Courier. The man with the quick-draw service toss from his belly-button, a forehand with no backswing but almost impossible to read, and a baseball swing for a two-handed backhand. There have been guys with unorthodox strokes, but none really with all three who sustained such a high level.

He said he was getting blown off the court and had his coach not had a chance to tell him to move way back to return serve that it would have been a very short day. He was tight, moving back gave him time to get into the points and back in the match. His words, not mine.
@@baumer2504 I agree with you that the odds of Agassi winning that match were very high , but not 100 % , here’s why : If you were following Agassi during the late 80s , early 90s , He had a way , often , in screwing up , the “ Un screwable “ , quite often , his loss to Gomez , a year before , had nothing to do with a rain delay . Though it was his first major final . Most people always say , about the ‘91 final , “ The “ rain delay . , You’ll recall ( I’ve watched this match roughly 35-40 times since ). That there were TWO rain delays , one not too much later from the first , if Nick Bolletieri earned his money that day , he should have noticed Couriers revised tactics after the first rain delay , and should’ve advised Agassi to readjust accordingly, he did not ... The following year , 92 , Courier destroyed Agassi in the semis , not not needing a drop of rain . Not to mention Courier beating Agassi 2 years before in , I believe, 4 sets . Courier had his number on clay . Ironically enough , it was rain which turned the ‘99 final final around for Agassi against Medvedev , as he proceeded to win the match . Agassi & Courier were my favorite players , all time . Regards
@@spirg I definitely feel what you're saying, no doubt in the early 90s he could be a head case. However Andre did take Courier apart in this 1990 match and a couple weeks after the 91 final they played a match in Irving, TX on clay and Agassi absolutely destroyed Courier. When he wasn't the favorite he appeared to concentrate better. For example the 1990 ATP finals he beat Sampras who'd embarrassed him at the US open a few weeks prior and in the final he beat world #1 Stefan Edberg. I think he was easily distracted by his own success except for Davis Cup and the Olympics where for the most part he was unbeatable. I miss these players.
That Agassi's forehand was just too good. What would have happened to his career if he won that RG ? Probably he would have won US Open and RG 91. That would have be 3 slams at 21...

Courier and Agassi had 4 straight showdowns in Paris 1989-92... this one was Andre's only win in the series.
If it hadn't been for a rain delay in 91 that allowed Courier to receive a coaching adjustment it would have been 2-2

Impossible to say, really. Also possible that he would have become more disengaged with the game and got lazy
