The irony of the mayor of manchester standing up for Liverpool. But fair play to him, he really went for it. It'd be interesting today to look back on this and see exactly how many of his reccomendations have been implimented? Particularly the ones that the government said they would impliment?

He didn't become mayor of Manchester until some time after this. He was an MP from Liverpool, and campaigned for years to help get the truth about Hillsborough

Brilliant Speech from Andy Burnham done with great compassion, and also thanks to the home secretary , for helping to get to the bottom of the lies and injustice ...Unfortunately if the is not total accountability and closing of escape hole for the lies of a early retirement this will happen again.. The should be no escape for the criminal act's by the individuals at the top of the Police force at the time and ambulance authorities who acted in a criminal cover up

I was caught up in the effects of Hillsborough (my wife had a profound neurological condition). TONY BLAND ..... remember him? A debate began because of his condition that spread world-wide and lasted till 1994. The world came close to accepting euthanasia as a way of solving its problems. It is a fact that Hillsborough sparked off, through Tony, a scenario that resulted in thousands of deaths of elderly, disabled, etc., vulnerable people. Fortunately sanity prevailed ... and hopefully the early 90s "euthanasia frenzy" will never rear its head again.
