Thanks! I enjoyed that. I’ve got the R version and have done 50K miles on it and know how easy it is to go this fast. You obviously know that road really well as all your gear changes told us exactly what was coming up. Nice road too. I first rode an 1198S in Italy in 2011, loved it and eventually bought one in the UK in 2013. The low down torque is seriously impressive and just grabs you by the backside and fires you up the road. And then there’s the Brembo brakes!! Man those things are insane!! I’ve never felt braking so good on a bike, ever! And they give you so much confidence to up your speed too. Yay! lol. I love my 1198 and my mates here in NZ keep telling me I should buy something newer, but Why? I don’t need anything quicker and the 1198 is beautiful to ride and to look at. It was nice to see you give it some beans in the right places(it goes all blurry when you give it some😂) and give respect to the places that could get you in trouble. I’ll definitely watch this video again if the weathers crap and I can’t go riding.. Thanks for sharing. All the best..
Something hard to give in the video, is the torque sensation. The "low" RPM redline (for an SBK) is compensated with brutal torque, that's thrilling ! This bike is a vibrant torque beast, the last Ducati SBK without electronic filter. And beautifully designed ^^ That's nice to still find content about it. Be careful with connecting rod bearings (oil change EACH YEAR), and voltage regulator (when the screenlight gets off and no turn signals/no lights under the screenboard gets on). I've had one, ridden 9.000km in french alps and corsica, not reliable but by far the most funny AND serious bike I've had. No regrets to have owned one, fantastic experience.
@@GPRracing52 Connecting rod bearings tend to wear quickly. It can be repaired (fail at 50.000km is consistent), but here in France that's generally a 1.500 - 2.000€ bill. Voltage regulator fails quickly too (placed in a VERY hot spot, just in front of the exhaust collector). The starter is a bit weak too, some have it replaced (the freewheel mostly). Requires a full battery to start easily, battery charger recommended if you don't use it weekly. Mine had all of this replaced just before I bought it, so it's been okay for me (52.000km so far, most brutal torque sensation I've had). It has been conceived stupidly and without long lifetime thoughts, but if you accept to pay for more costly maintenance, it gives you back very strong sensations. That's a truly amazing motor in an excellent chassis, beautifully designed ;)
The first time I rode this bike I remember saying after getting on the highway, “Damn, this thing’s fast!” I was barely rolling the throttle. Nice straight Texas roads let me get up to about 155mph before I chickened out.
