    Brilliant comparison. Off the back off this video I bought an lvmp gun and a 2.5 hp 50l compressor that can maintain about 6 cfm. Total cost £300 and I’m getting outstanding results on woodwork and metalwork for furniture making. I’ll never need anything better than this, and so much faster than a roller and a brush. Thank you.

    Orange pillow top on the HVLP so what that’s... what those things do / what about the booger creators it shoots out on the bottom - we might need to adjust gun settings and dial back the material flow

    I don't get it... what makes a gun HVLP or not? Just the cap? Does that change the CFM requirement?

      Its generally the cap and engineering in the cap hvlp uses more cfm than conventional

    I wish lvlp were thrown in for comparison.
    I am scratching my head wondering why lvmp is slower than hvlp, when it needs less air to break up thicker material. This is a bit of a contradiction. I would think, more breakup is faster. I used to reach very high speed with my conventional, especially cranking the psi up to 90 with a pressure pot.

    Great video man. One question though, on the 2465 trophy series, Binks has one blue body gun and one green body gun. Are these different or are they the same internally and just come with different caps that I can then interchange.

  • @bonnivilleblackcherry9745
    @bonnivilleblackcherry9745 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I think a lot of people are confused with HVLP. They think high volume of paint will lay down under low pressure. But the high volume is it needs a high volume of air. Most painters use 3/8 fittings vs the typical hobby size compressor with the 1/4 fittings because 1/4 fittings reduce your volume and create more pressure which all but eliminates the benifits of the HVLP gun.

      My first conversational was in 1988. I went hvlp in 1995, but always hated hvlp. Poor breakup and the thinning means high overspray. Lvmp is like a drink of cool water after years beating my head against the wall trying to like the hvlp.

    What gun is best for semi gloss paint like for trims? And what gun is best for redwood stain or sealer (poly)

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Redwood stain, HVLP, or lvmp semi gloss depends on the viscosity but most should spray well hvlp. lvmp, sealer hvlp or lvmp lvmp breaks up a bit finer a gun like the Trophy spray gun can allow you to spray hvlp or lvmp by changing the cap

  • @brodieb666
    @brodieb666 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is that one gun you are using, and just switching the cap?

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi yes the trophy gun has all three air caps available allowing you to spray in conventional, hvlp, or lvmp from a single spray gun type

    • @bvac
      @bvac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pittsburgh Spray Equipment Co does the cap dictate how much air the gun puts out or is that determined by the air pressure at the input? In other words if the tank is fixed at 1 bar, will the MP cap let more air pass than the LP cap? Or do you have to adjust based on your application.

    I have a 150 psi compressor. It's enough for Blinks Hvlp gun ?

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Black Phillip it will depend on your compressor cfm pressure is the same with all compressors but cfm is what differs you will need about 20 cfm to use a spray gun like in the video which would require a 2 stage 5 horse power compressor to run efficiently

    • @temporarymomentary
      @temporarymomentary 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I borough that gun from a friend. When pressure is lower than 140psi on my tank paint start to became misty and coverage is really bad.

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Black Phillip would have to know about your compressor and material your spraying it's either setup on the gun or compressor is not but enough we can talk during tomorrow if you would like

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Black Phillip unfortunately that's about half the size of the spray guns air need which is about 20 cfm what you may notice due to a lack of air is your pattern doesn't stay consistent and isn't breaking up paint well enough

    what different lvmp and hvlp?i need to know..

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      LVMP uses a bit more air pressure vs air volume which results in a bit of a better breakup than hvlp but if your in a state that requires a compliant spray gun (HVLP compliant) lvmp doesn't meet that standard (but is about the same in transfer efficiency or same in keeping waste down). HVLP meets requirements for emissions reductions but tends to not break apart material quite as fine. LVMP is most often used for automotive or wood finishes where HVLP standards are not required

    Have you tried a conventional air cap at hvlp pressure and compare hvlp the both of them,

    • @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo
      @PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The conventional cap will perform pretty close to the hvlp cap at the same pressure but will still give a slightly better finish than hvlp
