To be fair, Denmark's flag is the oldest national flag still in use, maybe it was right and everyone else is wrong.
Sparx632 even if its the oldest flag it doesnt mean that it can say what other flags should look like. flags are based on history and how they portrayed themselves (the people)

Denmark's flag holds the record for the oldest continuously used flag though, and of the three current designs/proportions Denmark is slightly older (1219 vs Austria in 1230 and Latvia in 1280).

The book “flags of the world” by Whitney Smith gives more information on the Liberian counties. If I remember correctly he says that they were all designed by a Liberian President on his birthday.

I find the state flags of the United States interesting, the flag of Hawaii has a Union Jack on it. Also the city flags of the United States are interesting, my favourite is the Flag of Chicago.

I live in the US. Our state flags are terrible. Multiple states are based off of confederate flags, (chicago isnt a state), and if u try to draw the state flag of West Virginia or Florida, it is impossible. ( It is a white flag with 4 red diagonal lines and a golden circle with an extremely detailed picture of ppl doing stuff.) Stuff, as most people don't even know what in the world the people are doing........ move me to Liberia plez.

The reason behind the Liberian Flag being similar to the American flag was because there was a back to Africa program and African Americans went to Liberia, their former War Criminal (found guilty under International Criminal Court) Charles Taylor has a rather Anglofied name, well that is because he was and is American born and raised not African. The native Liberians HATE the African American colonists as they call them, they claim these black americans come with attitude problems, violent tendencies, entitlement issues and acting like they are all Kings when in Africa if they was born and raised there and acted like that, they would find themselves hacked to death in no time either by Tribal Court or from gangsters there or from War Lords. They eventually overthrew the black Americans under Charles Taylor and they democratically elected Africa's first female President.

Liberia has an American looking flag bc it was an American colony for black freedmen. It gained independence in 1846 I believe, which was before the so called “scramble for Africa”, and it survived based on its status as as reliable American client, which it would remain until the last few decades when the Americo-Liberians were overthrown and the country erupted into civil war, poverty and disease, culminating in the 2014 Ebola outbreak.
