Hi Brooke! 1 week post total thyroidectomy here awaiting pathology but wanted to know what synthetic thyroid medication you are on and the dosage? I am soooo tired wondering if this is normal. Blessing and prayers for you!

Thyro injections will make u super tired btw. If u are able I would recommend not having too much to do that week. Trust me. You’re going to be very sluggish. Also, My neck was swollen for 6 months after my dissection. It just takes time 😀😀😀😘😘😘

Let me know if u have any LID questions. I got acne too when I first started my meds but it levels out after a while. You will probably notice you lose a little weight and lose a little hair too. Don’t be scared. It eventually levels out. Good luck to you, girlfriend. Isolation is hard. I’ve done it two times so far but you got this. 😘

Just curious if your doctors said it was ok to go to a hotel for your isolation after RAI? I would think this would endanger others at the hotel and leave radiation behind in the room. I’m likely facing RAI myself and not sure where I will go for the isolation. Do you have the option to stay in the hospital for this?

Amy Lambright my doctors told me to go home or to a hotel. They said that by the time I leave the hotel any radioactive iodine residue would have died off. I have heard rumors of radioactive iodine being transferred through a wall, etc. my doctor told me that these statements were un true and that the only thing I should avoid is being in close proximity to others for extended periods of time (3 mins or more) and contact with bodily fluid. I plan to stay to myself completely just to play it safe.

Hormones so they can give the low dose pill for the 2nd day scan.

Sirendipity Britt I had my second surgery because I noticed a lump next to the thyroid two weeks post op from my TT.😓. the lump was biopsied and surgery was needed. They missed some nodules on my first surgery 😓☹️
