Insect glaive has been my main in rise due to the insane movement you get with evade extender. And I am someone who has mained the Hammer with Lance as a close second in 3, Gen, and World. But I've noticed the true damage comes from IG being grounded so I only do flips and shit to reposition like to get to the tail.

HH is terrible in this, ryozo really simplified dumbing down monster hunter which is kinda sad for the sake of more and more low iq audience. HH being on single freaking note only, no encore, etc is disrespectful towards weapon origin from MH2 DOS on playstation 2.

Crowley Reid speed runners know it's cheesy that's why they choose it. The skill required is to know the monsters rng, but other weapons would need to practice other things on top of that. It is what it is.
What makes me the most frustrated is that the game starts players with the long sword, and then the first high rank weapon you get is a fucking long sword. Capcom was determined to make it even more popular than it was in world and iceborne.
@Weeb Tendency I did that but with dual blades despite not at all being familiar with them from world. just do what I did and pick up other weapons to hunt rakna kadaki. it's a great fight to try out new weapons. once you've found one you like try using it on harder monsters :) just remember that you don't know if you like a weapon until you've tried in on a hunt. the training area is just to grasp the controls and doesn't show you what a weapon truly has to offer.
As a Hammer main with the long sword as my secondary weapon, I can 100% confirm, that the Longsword is the most STUPIDLY overpowered weapon in the game.
Well… was is more apt, actually it got heavily nerfed in sunbreak to bring it more in line with other weapons. Motion values for Iai spirit slash was cut in half, Soaring kick also had its motion value reduced and its cooldown increased from 20 seconds to 30 seconds. On top of the increased challenge of Sunbreak monsters making it so playing it braindead will not save you
I know someone is going to say but it got a whole lot of other switch skills and to which i counter with. Yeah and so did every weapon in the game and each of their skills are good: Greatsword has Strong arm stance for instant TCS, Glaive got Awakened Kinsect attack for heavy damage, Hunting Horn got Sonic Bloom for support and damage

Lance actually can have some incredibly high DPS but to get it there take crazy skill. Look up some of the arena fights, guy hunts rajang in under 2 mins
@@shrimpbread7284 arena is not really a good indication for the strength of a weapon, mostly because the builds aren’t always balanced, if you look at regular speedruns you’ll see that while lance is still powerful and kills most monsters under 4 minutes it’s still outclassed by most other weapons Still my favorite and main tho

@@harlendcd7957 I started MHW with longsword, then tried out everything for a while and stuck with charge blade. Nothings better than hitting a combo with the exploding lightning transformer axe. Its completely over the top and I love it.

There is way more subtlety to the hammer than the long sword and that’s the point. When you are less subtle than the “unga bunga” weapon you have some serious issues.
@@OtioseFanatic I would actually disagree. Longsword has ease of play but a very high skill ceiling. Hammer does as well, but at the skill ceiling feels much lower. Longsword has a lot of different skills to react to specific different moments of time, which makes them more versatile but also more complicated; weapon sheathes, iajutsu, counters, etc. The Hammer has very little complexity by comparison. And I'm saying this as someone who mained Hammer way longer than Longsword. There are a lot of reasons folks get annoyed with Longsword users, but "simplicity" doesn't feel like it should be one of them.
The thing is Hammer has weaknesses youll need to play arround Longsword is simply an automatic win at this point, they made it so obscenely strong that it just takes the fun out of the game if you hunt with a longsword main in the group that and trips are nasty especially in older games (nowadays you just gotta slot in flinch free and limit your build a bit so you are able to play the fucking game) Tbh if a longsword player joins my hunting group they get kicked out imidiatly i just dont wanna deal with that broken bullshit
@@samstone1445 Lol. No, it doesnt. Gimmicks do not equal higher skill celing. In fact it often means a much lower one. Hammer users have to deal with a slowwer than average movement speed, a slow weapon that has a ridiculously low reach while dealing blunt damage meaning that they NEED to hang around the face of the monster (99% of the time the most dangerous part) to reamain effective all while having no guard or counter move, no built in flinch free, having the slowest dodge in the game with poor I-frames while also having to manage charge levels like a greatsword user because each level of charge completely changes your moveset WHILE KEEPING IN MIND that your charge moves drain stamina AS DOES YOUR DODGING meaning that if you do one you drain your potential to do the other and deal with all of that while not gettng carted over and over. Proper hammer use is less a skill celing and more of a skill Mt Everest. No celing in sight, only higher and higher climbs and people have died trying to get there. Meanwhile LS users have a faster movement speed, faster dodge with better frames, counter moves that can negate monster attacks while attacking back, all of their gimmicks run off of their own meter so doing most of your flashy moves will still leave you with stamina to duck out when you cock things up, built in flinch free, a frankly silly range with AoE and delayed damage moves, and their weapon does slashing damage so they can chill near the (relatively) safer ass of the monster and still remain effective (and thanks to that range AND speed actually can cut tails easier than any other weapon type). You can literally roll your face on your controller and be effective with LS. I know this from experience because i have actually done it to proove a point. I cut the tail and i didnt even fucking cart. The LS doesnt have a skill celing. it hs a skill crawlspace with some fancy gimmick moves.
@KoboldCantations Hoo boy, I think we're way too far apart here to find even a slight middle ground. Again, I've played a lot of Hammer, and while I love the weapon, I honestly think it's one of the easiest weapons out there. It was my first main weapon back in Tri, so I'm speaking as someone with hundreds of hours of just Hammer across the various games. Stamina management is not difficult in Rise. Being near the head is not significantly more difficult than being behind; heck, it's arguably harder on some monsters. The things you mention for Longsword (aside from built in Flinch Free and counters) apply to pretty much every bladed weapon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Hammer isn't fun, or good, or requires skill to play well. I'm also not saying that LS isn't a very strong weapon in Rise. But claiming that LS is just the easy mode zero skill weapon, especially in relation to relatively simple Hammer, is just ridiculous to me.
As a Charge Blade Main, I can say that the "S Tier" is a good place for those players that aren't going to read the entire 89 page instruction manual and practice with it an hour a day to make sure they understand it.
Still wondering why hammer though? It can be unyielding and difficult? I mean I make a ton of online friends being a hammer? But what's the deal. It's my first M.H. game but I always prefer the slow and methodic? All I do is knock the heavy think on it's butt every now and again. Most the monsters do not even allow me to frontal charge like I wanna. Why can't I just rock it?
Was here for lolz but now I'm gonna go back to dooting monsters to death. They keep running because they hear me coming (recently swapped my preferred music i imagine my hunter playing to the recent NieR crossover music in the ff14 NieR raids)
@@medivex3793 i all but joined the HH gang. Felt a bit on the slow slide in world so I couldn't really get into it. But Rise made it feel easier to learn (still a hard to master weapon; dedication to the art after all) as opposed to World having to worry about changes in combos as songs changed while learning the various monster patterns and tells (world was my 1st MH but I have started into GU on the side)
Insect glaive was my first weapon and got me into the series, so I really don't care if it's suboptimal or whatever. I just have fun using it (although tbh it was better in world, and I find myself using more Switch Axe in most cases).
@@thelotusking9901 when someone tells me it's bad it just kinda irritates me People hate it because people tend to not use the bug and just chain heavy vault attacks but literally just grab the three extracts (really only need the red and white if you're good at midair dodging) and make sure you don't waste all your time in the air because that's great for getting silkbind damage but you can hit while on the floor for a reason and you're good It's not a super complicated weapon it just looks cooler to use it wrong and that means a lot of people pick it up just to spam vault and the people who never picked up see that and both come to disrespect the weapon because one sees it as useless because they used it wrong and had a hard time and the other sees it as useless because they watch other people use it wrong Insect glaive needs at least an A tier
IG is master class. The problem is that most damage is done on the ground, which is stupid for a weapon that has such satisfying and visual pleasing aerial gameplay and animation. If they made it so the longer you were in the air the more damage it did, I'd be a die hard IG.
I mean the ground damage helps discourage people from just pretending to be a helicopter 24/7 because as an IG main from personal experience if you just spam the jump monsters can and WILL smack you out of the air
Ig can triple an output damage on the spear drop skill which is like a weaker rage slash. It slow to build up but still can attack. This time you have to know when to attack and the direction or you lose the multiplier.

Hey since this is a recent comment I have a need to add that as of now that sunbreak is out aerial insect glaive has been better than ever, with a lot of procs for elemental, while ground combos still do more damage, it's not as big of a difference as it used to be

It always happens. In world, I fought safi and I was using hammer. The monster fell down via mount and literally all the longsword users ran to the head. I wanted to bonk the monster to cause a stun but the fucking annoying trips prevented me from doing so.
If I knew at the time that Scott was gonna beak into my room through my window and stab me in throat while I slept, I would never have picked up long sword.
Honestly I'm quite happy with Lance not getting any real changes. A bit more damage or a built in threat increase would be nice but other than that the comfy, consistent DPS and survivability, being able to dismantle every monster with my poke, poke, poke, breaking everything as I go is nice.
@@flamingrubys11 Lance can deal a lot of Damage, but it’s not in big bursts like some of the other Weapons, it mainly deals its damage over the course of a Fight, low numbers but the point is that they have a consistent damage output, any time spent not attacking a Monster is time wasted on a Lance Tldr; don’t kick Lances you dick

As a HH main, I can confirm that it's less about buffing the team and more about breakdancing while playing a song called "You better give me the drop I want or else"
The buffs are more a "here now you are not trash anymore." than a "please let me help you big hunter oni chans." Scott is just salty because he firmly falls into category a and knows that he is only less trash will a HH is around.
For the record, I kind of forgot about the flips because I was having so much fun with the the bug in rise. Actually needing to micromanage it (no more auto attacking) and being able to get it out more often and keep it out longer? The insect glaive is so much more fun to use in rise ^^
Yay I was hoping to see another dual blades user, I know they don't do as much at one time as hammer, sword etc. But I get to zoom around and slash away and the great sword and bigger weapons were so slow. I just enjoy going whoooosh and slash :)

I do not know what Capcom did with the numbers but the fact utility skills and buffs are forgotten is quite saddening. It used to bring me such joy to shave off 10 minutes because I prioritised earplugs or tremor res other than damage.

I've been playing since Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U and I genuinely had no idea Long Sword was considered easy mode, I just played it because it was fun. Now I'm trying out the Switch Axe, the Hammer, and the Charge Blade and I'm really enjoying them! Thanks for the extra salt!

Personally as a Gunlance main I don't have much of a problem with long sword mains. This is most likely because while long sword main always go for the head, I go for the tail or stand directly under the monster if there big enough. and the times I do attack head I can stay just far enough away from it to still land all my attacks but not git hit by the long sword. Also shield help a lot. I usually git hit more with LBG mains.
As a long sword main and also being able to play all other weapons, I don't care since my sword combos can do twice damages than your charged up hammer when targets is on the ground. You guys are just being salty about long sword.
@@rj60000 maybe after capcom decides to not first nerf the weapon and then give it a buff, like groundsplitter doesn't even reach on wide 4 the same damage as in world.
Ehhh. Blast dash is fun but shelling damage is pretty bad compared to World and doesn't scale with anything outside of Artillery, bombardier food buff, and ground splitter. And ground splitter is a temporary buff that costs wirebugs and will disappear if you sheathe your weapon at any point, even if you just get hit and do the wirebug recovery. It has some of the slowest speedrun times right now. Capcom has some serious issues with just letting Gunlance be good.
Look up how to play the IG then, the Ariel Dance combo for one turns you into a flying Greatsword for one, and your base combo should be doing at least 40 per basic hit with 100ish for the last strike.
Honestly i played insect glaive in 4U, played it how youd expect, then i played it again in generations and actually paid attention to my flying friend and actually started enjoying myself by playing the game known as WHY THE FUCK AM I GETTING GREEN EXTRACT!?
As an insect glaive main, I completely get what you mean about people just ignoring the bug and focusing on flipping around. I always make bug a priority before doing major attack since it boosts. I also like to switch play styles for certain monsters like hammer on monsters such as Barioth or using it when I need certain parts

I do love seeing charge blade high. I started in world and instantly fell in love with the charge blade as an idea, effectively 2 different weapons with the power to BRING DOWN THE HAMMER! when you get it just right. I'm not great with it i don't have the reaction times to get the most of out the shield, but i know how to charge and drop hard. Few things produce happy chemical like getting charge, dumping it into the blade, building charge and then Dropping it all in one go on a targets head and body.
@@frogstar8362 I wish the numbers were toned down for IAI counter and quicksheath 3 is nerfed in its current state. Iai counter being so damaging and so safe currently takes away variety from the weapon (aka foresight slash being basically many times inferior in its current iteration), which makes it less fun to play. Same goes with a lot of weapons tbf, lance suffers a lot because nothing aside from charge swipe and the double lunge wirebug skills do any damage, and these 2 skills do so much damage that it turns lance from a fun interactive counter playstyle to a shitty spam 2 moves weapons (and both moves feel like ass to use).
@@joeqiao1691 I agree with you as a longsword main, and this is mainly why I do not put quicksheathe 3 on my builds. What’s the point of playing longsword and having fun if I’m just spamming one move and nothing else? But for the nerfs, I think they should be carefully with not overdoing it, because Iai Countering is not as easy as foresighting. You need to really know your monster timings for it to truly work, so good players need to be rewarded for knowing their timings.

@@jet-blackjo2455 It’s not really about longsword mastery, but rather monster knowledge. Most of longsword skill (after they added foresight to it) is really just knowing the monster’s moveset very well. This is also why fighting a new monster as a longsword player is more difficult than with other weapons. This is because with other dodge weapons like db and sns, you see an incoming move and just dodge to avoid danger. But with longsword and other counter weapons, you not only need to know if a monster move is incoming, but you also need to know when exactly it will hit.
As a longsword main, I too am annoyed when there's another longsword user who only goes for the face, when I roll all the way for the tail since I know some of my teammates will need those sweet materials
first this and second everything about LS sreams "cut the tail". White swings, cutting damage etc. Going with the LS for the head in a MP hunt is like going for tail with a hammer.
I mean, ditto. I always make sure to go for the tail first. It keeps you from flinching teammates, and provides a valuable drop for people that are farming. Anyone that's complaining they can't do full DPS while helping their team in the longrun needs to realize one simple thing... **You're not a speedrunner.** If you were, you would be hunting the Hub quests solo or have your own group to roll with. At that point, you can coordinate strategies. And EVEN THEN, most of the super tier players I know LOVE helping new players. So yeah. Just cut the tail, guys. Fun aside, I actually started mastering every weapon this time around, because I wanted to avoid tripping in Low Rank before people could get decorations.

Insect glaive has been my main in rise due to the insane movement you get with evade extender. And I am someone who has mained the Hammer with Lance as a close second in 3, Gen, and World. But I've noticed the true damage comes from IG being grounded so I only do flips and shit to reposition like to get to the tail.

HH is terrible in this, ryozo really simplified dumbing down monster hunter which is kinda sad for the sake of more and more low iq audience. HH being on single freaking note only, no encore, etc is disrespectful towards weapon origin from MH2 DOS on playstation 2.

Hammer go bonk. I'm an LBG main, but when I want to head into melee range, hammer is the only choice.
Saying Longsword it an easy mode and doesn't take any skill is very rude to those speedrunners.
Crowley Reid speed runners know it's cheesy that's why they choose it. The skill required is to know the monsters rng, but other weapons would need to practice other things on top of that. It is what it is.

What makes me the most frustrated is that the game starts players with the long sword, and then the first high rank weapon you get is a fucking long sword. Capcom was determined to make it even more popular than it was in world and iceborne.
When I first started and it gave the longsword and told me to go hunt I was worried that it was gonna make the first hunt a forced longsword one

@Weeb Tendency I did that but with dual blades despite not at all being familiar with them from world. just do what I did and pick up other weapons to hunt rakna kadaki. it's a great fight to try out new weapons. once you've found one you like try using it on harder monsters :)
just remember that you don't know if you like a weapon until you've tried in on a hunt. the training area is just to grasp the controls and doesn't show you what a weapon truly has to offer.
As a Hammer main with the long sword as my secondary weapon, I can 100% confirm, that the Longsword is the most STUPIDLY overpowered weapon in the game.
I use either depending on if the monster is soft or hard
Hammer is the best. I took down my first big monster easily with it, and it is just fun to use.
Well… was is more apt, actually it got heavily nerfed in sunbreak to bring it more in line with other weapons. Motion values for Iai spirit slash was cut in half, Soaring kick also had its motion value reduced and its cooldown increased from 20 seconds to 30 seconds. On top of the increased challenge of Sunbreak monsters making it so playing it braindead will not save you
I know someone is going to say but it got a whole lot of other switch skills and to which i counter with. Yeah and so did every weapon in the game and each of their skills are good: Greatsword has Strong arm stance for instant TCS, Glaive got Awakened Kinsect attack for heavy damage, Hunting Horn got Sonic Bloom for support and damage

Lance actually can have some incredibly high DPS but to get it there take crazy skill. Look up some of the arena fights, guy hunts rajang in under 2 mins
@@shrimpbread7284 arena is not really a good indication for the strength of a weapon, mostly because the builds aren’t always balanced, if you look at regular speedruns you’ll see that while lance is still powerful and kills most monsters under 4 minutes it’s still outclassed by most other weapons

TBH, counter peak perfomance is very helpful for that. You can just cpp, swing the axe a few times, rinse and repeat.

Edit: Coming back to this after 66 hunts farming Magnamalo, I can say this kind of does HBG a disservice, as being able to charge near surgically precise shots, has managed to make hunts and part-breaking (which is especially helpful against Magnamalo) so much more of a breeze... granted, I kind of needed the Nargacuga set for the *Evade Extender* and increased iFrames so they didn't feel unbearably sluggish... but at 95 hunts with it now, I can say you can get to be an entirely capable HGB main.
Tbh this entire video is obviously based on the fact that he only plays like, 3 weapons out of all of these, as he talks about most of these weapons from a 3rd person perspective, as if he just watched videos or read their movesets lol

There is way more subtlety to the hammer than the long sword and that’s the point. When you are less subtle than the “unga bunga” weapon you have some serious issues.
@@OtioseFanatic I would actually disagree. Longsword has ease of play but a very high skill ceiling. Hammer does as well, but at the skill ceiling feels much lower. Longsword has a lot of different skills to react to specific different moments of time, which makes them more versatile but also more complicated; weapon sheathes, iajutsu, counters, etc. The Hammer has very little complexity by comparison. And I'm saying this as someone who mained Hammer way longer than Longsword.
There are a lot of reasons folks get annoyed with Longsword users, but "simplicity" doesn't feel like it should be one of them.

Longsword is simply an automatic win at this point, they made it so obscenely strong that it just takes the fun out of the game if you hunt with a longsword main in the group that and trips are nasty especially in older games (nowadays you just gotta slot in flinch free and limit your build a bit so you are able to play the fucking game)

@@samstone1445 Lol. No, it doesnt. Gimmicks do not equal higher skill celing. In fact it often means a much lower one.
Hammer users have to deal with a slowwer than average movement speed, a slow weapon that has a ridiculously low reach while dealing blunt damage meaning that they NEED to hang around the face of the monster (99% of the time the most dangerous part) to reamain effective all while having no guard or counter move, no built in flinch free, having the slowest dodge in the game with poor I-frames while also having to manage charge levels like a greatsword user because each level of charge completely changes your moveset WHILE KEEPING IN MIND that your charge moves drain stamina AS DOES YOUR DODGING meaning that if you do one you drain your potential to do the other and deal with all of that while not gettng carted over and over. Proper hammer use is less a skill celing and more of a skill Mt Everest. No celing in sight, only higher and higher climbs and people have died trying to get there.
Meanwhile LS users have a faster movement speed, faster dodge with better frames, counter moves that can negate monster attacks while attacking back, all of their gimmicks run off of their own meter so doing most of your flashy moves will still leave you with stamina to duck out when you cock things up, built in flinch free, a frankly silly range with AoE and delayed damage moves, and their weapon does slashing damage so they can chill near the (relatively) safer ass of the monster and still remain effective (and thanks to that range AND speed actually can cut tails easier than any other weapon type). You can literally roll your face on your controller and be effective with LS. I know this from experience because i have actually done it to proove a point. I cut the tail and i didnt even fucking cart. The LS doesnt have a skill celing. it hs a skill crawlspace with some fancy gimmick moves.
@KoboldCantations Hoo boy, I think we're way too far apart here to find even a slight middle ground. Again, I've played a lot of Hammer, and while I love the weapon, I honestly think it's one of the easiest weapons out there. It was my first main weapon back in Tri, so I'm speaking as someone with hundreds of hours of just Hammer across the various games. Stamina management is not difficult in Rise. Being near the head is not significantly more difficult than being behind; heck, it's arguably harder on some monsters. The things you mention for Longsword (aside from built in Flinch Free and counters) apply to pretty much every bladed weapon.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Hammer isn't fun, or good, or requires skill to play well. I'm also not saying that LS isn't a very strong weapon in Rise. But claiming that LS is just the easy mode zero skill weapon, especially in relation to relatively simple Hammer, is just ridiculous to me.
As a Charge Blade Main, I can say that the "S Tier" is a good place for those players that aren't going to read the entire 89 page instruction manual and practice with it an hour a day to make sure they understand it.
As a guy who tried several times to main Charge Blade I feel this.
And don´t make a armor with the very needed skills in it, that boost CB from A to S tier.

It's my first M.H. game but I always prefer the slow and methodic? All I do is knock the heavy think on it's butt every now and again. Most the monsters do not even allow me to frontal charge like I wanna. Why can't I just rock it?

@@medivex3793 i all but joined the HH gang. Felt a bit on the slow slide in world so I couldn't really get into it. But Rise made it feel easier to learn (still a hard to master weapon; dedication to the art after all) as opposed to World having to worry about changes in combos as songs changed while learning the various monster patterns and tells (world was my 1st MH but I have started into GU on the side)
Insect glaive was my first weapon and got me into the series, so I really don't care if it's suboptimal or whatever. I just have fun using it (although tbh it was better in world, and I find myself using more Switch Axe in most cases).
When you master theGlaive it’s a juggernaut power house weapon
And helicoptering can be effective if you grab the Airborne skill.
Whenever someone tells me insect glaive is bad, I pole vault into the air and hit them on the head.

People hate it because people tend to not use the bug and just chain heavy vault attacks but literally just grab the three extracts (really only need the red and white if you're good at midair dodging) and make sure you don't waste all your time in the air because that's great for getting silkbind damage but you can hit while on the floor for a reason and you're good
It's not a super complicated weapon it just looks cooler to use it wrong and that means a lot of people pick it up just to spam vault and the people who never picked up see that and both come to disrespect the weapon because one sees it as useless because they used it wrong and had a hard time and the other sees it as useless because they watch other people use it wrong
Insect glaive needs at least an A tier
IG is master class. The problem is that most damage is done on the ground, which is stupid for a weapon that has such satisfying and visual pleasing aerial gameplay and animation. If they made it so the longer you were in the air the more damage it did, I'd be a die hard IG.
Diving Wyvern does that exact thing, so
I mean the ground damage helps discourage people from just pretending to be a helicopter 24/7 because as an IG main from personal experience if you just spam the jump monsters can and WILL smack you out of the air
Ig can triple an output damage on the spear drop skill which is like a weaker rage slash. It slow to build up but still can attack. This time you have to know when to attack and the direction or you lose the multiplier.
Get a red extract and slay, it’s just as satisfying

Honestly, Insect Glaive is best when you stay on the ground. Good combos with red extract that hit fast enough to make elemental damage viable
Hey since this is a recent comment I have a need to add that as of now that sunbreak is out aerial insect glaive has been better than ever, with a lot of procs for elemental, while ground combos still do more damage, it's not as big of a difference as it used to be

Yeah I main LS but I only use it in solo, when I go multiplayer il use hammer or GS.
It always happens. In world, I fought safi and I was using hammer. The monster fell down via mount and literally all the longsword users ran to the head. I wanted to bonk the monster to cause a stun but the fucking annoying trips prevented me from doing so.
If I knew at the time that Scott was gonna beak into my room through my window and stab me in throat while I slept, I would never have picked up long sword.
Longsword isn't too bad, even if I mistime my Guard Edge, your hitboxes are so massive that It'll still give me sharpeness

Honestly I'm quite happy with Lance not getting any real changes. A bit more damage or a built in threat increase would be nice but other than that the comfy, consistent DPS and survivability, being able to dismantle every monster with my poke, poke, poke, breaking everything as I go is nice.

@@flamingrubys11 Lance can deal a lot of Damage, but it’s not in big bursts like some of the other Weapons, it mainly deals its damage over the course of a Fight, low numbers but the point is that they have a consistent damage output, any time spent not attacking a Monster is time wasted on a Lance

As a HH main, I can confirm that it's less about buffing the team and more about breakdancing while playing a song called "You better give me the drop I want or else"
The buffs are more a "here now you are not trash anymore." than a "please let me help you big hunter oni chans."

For the record, I kind of forgot about the flips because I was having so much fun with the the bug in rise. Actually needing to micromanage it (no more auto attacking) and being able to get it out more often and keep it out longer? The insect glaive is so much more fun to use in rise ^^
As a duel blades user, it brings me joy to see duel blades in B because that's where we are. We're not amazing, but we still do ok
Yay I was hoping to see another dual blades user, I know they don't do as much at one time as hammer, sword etc. But I get to zoom around and slash away and the great sword and bigger weapons were so slow. I just enjoy going whoooosh and slash :)

3:21 fun fact, someone on reddit did calulations on what weapons speed up or slow down hunt times. Hunting Horn does factually speed up Hunting times.

@@fattytan1377 that’s what I’m sad about in MHW and Rise, back in FU and prior games the HH was always for its skill buffs that could negate wind pressure and roars instead of damage. I do not know what Capcom did with the numbers but the fact utility skills and buffs are forgotten is quite saddening. It used to bring me such joy to shave off 10 minutes because I prioritised earplugs or tremor res other than damage.

I've been playing since Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U and I genuinely had no idea Long Sword was considered easy mode, I just played it because it was fun. Now I'm trying out the Switch Axe, the Hammer, and the Charge Blade and I'm really enjoying them! Thanks for the extra salt!

Personally as a Gunlance main I don't have much of a problem with long sword mains. This is most likely because while long sword main always go for the head, I go for the tail or stand directly under the monster if there big enough. and the times I do attack head I can stay just far enough away from it to still land all my attacks but not git hit by the long sword. Also shield help a lot. I usually git hit more with LBG mains.
As a long sword main and also being able to play all other weapons, I don't care since my sword combos can do twice damages than your charged up hammer when targets is on the ground. You guys are just being salty about long sword.

@@rj60000 maybe after capcom decides to not first nerf the weapon and then give it a buff, like groundsplitter doesn't even reach on wide 4 the same damage as in world.
Ehhh. Blast dash is fun but shelling damage is pretty bad compared to World and doesn't scale with anything outside of Artillery, bombardier food buff, and ground splitter. And ground splitter is a temporary buff that costs wirebugs and will disappear if you sheathe your weapon at any point, even if you just get hit and do the wirebug recovery. It has some of the slowest speedrun times right now. Capcom has some serious issues with just letting Gunlance be good.

As an Insect Main, I hate how accurate getting 20 damage off of 3 spins is.
But with insect buffs, it goes up by a whooping 30 for 3 spins. Woooooh.
I've come so used to using ground glaive from world that its difficult to take advantage of these minor aerial buffs xD
Look up how to play the IG then, the Ariel Dance combo for one turns you into a flying Greatsword for one, and your base combo should be doing at least 40 per basic hit with 100ish for the last strike.
Honestly i played insect glaive in 4U, played it how youd expect, then i played it again in generations and actually paid attention to my flying friend and actually started enjoying myself by playing the game known as WHY THE FUCK AM I GETTING GREEN EXTRACT!?
In rise I'm leaving the sky behind and am just making a crit draw glaive
3 aerials and a diving wyvern has alright damage. Just dont spam aerials when the monster is down, and youll probabely be fine.

As an insect glaive main, I completely get what you mean about people just ignoring the bug and focusing on flipping around. I always make bug a priority before doing major attack since it boosts. I also like to switch play styles for certain monsters like hammer on monsters such as Barioth or using it when I need certain parts

I do love seeing charge blade high. I started in world and instantly fell in love with the charge blade as an idea, effectively 2 different weapons with the power to BRING DOWN THE HAMMER! when you get it just right. I'm not great with it i don't have the reaction times to get the most of out the shield, but i know how to charge and drop hard. Few things produce happy chemical like getting charge, dumping it into the blade, building charge and then Dropping it all in one go on a targets head and body.

@@frogstar8362 I wish the numbers were toned down for IAI counter and quicksheath 3 is nerfed in its current state. Iai counter being so damaging and so safe currently takes away variety from the weapon (aka foresight slash being basically many times inferior in its current iteration), which makes it less fun to play. Same goes with a lot of weapons tbf, lance suffers a lot because nothing aside from charge swipe and the double lunge wirebug skills do any damage, and these 2 skills do so much damage that it turns lance from a fun interactive counter playstyle to a shitty spam 2 moves weapons (and both moves feel like ass to use).

I agree with you as a longsword main, and this is mainly why I do not put quicksheathe 3 on my builds. What’s the point of playing longsword and having fun if I’m just spamming one move and nothing else?
But for the nerfs, I think they should be carefully with not overdoing it, because Iai Countering is not as easy as foresighting. You need to really know your monster timings for it to truly work, so good players need to be rewarded for knowing their timings.

It’s not really about longsword mastery, but rather monster knowledge. Most of longsword skill (after they added foresight to it) is really just knowing the monster’s moveset very well.
This is also why fighting a new monster as a longsword player is more difficult than with other weapons. This is because with other dodge weapons like db and sns, you see an incoming move and just dodge to avoid danger. But with longsword and other counter weapons, you not only need to know if a monster move is incoming, but you also need to know when exactly it will hit.
Gunlance is seriously got the secret sauce this time.

As a longsword main, I too am annoyed when there's another longsword user who only goes for the face, when I roll all the way for the tail since I know some of my teammates will need those sweet materials
first this and second everything about LS sreams "cut the tail". White swings, cutting damage etc. Going with the LS for the head in a MP hunt is like going for tail with a hammer.

I always make sure to go for the tail first. It keeps you from flinching teammates, and provides a valuable drop for people that are farming. Anyone that's complaining they can't do full DPS while helping their team in the longrun needs to realize one simple thing...

If you were, you would be hunting the Hub quests solo or have your own group to roll with. At that point, you can coordinate strategies. And EVEN THEN, most of the super tier players I know LOVE helping new players.
