After a brief sojourn to other artists and genres I was wrestled back to my roots thanks to a local bar that has booked GD cover bands. It went by a few weeks ago and was reaffirmed and renewed. Reaffirmed by the wonderfully kind and spiritual fans who came out to enjoy community, friendship, and the music. I didn't realize how much I missed the uncomplicated, loving and unassuming nature of the people who miss live music in general and the Grateful Dead in particular. I reconnected with old friends, met new one and discovered 'closet' fans I would have never expected. As always, no shortage of surprises among a generous crowd. It saved me from myself.
Forever thankful for these concert videos. I'm 32 going on 33 and never had the honor to see Jerry and the boys play live. When my time is called and it's my turn to join the great gig in the sky, I'll finally get to see Jerry and Brent play.
This was my first Grateful Dead show. I was 17 years old, and had just graduated high school the month prior. Although I was merely a casual fan going in, it transformed how I listened to music, and what I wanted/expected out of a live show going forward. I'm SO glad that this performance is immortalized on film/video! (P.S. So sad seeing Brent here, and realizing how little time we had left with him!)
Could not have scribed that better myself. ME too. The era in which the GD broke into mainstream consciousness with their only chart topping hit. The accompanying Touch Of Grey music video is an absolute classic! I still remember it rotating on MTV like non-stop around this time. Friends who didn't know them wanted get to know them because of that video. Their resulting plunge into GD music was like a bottomless wellspring of good vibes, good times, and moments of spiritual enlightenment as the rest was, as they say, history ;) What a long strange trip it's been !! And we're ALL still on the ride!!

Amen!
Jerry, in my little mind, was the best Rock and Roll guitarist of all time!!! He changed his music at every concert, amazing man.
Absolutely Amen man
Yes!! The very best!
Yeah , you right
I agree 👍
dull as a stick
Never had seen this show before, but WOW! Anytime you see Jerry smile and dance, you know there something special that night. Miss them sooo much...
yes and Phil sang, i have not seenthis either.
What I remember clearly from my Grateful Dead concert days, is the feeling I would get, that I was participating in the creation of the music.
@ Paul Maggiar You were, Sir. You were!!!
Forever thankful for these concert videos. I'm 32 going on 33 and never had the honor to see Jerry and the boys play live. When my time is called and it's my turn to join the great gig in the sky, I'll finally get to see Jerry and Brent
play.
Amen, me too in the sky...
I’m sure u & uyall will for sure in my soul I believe this to b true ! 🙏🏻😇
Lookin Forward To That Myself!!

I love the Grateful Dead so much. All of it. From pig to Brent, to dead and company now. Such amazing musicians.
I agree so much with u my friend !
Turn on your love light.
We survived all these years... thanks for the memories
❤
This was my first Grateful Dead show. I was 17 years old, and had just graduated high school the month prior. Although I was merely a casual fan going in, it transformed how I listened to music, and what I wanted/expected out of a live show going forward. I'm SO glad that this performance is immortalized on film/video!
(P.S. So sad seeing Brent here, and realizing how little time we had left with him!)
That’s really neat :) What an awesome graduation celebration ✌️💜🌈
Could not have scribed that better myself.
ME too. Illinois and WS. shows 87' + and then traveled for a while
plane flights

I fell in love with the cowboy stuff
Had Jerry smile at me my first show front row center. that was a moment. 75 shows later the asshat up and dies on us. What a jerk.
@@marko363636 was never about you bud, glad he gave you some great memories, but you're not on his time line...
Gave You & the World more than enough.
He would of wanted you to let it go to appreciate your own life journey.
What show is this? I know its not CA, and east of the Rockies
Seems like one of the more sober memories of Brent that come to mind or what’s left of it lol
Was at this show-drove out in morning from philly, after show drove all night to be at work on Mon.Was absolutely worth it
I wish I knew, at the time, that this wasn't gonna go on forever! I miss it!
but it is forever beyond time!
you have'nt lived untill you have been to a dead concert long live all of us 8/14 2020
Its not the same
Growing up with the dead I never get tired of hearing the boys but my new friend billy and his boys are joining the party I love it🙏😁👍👍😎
These guys come by once in a life time. They are all complete genius, musically, vocally, instrument playing, creating incredible sounds.
It’s so true I also feel this way about ever evolving billy(Garcia)strings
To think 2 weeks later Brent passed.... That hurt. I loved him well and felt the loss keenly. His soulful music lives on in my heart. He was a gent on tour. RIP friend
Brent was so incredible. He and a Jerry really played well of of each other. No one really talks of how painful it was for Jerry after Brent passed
I want someone who looks at me like Jerry would look at Brent.
didn't he pass away from oddly to much wine and heroin? In his pool? Sad to say the least.
I hung with him and Healy one night in Miami, he was a super cool brother. Miss him still.
The World. I had not ever cried at a show.. until this one! All I could feel was BRENT!
For the full re-enacted dead show, check out Dark Star Orchestra. They bring out the best The Dead had to offer!
For the four hundred and twentieth time I am rolling to this Brutha and sisters
I always love Bill’s drum work.
Was at this show and it was HOT beyond belief. Thanks to genghis and chucko for hooking us up with the best seating arrangement ever- 2nd row seats and a private box w/AC. Heated up by the stage and then cooled off in the box. The group switched places when the temp was overwhelming in order not to fry your brain and lose your mind.
@Bruce Amshel: I never lost my mind. I gave it away a few times, but it comes back to laugh at me every once in awhile...I get shown the light! And I love it! 😋😻
I was at this show and still have my ticket stub...Section 105, Row KK, Seat 20. I also have it on DVD but I am very glad it'll be available on TH-cam. Thank you!
I had a General Admittance ticket and was on the field. Didn't CSN open for the band that day?
Where was this show?
@@ChuckHardwick Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA on 7/8/1990.
Heart of Gold band always. Life sustaining since first show in 73. Grateful to have been there until this day.
My first show was in 73 my parents took me I was 4 and years later I found my people waiting on me and knew I was home I feel the same way about billy(Garcia) strings
The correct way to play the grateful Dead in all of God's Glory. Amen love peace ✌️
I don’t think there is a wrong way to listen to and love the Dead.
I hung out with Brent too. the guy he was. just a guy I could say thanks for the show when we would hook up after them here and there. drink beer and party. at alpine one year it was late and he asked.me if he had a day off. yes Brent no show for a few days. smiled like a kid at snow day. we went boating on lake Geneva the next day. mikey and bill joined us. the good old days. yes I miss him too. lets just be glad for the time we knew him hey"" Mr fantasy " these archives are live savers. thanks. and you other heads thanks for staying engaged. so many roads. see ya all eventually. What? did they dig him up ? Brent would of still smoked him
I've been practicing Silat and Escrima since 1993 and Taiji, Bagua and Xingyi since 2008. I like practicing slow twisting and circling steps with blades. It nourishes my brain and I circulate my chi to stay healthy and massage my internal organs to stay soft and limber.
The first thing I would teach someone is how to relax and root and circulate Qi. After relaxing, someone can learn basic Gong Fu!

As a bass guitarist, I enjoy the close-ups of Phil Lesch playing his.
@ saseassociates *Lesh*
I saw them in Mtn View, 3 nights in June, '90. I quit housekeeping in Yosemite to go. Saw them Jackson, Ms '78', and in Atlanta, '89. I miss those days, but now I listen to a different show every day.
That's was me climbing in the stands behind the band, some prankster had slipped a 10 strip in my beverage, nuff said.😂😂😂😪 I'm catching the show for the 1st time here.
Thanks Grateful Dead for the adventure of finding my way back home.
listen to & watch 6/14/91 RFK & you'll see the same tightness with the band but, well you be the judge for yourself just how good the show is, best thing is both are stadium shows.
Never trust a prankster 🤣🤪. But you know who you can always trust😂😇❤️⚡️💙

Best 14 years of my musical life were spent at Dead shows. Now we have Phish and Billy Strings! Life has been good to me!
Good for u that u get the chance to b there @ different concerts !
If I could be instantly transported to any time or place in Human History I think this show would be where I would choose. The good vibes are off the charts!!
i wish i could go back to this time, this place, this show. my first roadtrip from philly to pittsburgh. strangers stopping strangers to shake hands on br stops lol
Lots of time travellers at these shows
I used to hitchhike but then my cousin would borrow a car from the woman he was caring for , they r both gone now ! So sad 🥲😢😥🥵
This is an amazing era of the dead.
Took my little bro to his first show that day! I was on tour and he and his buds came to meet us and what a great day we had! CSN was the opener if memory serves me right...
CSN was like a double bonus, didn't know they had a opener;let alone every song being holy shit this is CSN...excellent airplane hits helped too!

Shit takes alot of band members out...RIP all
My first concert ever and still the greatest!!!
My first show was a few nights following this show at Deer Creek. I went from a 16 year old metal head to a dead head over night. It was a baptism of the soul and forever changed the course of my life. I never made a 3 rivers show unfortunately. My wife went to the 95 show and invited me. Who knows... maybe if I would have said yes we would now have been married 28 years instead of 11.
My first Dead concert. I went with my brother. The band was in excellent form. So sad that Jerry and Brent are no longer with us. Extremely grateful for the posting of this concert. Thanks
That's so cool. I saw both east and west coast shows that year. Being a California kid, I was simply not prepared for what an East Coast show was. Holy Crap! Flying whiskey bottles in the parking lot.
well dont forget Ron, pig and Vince
@@thepaulexperience2429 And Keith!
I was here - a beautiful day as it looks ..thank you thank you all - band- crew- heads ! So much love !!
The best time I have ever had is still the best time ever had to go to a dead show and I just miss the best of your shows and I will always be a dead head and happy to say that dead changed me in so many ways and I will always love you and will always be a dead head till my time is over keep playing your stuff is still the best of all the music that is out there and I am still a happy to be a part of the dead head family for life play on play on
The era in which the GD broke into mainstream consciousness with their only chart topping hit.
Forever until we all go to the other side with all of them ! Our family ! ❤️🌹☮️🙏🏻💀☠️🥳🎶😇😍🥰😘
I'll never forget that evening when they asked us to come back in for that taping it was so crazy fun with Bill the drummer telling off the wall jokes as we all partied it up!

Hometown show. Epic. The second set CHANGED me forever. Prob. my most spiritual experience at a GD show. 19 yrs old , mighta missed a lot in the 70s but it was just the right timing for me to be there… such a short time to be there and a long time to be gone🤷🏻-as always.

When the dead come to Roanoke 1987. I remember meeting micro blotter 🔹dot head💯💀💪🏻✌🏻 any of y'all ever met him
High as f**k at this show in many ways, the view from the top of the stadium was awesome, rivers , bridges and city, a raging party in the lot before and after the show, a really, really good day. Thank you, Grateful Dead.
First time I heard Estimated Prophet live, 77? I believe, opening night at the Palladium in NYC, 5th row center, 4 of us trippin on window pane - you get the idea - it was a transcendent, ok religious experience. They were so unbelievably tight. Among the best Dead shows ever for this dude. First show '73 Roosevelt Stadium.
My family is the Grateful dead. Alive and well. I know I will see you all at time someday.. Much love Lisa , Monasha Jerry, Brent and the gang. Party on!!
Wow, the interplay between Jerry & Bob, right after Space is amazing! What a great show, thanks for posting this one!

Firing on all cylinders. Spring, Summer 1990 was epic. I was devastated over Brent.
What a great show. CSN opener. We were in the 30th row and the sound was phenomenal. Estimated was off the hook. I could hear Weir's wailz long into the night. Remember when the skeleton's leg fell off during "Miracle"? Man, those were the days. RIP Brent & Jerry
