As I was saying to someone only today, part of me laughs a lot when watching their sketches but there's also part that simply marvels at the ability demonstrated. Absolute genius!
I love how in the first part of the sketch the women are trying not to laugh. Great script, great comedic actors!🤣👍 I discovered the two Ronnies just a couple a years ago through TH-cam greetings from Sweden! They're hilarious🤣👍 Also love the pub owner at the end!🤣👍
Absolutely brilliant writing.✍🏻 They don’t make them like these two anymore. Saturday nights in front of the Beeb was the best place to be with your family 🎭.
Off all the party sketches this is my favourite. Brilliantly written, superb word play. Great timing as usual. Lindsay Doyle - Linseed Oil. I am addressing my remarks. Myra Marks. You get the picture. Pure genius

You have to have good hearing, get the joke immediately or you will miss the next one. (Before TH-cam there was no stop and “rewind”.) “One of a kind” becomes (Duo) Two of a kind which doesn’t have the same clout.

Is it a difficult accent? It's a fairly standard accent to hear on British television so I suppose I'm used to it. Also, 'philistine' is Phyllis Stein, 'horoscope' is Horace Cope and 'that guy standing' is Guy Standing (thought you might like to know). Glad you can appreciate the comedy, wherever you're from. The Two Ronnies were great.
Thank Jeff, appreciate the explanation. I watched the originals decades ago and still enjoy belly laughs especially with classic funny genius Ronnie Barker😂 😂
Guy Standing (1873-1937) was a British and Hollywood actor, grandfather of the current actor Sir John Standing and a distant relative of mine. His son, Michael Standing, went on to be Head of Light Entertainment at the BBC, and commissioned 'The Navy Lark', which featured Ronnie Barker!
But it has not been said that he told a homeless person to 'eat his dog'. Then again, as with most of the Carry On team, did many of our best entertainers have issues?
RIP Patricia Brake barmaid in sketch at 6.37, Ingrid Fletch's daighter in Porridge and Going Straight also Coronation Street, Emmerdale ,EastEnders and many more.
Who's the chick at 6.17? She is tall, beautiful, nice blonde updo and well-propped hu-ha's. and the black sweater accentuates the nice contrast of the skin.
R u 1 2 ...No that s his name . Ha..just like R 2 D 2 from star wars..very clever. As for the vacuum.. doesn t even need a Hoover line..smutty and funny all rolled into one
Did Barker actually write all these word-mangling scripts ? he certainly defined the comedy formula, just wondering if he got staff to write a lot of it.
@@johnmc3862 he was the best of the non-alt comics, though he did drift into alt occasionally - the early sketch where he is middle class, Cleese is upper class and Corbett is lower class: as Corbett states - they all know their class ! (I summarise it for those who don't know it, I'm sure you do !)
But the problem was that it was much that muchness. For despite Barker being a little woodern, and the show formula, why did people keep watching - week after week? Or do we Brits fear fresh and new formats?

"Moronic Orbit."
Out of this world!
The wonderful, beautiful and talented pat brake.
Always clean good humour, a bit like Tommy Cooper. (I bet Tommy Cooper will turn up on my TH-cam in the next week. ).
But it has not been said that he told a homeless person to 'eat his dog'. Then again, as with most of the Carry On team, did many of our best entertainers have issues?
A whole gaggle of new Spooneris😂😂ms!!!
The Kings Coronation was attended by Lindsay Hoyle, and it made me think of this sketch!
The two Ronnie's are excellent
Comedy at it's finest like the best ciggies cigars pipes and beer sherry brandy whiskey and fish and chips
A man after my own heart.
This is even better than "Who's on first?"😅😅
So incredibly clever!
Brilliant...genius

Was just about to say the same. Remember her in the scene in Porridge visiting her dad and not wearing a br. Lol.
Love those two
I've been watching this for years and I've only just spotted R.Pitch
Brilliant!
I wish someone would upload these in full, especially as they're currently being repeated, although sadly not on BBC iPlayer. :(
