game rule allright, but it have too many BS, suspension of disbelief and some game won awkwardly. Example: a person playing many roles, how to win (or draw on) coin toss game, materializing word game, even the chess suddenly materializing third party pieces (seriously?)
This show looks like the monkeys paw of people constantly begging for No Game No Life season 2.
I watch the video believing it was gonna be incorrect and much bullshit. Yet it brings excellent points and convince me.
The series is a bad story, but still enjoyable trash.
must be kaiba. he is the president of kaiba corp so he can do this every day.
Admit it, you have a guilty taste for poor quality anime. By the way, didn't you have your own novel or story? Something about fragments?
That is right, it should be mentioned in every video.
ABP, Always Be Plugging.
Thank you! Now i dont plan to watch this anime even more!
I expected an anime where people play Ohio chess to be more entertaining
I watched every episode and can definitively say that it's complete nonsense.
I wonder if you would enjoy log horizon? It's widely considered to be a well thought out political fantasy isekai
I reckon I have a unique take on Log horizon. It definitely started off well, the mystery, characters and world was intriguing. I particularly liked the concept of npc's becoming conscious but unable to respawn. It creates all kinds of interesting relationships and politics between them and the players. However, as time went on, the sheer amount of fluff and especially the irritating plethora of love triangles utterly wore me down. Plus the kiddy team was incredibly annoying and took way too much focus away from what we’re here for. I gave up on it midway through the second season.
Wait, they have shittier E-Card/slave game without the social commentary or self evident strategy?
Saying Kaiji is better is low, because it's completely different from anything in the genre... But don't steal from Kaiji if you don't want to be compared.
Also, using Kaiji as a background for "genius character" is a bit too nice. In three different arcs his strategy includes running to the bathroom to cry because he fucked himself over.
It seems like enjoyable trash
