Great information Brian. Thanks for doing all this work you do for us. Hope you have your BEST season yet.
Really appreciate that! Hope you have a great season as well.
Will this be a podcast?
Yes. Thanks for the reminder! Lol. I’ll try to get it posted today.
I don't understand why you wouldn't gut the animal. If you are not willing are able to do that. Stay out the woods.
I always gut mine near where they fall, because there is usually a long drag involved, but one of the deer processors close to me prefers you bring them in with the guts still in them to avoid getting dirt and debris in the chest cavity on the drag out. But I agree, anyone who deer hunts should be able to gut a deer!
Ever hear of the "gutless method"? That's how we would field dress elk or larger deer that need to be packed out a long ways. You can get all the meat, including the tenderloins, off the animal without opening the chest cavity. For me it just depends on where the deer falls. I shot one last year 150 yards from my house so I decided to just drag it home and butcher it without gutting it.
@stick__shooter Quartering big game in the field is totally different story. Mainly talking about small game. Something you drag to your truck or, as you said, your house. My comment was for the people who wanna hunt and kill but not put their hands on it no more than have too.
