- No nonsense guide on replacing the Crankshaft Sensor in Prince engines. This one is a Citroen DS5 with the 1.6 THP, EP6. This should be the same on the Citroen DS3, DS4, Peugeot 3008, 5008, RCZ, Mini R55, R56, and BMWs with the N12 and N14 engine.
OE Part Numbers:
BMW 13627561753
CITROËN 1920LR
MINI 13627561753
PEUGEOT 1920LR
I used FEBI BILSTEIN 31088
I see it's the same crankshaft sensor that Peugeot 207 1.6 VTi, so I hope I can replace it, and finally solve the erratic engine function. Thanks a lot for the video!
I just wanna ask a question about ds4?
The engine light is on and gives an error on the screen P0016... Is this one the crank sensor on video should i change Or is there another sensor.. After change Motor engine Light will off Or not?
Thanks for your answer and help from now
Is it the same for 1.2 puretch? I got 1337 and 1336 trouble codes- changed spark plugs now will chanve the coils then i guess should go for these sensors but where is the camshaft sensor?
Do you mean camshaft or crankshaft sensor?
@@HeroRepairs now i mean the crank shaft sensor on 1.2 puretech engine, i try to change it myself, will I be able to align it properly, does it take any special tools for alignement?
@@boxingphysique The sensor shouldn't need any special tools for alignment. It's just measuring pulse time on the crank rotor teeth.
Thank's for the info saved me a long search..
Hi, great video thanks. I have a problem with obd code p0016, do you think I can solve it by changing the sensor?
Worth a try given how cheap it is, but honestly these engines are notorious for stretching the timing chain so I suspect that's the real issue.
is sure to be found in it
citroen ds4 so chic 2013 ?
I have a fault code p1339
Engine lacks power and the fan works powerfully
Thank you very much
Did you find a resolution? I am struggling with the same issue, happened after I changed the high pressure fuel pump
@sup1ch I did not find a solution unfortunately
@@Sonego78 did you change the crankshaft sensor? I will be changing it soon hoping for some good results.....
@@sup1ch I didn't change
the crankshaft sensor, Hope it helps, please update
Hi. Thanks for your vidéo. Does it have a p0017 fault code?
On these engines any cam/crank code is 99% due to a stretched timing chain, it is extremely common. However replacing the sensors is a cheap and quick way to rule them out.
@@HeroRepairs sure but i just replaced the cover lol. Misfires could stretch the timing chain?
@@kyomaster87 did you check the chain for stretch while you had the cover off?
It's possible, but usually the stretch occurs over a long time.
@@HeroRepairs i checked the stretch and it was pretty fine. Plus it was controlled like 2 years ago
@@kyomaster87 For that code I believe it is either going to be faulty sensors, faulty wiring, faulty vvt solenoid, or a stretched timing chain.
Hi, my ds5 drives normally and suddenly displayed engine fault with codes p1336 and p1340 and loses power on acceleration with engine being rough on idle. After clearing the codes, it reappears in a few days. Should i look to replace cam or crankshaft sensor? I will also replace the spark plug and ignition coils since its at 120,000 km now.
My Peugeot 207 has the same issue. Usually when it starts in "cold" the engine works fine. After a while driving with the engine and coolant in normal temperature the car stars jolting when the car stops and that's when the engine light turns on in the dashboard and the scanner give me the codes P1336, P1340 and P000B. I've replaced the camshaft sensor, but the issue still persist. I've also have replaced the coils, spark plugs, and many other things, so this sensor is my last hope.
I would start with Spark Plugs and Coils as those are both misfire codes, and it's a common issue. p1340 is misfire on cylinder 4. Start by swapping the coil from 4 to 3 and see if the code follows. If not then do the same with the spark plug. That should identify the problem. I have a video showing how to swap plugs/coils. Remember that cylinder numbers run from right to left when looking at the engine from the front. So 1 is by the gearbox, 4 is by the drive belt.
@@HeroRepairs hey thanks for the response. I changed the plugs and the coils as well as the crankshaft sensor. The issue still remains and starting to think my HPFP has gone bad after 120000km and 11 years. Is there anything else i could check before buying a new hpfp
@@ajmmods7720 if you have diagbox or another scan tool you will be able to get live fuel pressure data which will tell you if the HPFP is faulty or not.
@@HeroRepairs how much is the normal pressure fuel ?
Hello from Thailand i been watching your video for ds5, and engine seem to same with ds3. It really helpful.
Pls help to recommand OBD2 scanner to check for this car
Tks tks!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hello, I'm glad you've found my videos helpful. For basic engine codes any cheap obd2 scanner should work. For proper codes and diagnostics I recommend getting diagbox/lexia. You run it from a laptop and it gives very detailed information.
You are great hero
