I love that song “he went to Paris.“ May be his best song, but I also like Margaritaville.
It is amazing if someone can write even one good song in a lifetime. Jimmy did more than that.

I remember going down to Marathon Key and hearing a house band play jimmy buffet for the first time, when I was a teen. I was in love with his music from that day on. In 1994, I purchased a 4wk old macaw, whom I have til this day, (He's 29 now), because I fell in love with parrots, being a true Parrothead. Much love and respect to Jimmy's family, extended family and fans. RIP Jimmy Buffet, Margaritaville will never be the same.

I listen to Jimmy Buffett music ever since I was a Young girl and I always loved his music he passed away on September1st, 2023
I am very same age as Jimmy Buffett when he passed away I am 76 years old right and that's the age that Jimmy Buffett die 76 years old.
My Son and I both enjoy his music
We especially liked his Songs .
3 of his songs we both really loved were Come Monday and another favorite song was Waisted Away in Margaritaville and another favorite song was Somewhere it's five o'clock
I even still have a cassette tape I play against and I just really enjoy it he was definitely one-of-a-kind and I often wonder if I would have grown up differently if I'd been more like him but I
      was more traditional

My son who is now 33 years old grew up listening to Jimmy. When he first learned to walk and talk he would run circles around the living room coffee table singing “where ya going to go when the volcano blows” I miss those days. Rip Jimmy, your music and books will be treasured for years to come.

I was lucky to be raised listening to buffett. I'm 38 and I saw him 62 times all across the United States and I actually saw the play he put out a few years back. We had a crew of about 15 people that would go. We have already planned and scheduled an annual Buffett bash at my buddies farm.

I lived in Key West for over 20 years. Jimmy bought his 1st VHS VCR from me back in 1982. He used to live all over. ne time on a boat off Half-Shell Raw bar. He replaced that spot with a Tee -shirt place having the names of his songs on it. That was really the 1st Margaritaville. He moved next door to Louie's Back Yard. He had a chute throw beers down from that restaurant to where he was sitting watching the game. Many times he'd come over and join people at Louie's with drinks. He gave many free concerts in Key West. My favorite was the 2.5 hour show he gave for about 150 parrotheads at Casa Marina. Jimmy was glorious

What a great story! We just got back from Key West with our son over Easter break, I try and go as often as I can but sometimes life and responsibilities gets in the way. I took my son with me for the first time, he’s 9. He lit up the entire time, I showed him all the classic spots. I’m happy to be creating memories with him like my dad did for me with Jimmy’s music with us the whole time just enjoying life like it should be….RIP Jimmy.

I actually met Jimmy Buffet in a little strip mall in Key West in 85. It was Jimmy Buffet's Save the Manatees shop that had all kinds of gifty things and many stuffed manatees. Having just come from Germany I noticed the cashier was speaking German, so I approached her and asked...what's all the Manatee stuff about. A man putting merchandise away said..." it's important that we all preserve the Manatees". I said..."is that what Jimmy Buffet thinks?" He said yes, that's what I think! Holy Shit balls! It was him! He was this down to earth guy that was just passionate about his cause. He then invited my friend and I to Sloppy Joes where he was performing. We sat up front and during the show, he spoke to us between songs and thanked us for buying a stuffed Manatee. He also thanked us for our service was we were both Air Force Active Duty. He was awesome!

Then back to the Keys in the winter. WHEN Jimmy was there everybody new everybody. We would get drunk everynight . Like the old saying goes more women than a passenger train cold haul. I'm 68, while living like a Parrothead I was in NC where I started listening to his first albums in 74. We had 3 guys and a girl sharing an old beach house. The police knew us well for the keg parties, cookouts and such that got out of control. Buffet , Loggins & Messina, Steely Dan, Deep Purple and Three Dog NIght supplied the music for all the bikers, surfers, beach bums, frats and such that were all welcome at our home. It became a place where we all dropped any fakeness and became genuine people to one another. One roomie had lived in Panama and frequently cooked island style foods for all to enjoy. I think that Jimmy Buffett would have loved to hang out with that crew, who in his spirit, most still live that lifestyle. RIP JB , you will be missed

He flew and owned several airplanes over the years. I spoke frequently with him in the late 80s and early 90s at Kendall Executive (then known as Tamiami) airport where he flew his Beech Bonanza up from the Keys and would drive a car that he left parked there to his office, I believe, and then back home again in the evening. Very pleasant and easy to talk to guy. Rest in peace, we'll miss you Mr. Buffett.

Jimmy Buffett's song lines from his joyous yet introspective "Jimmy Dreams" song crystallizes the essence of his core.
Jimmy, dear "endless summer" friend and poetic visionary, rest in peace now on the eternal, "deep blue" ethereal waves of a higher realm.
He's a child to the end
    What a joy
When you are you're best friend
And the world's such a toy
If you just stay a boy
You can spin it again and again
    Jimmy flies
    With no use for disguise
    Just escapes
    Using mirrors and capes
And the words do the trick
    There is no bigger kick
Than just rhyming again and again.....
"The states in which we infuse a transfiguration and a fullness into things and poetize about them until they reflect back our fullness and joy in life...three elements principally: sexuality, intoxication and cruelty - all belonging to the oldest festal joys."
The Will to Power (1888). Sec. 801
We want to be poets of our life - first of all in the smallest most everyday matters.
    Nietzsche

The entire Barometer Soup CD is such a joy & so underrated. Love those songs. One of my all-time favorite songs, though, is One Particular Harbor. My favorite lyrics are "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been". Always bringing the sunny side out on any subject was what Jimmy excelled at to the very end.
Finally got to see Jimmy in concert in June of 2022 in The Woodlands after yrs of trying & being unable each time. It's a bucket list concert & trip I will never forget with a dear friend of mine. We almost went to Margaritaville in Conroe, TX afterwards upon hearing Jimmy would be there later that night, but we were exhausted after a long drive & concert. Sure wish we could have gone now. RIP Jimmy Buffet.

@@JR-uc5oz Blame those early year Nashville Music Corp Capitalists who kicked Jimmy like a three legged dog,... they made him go off to make his living by Entertaining on tour, not record deals. In the end, he beat them, cuz the Internet allowed artist/musicians to go direct to sell and that forced the Execs to follow Jimmy's lead to put their hired talent on tours. He was my neighbor as a kid in an Ultra Conservative town, Pascagoula,... and was never a Commie then. Thank Nashville's corp crony elites for Jimmy widely successful career.

I knew JB from St Barts (1982 to 1984) do not KID yourself, the song smith imbibed a wide variety of evils. That was his time off. On tour, I heard he partied too, but tapered off(as he got older) much quicker than most in his business.
He became an avid pilot, and was always a family man, so drugs and alcohol became so little of his life by the late 1980's. So, I have been told.
So, in general, once he approached 36-40 he was very much distancing himself from that whole scene. As any sane person should.
The man was many things, but never wild and crazy. Just cool as shit, and one of the world's best people EVER with words (music lyrics, books, and in general conversation). Never met anyone like him before, or since. RIP Jimmy, RIP

All that about a couple of football teams and you make no mention of his relationship with the Chicago Cubs???? Playing dozens of concerts at Wrigley Field, including the first. When he was playing in the Midwest, he also "dropped in" on games and sat with the announcers. He was financially tied to them also, owning a Cubs farm team. He had a HUGE connection with the Cubs. Typical media, ignore the "fly over" state.

Sorry I never saw him live. I only knew a few songs mostly Margaritaville. I love the song. He was very carefree & taught people to leave their troubles behind & just enjoy life. I only recently moved near the beach. Wish I had years ago. I know the sun is not healthy. And so true what Jimmy loved took him away, the sun. I had no idea he was a Democrat & thinks Republicans are nazis. That is so untrue. It's the opposite. He talks badly about Trump & DeSantis who are actually saving our country. So he makes no sense with that. Hard to believe since he's so brilliant as a writer & a businessman. I'm sure it's the Republicans who mostly supported his lyrics & music. Nevertheless we can't help but love him. His political views are upside down & he just doesn't get it. I mean we had a scamdemic & if he thought different as other people who were fooled that's too bad. Nobody needed to distance or stay home. You just get sick. He wishes we keep the party going & we will. If we are told to stay inside again we won't because us we never did. Went out everyday everywhere & went to bars to socialize normally. Surprised at Jimmy since he lived a lot in a red state the keys. Only.the people in the blue states were crazy & many just moved away to red states. I am blessed to have always been in red states where we had our freedom.

The cheeseburger in paradise was actually horsemeat. JB said he ate anyway after limping into the port and was extremely hungry. He went on to say that he helped change the meat culture of that island by hooking them up with a hamburger exporter from Puerto Rico. This video ends kinda abruptly. I wanted more.
