Thank you guys so much for coming out and helping me. When i first got in the situation i thought i was about to roll. And for the noise one of my radiator fans was loose its nice and smooth running now!
Congrats on realizing you're in over your head and calling for recovery. I nearly soiled myself in sympathetic terror. Lots of people here mocking your engine :p
You don't learn or grow if you don't push your limits, but you don't survive if you don't realize where they are. Jeep guy reached his limit and called it. He got no damage and a T-shirt, and he drove it home. I'd call it a win.
I've watched several other rescues Matt has done on this hill and every time my chair got a pucker in the center of it. This was no exception! 😱 I even had my wife watch and she just turned around and left shaking her head after just a couple minutes! No shame in calling for help Trey, especially with such a beautiful looking dog. You, your dog, and your Jeep got a chance to wheel another day with nothing but a tale of terror to tell!
Once you hit that limit, not moving is the save bet. It is not someone's ability that causes the problem, it is their confidence. Your muscles act totally different.
It cracks me up because most of my driveway looks like that, and some sections you simply can't walk up or down without putting your hands down, and an 80 year old man that could be Ed's brother drives up and down it twice a month in a stock ford f250 bullnose pulling a tandem axle utility trailer with a water tank on it. It's nuts what we get used to!
@Apocaloptimisto Stretch of 18% on my 'driveway', comes right after a switchback and is on the edge of a good 200ft drop. When it snows, 35s and lockers are about the only thing that makes it up to the property. I store my car and bike at the base of the hill with my neighbors lol, only trucks and AWD cars bother coming up, I'll be running family up and down constantly when they visit.
The Guy was by himself and his dog. With other people and another Rig being there helps out. Being by himself in that situation just adds fear and terror. He did the right thing....🤠
Smart customer asking for help before things got worse! I've been in situations that felt ok at the beginning, but things changed. Great driving, Kaulin.❤
For everyone saying the customer could have driven the Jeep out of there the truth is that the Jeep was able to be driven. But that doesn't mean the guy should, could, or would have done it. Even for experienced off road drivers, there are situations that aren't safe or advisable without a spotter. It can make a huge difference at times if a tire is going to drop another 2 or 3 inches before hitting ground or another 5 or 6 inches. The customer, his rig, and his dog are all safe to wheel another day, and there is no guarantee any of that would be true if he just went for it.
Not certain your team would ever find the client if Peanut wasn't there to point them out. Way under compensated member of the squad. As for uphill/downhill terrain. An old Professional Motocrosser once replied to the question of how he goes so fast up/down the hills. He comment was "I just think of it as level ground on a slant". Profound! Thanks for the video!
Another WOW rescue. I've seen the other rescues on this hill and this one did not lose it's intensity! Kolby did another fantastic job with the drone footage. Kaulin did a great job with his driving skill and Matt did an awesome job of overseeing that everything was done right. Love this channel and Love that MORVAIR!! The right people and equipment to do this stuff.
Old buddy needs a new starter. Mine was doing the same thing. When going up a hill the drive gear would slide back into the flexplate over and over until you got leveled back out.
That even scared the sh!t out of me just watching. Glad to see that Kolby got the drone up and working again as it gives us a greater depth of understanding of what it takes to recover broken vehicles from the worse landscapes on earth. Well done Kaulin. I'll bet you needed a drink after that one !
@@marvindebot3264 Which is hilarious, since it's worse health-wise than coffee, which is prohibited, supposedly because it's unhealthy. Religious dietary restrictions are pretty ludicrous in the modern world.
Colby did an amazing job with the drone footage and shows just how dangerous this recovery is for MOORVAIR! The Moorvair is so awesome working on this steep incline! That Jeep sounded terrible like a rod was knocking in the engine! Good video and content! Good job Kaulin!
that was a light rattle/rubbing sound, uneven timing, also it sounded very far up front. my ears say fan blade hitting a shroud because something came loose. a rod/mains/lifter/rocker/valve/flex plate would be pretty even timing and change with rpm. although broken valve springs and cracked flex plates can be tricky for many, even me at times.
This kind of video is what got me hooked on this channel! Watching the builds and the amazing concepts brought too life is fascinating and can be fun to watch, however you can't beat the adrenaline pumping of a good rescue! And Colby does a great job providing awesome aerial views. Incredible!!!
It's not said enough.... this channel is nothing without the awesome production team. Watching y'all grow is one of my favorite parts of youtube. Matt, increase their budget and prepare to be amazed.
Fly in planes, yes. Walk up those crazy hills, heck no. You people are nuts. Thanks for sharing! It's good to know that there's a whole bunch of people out there crazier than I am. The drone footage was excellent! (Thank you pilot!) People want to criticize the other driver - HE DIDN'T HAVE A SPOTTER. Yeah, having someone outside, telling you what you need to do - makes a huge diffrence.
What really sunk home this video is how much the camera flattens things. You had multiple shots of the same position where from one angle it looked like handycap ramp but from the better angle revealed it to be as steep as a flight of stairs. The steep one is the real one. True of all your jobs, it almost never looks on camera as steep as it actually is. Truly terrifying.
I live in Northern Vermont and really appreciate the channel and seeing the desert! I have been to Utah to ski but not the desert Matt you are a good influence on the world. We should all be so caring about our fellow people and I appreciate how you treat your children! Keep spreading the love.
As a long-time viewer and a sometimes commenter, WHY??? That has to be the most dangerous road for anyone to drive on, let alone practice turning around. Kaulin, the kid who forgot how to say NO! Well done, young man.
Matt, your (not so) favorite commenter here.. Pretty nasty road.. I used to work on mountain top radio repeater sites across So. Cal, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and that one ranks right up there with the best of them, especially for a ""shouldn't have gone this way" road.. A couple sites I went to were that bad on the correct road in.. lol.. Good job making Kaulin drive to the top if only to demonstrate to others how to do steep, loose roads the right way.. Slow and easy, as little tire slip as you can get away with.. NOW imagine doing a road like that with a fully loaded 1ton 4x4 service truck?? Can cause the underwear to get a little "spotty" at times.. Happy New Year to you, family and crew...
I love when people get stuck on this insane mountain. LOL usually the camera don't do show how steep things are but you can tell this trail is gnarly! I often think about this hill to be honest. kinda weird I know lol
I am 80 years old. Matt around 50 is claiming to be an old man. RUBBISH! He is just a little out of shape. That is no disgrace. But he is not permitted to join the Old Man's club yet. Maybe in 20 years I'd cut him some slack. Although that track up-hill to the Radio Tower, IS a LITTLE steep. Love watching the videos. Keep 'em coming. John Q. Yup, nothing better than a drone to emphasize the danger, size and terrain you are driving in. Great stuff. When Matt leans in the one shot it reminded me of shooting photos of some of our MTN biking and also 4 wheeling. Hold the camera a level on the shot, then tilt it a little in the opposite direction of the hill your rig is on. It ensures that the true incline shows.
EASILY my favorite recovery spot! Simply because you'd never find me there, I'm afraid of heights. I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but recoveries from here are fascinating to watch! I know you'll get them out!!!
I've seen that angle before....but I was on Jacob's Ladder via The Cog Railway at Mt Washington in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. LOL I'm sure Pike's Peak has something similar, but that's in Colorado. Ok now that I've seen the whole video....DO NOT GO UP THAT ROAD! LOL
I can't believe I watched another on this road as it terrifies me each time. The drone footage was making me sick but I think that is because of what it was showing. For someone who doesn't do this. it just seems insane. Great job by all.
Wow! I'd seen the previous rescue videos of this spot, but had never truly appreciated just how precarious it was until seeing this one! The drone footage totally revealed the actual steepness and danger of this spot. I had a couple of incidents of true "pucker factor" while watching this! The drone footage really made this a unique video! I'll be there next week, but will stay in the more moderate areas of Sand Hollow.
That's not a trail for just anyone. You made the right call for calling Matt. You are still wheels down and knowing your limits saves lives and possibly your equipment. Great job on your new challenge, Collin.

I was sitting in my chair, at my desk, with both feet on the ground, and that shot when Matt was near the edge still scared me! Around 9:40... I actually rolled backward, away from the screen, as if it would keep me safe. Wow!!!
So glad this was not too stressful! The only reason I can watch the cell tower vids is I know nothing bad happened or the video would not be up. I will be very very mad at someone if anything ever happens to you guys because they made a call after a bad decision.
Matt, the look on your face 3 seconds after you instructed Kaulin to "Start it up..." 😳 ...and trying not to ask the customer, WTF is wrong with your rig? !!!-LOL-!!!

Great video - thrilling and terrifying at the same time. I’ve driven a steep hill in NH - Cree Notch - with a SxS and nope, never doing that again anywhere. So I really appreciate your drone video so I can see the area without scaring myself half to death again. Well done!
