Arguably the finest male voice in R&R from the 1970's and 80's and there's plenty of talent in that category. It is extremely interesting to watch the reactions of those today hearing Mickey Thomas for the first time. He was never your typical male diva and went through time unnoticed and unknown by far too many. It's nice to see and hear that he's still going in 2022. Okay, great. The full album as well as the individual cuts are here on TH-cam. The reason I ask is to say these things ....
First, the album is listenable from top to bottom, front to back. I've owned it on vinyl, cassette and CD. It is actually one of my 20 albums on a desert island picks. I love every song but in truth the weakest one is the first one, called "Lightning Rose" and even that one is very good.
The *main* gist of why I ask though is that I'm hoping I can get you to listen to one song in particular first and maybe tell me what you think about it here. It's called "Awakening". To me, it's what they might've sounded like if they were a full time prog band.
My main point though is the guitar piece at the outro ...... to me it is *as good* as any other piece of guitar work as any other I've ever heard in the rock genre. I'm really just looking for someone else's opinion about it. Thanks, yer a doll.

Finally....in the early 2000s, he happened to be playing at a casino in Reno that I was visiting. And then when he played this song that I'd waited so many years to hear 'live'.....it was as an instrumental. I only found out a few years ago, that he was never the vocalist, but that it was Mickey Thomas......& that was from seeing the video on TH-cam....LOL.

I don't know how I missed your reaction to this one! Back around the early 2000s I met a man named Rob. He became such a great friend! Honestly, my best friend. He was ALWAYS singing this song! In 2011, he passed away. And a mutual friend told me, that he was singing about me. I cry every time I hear this song. Or think about that. Never thought of him that way. But I honestly believe he loved me. And I just wish I knew to what degree before he was gone.
Rest in peace Rob Roy. I still love you, miss you, think about you. Till we meet again...

Mickey is still singing great and this song is usually in his Jefferson Starship set. This version was like 45 years ago as of 2021 and he is still touring. Some of the newer recordings are on YT.
