Those guys played 100% baseline tennis in 1990. Nowadays even baseline guys like Nadal/Djokovic would approach the net after a good approach shot. So in fact today we got a really beautiful mix of baseline play and netplay. Its not that netplay is dead for the baseliners, its even used more often and more wisely than in 1990 !
Agassi came to the net 27 times, Courier 31 times. 250 total points, so 23% of the points were finished at net. I don't think Nadal/Djokovic come to net any more frequently than that on average. And Courier came to net 3 times directly off the Agassi serve, you would be hard pressed to find Nadal or Djokovic ever do that.
Reminds me of a time period when I was super excited to watch a tennis match on TV.
I like how they were playing a hardcourt slugfest on red clay.
These two met four times at the French Open. Courier got a surprise win in 1989, Agassi won in 1990, the Courier won again in 1991 and 1992.
thank you. please upload more Agassi matches
I have a few more. Will do.
Wow! Amazing quality! Thank you for uploading this. Do you happen to have the final from that year between Agassi and Gomez?
No sorry I don’t.
Spoiler much?
Courier has a different serve motion back then which I like, he had that shoulder turn.
0:06 get outta my way!
