Thank you nurses 🙏🏼! I had my total thyroid surgery removed 4 weeks ago .I was crying at my hospital bed because I was not able to swallow the Tylenol pills 💊, the big calcium pills , I was not able to drink normally and my nurse was kind with me checking on me and trying to help me to relax to take my medicine.
I had thyroid surgery in 1982 to remove the right side, then the left side in 2006. If the dose of thyroid medicine is too high it can cause the heart to beat too fast and or palpatate.. If you haven't yet, you might want to see an endocrinologist. It can be hard to regulate the hormones, and deal with the side effects of thyroid removal. Hang in there, I was 25 when I had my first surgery and have been taking thyroid med ever since. Glad to see your feeling better.
I’m 24 and just had my thyroidectomy 2 days ago. The pain so annoying. Not necessarily the incision pain but neck pain in general. The tightness is annoying and I just want to crack my neck but I can’t haha. I really hope you’re able to overcome whatever issues you have in the future and hopefully it isn’t anything too crazy. Your video has helped calm my nerves a little bit so I appreciate you sharing your thoughts❤️

Hi. I found your video just now, i also had my total thyroidectomy with left lymph node dissection on nov 3,2020. I had stage 1 papillary carcinoma. Thank you for sharing your story. I am also experiencing same swelling and tightness as you do and knowing this brings a lot of comfort that I am not alone. 38 nodes! Omg...the aggressive form of cancer found is scary, let’s hope it was contained in the node. There are people who defy the odds and I believe sincerely that you are one of them. @@SJdC2004 thanks for the quick reply. I'm also facing surgery due to uncountable nodules, my doc can't tell how many of them are there. Did the surgery affect your mood in any way? I feel super depressed and anxious and I'm scared it'll get worse (even though my doc says it'll get better, I just don't know and I feel very alone)
@@OzmaOfOzz Hi Beverly. It is a long road to recovery. At first the prospect of a neck dissection terrified me. After it was over, I had these surgical pumps in me for a short time, followed by this awful, praline colored, smelly lymphatic fluid that oozed out like a flood forever! I don't want to scare you. You will be given powerful meds so you really won't experience pain for any significant amount of time. Just take those pain meds, and you will be nice and comfortable. It looks hideous in the beginning, but it heals up pretty quickly. My scar is almost totally unnoticeable now, unless I go out of my way to show people. I had radiation afterward. My moods were really bad. The worst thing was losing my sense of taste, and I got so skinny from the radiation and difficulty swallowing, so I got a feeding tube. I would suddenly start crying uncontrollably. Everything was an emotional trigger that resulted in this uncontrollable crying. All told, it took me about a year before I was myself again physically and emotionally and back to my normal weight. If you just have a thyroidectomy, the process is really very safe and easy, with very little complications to speak of, but you will need to be on artificial thyroid hormone. Talk about it with your doctor, or you can talk to me here again whenever you like. It was an emotional roller coaster, but I fully recovered from Stage 4 papillary thyroid cancer.
I am so sorry for the news. I just had a left hemithyroidectomy. They found Hurthle cells that in the solid portion of a nodule. Thank you for the helpful information. I know what to expect if they need to take the other lobe. Continue to be strong girlfriend!!
OK, I had full thyroidectomy for metastatic papillary thyroid cancer 10 days ago. No pain and did not need paracetamol let alone morphine. About 100 lymph nodes gone from centre and right side. I’m on 200ug levothyroxine for my 109kg. My T4 is up at 20 and TSH down to 2.3 but too soon to start messing with doses. Actually feel more energetic and less fatigued than previously. I was on the block for 8 hours and I half expected cheeses sandwich crumbs in my wound! All in all, excellent team of surgeons. I’m in Edinburgh so everything free of charge. Next I have a full spine MRI before Iodide 131 treatment - the silver bullet. Maybe I’m just lucky but I’m hugely grateful to the NHS and my family. I am 69 years old 😄. Will be speaking with an endich endichrinoligist about free T3, reverse T3 and Zn and Se supplements. In short, absolutely nothing to worry about.
I am getting a partial thyroidectomy for cancer. I drip in sweat now, its most embarrassing from my head, but I don't know if you have this in your area but I buy drysol. It works really well for the sweating/hot flashes you should try it
Oh sweetie. Tomorrow will be 1 month since my complete thyroidectomy. Fortunately, mine was benign. My mom’s was malignant 40 years ago. My pathology reports came back clear. Dozens of marble sized nodules were removed from all over, hence the complete removal. They replanted three of my parathyroid. I am currently in 200 mcg Levothyroxine daily. My recovery was so different from yours. Your story breaks my heart! I have looked for more recent updates. I would love to know how you are doing right now. Covid has hit since this video was made and I would love to check on you hormonally and mentally. 🤟🏻🙏🏻

You came up next video, it's like, OMG! She actually had the same EXACT surgery I'm going to have this Wednesday May 11th. I thank you so much for your video, I'm scared to heck, my surgeon is an amazing man, the whole team is amazing, it's the after care, yeah, omg...love, love my family and husband, but man can they get me going! Does anyone have any recommendations on recovery after thyroidectomy with neck dissection? I'm going to meal prep but I'm wondering about sleeping tips? Any special pillows? Neck brace? Etc. I would appreciate any tips ❤
Finding your Cancer in the first place is referred to as an " Incidental finding" but believe me not " Coincidental Finding" God has big plans for you Brooke, I bet it's to help others. You obviously have an Angel watching over you I would say. I hope it is not considered nosey of me to ask this but may I ask what was your initial unrelated issue that led you to go to the Doctor in the first place when your Thyroid Cancer was discovered? I know for myself I have had years of a sore throat and Nodules removed and infections all in the throat area over and over, and now for the first time last week i had a Neck scan done. They put me in the scanner brought me out and put me back in again asking me to unbutton my blouse the second time. No one so far is saying anything about my results, I asked but they said they didn't receive my CT scan results but the Radiologist said to me that is not true, she said she signed off on the results herself so I am not sure what to believe or who . I was able to view my CT scans online but the Radiologists summary that is suppose to be included with the scans was not included this time. It's been over a week and I am thinking " Well he would have called wouldn't he if something was really wrong?". I hope he would anyway. Bless you and thank you for sharing your experience it's helpful to know there are people out there who are willing to share the truth.
So happy you're doing great!!! Did you have any symptoms of thyroid issues before you had your ct scan for the unrelated issue? Also, were your glands swollen before being removed?
@@teddymills4528 It’s been 8 weeks, not a pound, I do need more sleep at night and I can use a nap during the day. I’ve been on 1 grain of desiccated thyroid for the past 6 years, so that may be helping a bit, I have an appointment with Dr for dose increase.
@@joelescano3223 So that means you get tired easily ? I have grave disease and I’ve been on medication for almost 5 months now pending surgery. I think next month. Prior to being on that medication, I lost a lot of weight but now my weight is 80kg now and I also lost a lot of hair but my hair is growing nicely now. I almost lost my sight too. I read that most people gain weight after the surgery. Ps I’m a man.
