Just passed the 1 year mark with my Seal RWD here in Thailand .
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are wireless for a long time.
Regen can be adjusted by swiping down on the main screen accessing the shortcut menu, you will find the choice of TWO regen modes there.
Adjusting air on temp or fan speed can be made in various ways : use the steering wheel shortcut, use the main screen air con page ( shortcut button on Home Screen ), using 3 fingers to swipe vertical or horizontal to adjust fan speed/temperature or using the voice commands ( set fan speed to 3, set temperature to 22°, etc ).
In fact the BYD Assistant can be used for a whole host of voice commands ( open passenger window, close all windows, adjust air con, find me the nearest charging station, play radio station Radio One ).
Understandably the amount of options in the car can be overwhelming at first but there are shortcuts for most things ( shortcut to heated and vented seats on the main screen added recently by OT ) and after a while you get to find the shortest route, via the drop down shortcut menu, the steering wheel shortcut buttons ( there’s a menu of adjustments in there also ) or the voice commands.
The amount of options far exceeds any other car I have owned and let’s be honest it sounds petty to complain that there are too many options !!

Hi @Andydwyer99 Thank you for your comment and I really appreciate you watching my latest video.
I love that you are enjoying your experience with the BYD Seal and I think for a lot of people, it would absolutely work for them.
When you mentioned, “understandably the amount of options in the car can be overwhelming at first…”, this is exactly how I felt. You felt exactly how I felt so I’m not sure it’s petty; my video was based around a real world first impression and I ended with what I felt was a very balanced conclusion.
If I’d had more time with the car, perhaps I’d have found things easier to live with but hey, we like what we like and my video is just an opinion. It absolutely deserves to be in the mix for anyone who is looking for an electric executive saloon.

@ you’re right “ petty “ was a bit strong, and I apologise for that,
as I felt overwhelmed initially and took some time to find all, i think i have found them all !!, the nuances.
I am in a country based forum which has a current thread to help Seal owners discover all the Tips and Tricks, also a few FB groups that constantly help others find the small things that get missed often.
For example: the main screen is like a tablet, apps can be moved from page to page or bundled in folders as well as personal photos used as wallpapers. Additional apps can be added ( TH-cam, Browsers, Netflix, etc ) but is a little complicated to add them, the dealer here in Thailand has implemented a SIM card change to allow additional apps to be added easily, via GBox, and an additional 3 months free internet usage ( 2 gb monthly ) on top of the already free 2 years deal.
So things are moving fast here as there is a price war between the, many, Chinese EV’s available.
The price of the Seal has been reduced drastically to compete and make way for the 2025 version .
I bought my Seal RWD for the equivalent of £33k 1 year ago, it now costs just over £22k , similar discounts for the AWD version.

@ I’ll let you know when it happens. My current Galaxy 6-seater is just over half way on it’s 5-year deal, ending 4/27, so if nothing adverse or dramatic occurs the upgrade will be to follow-on then.
Car has to have minimum 250-300+ actual range, be a quick charger, and fairly efficient. Besides doing 60-70k miles a year; no pressure then! Now you can see why it’s not a huge shortlist, as most EVs won’t be suited for the work I do (and I’m not a Tesla (design) fan!)

    • @ElectricBenYT

@ In that case, an EV which was designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle would perhaps be a consideration especially from an efficiency perspective and owing to the amount of miles you do. BYD does not have what is typically referred to as One Pedal Driving...their regen uses both pedals...BYD does not conform to the TESLA idea of REGEN. They concluded that most people including first time EV buyers would be more comfortable with it their way. They have sold 10 MILLION NEVs of which at least 4.5 million are pure EVs. They are not wrong they are different and their approach is not harming sales. In China in NOVEMBER 2024 they sold 504,000 NEVs....in a single month.

You don’t need a lead to use Apple CarPlay or android auto. This can be done wirelessly. BYD has also updated the infotainment system multiple times since it was launched as they are always listening to customer feedback which sets them apart from most other manufacturers nowadays. The layout of the 15.6 inch screen is much better now and is much easier to navigate.

@@oliverredmayne3163 Hi. Thank you so much for your comment & it’s great to read that BYD are listening to their customers and implementing continuous updates to make their software better and better. I had the vehicle less than a day and the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto question was one of my questions at the handover but the person I spoke to wasn’t sure if you needed a lead or not. I persevered to try and see if it would work without but to no avail. It may have needed an update or it might not have been available at the time of recording the video. It’s brilliant that it’s now available wirelessly as it was a real negative on the day considering most manufacturers offer this without the need to plug in. The central screen was also VERY clunky on my test car but again excellent that this layout has been improved since and ideally the less interaction you have with any screen whilst you’re driving, the better and it sounds like this has had a major overhaul since I drove it last 👍

Hi @STRampo500 Thank you for brilliant support and for taking a look at my first TH-cam video.
I have driven both vehicles and I know which one I prefer but I guess it really depends on what’s important to you. If you frequently do longer distances and you happen to like tech with a super seamless ownership experience, there’s only one winner here but if you prefer some more traditional design cues, perhaps a little more familiarity and more luxury over performance, then there’s also another option for you too.
This EV executive saloon segment is fast becoming a saturated end of the market with vehicles from BMW, Hyundai, KIA, BYD, Tesla, VW, Mercedes-Benz etc all in the mix so there’s plenty to test drive. Noticable absences at the moment include Audi and Ford (let’s see what Jaguar re-launch with) but new models may well be on the way.
The alerts on the BYD Seal could be described as communicative but yes, some options will need to be switched off before every drive.

Once you familiarise yourself and organise your shortcuts it's easy - Like ALL EV's these days, the car you buy will not be the car you end up with - I don't see myself ever going back to ICE! 😄
