    I was fortunate enough to have been gifted with 2 front row seats at Pine Knob to see Jimmy. Late 70s or early 80s, my memory fails me. But it was the best concert I've ever been to. A buddy of mine went with me and we were hooting and hollering through out the show. A gallon thermos of margaritas and plenty of joints helped grease the way. Jimmy came over after the show and shook both our hands. It was a great experience.

    A legend is gone. Everyone on the planet knows a Jimmy Buffett song. Very sad when my mother informed me of him passing. My mother was a huge fan of him. She is a parrot-head for sure and I can sing along every word to Margaritaville. One of her favorite singer/songwriters. His songs just make me wish of a laid back simple life on a Carribean Island without a worry in the world. The kind of music that puts a smile on one's face. Thank you for your timeless music Jimmy. I can see Margaritaville still being played 100 years from now at some ocean side tiki bar and that is something amazing. Will be missed by so many but definitely never forgotten. Rest in peace Jimmy Buffett.

    I'm saddened by his death. I got to see him at Bonnaroo in 2009. He wasn't even scheduled to perform. One of the other bands had to cancel at the last minute so Jimmy took their spot. It was a surprise. No one in the crowd knew that he was going to perform. It was such a fun set. He played all of his hit songs and the crowd really got into it, especially during Fins. I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to see him. RIP Jimmy Buffett

      Sunlight exposure is thought to be one of the causes of Merkel-cell carcinoma (MCC). The World Health Organization, American Academy of Dermatology, and Skin Cancer Foundation recommend the following measures to prevent excessive UV exposure and skin cancer:
      Limiting sun exposure between the hours of 10am and 4pm, when UV rays are the strongest
      Seeking shade when UV rays are most intense
      Wearing sun-protective clothing including a wide brim hat, sunglasses, and tightly woven, loose-fitting clothing
      Using sunscreen
      Avoiding tanning beds and artificial UV exposure

    What a tragic loss of a very talented man. His carefree lifestyle mixed with alcohol and too much sunshine caught up with him to take him early. Many of us fans need to learn from this message that a care-free lifestyle of just feel good each day may not be the healthiest way to live and enjoy life. One must also consider family and friends who will be saddened from not seeing us around. His music will certainly not be lost and will live on and on. Thanks Jimmy.

      @SilverShadow2LWB ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@glennkovacs1328 Don't get me wrong, I would have liked his to stick around a few more years. He was both mentally and physically young for his age. He was the best judge of how much he would comply with doctor's wishes. Would it have really hurt to just apply some sunscreen in his later years as well as not drink as much? It doesn't affect me, but I know that many of his followers have that same carefree lifestyle. Many families would like their own members to be there for family milestones. Don't be selfish, do it for your loved ones. I am not judging anybody. He reaped what he sowed. Good-bye Jimmy.

    • @jonikilly8365
      @jonikilly8365 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know! That’s what I said earlier. Think of the good he could have done for so many of his fans, if he had shared it. Four years, and all those that would have learned from his misfortune, or listened to him ( when they wouldn’t take anyone else’s advice), if he would have advocated for sunscreen. I could understand hust wanting to live out your last days with family in peace, if he had only found out recently, but four years? Think how many lives he could have impacted in four years with his story.

    • @glennkovacs1328
      @glennkovacs1328 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shame on all of you to try and think that Jimmy Buffett is responsible for all of people that can’t see it THEMSELVES. Hard core drinking, eating unhealthy like a pig, living on the beach without sun protection is someone else’s responsibility to us? Really? Did you just fall of the turnip truck? Comes a time in all of our lives, preferably young adulthood, when we are responsible for ourselves. Not our parents, sport figures or even Jimmy Buffett

    • @SilverShadow2LWB
      @SilverShadow2LWB ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glennkovacs1328 You are correct in that each of us should take the responsibility of our own care, but many don't. It is only the remaining family that shares the sorrow. Alcoholism, obesity, high cholesterol, and cancer take a toll on the medical insurance companies too. If one doesn't have adequate insurance, we all end up sharing the expense through a government fund. My only message is that he was promoting the carefree life style, and many of his fans don't know where to draw the line. The American health condition is not getting better.

    In my view, Jimmy got better with age. When he first made it big I don't think he wore the "bigness" that well. He was still an excited kid. But it didn't take him long to mellow into the kind of chilled out persona we all loved. We've lost an irreplaceable asset, but at least his gifts will keep on giving. Bless you, Jimmy, and thank you!

    Am I the only one that finds it disturbing that Buffet (famous for singing about sun and fun), knew he had skin cancer for four years, and didn’t open up about it and possibly help others? I hated to hear we lost him. I really did. After a few days of it setting in though, it occurred to me what a real shame it is that so much time passed, and all the good he could have done by speaking about it. I haven’t heard anyone else mention this. Think of those over the last four years that could have been positively influenced by the awareness he could have brought to the disease of skin cancer, and the use of sunscreen. He could have literally saved lives by sharing this over the last four years. Now that would have been a legacy to leave behind.
