I used to have a tortoise
    With eyebrows long and wispy
My father came home drunk one night
And said “ mmm… that pie was crispy”.
I scribbled that little ditty on a scrap of paper while sitting in a register office waiting for my sister’s wedding ceremony back in the 60s.
She was only 17 , pregnant and was very nervous, I thought it might help her relax and put the piece of paper into her hand.
It did. She collapsed in helpless giggles and sailed through the ceremony with a huge grin and without a hitch.
We lost her 30 years ago, and I still miss her every day.
This sketch brought back happy memories.
