Girl, I can tell that you understand salad on a spiritual level. Most people have no idea how delicious they can be but you get it. The homemade dressing is definitely the most important part. I love your ideas!
Hahah I love your comment! I never thought of my relationship with salad as spiritual, but I will take it :) Salads get a bad rep but they can be so satisfying and flavorful - that's why I wanted to make this video!
I completely Agree with Jens comment. Thank you for creating all these wonderful videos! The tips and tricks have helped me so much on my vegan journey.
your tempeh tacos are the best I have ever tried and I gave it to my Canadian neighbor and she is a fan of me now. Lolz. I want you to upload more salad recipes like high protein and weightloss friendly salads. Love your recipes so so much.
Finding you on TH-cam has been such a blessing. Because of health issues, I must go to plant-based eating. I was so depressed, thinking how dull and boring it would be. But no, you have proven you can eat filling, flavorful plant-based meals, and it's fantastic!
I'm not a vegan but I stumbled across your page a couple of months ago and have tried a bunch of your recipes. They're all so good, flavoursome and soulful. You've made me fall in love with lentils! Thank you :)
After a lifetime of not liking salads. Your video has opened my eyes to the possibilities of salads and now I can’t wait to try a bunch of new combinations. I will forever take with me the importance of texture in food. Thank you.
This video inspired me to buy lots of awesome salad supplies this week! Today I made a variation on the green bean/asparagus one, adding garbanzos, slice radishes, sliced cucumbers and fresh dill on top of it. I made a rice wine vinaigrette with whole grain mustard, and then topped the tossed salad with toasted sesame seeds. Amazing! Thanks for the motivation!
I've been vegan going on 8 years or so, and I think it was one of the best decisions I've ever made! But when I see some vegan recipe videos they're either very bland, or super junk food. It's nice to see someone making healthy food taste amazing! And I'm actually learning new tips and tricks!
I LOVE that you use actual measuring spoons~! It drives me nuts when the cooks/chefs on cooking shows say 1 teaspoon and proceed to put in what you know is more than 1 Tablespoon~!
So I made your salad dressing with the OJ (I was making fresh OJ/grapefruit juice anyway that morning) and put it on my salad to which I added blanched asparagus as well as beets with roasted walnuts, and it was SO DELICIOUS! I plan to make all your dressings and salads. Fantastic recipes! I sometimes forget to let you know that I have made your recipes and how much I enjoyed them, so just know that I do make them and am never disappointed!
we have a basic side salad with our dinner every night and our basic dressing is just olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper! sooo much better and healthier than store bought honestly idk why people buy salad dressings! all the ones u made in this video looked amazing ! my personal fav is a lemony tahini dressing, soooo good
Im a classicly trained chef from Berlin Germany. You did a really good job there :) "vegan thumb up" :) no1! selfmade dressings! acid sweetness crunchy (seeds/nuts) vegies greens sprouts ... if ppl took the time to understand the basic they all would eat those salads daily ...
I was attending a cooking class at my local Different Drummer (aka Cook’s Resource). The teacher asked who was willing to try sauerkraut on their salad. I figured, what the heck? Omg! What a delightful surprise! I would also suggest fresh fruit, like berries, diced peaches, or grapes, which lend a bit of sweetness to a green salad.
My favorite company dressing is to sauté onions, red peppers and garlic. Add some olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. Pour it ( hot) over a basic green salad. I lay some avacado slices on top and sprinkle with pomegranate seeds. I get lots of compliments..
The idea of an asparagus and green bean salad is life changing for me. Thank you so much! I dislike the leafyness of traditional salads so I'm definitely trying rhis
This is just what I needed! i always try to make a trip to the grocery store, but end up just standing in front of the vegetables section thinking and thinking of what I can actually make. Then I end up not getting anything cause I feel like it's overwhelming coordinating veggies for meals lol, thanks!
As I’m watching this amazing video I have an arugula salad with micro greens (arugula and mustard greens) and roasted asparagus with blueberries and golden raisins, and a tahini lime agave dressing. The fact that you incorporated those elements in your salad bases made me feel great. Thank you
I cannot believe I just discovered you! Just received your book all the way in Taiwan and look forward in trying all your recipes. Love your videos! Thank you for all your hard work.
Made all three dressings right now and they are all amazing!! Can't pick a favorite cause they all have a different flavor. Seriously love them all!! Easy to make too.
Great content! Over the last 5 years, I've experimented with many of these principles... and I now look forward to a "salad" 3x/day! Every salad has a different flavor profile and mix of textures and temperatures. Homemade hummus and pesto are two of my favorite "dressings."
Gosh, I was cracking up over the bloopers. I also love how delicious these salads look! Thanks so much for this salad video. I miss salad, but I also don’t like them to be boring. Honestly, I wouldn’t have ever thought to salt & pepper my greens had it not been for cooking school. One of my chefs said it like this: “I don’t know about you, but my salad greens don’t come seasoned.” I never forgot that lesson, and thought I was the only one that did that. Thanks for this video Nisha; I can’t wait to make salad now!
Salad season!!! (I know, salads year round - but in season makes it better). We have made our own salad dressings for years. Thanks for sharing what many of us already do (and providing a few more tricks) and sharing it with the world. Excellent video to remind, inspire and entertain us. Viewers - if you haven’t already tried any of these ideas or are just getting into salads this is a great time to start. All these tips take a salad from a side to a meal!!!
I've been eating a lot of salads lately but my standards have been getting a little boring and this is exactly the inspiration video I needed. I can hardly wait to experiment with your ideas. Thanks!
Wash Romaine by cutting off the bottom, separate the leaves in big bowl soak and rinse. Chop/ slice small and use salad spinner to remove water or drain a couple of times by tipping bowl over!
Great new word... combination of CRISP and CRUNCHY... CRUSPY! Well done to you, the guys from Oxford and Websters will be in touch with you soon for your contribution to their dictionaries. 😁👍🏾💯
These are great! I tried 2 out of 3 so far and I am excited for the third! So delicious! Never thought I would like fennel (never tasted it before this) but it was tasty. You have even inspired me to come up with some dressings and salad combos of my own and it is so fun. Never knew salads could be so filling without an animal product. Thank you so much for sharing!
Love these ideas. It is ready menu for vegans like me. I made a nice chart for my family and friends so they can pick and choose any dressing from three, choose any fresh veg, crunch and fresh herbs. Brilliant!
All these fresh greens are making me even more excited to go to the farmer's market to get some! There are so many fresh herbs available now, I never thought to use them as a base for salads. I'm going to have to try all these this week!
Yes! We just got back from the market a few hours ago :) I got that idea many years ago from Ottolenghi - I love using parsley, cilantro, dill and basil as the base for a salad!
Just had the green bean, garbanzo salad, it was excellent and very filling, appreciate your creativity and presentation, will make these salads in the next few days, loved it !!
I remember my mum always making various vinaigrette sauces for our salads but she never added the zests (let's be honest, kids don't like anything flowing in the sauce) but now, I am adding some pretty much every time :D Also, such a great concept to use dates as a sweetener! Will have to try it out next time! Also, lemon-tahini dressing is probably my go-to not only for salads ;D So delicious( I love tahini so much I sometimes just eat it with a spoon XD) and incredibly simple to make!
Citrus Date Dressing- 2 Medjool Dates Lemon juice (1/2) A tbsp orange juice 2-3 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp dejon mustard Coriander,cumin,paprika,bp- 1/4 tsp Salt A lil water
The chickpea catching shoot was just the best thing I have seen for the past 2 weeks. Nisha, you are a legend! Anyways, sending you all the love! Stay safe and sound!
You are such an incredible cook. I've learned so much from your videos! One thing I can't understand for the life of me though, is why you don't just get a lemon juicer
I made the tahini dressing and it was delicious! Ranch was one of the last non-vegan holdouts in my life and it’s been not only replaced but majorly upgraded! Not even going to miss you, ranch. ps. Right now corn is fresh, and I know you could dress up some corn on the cob! There’s got to be better than plain old butter and salt, I just haven’t found it yet (in case you’re looking for a new recipe project), Love ya!!!!
Truly the best salad dressings I’ve ever seen and amazing salads! I make my own salad dressing too but only one. So mow u can try different ones. I hate store bought dressings too. Nothing but crap in them and I always hate them the waste my money.
As an aspiring vegan and weight losser (weight loser? is that a word?), I swear this is the most helpful video I've ever seen on the internet. Thank you! How long can I store the homemade dressing in the fridge?
Fantastico! Looks delicious, great advice, and your on screen presence is charming. I subscribed. Looking forward to seeing you again. I’m fortunate in that I’m an American who retired to southern Italy. It is an agricultural region, Calabria, and we have a wealth of organic produce. Bon appetito!
I love your videos so so much, now I MUST make a salad for tonight! I made the 3 bean and veggie chili from your cookbook last night, and I think a salad along side it for leftovers is perfect!
Great inspiration! Thank you for encouraging home made dressing. I needed the reassurance. Love that your flavors are in season and you included textures. Yes girl! Can't wait to make these!!

This girl is my salad doppelgänger.
This is the first time I've that I've had all of the ingredients for a recipe before....it's a whole new world
I like how the mistakes are not edited out. To me, it shows she is a real person. Love that. "Crusp"
I love when you release a saturday morning video, it's my favorite ritual to watch your videos while drinking my coffee.

The little dance at 3:52 while shaking the bottle is so cute and relatable 😋
Haha thank you Preya! I felt like one of those bartenders at a fancy bar shaking up cocktails in a cocktail shaker 😆
@@RainbowPlantLife haha I understand 😄. This was a really informative video by the way 😊.

The chickpea toss was the BEST. Had to pause because I was laughing so hard.
Lol I'm glad you enjoyed that segment!
That part was awesome😂😂😂😂😂
Definitely a belly laugh ,at the toss🤣

As I’m watching this amazing video I have an arugula salad with micro greens (arugula and mustard greens) and roasted asparagus with blueberries and golden raisins, and a tahini lime agave dressing. The fact that you incorporated those elements in your salad bases made me feel great. Thank you

I've been eating a lot of salads lately but my standards have been getting a little boring and this is exactly the inspiration video I needed. I can hardly wait to experiment with your ideas. Thanks!
This is so well done, thank you! How I wish all instructional videos were so well done, with such excellent information!
This is completely true. Making your own dressing is key. I'd say it's the most important thing, along with using fresh ingredients.
Wash Romaine by cutting off the bottom, separate the leaves in big bowl soak and rinse. Chop/ slice small and use salad spinner to remove water or drain a couple of times by tipping bowl over!

And those are proper salads! You could use the green besn & asparagus salad on top of a salad of lettuces and greens. Delicious!
I love to add bread and butter pickles to my salad with blanched broccoli, bulgur wheat or quinoa, and tomatoes with pumpkin seeds on top.
