  • Andy Burnham has been re-elected Greater Manchester mayor. The Labour politician secured his third term at the polls.
    Mr Burnham won 63.4% of the vote, with Conservative Party candidate Laura Evans on 10.39%, and Dan Barker (Reform) on 7.46%, ahead of Hannah Spencer (Green) 6.92% and Jake Austin (Lib Dem) 4.25% on a turnout of 31.77%.
    Speaking after his re-election, Mr Burnham has said Britain “desperately needs a new government and a fresh start".
    He said: “Britain desperately needs a new government and a fresh start and from here, we will work hard to bring that change about.”
    Mr Burnham said the “Westminster one size fits all approach” has not worked for parents in Harpurhey, “trapped in debt because of the pernicious combination of the housing and the benefit system” or for communities “suffering the after effects of youth violence and struggling to make sense of it”.

    In the last decade Manchester has become an extremely dangerous city, unfortunately a bit like the rest of the Country. The idea of the buses is nice but it would be a good idea to stop the wave of cultural and social destruction that is demolishing the Country. I send my prayers and my blessings to the wonderful Britons of an amazing city and an extraordinary Country. Don't let them kill it completely.

      Liz Truss has ideas? Who knew...

    • @lucitonstjames3925
      @lucitonstjames3925 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@patrick_h_lauke She was ready to announce 8 huge supply side reforms, 4 where that controversial she was advised to delay the announcements as they would likely cause mass protests / rioting.
      Truss's SEZ's where intially dropped by Sunak but Hunt brought them back, the name of the game is the break up of the UK into competing entities , all spelled out in a 2017 paper written by Mathew Elliot for the IEA setting out how to transform Hull by privatising the entire region, paying those on benefits to move away to areas that would have them, everything in that area including the police all run by the operating company, citizens as consumers , paying the monthly subscription fee to live in the area , strict rules etc. Fully deregulated labour market , no rights / protections etc, which leads us to why the tories want to take us out of the ECHR & Sunaks move to axe national insurance so as to end pensions , only for those that can afford to retire, everybody else working till they drop.
      Truss & the Freeports (Liverpool is a freeport) . DP World run the Tnames freeport area, DP World have three ports in Rwanda that are backed by the UK governments investment arm , Rwanda the centre of the huge new global trading routesthat are set to emerge over the coming years, all reliant upon masses of cheap labour & hence the Rwanda deportation scheme. Burnhams playing rigjht into the hands of the freeport / SEZ agenda. Wales has just signed off 2 Freeports , Shanker Singham , the brains behind brexit / IEA /man who devised the break up of the electricity market is fully involved in the freeports . The fun has only just begun

    Well done to Andy! Speaking from a personal point of view I've seen nothing but complete regeneration in my hometown of Stockport, as well as a massive improvement on the bus network all across Gtr Manc, not just Stockport since he has come into office. Only time I want him to leave would be if he ran for PM instead of rent-a-quote Starmer.
