THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE TO OVERLAND - DEATH VALLEY CALIFORNIA

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.พ. 2025
- Exploring Death Valley is incredible, but it’s also one of the most dangerous places in America. Today I’m setting out to explore some of the old cabins scattered across this desert. Extreme heat, flash floods, and sheer isolation can turn an adventure into a survival situation fast. Each cabin has its own story and As the day winds down, I’ll pick one to camp next to. When exploring Death Valley, Always plan ahead, carry plenty of water, and know your limits, out here, being prepared can save your life. The trail we’ll drive today connects Trona to areas deeper in the Panamint Range, reaching destinations such as Ballarat Ghost Town, Wildrose Canyon and Death Valley national park. The trail provides breathtaking views of desert valleys, rugged peaks, and occasional glimpses of wildlife like bighorn sheep, desert foxes and wild donkeys. It’s a secluded route, perfect for those seeking solitude and an authentic backcountry experience. Before heading out, always check the weather-the Panamint Range can surprise you with extreme heat, flash floods, or even snow if you're up in the higher elevations. And know your limits, this trail is remote. If something goes wrong, recovery services could take hours, even days, to reach you. Be ready for anything.

Another great video and epic adventure! Love your Tacoma! I just got back from 3 days in Death Valley and only covered a small part of it. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Enjoy watching your channel

AWESOME!! you know i love seeing DV and WOW you sure got out there// VERY MUCH APPRECIATE you turning the drone off in the Park/ I'm sure it is tempting in the less populated areas but we appreciate you keeping the wilderness wilderness/ plus the desert is full of other good drone areas as we see here...excellent burro info thanks for spreading the word and not feeding them. what a great trip... we're hiding from the cold nights for a couple more weeks, so nice you take us to the desert this way!

It’s an amazing place isn’t it? I do make sure to stay outside national Park boundaries when flying drone. Yes lots of cool places to explore that are on public land. I’d rather explore the less popular places anyways. Glad you enjoyed the video. thank you so much for watching.
Good morning my friend, thank you very much ,for all the beautiful views, God bless
Hey, thank you so much for watching. God bless you.
Great video, jonny. I definitely have to do that trail. Amazing views and so much to see. Lots of history out there. I did the spooky canyon trail this weekend and went up to the travelers' monument. Had a great time. You and Daisy stay safe out there. Take care 🙏
Thank you. Yes definitely got to go check out that trail. The views are amazing. How was spooky Canyon? Yeah, I saw you. Went to Travelers monument super awesome. I love that place. Glad you had a good time.
@jonnytacooutdoors spooky canyon is a mind trip. The way the canyon closes in. Did make me feel a little uneasy. Great experience, though. Where did you see me? I'm glad you had an adventurous weekend, Brotha! Take care🙏

Ran that trail in an almost all stocked 1988 Toyota 4×4 Truck, recently! - went all the way up to the keystone mine and many side trails along the way. Start In Trona work your way to Baker!
@@TRONA-CA pretty rough trail! Super cool you have an 88 yota! Never done Trona to Baker. You’ve given me a new trip idea.
Another great video JTO, safe travels!

My favorite part of Death Valley when my parents took us out there as kids was Racetrack!
@@albertoahumada2631 that racetrack is so cool. Thanks for watching.
Great video! And can't go wrong with Ramen. Add some pre cut bok choy, shhitake mushrooms and what ever meat you have.. perfect 🤙🏽
That sounds delicious. Thanks for watching.
Great video! My favorite part of Death Valley was the trail to the Defense mine, NW of Ballarat. I visited Death Valley for the first time in October. The Barker ranch and Geologists Cabin was pretty cool, too. 😊
@@VideosOffRoad hey thanks for watching. Never checked out that trail. I have to go check it out one of these days.
There are a couple of ways to get to the Defense mine. Bring your A game. The trail isn't always easy to see after some flooding a few years ago. It was very doable in my Jeep, though. (No lockers needed). There's a parking area big enough for 3 rigs right at the mine. @@jonnytacooutdoors
@@VideosOffRoad right on probably a cool place to camp
Seen the new Logo at the end. Looks good 👌
Thank you! Thanks for watching.
Can you do a drone flying/recording tutorial? It's awesome how you drive while also getting great shots!

These motion lights are pretty cool. Seems like an easy solution. Pretty smart with the magnets
Yeah, super cool they were great. Thanks for watching.
A great video, just good simple fun and adventure. Noodles looked yummy. What were the two sauces you added on top? I just love Daisy also.
Hoisian sauce, and Sriracha thanks for watching

Sketchy cabins, But awesome Video bro👍🏻

Death Valley is an amazing place always be prepared.
Thanks for watching
Cool, video. Must have felt weird spending the night at Barkers Ranch, I've been using those motion lights for a couple years now. I had an incident on the Swansea Trail a couple years ago so I also attached a magnetic to them and set them around ,y Jeep.. Just remember - wild life will also set them off. Harbor Freight and Amazon sells them.
@@trike4 super cool about your lights. I’d love to hear about the incident you had. Thanks for watching.
@@jonnytacooutdoors Thanks. So a couple years ago me and my pup decide to tackle the Swansea trail headed up to the Salt Tram east of Cerro Grordo ghost town. We started the climb about 1 or 2 PM - late to start the climb but I knew we were going to camp on the way up.. We found a cool spot about 5PM - we decided not to set up our tent due to a howling wind that kicked up an hour before. We spent the night inside my 2-door Jeep so you could imagine we did not get a restful sleep. About 2 AM my Husky pup sleeping on the pass seat jumped up and looking thru the windshield he started to growl. I thought maybe the he saw or heard an animal like a rabbit or deer.
Several seconds later we heard clear voices like someone walking downward on the trail - the Jeep was facing the trail so I turned on all my offroad lights. We saw nothing so I went outside thinking maybe someone broke down or was stuck up the hill - I called out but no response. This is when I got chills and returned to the Jeep. BTW, by this hour the wind had completely died down. We never got back to sleep and my Husky was jumpy the rest of the night. U-tubers Golden Gone Wheelin recently posted a video climbing this trail. I told him this was the best Swansea trail video I've seen. On their video they stop on the trail to eat lunch - this was the spot I heard the voices. 14:10 time stamp. I have had those motion lights in my garage so I got some more for the Jeep after this trip.
@@trike4 wow that’s sounds super scary. Glad you guys were safe. Thanks for sharing. Never been up in those hills but one day I need to check them out.
Hey man, love the build. What size tires are you running? I noticed you don't have a snorkel, how did you seal up your air intake since you cut your fenders?
@@jaredscott547 thank you . 35” tires . Running an aftermarket instake which pulls air through the front grille and plugged the hole in the inner fender well.
Thanks for sharing ! Have you done the Pleasant Canyon loop near Ballarat ?
Haven’t done the full loop but been up towards the cabin! Thanks for watching.
Uncle Roger just saw your ramen and just put his leg down from chair, haiyah. 😅
Thanks for watching
Bummer you didn't get to stay at Geologists Cabin. It's surprisingly nice, nicer than the one you stayed at, but smaller. I left some supplies in it when I briefly stopped there in October. 😊
Super cool of you to leave supplies. Yes I’m hoping one day I can stay at the geologist. Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate it.
The foundation was the main cabin where Charlie was captured. Dude, the Anderson Cabin is really beat and wino. Was the Russell cabin occupied? How about the Geologist Cabin?
Thanks for the information about where Charlie was captured. Tune in next week I visit another cabin. I’ve never been to the geologist cabin, only driven by it because it was occupied. Thanks for watching.
Nice video, but why is your steering wheel so bulky? It's like holding a 44oz yeti bottle.
You get a like and comment for the 395jnky shirt😊
Let’s go! Thanks for watching
I don't eat noodles often having lost 40 pounds earlier in life largely due to deleting it from my diet but it looked really good.
Smart move! Thanks for watching. Hope you are well.
watch 46:58 - 46:60 lower left hand side of the cabin , you can see Mickey pop out and say Hi.....lol
Good eye!

My hometown
Beautiful area!
I've done Death Valley to death. And I've done it with a lot of people who actually worked there over the years. It's only dangerous for really dumb people who are not prepared and make really dumb desicions like the 4 Germans who perished there.
Didn’t hear about them. Thanks for sharing.
@@jonnytacooutdoors Oh please do look up the story. You'll find that they made a heck of a lot of bad decisions. The first being that they took a one wheel drive minivan down a steep dirt road. The second being not to walk back to the Geologists cabin that they had just left after their vehicle broke down. That alone would have saved their lives. It was very tragic. A German man and his girl friend and her two children. All lost and certainly died horribly. They weren't found for over ten years.
