BYD is working on a fix fornthe AC not being able to keep fog away from the windows. Workshop told me that until the fix is rolled out sealusers can but hest to 27, fan to step 4 and no recirculating air.
"Power limited at 8 kw and disconnections" sound exactly like those issues, which also some users have been reporting here in Finland with the v1.3.1. But these did not occur with 1.2 to my knowledge, so these should definitely be addressed to v1.4 or 1.3.2. I really expect these type of things to be high prio on their list. Myself, I haven't yet encountered the disconnection issues, and my recent charging curve was ok'ish despite the very slow start due to cold battery (see test here: th-cam.com/video/lntRmrvbbIY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=azsDK7V8m4P3jPD0 ), but clearly there are some issues as quite many have been raising those lately.
Sorry for my confused wording. No they weren't visible previously. Was just hoping they are now still visible. From your reply sounds like they aren't which is a shame. I watched a review of the Sealion 06 and when CarPlay was active it still displayed the A/C controls at the bottom of the screen which is so handy. Thanks for replying! Cheers from Australia with a Seal Performance!
Hi there, I'm thinking of swapping from Tesla to BYD Seal and finding your videos very informative. Thanks for that. Does the Seal pre-heat to allow quicker DC charging when chargers are set in the navigation?
Very good question. I tried DC charging a week ago (see my previous video) with ”frozen” battery mainly to test how the Seal handles the ”worst case scenario” in charging right after a -10C night. Even though the start of the charging session was very very slow, the power ramped up quite ok’ish considering the conditions. So probably nothing to do with v1.3.1 but just the freezing cold battery in that test. It may be that those v1.3.1 issues only happen on certain type of DC chargers. I’ll see if I can make another test on this some day soon.
@ElectricSeal-bq5wu I read about Seal owners from across the globe also are experiencing the sudden drop in charge effect post ver. 1.3.1 in all different temperatures, me also - but now it is also cold in the north as you know, so it's not possible for me to really test this issue in warm/tempered weather. My Seal was DC charging perfectly in the summer and fall pre ver. 1.3.1, so it would be a sad day if that has changed to the negative side...
Can you test the sound of the reverse and forward parking sensor's. This is what they mean by increasing AVAS sound, not the pedestrian warning. I'm running 1.2.1 and can turn on steering wheel heat via voice command
@davidolsson are you talking about the pedestrian warning tone that starts below 30kph or the reserve parking sensors and forward collision warning system. It was muted with 1.2.1 but fixed with 1.3. You can still turn off annoying SLW but everything else should be loud like it should be
Glad they added in the steering wheel voice command. Does the voice command allow you to give 2 commands in the same sentence? Like "Open boot and defrost windows" Great video btw
I think it doesn’t yet support multiple functions in one command, but now that you can continue the dialogue, it is easier to do multiple commands in a row. Still there’s a lot of room to add more voice skills and more natural conversations.
We've had the steering wheel heating command from day one on original firmware from factory on a '23 Performance AWD here in Australia. It's worked from day one. Wonder why it didn't in EU delivered vehicles.
I’d like to have the next navi step there. To me the HUD is such a wasted opportunity…even though I do use it all the time. It just could be so much better.
I agree. It was good to see some 6 or so OTA updates in 9 months in Q2-Q4 2024 for the Seal, so I'd say they had a decent start with updates. Now let's hope that continues and improves in 2025.
The navigation is crap. The European highway E6 has been reopend on a stretch north of Gothenburg for at least 6months now, the nav cannot make any route because it sais it is still closed. Unusable 😮Where to BYD take their maps and with a online map that costs money after 3 years...why pay for maps for the BYD when they are not updated. 😢
the route planner is absolute GARBASH! did a test last week in my dolphin 258 km mostly highway (129 Km each way) so 110 KM/H and some times 130 KM/H i started at 96% battery when i got to destination after 129km i had 35% left i then set the gps to go back and expect it to add charging stops but nope it was like yeah u can reach destination no problem man wtf is this
The software is generally not on Tesla's level, that's pretty clear. On the other hand, when you look at other manufacturers' software and how they do OTA updates, like VW, Hyundai, Volvo... I think BYD has actually got a pretty decent start.

That is great to hear. This "fogging" problem really is a annoyance (for me at least).
Don't seem to have this issue here in Australia, at least not with our '23 Performance AWD.
I'm in Melbourne (AUS) and fogging is a real pain...
If you hold the heated seat shortcut you can make it so it controls ventilated seats instead
Oh, nice little tip! 👍
Very good and informative video 👍Greetings from western Finland.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I wonder when they add shortcuts to memory seats. i really miss this shortcut
That would be useful indeed
That is a shortcut that needs to be provided sooner rather than later...I can't drive the car in the wife's position...
Or driver profles according to the key used. ^^
What they NEED to do is put a shortcut button to the seat position memory on the home screen
Agreed
Great informative content as usual. I wish the update matches up the byd seal sealion 07 + improvement on the keep lane assist.
Thanks! Comparison to Sealion would be interesting, maybe I should get it for test drive..

Hi there! Have you noticed whether the A/C controls are still visible at the bottom of the screen when CarPlay is displayed now?
Actually they are not shown when CarPlay is on. I wonder was this different previously?

Can you do a video on byd app? Overview it and functions. Also one idea of route planner to check how accurate is estimations
Good ideas!
Funniest command to BYD Voice is "Hi BYD my arse is burning".
It turns on seat ventilation 😂

Does the Seal pre-heat to allow quicker DC charging when chargers are set in the navigation?
Thanks! Unfortunately, the Seal doesn't currently have pre-heating of the battery, which makes the charging times a bit longer in cold temps.
You sound exactly like Valtteri Bottas
How do you know I’m not him..? 😉
Update 1.4.0 is out, many Danes have got it today
Just received that one today👍
I'm curious to know what your experience are with the "slow DC charging issue" that everyone is talking about post ver. 1.3.1

I want to ask the same question especially reverse beeping gets louder?
I can't hear if they are higher or not... No change for me.
Ah, I see - need to test the parking sensor sound. At least so far it hasn’t caught my attention.

Saako ylinopeusvaroittimen nykyään pysyvästi pois päältä, vai pitääkö se joka ajokerralla poistaa käytöstä erikseen?

Works normally for me at least.

At least battery and nav like they have in the Chinese version of the seal.
The AVAS sound is also played inside the car. This don’t makes sense to me. They should fix that.
I think it comes only from external speaker ? But yes you can hear it inside, like in most EVs.
BYD will fall behind if it doesn't keep the continual updates for older vehicles going

don't forget the charging Problems
So so many problems with the software for this car and BYD does nothing.
Good point, there has been quite many reports on DC charging issues.
In middle east I am still on 1.2.0
Updates seem to be rolled out at quite different schedules, depending on the country.
