In the infamous paper trail there is a quiz online that you can take to earn karma in game and one of the questions asks about what happened in New Marais and it said "Approximately 90% of conduits all over the world mysteriously died when The Beast was destroyed in New Marais. But some conduits managed to survive-even some who were present at New Marais at the time of The Beast’s destruction. To this day, we do not know why some perished and others survived, but we suspect some kind of Ray Field Radiation event occurred." Not the most solid explanation but they left it open to elaborate on in the next installment if there is one.
I see. They probably should have brought it up in the game itself.
In Cole's legacy, they say that the conduit gene evolved to the point that you don't need to use a Ray Sphere to turn your powers on.

I feel like the 'good' powers were just a little better in terms of convenience and thats probably why more people chose to be good. The 'evil' powers were nice for blowin shit up and not worrying about civilians tho.
@@MrMateo415 The problem with a evil ending is that Beast Cole cant be beaten without another RFI so it would make a troubling sequel, that would be following most of infamous 2´s storyline, unless they made a prequel or something.
Sebas G was it ever said that Beast Cole was immortal? Because if not they could’ve made a sequel many decades later with Cole dying of natural causes. The whole everyone are conduits thing can also be solved by establishing that most of the population only got lesser powers like immunity to only a certain element or having laser eyes. That could actually help with creating interesting enemies to fight.

Maybe with canonical "good" ending where Cole sacrifices himself and all non conduits, the genes for being a conduit didn't get wiped out. Just the living conduits died. So the non conduits can have kids who just may have some dormant conduit genes that can be unlocked due to whatever reasons. That can possibly explain why all conduits are not extinct when infamous second son comes out. Just a reach in the dark but something to think on lol.

About Kessler's age; given how being a Conduit tends to greatly enhance the human body (complete immunity to fall damage, not succumbing to injuries that'd cripple a normal person instantly such as bullets and bombs), I'd say it's not TOO much of a stretch to say Kessler was an elderly man when he fought Cole.

I'm a year late, but I'm glad someone finally publicly acknowledged the fact that Infamous: Second Son shouldn't have existed if the good ending was canonical. I was a huge fan of the series until Second Son ignored the story rules they established.

Honestly Cole can come back and it wouldn't be a stretch yet but Delson wouuld make a better villain as he range of powers has no scale at who is to say that Delson can't become a legion like character with the powers imprinting on him making his semi-crazy.

jlwest23 Delsin Powers bring up such creative freedom for where the gameplay could go, imagine wire powers that could swing you around like the tether bolt in Infamous 2, or shadow powers for stealth you can enter any shadow and lean out of it to silently strangle somebody. I hope that if SP makes another infamous after Ghost of Tsushima that they really get creative with the power usage

At the very start, he seemed a bit uncomfortable with his deeds.
Cole was well balanced and believable as both a hero and a villain. Delsin, no matter how much Sucker Punch and Troy Baker tried, was a hero through and through. Delsin’s villainous counterpart just paled in comparison to Cole’s.
Would have liked to see Cole become the villain. I liked how the did it in Prototype 2, and they should have done it in inFamous Second Sons

My guess for the conduits surviving was that somehow those with the gene but weren't active yet survived. It's flimsy, given that one would assume that simply having the gene would mean the RFI would kill regardless of the gene being active or not, but this is comic book writing, so it's not totally outside the realm of what you'd see in such fiction. Still, they could have maybe gone for a longer time skip and have it that the gene somehow resurfaced. In any case, I'd still like to see them explore the evil ending, either with a powerful Cole having to decide the final fate of the world or a new conduit character who tries to usher in peace with the new world order.
Honestly, after just playing second son, I think there is much potential in the evil ending combined with the good ending of the second. Its implied that the lightning bolt that hit the boat could have revived cole and Delsin when pushed tends to seem power hungry even in good cutscenes and the evil ending could lead to a distaught Delsin slowly losing it and becoming the new beast with all the powers he gathers

I never see this series as a moral choice game, more like a super hero game where you're punished slightly whenever you accidentally kill civillians

If I remember right, Evil Cole has much more AOE damage, handling groups better, while Good Cole has much more focused abilities, needing to take out targets one at a time.
Also, there is only a small punishment for being evil [gameplay wise], civilians will try to attack you and cops will fire on sight. While it's the opposite for the good path.

The reappearance of conduits was explained in Cole's legacy (from what I remember) : not 100% of them were killed when Cole sacrificed himself that's when Second Son starts 🤔😂

I was born in 2000 and now im eighteen, Delsin is definitely not fucking 19.
Also, while Seattle is way way way fucking smaller in this game and seems more like Aberdeen than Seattle (que the nirvana) they did a good job setting Seattle's tone. It really did feel and look like Seattle color wise. (The space needle is way taller though)

The. Thunther is him traveling through time. He goes back and saves Trish and stops every experiment that was ever made. The plague never happens and he lives a happier life- Infamous 3.

I'm late but from what I've pieced together and the most accepted theory for how there are conduits in infamous second son is when conduits were wiped out, it didn't actually wipe out all of them. Somehow some survived and other were even awakened. In the wake of the civil unrest continuing by the war between conduits and humans, that lead to the DUP and the events of second son
The infamous 2 evil karma ending is SOO overlooked, its obviously my hardest hit of sadness i experienced as a kid. Facing zeke made me cry for a month straight
fun fact, the second Time I finished Infamous I went from good to bad karma near the ending, and wasn't infamous yet at the time of the final cutscene and Delsin didn't kill his tribe at the end (no aternate ending, they just too out the scene)

The ray sphere imploding in the first infamous is what caused John to obtain his powers
So if Kesler didn't try to move the ray sphere or John didn't "help" (He didn't do much) on the docks, he wouldn't have become the beast.
But that was a test for Cole, so Kesler was gonna do it no matter what.
Which means if John wasn't such a hero, he wouldn't be the beast

Just one comment. Its mentioned in dead drops Kessler tends to vanish for years on end and looks exactly the same when he returns. It's more or less saying he travels fowards in time as well as back and so the time frame more likely he travels back to around 1937-47. Hes still most likely in his 50-60 because he does stick around to age for years
Not possible as Cole says Kessler took a ONE WAY trip back in time. My guess is that he just shows up randomlyvto monitor progress.

Also, still doesn't explain how he's been around since he first took over the suns and is still younger looking than the boy he overthrew by the game' start.

Honestly the version of how Conduits survive that I went with is that there is a separate version of the gene that wasn't affected. Keeps everything nice and simple. (and helps explain why we go from fire, ice, and electricity, to more out there powers like neon, paper, and wire.)

Also this would be a great way to explain how kessler (cole) and the beast got their powers without a RAy sphere, and perhaps even explain why conduits exist after coles sacrifice.
My personal idea is that sometime in 2013/14 after kessler (cole) got married to trish, the world was hit by a solar flare that contained ray field radiation, which gave conduits powers in the kessler timeline but also in the second son timeline. kessler then goes back in time and takes over the first sons to create a device that would recreate the solar flare via ray sphere
I remember in Cole's legacy there was a line about conduits returning 2 years after Cole's death

I really like the rout that sucker punch took with second son but now since Delsin ‘s story arguably over they could pursue their original idea with infamous 2 evil ending. I would love to see how that story could develop.

I think it's stated somewhere that Kessler is close to or over a hundred years old. He's using some kind of cybernetics to keep himself going and to constantly feed him electricity. And during the final boss fight there are point where Kessler is visibly exhausted after using a lot of power, suggesting his advanced age.
I think they say in second son the ending from the second game killed all conduits for a time but a new generation was born

If I remember correctly they do adress the survival of the Conduits at some point in the story of Second Son, and it's said that most of the Conduits were killed but a very few of them actually survived.

Note: the only reason why the good endings are cannon is because they go off of the trophies. More people have picked the good ending in every game so it always based off of the good ending. If more people did the bad ending, the sequels would be based off the bad endings.
If I was sucker punch I would release a remaster the first two games adding a new ending (which requires completion of both of the other endings which is easier with some of the changes to the remaster such as making the choices more impactful) to the first two games being called the ture neutral ending (it requires a perfect mix off selfish and selfless orders and a combination actions that is given half of in each ending (so long as you are still on the true neutral path and have complete the second sewer level or blast core in the cass of two you will unlock a third tree which requires the cost of both sides of the upgrade (you also have Kessler style yellow powers of both games whilst on the true neutral path which will retroactively lead into second son as the key difference between the true neutral ending and original is that he ends up becoming and he still ends up using the RFI but but hesitates halfway through usage causing it to only kill the best and have instead locked him in a coma as his actions cured the plague before it could spread to far (in this ending Kuo and nix survive due to there proximity to him allowing them to absorb the energy from the beast which is directed at cole when John gives up saying that I know you wi succeed where I failed the endings lighting strike is revealed to be that be a storm which reacted to his power striking him head on and revealing to Zeke his survival which then kicks of the next gams which I can see several approaches to such playing as nix and Kuo through there own stories or cole in his own mind as he puts himself back together for the first chunk of it in a sort of driver San Francisco sort of fashion

I'm not sure if somebody hasn't mentioned it already, but the reason why some conduits survived is because when ray field inhibitor (RFI) was activated, just before the final decision, Zeke hit it with Amp, slightly damaging RFI, enough to spare a number of conduits and too little to leave out any ray field plague.
At least, that's the theory.
Apperently second son was never meant to be they originally planned to make a game following infamous 2 evil ending with Cole fighting against normal humans for the sake of the conduits.
But more people got the good ending and they didn't want players to be confused
i guess one reason the conduits are still a thing in infamous second son is cause being a conduit works like other genetic traits where there are reccesive and dominant genes and the conduit gene is reccesive (which would explain conduits being rare) and the inhibitor didnt kill people who were "carriers" of the conduit gene so when those people had children conduits started appearing again

My guess as to why there are still conduits is that the ray field inhibitor somehow activated a new type of conduit. Because there are so few in existence, nobody really realised they all activated at the same time. This explains their hipster powers (as oppose to traditional elemental type ones). This doesn't explain why the dup exists however.
I theorize that InFAMOUS 1's Evil Cole could single handingly defeat the Beast, Kessler didn't specifically say where or when Cole will get powerful or new powers, he just needed to get powerful somehow and defeat the Beast.Picking to activate the Ray Sphere improves Cole's power (seemingly due to the black lightning) and instantly puts you on the InFAMOUS karma.
i think the good ending in infamous 2 says that a lot of conduits died but not all of them because he said a lot.

I think in Second Son they explain it as those who have a REALLLLY strong conduit gene survived, allowimg for the Conduits to still exist. Even under threat of imprisonment/death.

I’m pretty sure Kessler arrived in the 1920s as Alden’s father joined the First Sons on 1890s and by the time he was 10, he was ousted. Kessler has spent DECADES, so arriving in the 70s doesn’t seem like a long time, unless you go by the picture of Dr.Wolfe in the second game’s intro cutscene and match it up with the ending in Infamous 1.
In the "paper trails" missions in Second Son, i believe they said something about how even though cole destoyed all the people with the conduit gene, it only killed people with a dominant conduit gene. Which caused people who werent conduits but had a small amount of the gene to be able to pass the conduit gene on to someone and have them have a dominant conduit gene. Which allowed conduits to rise again.
That suggests it'd take a generation for new conduits to start emerging, right? But Second Son is set only a few years later.
