I didn't get why Zolupine now has a blue tail, (Maybe a mistake) I really liked how the greenish tail brought color in to the design. You can see clearly that Old zolupine had a green tail at 10:39.
@@jacoponicoli8227I think the blue tail makes more sense! I'm actually a bit surprised you're not talking about the final evo of the corn line (I'm new here) I saw a lot of people complaining about that one
@@zelos_stinebrody5541he probably won’t answer, I’m struggling with that dilemma myself. Granted ai can make it easier to produce products in bulk without spending 6 hours on one design But where’s the balance? I also think it depends on the ai itself, some ai do plagiarize from other artists who struggle to make a living of their freelance work. But others stick to a more vast verity where it’s not really clear where the style that was generated comes from.
it was hard to see Croakroazen changed as that was the first Pokemon I saw designed on this channel but it does look a lot better and makes it feel like its still alive on the inside
Redesigned Terreon looks great! Giving it a funny hairdo instead of the antenna-looking things makes it look way more like a dirty muddy dog and helps line it up with the other Eeveelutions a lot better. Removing the fangs helps too. Previously it seemed like it had too much going on and wasn’t really related to the others but now I love it!
i wish the pose was changed more though like in previous suggestions. it having its butt up in a playful pose would've let the ears drag on the ground and give it more personality
Absolutely. Rest of them were rly good, but Mayzmen was a downgrade from S+ to C- for me. Definitely booting it from my party when the next demo comes out
I had a similar gut reaction, but try covering up the original design with your hand to better see the strengths of the new one. Much more defined pose, volume, and the deeper brown to contrast against the green/yellow adds a whole new colour dynamic and takes it from a two-tone design to a three-tone one.
Tbh the way Mazemen (idk if that’s how you spell it) was better before; specifically the head area. It looked like an actual corn cob, but the redesign just looks like a bedazzled stick. The round faces with space in between don’t read as corn as much as it did before, because corn cornels aren’t shaped or spaced like that
Love so many of the tweaks and redesigns! I won’t lie - I’m soooo gutted Mayzmen’s faces aren’t squished together anymore! The face expressions and the leaf redesign looks sooo good - but it used to look so much like a corn cob and I miss that :( 😅
I just wanna say, I can't thank you enough for the Mazah Region Project. It has become by far my favorite youtube video series ever! For the last three years a new Mazah Region video was something I looked forward to, and was a highlight of my day! In addition, for the longest time I believed I couldn't draw, and that I was incapable of reaching the artistic heights of artists such as yourself. But, after years of watching your work and creating designs for the Mazah Region Fan-Design Contest, I've improved dramatically and now have a lot of hope for my future work! The Mazah region has also brought together a community of people who love Pokemon and enjoy designing their own mons and regions. I've made many new friends here who share this passion. So, thank you, for all the above, and I'm excited to see what you do next!
@landonstout3649 The eyes definitely make a difference. Before it looked a stiff hand-worm and I didn't even know it had an extra set of peepers because of the pose. Now its a very cute fakemon that looks more like the spider it's based off, but it also looks a little snake-like with the new body and top-eyes! He's a snake boy! I repeat, he's a snake boy!
That Ariamano glow-up was insane, I never knew it even had those big peepers! Subjectively has been one of the biggest inspirations for me in pursuing Fakemon creation here on TH-cam, and I've always been curious about branching out into other areas - Thank you for the dedication, and looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you next!
Love to see the attention for Ariamano. I love spider pokemon, and while I dug the weird creepy energy that his original design gave off, there's just so much more to love on the new design. It loses a bit of creepiness, but keeps the weirdness, and gains a little bit of cuteness on top of it. Really great improvements.
It’s so satisfying to see the final touches being put in place for the Mazah region after so long! I love all of these, except I will say the “minor changes” to Mayzmen made me like it a lot less than I did before and I think it looked much better originally. Other than that, no complaints and I’m really inspired by how much you’ve evolved throughout this project!
1:56 There I am Gary there I am!! Seriously though as someone who has been around since long before this series started, and as a long time Subjectively and Mazah Region fan, I really have to commend you for your growth over the years! It's been wild seeing just how much things have changed over the years, and I really think it encapsulates art as a medium! We're always growing! Artist, writer, musician, it doesn't matter who you are! We're always learning and we're always growing! There'll of course be hiccups along the way, but I like to imagine that we eventually come out the other side better than we were! And seeing your growth throughout the years has been so inspiring to me on that front! Please keep being awesome, and keep growing! That goes for everyone who reads this!!! And of course, I just CANNOT wait to see what other things you have planned! I'm very excited!
Ariamano was one of those fakémon that I wanted to love, but just couldn’t get behind. I could never put my finger on why it was off-putting to me- but after this rework? It has finally clicked! It was the eyes! Now that I can see the big eyes behind the smaller pair, I have fallen in love with the energy of this little creature. When the fan game is out, I know Ariamano will be on my team! Amazing work! I love seeing your creative process and continual improvement, it is a motivation to us all. Bravo! Onto bigger and better things in your artistic journey.
9:38 prefer the original tbh, the texture of the corn face seems much more detailed and I really like how the heads are all packed and squished together
I LOVE most of the changes. Especially Crocrozen's! I'm not sure but I think you forgot Zolupine's other bracelet at 11:00 on its left hand or maybe the pose doesn't really show it well. On another note, a personal preference of mine was Maizemen's old design compared to the new one as I feel the exposed cob looks a bit too jarring and the faces no longer look like corn kernels anymore but more like masks on a tiki totem.
I absolutely love all of these changes! And don't think I missed you using the proto garchomp line's colour scheme for Zarcoil! As for Boinklebee, I think it needs another pass as it still feels too much like a dog with cartoonish proportions. I think if you toned down its physical body and replaced its oversized neck folds with a collar made of the same ethereal clouds as the tag and dog spirits orbiting its neck it would look a lot more mythical. Like how Torracat has its fire collar. Maybe you could even make it more sprite-like with a similar body shape to pokemon like Celebi and Victini but with canine features, but that would be a major overhaul and I don't wanna pile on more work for you!
This was such an amazing video. It turned Pokémon that I didn’t really have an opinion on to Pokémon I now adore, mainly the Techuppi line and the silly hand spider. The production of this video was just as great as well.
Far be it from me to tell an artist what to do with their own work, but damn Jack, you really did Mayzmen dirty. Why are they a corndog now? (All the other changes were really good and I love this channel and really enjoyed the new video format, looking forward to more like this)
xibalbat was my favorite mazah pokémon ever since i saw it, and that new pose you gave it made me like it even more. it is just an objectively cool design
the talk abt how one changes as an artist is really relevant to me! a couple beloved characters of mine turned 10 years old this year so, for funsies, i drew their old designs with their new ones. not only did i get to see how my art has developed but my design making skills did too! (i was really cringing at the color choices i made on one in the past ^^;)
personally, i prefer the old Maizmen, the brown 'stalk' (idk what its meant to be) just looks a bit weird to me, that and i like how close together the faces are on the old one, think it makes it hit home that 'many personalities clashing/working together' thing, looks a bit naked now. I might prefer it in pixel art form idk - that being said I don't hate exactly hate it, however i'd be amiss if didn't say it kinda turns me off from potentially using it in game eventually. Regibrute looks SO much better now. I like the added tuffs of fur on Zolupine's back, makes it less smooth, giving a more animalistic vibe - looking like it is actually fur instead of a weird rubber like material. I also think making the sclera white instead of red helps to distinguish the pupils a lot. To me this makes it really have that 'dangerous yet looks like it could be your friend' vide you're going for, looks like it has a personality, emotion. OOOO i rlly like the changes to Gusteon here. I can it imagine it almost bouncing around everywhere on its tail, or at least doing so to get into the sky. Also sort of reminds me of a rabbit in the new pose. I think making the ears more oval/rounded was a nice change, help to give that 'soft' and cuddly sort of appeal instead of the random sharp angles they had before ( now that i'm looking at it the old ears do look a bit out of place). I like the detail of it looking down here as well, A: It helps picture a scene of it in sky high above people, looking down on them - B: makes it also look like it's look down in shyness, which i think is quite adorable. p.s. i like the yellow-shaped heart paw pads on its feet, very cute. Frizzard tbh rlly wasn't my favourite design at all. I felt it just looked too stiff and awkward. HOWEVER, the redesign I think rlly helps to remedy this, the wider stance helps it look more action-prone and its eyebrows being pointed I think help to make it feel more alive to me and have a personality. I also believe the change to push its cheeks out more help to also make less dopey , same with the slightly bigger/more pronounced shoulders and spikes on said shoulders. The longer tail also balances out its overall design quite well (literally, the one old kinda looks like it may tip over if pushed forwards just a little bit in comparison), doesn't look as one-sided. Finally, will just like to point out that I like the detail the arrow on its chest now being more of an indent on its body instead of just looking like a simple pattern/sticker. Helps add more depth and coincides more with the vent of the top of its head. I could go more into how I think this new design is just presented way better, whether it be the line work, slight proportion changes etc . BUT, I would like to continue the video more so I won't :). Will definitely consider using this on my team now. Won't go into as much depth into Zorcoil...Zorcoal? However you spell it, I think is also quite a successful redesign. The colours reminded me immediately of beta garchomp (if you've ever seen it) and I think the choice to desaturate the colours was a good idea, looks more threatening to me. OOOOHHHHHHHHH FROZEN CROCROISEN (again idk how to spell its name) IS SO GOOD. While I never hated the og,,, I mean c'mon, like the man said it looks like it could be pushed over by a light breeze. Only things I want to state here are A: I really like how we can actually see the 'handle' of its mushroom in its mouth now, looked rlly weird in the old design so I'm glad that changed. And B: the addition of actually giving it its hands and feet instead if small kirby-like nubs really help to give it more structure and resilience - looking like it can stand sturdily. Also gives me the sort of vibe of the stone chinese guardian lions, just wanted to point that out. Ariamano also looks really good. The tail in the old design (as in the 2nd design he made not the first one) always looked a bit... fat? Idk how else to describe it but yh. The new tail makes it look a lot more snake-like in terms of how i can picture it slithering around. I think the choice to show off more of the false head was also a good idea, helps us image what it looks like from the top more. Also I just want to quickly say how I like the pose you've given it in this artwork, looks like it is in motion/ about to strike at something, really good! Overall, I really enjoyed most of the redesigns that you've done here, really looking forward to the design reworks! And listen, been following this project since the start and i'm just very passionate about it. That and now that i'm doing art at A-level it's good practice to analyse artwork like this. That is my excuse. p.s. ig the only thing i'd maybe change about boincolbee (AGAIN, idk how to spell it IM SORRYYYY) is the neck. Imo it looks a bit weird.. although... now that i'm looking at it does help give it a more interesting silhouette, besides without those neck folds it'd mostly just look like a standard dog - that and they help give it that friendly, fluffy, sort of cuddly vibe.. Y'know what, It has managed to grow on me while typing this out. Change it as you see fit good sir. o7
Loved every step of the journey with the Mazah Region and it’s sad to see it come to an end, but im glad you’ll be putting it to rest and moving on to new challenges and we’ll be by your side in these new challenges, just as we were with Mazah. Excited to see what’s to come for Subjectively 🎉
So while I still prefer a few of the older version I still like the new ones. I think in the end you as the artist have to be happy with the designs. Accepting critique where you think it is necessary without loosing what you like about a design or concept is an important lesson to learn. Over 2 1/2 years ago this channel inspired me to start my own Fakemon region and I am really thankful for that :) Eventho Im sad that the Mazah regionproject will end soon I'm super happy and greatful that I joined relatively early and witnessed the whole journey. Can't wait for your new projects in the Apoctober and Mermay Universe! Happy creating ^.^
This is pretty off topic but I think that subjectively deserves WAY more subscribers lol. Nowadays, most channels on TH-cam have at least one million and subjectively doesn’t even have 500k. I’m not making fun of you in any way I just genuinely think that your channel deserves way more considering all of the amazing work you do. I could probably make a list of my top 50 favorite subjectively characters right off the top of my head. Almost all of your characters are so unique and interesting. For example “the crown of thorns” is probably my favorite character out of all. Her concept is quite simple but her story and lore is just amazing. The design is also amazing as well and the portrait form you drew her in works very well. Even though her painting does not show her entire body, you captured her personality perfectly in that painting. She almost gives off a sort of evil-Harley Quinn/joker kind of vibe because of the perfect little laughing sound effects you excluded in the background while it was transitioning in the the next prompt lol I am probably way too invested in this 😂. Another of your characters that is one of my favorites is lady malocostria, I think that’s how I spell it? Idk. But anyway seeing her develop in 3 different versions, the first being pretty abstract, the second taking more of a humanoid kid of design, and then the third taking inspiration off the sally lightfoot crab which I think is the perfect choice for this character. Her essence that you painted her in is so intimidating and mysterious, like she knows something that you don’t, and she’s not gonna tell you until you give her what she wants. In the third design of her that was never in a video, I really like how you put her in like this frame sort of border and also the way you made her clothes. I still can’t tell if the pattern on her neck is really ON her neck, of if it is a collar which is good in my opinion, her motif should be confusing. Now for the Mazah region, it has so many amazing designs and might even be the most famous fake on region currently, another reason why you deserve more subscribers. I have probably watched almost all of your videos at least twice and some, I come back to every couple of weeks and just watch it again (I do that with the mermay and apoctober series lol). This channel really is amazing and has so many deep thought out designs and memories that truly are perfect. (btw I’m subscribed on 3 different accounts lol)
I didn’t think the Zea-Zaya and Zhusk changes were needed, but boy am I glad you did! They are subtle, but do a really good job at conveying the designs and personality. The Mayzmen change I’m not a big fan of though, and I actually prefer the original by quite a bit. That being said, I was pretty unlikely to actually use them on my team, so the opinions of others are going to be more relevant. I also prefer the previous Beakpeep design. Something about it is just perfectly derpy and adorable to me. The new design isn’t awful by any stretch, but I liked the older one just a little bit more. Aside from those two though, (and maybe Lilorina, I’m still waiting to see the rest of the line before having an opinion on that one) I thought that all of the changes were incredible! Some ones I particularly liked were: Xibalbat, Regibrute, Terreon, Gusteon, Croacrozen (frozen form), and Ariamano. I actually really liked old Terreon, so I was a little apprehensive about seeing it changed (possibly due to my love for bug-type designs) but the new design keeps me really happy, while fixing its issues. Given a little more time, I think the design is only going to grow on me more; I will definitely be using this mon on my team.
As someone who's been on the Mazah journey since the beginning, it's been phenominal seeing the growth of this channel and the art made here. This has been a wonderful project, and I'm very excited to see where you go next. I'm already in love with the new camera angles, and the montage of multiple sketches going at once was 100% chef's kiss. Keep up the awe inspiring work Jack, we're loving every minute of your work!
It's amazing seeing how far you've come and how much you have learned by comparing the older drawings with your update versions!! Your channel and the Mazah Region really helped me reignite that spark of pokemon and drawing love that had been waning through the years, so it makes me a bit sad to see the project is coming to a close, yet it'd be my pleasure to continue following you in your journey and seeing what you can come up with next!!
You can really see the technical improvement compared to the old designs. The new ones all look so lively and as if they’d fit right in with a mainline game. You rarely miss but these are pokemon that I genuinely would be super excited to find and add to my team. They all have such a charm to them that really makes them feel like partners that would travel the world with you. You have absolutely knocked it out of the park with this entire project and I just wanted to thank you for providing it to this community. I too will be waiting patiently for the devs to finish this wonderful game
The work you've put into the Mazah region is absolutely inspiring. I have adored following along and can't wait to see what comes next. Thank you for the amazing content and rockin' art! Take care, mate :)
I gotta say I AM IMPRESSED!!! The volutions is WOOOOOOOWWW!!! The body structure is so much more complex, the fakemon feels alive almost like it could come out of the screen and be touched. I can see a sense of bone structure, it's not like it's fall apart over its own weight anymore! The difference in texture! lights and shadow variation and in the right places, the faces have personaity and charisma. This is all I ever tried to say when criticizing your designs. I don't think I could ever take credit for this evolution. I'm just... so happy and proud and thankful!!! ♥♥♥ AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! I still think the eyes are little too big, the shapes, colors and proportions are PERFECTION, just think those eyes could a bit smaller to fit better in their skull
This is easily one of the best videos you guys have ever made, and while I'm not as big a fan of some of the redesigns as I am the originals, your aryamano and crocroazen redesigns are absolutely godly. Really great work
It is hard to see Mazah go but I think we should all think of the pride and enjoyment out of the fact that such a great region got to rise. I hope you do something similar to this whether it be another region or designing any type of Pokemon, hopefully Megas for the starters, and I've not watched this video yet but I'm going to and I'm sure I'll love them all
Good luck and I hope that whatever you move your muse to I cant wait to see! You and Claire have been a wonderful part of my own art journey and I'm happy that you're growing and following your own wants and needs! ❤❤❤❤
Cant believe I've followed this region since video three, the first video dedicated to Porsite. This region and series has been great and inspired me to make my own region, which I'm almost 100 Fakémen into now. Thanks Jack and Subjectively for being a great part of my life, whether its the excitement of a new episode or just listening to the playlist in the background, it's been great. Good luck moving forward
The first video from Subjectively I’ve watched was the Subjectively Speaking video focused on Pokémon, where Jack made his version of a Primal Palkia (something I wish the Origin-form in Legends: Arceus was…) After watching and loving that video, along with the Pokémon armors and the League champion redesigns, I subscribed to the channel and thought that Jack seemed very capable of creating a Fakémon region, and to see how far he and the viewers have come with this project. It’s always amazing how Pokémon has influenced artwork and world building with its character designs, and even when people have problems with how the franchise has evolved over the years (pun somewhat intended), the innovations they make to re-imagine what it means to be a Pokémon allow the franchise to be less restrictive. That aspect, in my opinion, will allow Pokémon to remain pretty timeless to me and millions of other people.
this has been such an amazing journey and it feels like it's about to end which sucks but I'm glad I even found your work to begin with. I absolutely love it!
One of my favourite quotes from an old art teacher is "if you are in a career and feel that you have nothing to learn, its time to retire, since you're usefulness is now gone", though harsh it definitely resonates with the idea of always learning which I think is something important to always consider. I also have mixed opinions on critique. I do agree that it is important to be able to take criticism and adapt. But I also think its important to also stick to your guns creatively. You need to strike a balance between them. Be able to improve using opinions from others but also know when those opinions will do nothing but goober your work. Anyways, I adore the redesigns and love the mazah dex. I also look forward to your work going forward and am excited to see where you go creatively. Thanks for the video~!
The poses look so much more dynamic and akin to the Sugemori style. Great job and you can see the evolution (pun intended) from the first design drafts
this project has been a blast to watch unfold. i may not have contributed to it, but it inspired me to pursue an older pokemon fangame project that has been left on the back burner for 5 years. i look forward to your future projects.
I remember accidentally stumbling on your very first starter video, before the Mazah region was really a thing. I'm not an artist, but I've enjoyed watching your process and skills evolve (pun intended) over the years. It's not often you find Fakemon artists who dedicate so much time, thought, and passion into their designs. Even when this project is over I'll be sticking around to watch your other videos. Thanks for your great work, and I can't wait to see your mons in the fan game!
Started working on a fan game with some friends of mine and watching these videos has really helped me in my design process. I'm nowhere near this level of course, but I think the mons I have designed through what I learned here look like they could conceivably exist in a real Pokemon game, even if they're not on the level of actual Pokemon concept art. And having that project to work on has really changed how I watch these videos, especially those before and after shots where I can really take the time to analyze what changes have been made and why. So thanks for making this series! It's been a great help to me and I'm sure other artists as well.
Wow… just WOW!! I’m in love with not only the new design changes, but also ( and to me, more importantly ) the huge improvements you’ve made when it comes to the key visual art. For me, not only an artist but also a fakemon artist, learning how to draw fakemon is one of the more challenging parts of creating a new fakemon. And watching your videos throughout the last 3 years ( I started my fakemon-journey 2 years ago when I was 14 ) was one among many ways for me to not only keep going and stay motivated, but also served as a way for me to take inspiration on how to try and resemble the official Pokémon style as much as I could. I’ve still got plenty to learn. But your videos have really helped a ton. I cannot wait to see what the last 7 redesigns are gonna look like. But also to continue and follow your journey as an artist moving forward after this project. Cheers from Sweden! :D
I've so enjoyed following along with your work so far! The Mazah region was how I found this channel years ago, but I've had so much fun watching your smaugust, mermay, and apoctober projects as well, and I'm very excited to see what will be next for Subjectively. Thanks for sharing your art and your thoughts on art practice! It's always delightful and inspiring.
tbh i didn't really think about the hand spider very much besides that it felt kinda weird to look at, but now i like it a lot more. the change in colours and additional texturing on the arm really sells the look a lot more methinks
I rarely comment but really have to mention how much I love your designs. I am not too big into most Fakemon, probably because new designs often lose against the nostalgia-boosted Pokémon that I've known for years. But... yours are different. I think they show off how well you understand designing great poses and giving a fictional being character with just a single picture. The fact that you managed to make some of them even better in this video blows me away. Amazing work!
It’s incredible how much more 3D the redesigns have become. I always saw your fakemon art as the standard in terms of replicating the official pokemon style and somehow you’ve managed to make these designs even more convincing. I think the three dimensionality and especially your improvements in rendering light and shadow have elevated these designs to a whole new level. Great work, this series will be missed but i’m super excited to see what jack and the subjectively team will do next!!
I love watching your videos, because I myself am well an artist, but I suck. So I’ve learned a lot from everyone from the subjectively channel over the years. And I’ve learned a lot and I’m constantly trying to get better taking large strides, and then falling off a cliff all the way backwards😅😩. Heck, I’m constantly making tweaks to some of my older pieces or completely redoing them, or at least trying to and failing🥺. So seeing all of your improvements and your love and passion, for what you do is truly a joy to watch, and I truly enjoy all I’ve been learning. Thank You truly thank you🥹 Oh, one more thing. I absolutely adore Boinklebee 😍
I liked most of these changes!! My favorites were (sorry for any spelling mistakes im going by sound) techupi and lupricabra (their poses are way stronger now!!! And techupi looks so cute!), ZUSK! THE POSE A CUTIE!, chibaldbat looks so much more menacing!! Such a good change!, regibrute looks more grounded too! Less likely to tip over, the hand on zolupine!, terreon is a cutie even with their previous bug form lol , gusteons design is such an improvement!! Love the pose! You got that weightlessness, the poses on our ac pokes!! Definitely had to slow down the video so i could admire all the changes but it was worth it! Im kinda sad about mayzemen and llilorina. After reading the comments i understand the design benefits of the new mayzemen its so much clearer! I just loved their squished bodies. It was so cute! And idk i loved how round(??) lilorina was?? She was very cute. It was very 😭 and i loved her for it. Like a cute squishable doll. I think her left bang in her final design is throwing me off...too much negative space like you said for a previous design. HOWEVER, i love that line so much (she would be in my party for sure) and cant wait to see your redesign of them again!! Major overhauls lets go!! Also idc what anyone says boinklebee is the cutest doggo and perfect just the way they are!!
your art style, especially the designs in the Mazah region project, has improved a lot over the years! you're a huge inspiration to me and my own work, and it's satisfying to see this project get wrapped up in a nice, neat ribbon. I'll see if i can play the fangame when it comes out!
I actually really loved seeing real Jack on screen in this video! Your drawn avatar is great, but your natural charisma comes through even better on video!
Gusteons new design is SUCH an improvement and i thoroughly love this one now! And the pose, so good. What i love about it is how the type of animal it is is super ambiguous. Like some eeveelutions, its almost unsure what animal it is. A cat? A dog? Gusteon almost feels like a rabbit and i love that!
A lot of these new changes (specifically Ariamano and Croacrozen) improve the designs drastically from the originals. The only one I'm not a fan of is the new Mayzmen. It feels less like corn and more like a bunch of masks on a log due to the spacing between each member of the colony, and the design lost a lot of its original charm as a result. The original Mayzmen is one of my all time favorite Fakémon creations. The rest of them all look incredible, and you've done such an amazing job with the Mazah region! I cant wait to see where you go next with Fakémon creation!
Thank you so much for this journey. The Mazah reigon inspired me to start designing my own Pokémon for a region based where I love (the southeastern US). And while I’ve kinda left that project in the dust I might bring it back. Idk, but still, thank you for this series.
woah, the editing on this video is really good!! and to be honest it feels so natural to see you on camera that i didn’t even register that it was new. really good changes
Hey Jack, ive been here since the start of Mazah and have LOVED, LOVED all of your mazah art from the start. Even the ones I subjectively disliked I still objectively knew they were very well made and objectively good art. I have never felt like your art has missed the mark on fakemon, and as much as I dislike many of the comments thrown your way, that doesnt change the fact that your art is stellar and the best I have ever seen. If you need a break from pokemon because of the flak I fully understand and all of your other fans will too. I am forever a ride-or-die fan of yours, and I hope you appreciate this random comment from a guy on the internet who enjoys funny fake animals
This video is super bitter sweet, I've been watching the channel before the mazah Region and it's been really informative and entertaining to see it grow and change over time. All the design work is great imo!
that gusteon design in specific is really amazing. the pose change really took it from something i wanted to like but didnt to something i actively love
Watching the pokemon change and evolve alongside your art style and progression is a great help in knowing that mine and my partners carribean pokemon region can succeed
Personally, I prefer the original design of maizemen (idk how you spell it). All the brown empty space between the faces makes it look very strange, and in my opinion the original is much better.
Same :( how was that a "no change", that's a total change of design, shapes and vibe! I hope he'll read the comments, it seems a popular opinion that it looked better before...
I know you're often worried about what people think about these redesign videos but they actually mean alot to me ❤ your redesign videos taught me the value of rendering, and that its ok to go back and change old designs
so professional! you are a master of your craft. There is always a room to grow, and I am proud of you. Now I am genuinely a fan, seeing the care and the subtle nuances behind your work!
Hello, I know this is a little late but I wanted to tell you that i found this Pokémon project to be incredible, because I loved the creativity and connections you used when you were making them, the mermaids , the new regi members, all of it. This project brought a great deal of joy in to my life.
I'm gonna miss the mazah region it inspired me to make my own region of fakemon so thanks for that and while I'm so happy how far its come, I'm sad it gonna end :)
As always-- I loved watching your redesigns and re-rendering of the Pokemon of the Mazah region. It's incredible to see the improvements you have made in designs I didn't think could be improved. Your re-rendered and re-posed mon feel even more alive and ready to become the friend and ally of the next trainer to come their way. My only other observation is that I think I prefer the original Beakpeep design. The shorter stature makes the helmet feel too big like something it will grow into. The original proportions are cuter. More Torchic than Combusken. All the other designs I absolutely adore. I can't wait to see what next project you work on next.
If you do go through with a Boinklebee design tweak, I feel like smaller eyes might allow it to feel more like a Pokemon. I know it's meant to be a tribute to Panko first and foremost, but right now it just kinda looks like... a dog with familiars. Something I found to help when I was designing a Fakemon was to picture how well it would fit in the anime. How would it interact with humans? Does the design feel out of place next to other Pokemon? How would it be animated during a fight? I don't know how well this would help with Boinklebee specifically, but I hope it comes in handy with the others!
I really liked this video. I know it’s different, but I LIKE this different. The face cam, the shots of him drawing on the tablet, the sincerity of it all… it’s wonderful.
It’s so insane seeing how much you’ve grown in your art in such a short time, seeing the adjustments to the fakemon I remember watching you upload in real time and feeling like dramatically updated.
I can't believe it's been 3 years since the Mazah region first came to light! It's been a great run, and as sad as I am to see it end, I'm so happy that people are working to bring it to life -- and excited to see what's next for Subjectively! I'm hoping this won't be the last of the pokemon-themed content, it's what brought me here and is still one of my favorite topics covered on the channel, but I can absolutely understanding focusing on other things for a while. And I really did like all the redesigns in this video! All of them... minus Maizemen, primarily because the new design doesn't read as particularly corn-y to me. I'm sure there's a reason it is how it is, but I'm not certain of what it is. Outside of that, though, I really enjoyed a lot of these, especially Techuppi, with the teeth shaped through shading and a massively improved posing and lighting, and Liloriña is really coming into its own, super excited to see the redesigns for the evos! Thanks for the video!
I started doing my region as a response to getting excited about watching you do yours, seeing that year of growth had me really impressed and also really excited about revisiting older designs and seeing the growth myself
I didn't get why Zolupine now has a blue tail, (Maybe a mistake) I really liked how the greenish tail brought color in to the design. You can see clearly that Old zolupine had a green tail at 10:39.
Boinklebee couldnt be more perfect if it tried. In agreement w the gwneral conesensus that Maizmen's desgin was a step back, but everyone else (esp frizzard and the werewolves) looks AWESOME
Your redraws and redesigns are always incredible to me. Each time I think the original looks great and then the redesign really shows off your improvement!
Its always a strange kind of feeling to see a many year project come to an end, but i think its been left at a perfect point. All of the designs are great and feel at home among the other returning pokemon in the game. Youve created something amazing and i hope many people can enjoy the game created from these designs even when the videos stop coming.

@@jacoponicoli8227I think the blue tail makes more sense! I'm actually a bit surprised you're not talking about the final evo of the corn line (I'm new here) I saw a lot of people complaining about that one
Do you consider ai art plagiarism
@@zelos_stinebrody5541he probably won’t answer, I’m struggling with that dilemma myself.
Granted ai can make it easier to produce products in bulk without spending 6 hours on one design
But where’s the balance?
I also think it depends on the ai itself, some ai do plagiarize from other artists who struggle to make a living of their freelance work. But others stick to a more vast verity where it’s not really clear where the style that was generated comes from.
"A good artist has never done learning" and thats what i call being humble
"Is never done"
Lol the way this was worded made me confused
@@aquashuriken1634A good artist has never learned”
"Artwork is never finished, only abandonned."
Oh, true that. No one’s ever done learning.
it was hard to see Croakroazen changed as that was the first Pokemon I saw designed on this channel but it does look a lot better and makes it feel like its still alive on the inside
I adore it.
I never understood why Frozen Croakroazen's mushroom tips were 'hollowed' or seemed 'cut'.
Redesigned Terreon looks great! Giving it a funny hairdo instead of the antenna-looking things makes it look way more like a dirty muddy dog and helps line it up with the other Eeveelutions a lot better. Removing the fangs helps too. Previously it seemed like it had too much going on and wasn’t really related to the others but now I love it!
still has the fangs, now it is a cute little Fang poking out of the open mouth instead
@@garreonlefay6703A lot less intense and more charming, I like it
Love all the redesigns so much, and Terreon and Gusteon are super cute and pettable
It still has them! Just WAY more subtle.
i wish the pose was changed more though like in previous suggestions. it having its butt up in a playful pose would've let the ears drag on the ground and give it more personality
90% of these are excellent improvements, but today we mourn for og Mayzmen, gone but not forgotten
100% agree
Absolutely. Rest of them were rly good, but Mayzmen was a downgrade from S+ to C- for me. Definitely booting it from my party when the next demo comes out
It doesn't look like a minor tweak at all
I had a similar gut reaction, but try covering up the original design with your hand to better see the strengths of the new one. Much more defined pose, volume, and the deeper brown to contrast against the green/yellow adds a whole new colour dynamic and takes it from a two-tone design to a three-tone one.
ong 😔 the rest of the line was a great improvement tho 🔥
Tbh the way Mazemen (idk if that’s how you spell it) was better before; specifically the head area. It looked like an actual corn cob, but the redesign just looks like a bedazzled stick. The round faces with space in between don’t read as corn as much as it did before, because corn cornels aren’t shaped or spaced like that
Love so many of the tweaks and redesigns! I won’t lie - I’m soooo gutted Mayzmen’s faces aren’t squished together anymore! The face expressions and the leaf redesign looks sooo good - but it used to look so much like a corn cob and I miss that :( 😅
I know. I'm so disappointed about that one. That change killed a lot of it's appeal for me :/
Definitely agree with this
I just wanna say, I can't thank you enough for the Mazah Region Project.
I LOVE YOUR ART. You’ve inspired me so much I created my own region based on Brazil. Thank you
Have you posted about this region before? If so, where can I find it? Sounds very fun and interesting!
Sauce? I mean source?
He’s also my inspiration to keep working on mine, great artist!
Aww I’m making a region based on Brazil!!! (Posting on I TH-cam soon😢)
@@evagand Im gonna post it on insta soon hopefully. just need to finish and redesign some fakemon
I never gave much thought to Ariamano but with the new design it actually looks so cute. Probably one of my favorites now.
I loved Ariamanos concept from the beginning, even its first iteration, but you’re right it’s so cute with its bigger eyes! 😂
Im impressed how easily you conveyed 3D form in these new renders. They look so tangible now.
I love all the redesigns, although I do prefer the original Mazeman. The new one is... less joyous and bright?
Yeah the new one looks so…dead.
I'm really glad you showed the new drawings side-by-side with the old ones. The comparisons are so interesting. And good job, they look great!
Terreon went from looks like a weird Ground/Bug type to really pretty Ground, muddy boy. Didn't like it before, I am going to get him now
personally, i prefer the old Maizmen, the brown 'stalk' (idk what its meant to be) just looks a bit weird to me, that and i like how close together the faces are on the old one, think it makes it hit home that 'many personalities clashing/working together' thing, looks a bit naked now.
Change it as you see fit good sir.
o7
my guess as for the change happened is because of simplicity’s sake, less is more sometimes
Totally agree
@@neo_b that is fair, will probably be easier to make in pixel form for the devs too ig
YOU'VE DESTROYED MAIZEMEN!!!!! but actually I LOVE (almost)all the redesigns and especially appreciate terreon.
Yeah i dont really like Maizemen’s redesign ☹️
Yeah the faces look very weird and less like corn and more like masks ontop of a sausage
This has been one hell of a ride. Thanks for letting me be a part of it.
Its sad to see this project end but im glad i could see this amazing journey you'ved imbarked on start to finish
15:06 I definitely prefer the new design. Wonder if anyone fron the fangame team will add new Megas in later?
❤❤❤❤
Mayzmen changes don't hit the same way. I loved the yellow background behind the faces on the original.
Thanks for the video~!
just want to add that i love the editing when you add a bunch of sped up sketches on the screen. looks very nice
Croakrozen is the biggest glow-up for me personally so far. I struggled to read the old design, as cute as it was.
Honestly love the changes and can't wait for the upcoming redesigns!
My favorites were (sorry for any spelling mistakes im going by sound)
techupi and lupricabra (their poses are way stronger now!!! And techupi looks so cute!), ZUSK! THE POSE A CUTIE!, chibaldbat looks so much more menacing!! Such a good change!, regibrute looks more grounded too! Less likely to tip over,
the hand on zolupine!, terreon is a cutie even with their previous bug form lol , gusteons design is such an improvement!!
11:23 that actually makes sense to me, considering that it’s a water type and octopi and squids or aquatic.
Those minor tweaks are insanely effective! I love so many of those a lot more now, that is so impressive and so much progress!
I’m so happy with all the new re-designs, you don’t realize how much better something could be until you see the new drawing vs the old one. Good job!
I've been watching you videos since before the maza reign, time has flown by so fast it's crazy.
Personally, I prefer the original design of maizemen (idk how you spell it). All the brown empty space between the faces makes it look very strange, and in my opinion the original is much better.
It looks kinda like a hotdog with leaves and tiny masks everywhere
I agree prefer the original
I also liked the original a lot more!
Same :( how was that a "no change", that's a total change of design, shapes and vibe! I hope he'll read the comments, it seems a popular opinion that it looked better before...
I love the new footage of you working on the artwork on your drawing tablet! Hope to see more of that type of footage in future videos!
I’m so happy to have followed this project along the years, I’ve learned so much about design from you and the other people that gave their input.
I know you're often worried about what people think about these redesign videos but they actually mean alot to me ❤ your redesign videos taught me the value of rendering, and that its ok to go back and change old designs
every single series you've done has been a huge inspiration for me and seeing you grow alongside all of us is just amazing
so professional! you are a master of your craft. There is always a room to grow, and I am proud of you. Now I am genuinely a fan, seeing the care and the subtle nuances behind your work!
3 years it's been 3 years since I found this channel man what a journey I'm going to miss this region can't wait what the future holds next
This was such a fantastic video! All of the fakemon in the Mazah region that I didnt really enjoy before got a new fan out of me, with these designs!
The face cam, the shots of him drawing on the tablet, the sincerity of it all… it’s wonderful.
we worked really hard on this one -- so this is lovely to hear! ❤
@@SubjectivelyClaire well I’m glad it made you happy :D! You guys do amazing work, I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Even the minor adjustments give such different energy. I've always looked up to your art, and it's incredible seeing your art improve even more
I've been watching since the pre-Mazah days and this has been such a fun project to watch! Can't wait to see what you do next!
You can see clearly that Old zolupine had a green tail at 10:39.
the lighting on the updates now is so much better. great job man.
But uh mazemen
Its always a strange kind of feeling to see a many year project come to an end, but i think its been left at a perfect point. All of the designs are great and feel at home among the other returning pokemon in the game. Youve created something amazing and i hope many people can enjoy the game created from these designs even when the videos stop coming.
The editing and use of your camera really added to the experience. Love the quality of this video :)
