There simply has never been a better British Comedy duo. Every sketch, every line, meticulously crafted, tuned and timed for perfect comedic effect. RIP to these 2 geniuses.
These jokes are timeless. It was a joy to watch these 2 every week especially when they did things like this. I love watching the 4 candles. I grew up watch the 2 Ronnie's and they were hilarious and watching it now it never gets old, I will be 66 this year and still love watching the old time great comedians 😅😅😅😅
I loved it when Ronnie Barker struggled to contain the laughter. They're both master's at keeping a straight face. I laugh my head off before I get to the punchline.
This is just one of so many brilliant sketches the Two Ronnie's did , brilliant writing and comedy the likes of which we'll never see again . Ronnie B was a comedy genius and also a talented actor .
Look at 3:20 and 4:45 for example. Without even looking at each other, they both instinctively know how long to let the laugh run before doing the next gag. Masters of their craft.
Comedic geniuses, the Two Ronnies!!! I'm so grateful for You Tube. Otherwise this American might never have even heard of the Two Ronnies. I've always been a huge British Comedy fan but never even heard of Ronnie Barker nor Ronnie Corbett before I discovered them on You Tube. So funny, the both of them.
Chad, Porridge is an absolute classic comedy my friend - you will really enjoy it, it is all set inside a british prison- also watch the follow up - called going straight
If anything its funnier now than in 1979, simply due to the collapse of contemporary comedy into a black hole of ironical self loathing and vile hatred of all mankind and existence.
it always amazes me what attention to detail the props department had, we really did live in houses like that in the seventies, right down to the black mark on the water heater, signifying that its probably gushing out tons of carbon monoxide.
Just out of interest... we had a heater like that. It runs on gas and that dirty hole is where you stuck the match in to light it. It's just a little soot from the match, cheers.
Utter masters of their craft along with the script writers inc. Ronnie B himself. Ronnie B was also one of the finest serious actors too according to none less than Laurence Olivier.
I am glad I was born in the late 1950s; I think we had better comedy, better music, and, despite criticisms about non PC jokes in our era, people were more respectful generally!
@@NeverKnowinglyUndersouled Perhaps - but compared to our modern culture of consumption, instant gratification, social media indulgent horseshit, I'm not sure what's worse.
Actually just watched this sketch on BBC4s 2 Ronnies Sketch Book. They said John Sullivan went on to make Only Fools and Horses with some inspiration from this sketch. You can see where Del Boy and the dodgy dealings came from with the Victorian watches ect. Barker was absolutely brilliant at writing. And how he could do the sketches without cracking a smile is bloody phenomenal
For me this brilliant sketch was only a tad less in quality than. Four Candles. Tears of laughter when Corbett brings the duck in. Wonderful. stuff. RIP in comedy heaven guys
I love that understated, subtle look of bewilderment when he sees that it's a Duck. He was a wonderful actor.

Grew up in Australia laughing along with my mum and Dad watching these great talents.
Yeah when we couldn't get enough of Paul Hogan 'Hoges'
The Two Ronnie's sure enough made up for it good and proper.
Yeah so did we. Never missed an episode. They were the best; not to forget the many others.
Absolutely brilliant. They don't make them like they used to.
I miss them both. British comedy at its best.
Yes it is ❤❤❤
The 2 rons will be missed

Pure classic comedy that you can't ever get tired of =) I grew up with my Dad show me these guys in the 90s and nothing comes close.
A timeless classic, they don’t get any better than this.
agree 101%
Very unique & still very funny 😄
Remmber about a1975 went and watch Norwich ctiy fc play speaking to a lady at bus stop she had been and seen him in Norwich that night
Two greats of comdrey
I was in the audience for the original recording of this........brilliant!!!!!
Probably the best comedy duo we've ever produced.......... they're absolutely untouchable in my opinion!!!🇬🇧✌️
that has to be one of the best of the two ronnies, class, style and pure gold comedy.Unbeatable.
Brilliant
44 years later and this stuff is still gold, nothing compared to the crap they produce these days.
Well said 2 master's at work
Exactly. And not a swear word in sight.
I don't think it's possible to make stuff this good any more... You could call a duck a pigeon and someone would get offended
Another brilliant sketch which makes me roll up with laughter so funny brilliant comedians so sadly missed
I loved it when Ronnie Barker struggled to contain the laughter. They're both master's at keeping a straight face. I laugh my head off before I get to the punchline.
What's his name? Donald. rofl
They’re still hilarious, 40 yrs later 👍🏽
I'm 26 but my dad brought me up on porridge, open all hours and the two Ronnie's.
This was my favourite growing up 😂
I was also brought up on porridge. Scotts oats.
A good laugh is timeless.
Never heard of those in the US but I’ll be looking them up. We were a little lucky, though. We did have Benny Hill on Late Night.

Brilliant as ever. Some of the best comedy of all time and it doesn't age
The performances are pitch perfect. Genius.
Sheer joy watching them after years , still funnier than anything on tv these days

Innocent, clever and very funny.Genius double act Ronnie Baker was a true wordsmith
Nothing like the good old British comedy! Really funny and brings that, side splitting, belly laugh every time.
Trouble with that side spliting belly stuff, it actually hurts.
@harryzero1566 what also hurts is that the woke darlings are destroying this stuff.
Absolutely fantastic
God will look after you
Both RIP BOTH OF U ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just can't get good old comedy no more! This is absolutely brilliant
Both of them absolute geniuses 😂
Thanks for a good ol’ Larf. Laughed these two since a lad in London. Greetings from Putnam Valley NY.
Comedy geniuses. There'll never be anyone as funny as these two.
Wow how so few people get it now days
They were the very best and played so many different characters
This sketch was written by the late john Sullivan. From only fools and horses. You could just imagine Del Boy and trigger playing out this scene...
Rest in peace you couple of marvellous comedians!
They're entertaining all in Heaven!
Agreed.
i can remember watching this in 1979....39 years later still as funny.

Ironically enough, this seems to be the one sketch where he did. When Corbett says the duck's name is 'Donald'.
