Really love swapping between new and old camera gear! Awesome editing and videoshooting, it really immerses you into the video. Also, great job Andy on the run!
Sorry, it was awful. I’ve no idea what effect they were going for, but late 70’s 8mm look wasn’t great, coupled with an audio mix that veered between unable to hear and blaring background music.
definitely like it! but please don't use audio from the old cameras - its more noticeable next to the well sounded audio from newer camera. but nice feel especially during the running/warm up bits.
Your commentary was great. I loved how you talked us through the anticipation, the doubt, the excitement, and the race. Really inspiring for me. Thanks Andy, and congrats!
Amazing effort and a great result Andy! Thank you for being an inspiration for us as older runners. Knowing that giving it a go, setting a realistic goal, doing the training and keeping in mind that we are blessed to still be able to run, is a situation that should not be wasted.
Probably one of your best videos, very cool and well done. I was putting my toddler to bed and the drum and bass got my heart rate up because that's what I run to. Would be cool to see how much you could improve your 1k after one more training block. 1 mile would be great too.
Well done!!! Have you considered entered veterans competitions similar to what Dwain Chambers has done? As a M35 runner I’m incredibly inspired by what you show is possible through consistent training.
Yes, you should definitely keep going Andy, I think there's a lot of runners in our position 40+ that are very inspired to see others in the same age group having success, and I really believe there with enough focus in this area, we can fine tune everything to be competitive ,with athletes in their 30's and late 20's ... things to consider: do add in plyometrics whilst preparing for events to make the muscles more explosive like the younger athletes. Eat a low inflammation diet, like a whole food plant based diet. , keep up your weightlifting, train more.. maybe mix in some elliptical with no handles when your body is sore or strained. and perhaps buy yourself a lactate meter and control your threshold sessions for like.. less than maybe 3.5 mmol lactate... even maybe add in double days like jacob. in that case controlling lactate for 3 or less may be better.
The Running Channel keeps uping there production - great editing - great commentary from RC host/ Olympian I went from learning how to get better at runn to enjoying all mini documentary and inspiring training blocks and Podcast Thank you TRC team 👏👏👏 Keep up the great content 😊
That was such an enjoyable video; Thank you for doing this. I could feel your nerves and excitement. I'm in for sitting at my desk and watching you run another time trial!
Well done Andy, great effort ! 👍 I think you are getting your old competitive spirit back, Probably be a bit quicker in the next one, you know you want to ! 😁
Awesome, love the way this was filmed and edited, 10 out of 10 😎 The story parallels from the olympic days to present day, and the joy of finishing actually brought a lump to my throat. I definitely think you should have another go at this Ate Mark
I would love to see you go hard in a vets comp. I used to do 1500m as a junior. Now 51, been running again for a few months, and feeling the itch to see how fast I can go in my current environment. Watching you go hard in your current situation would be the most inspirational thing possible!
Do whatever ever excites you next Andy, you had a stellar career and this channel is fantastically inspiring so no change in your continuing to achieve. Brilliant to see how fulfilling this race was for you and how much you still have in the tank!
Fantastic strategic and emotional insights. I learned a lot about racing-: applicable! And I learned a lot about the mind of a champion: aspirational! Thanks you for the video and the peak inside high performance!
You’re an Olympian. Don’t worry about imposter syndrome … if anyone has earned the right to be there (prime or not) it’s someone that’s competed at the highest level. Well done Andy 🤘🏻
What is amazing to me is that elite athletes current and former know their bodies and capabilities so well they can accurately predict their race finish time. In Andy's case within 1/2 sec. Impressive. Congrats.
I honestly knew you were gonna kill it! Well done m8! What about a new endurance competition between the cast. Like most distance rowed, elliptical, etc. Pick 3 gym machines and see what the max distance can be in 20 min.
Great stuff, Andy!! I recently read “Once a Runner” and can’t help but see some similarities between you and Quentin Cassidy. The nostalgic video style really enhanced that feeling :)
Great Video Andy. Well done. Great to hear your thoughts from the build up to through the challenge. I’m just a parkrunner and 10k man, at the age of 67, having been running on and off for over 35 years, and I still get really nervous before any run 👍
I predicted you would do 2:40. I'm impressed you did 2:39. I think you should focus a lot more on speed and get this time down to 2:32. Well done, Andy. I think you could start preparing to challenge Paul Forbes' Masters' records.
You’re so humble Andy and it somehow makes a former Olympian seem relatable. That’s due to your humility. Respect and well done.
Going out there so many years after retiring takes courage as well as humility. You are an inspiration, Andy. Well done on surpassing your goal.
YES do another one, but focus all of your training for 3 months targeting that race, just to see how much you can improve
Good idea!
This would be awesome. Andy still so fast.
1:06 "There's a lot more reasons I run well than reasons I run Baddeley" 😜
Great video as always!
Really love swapping between new and old camera gear! Awesome editing and videoshooting, it really immerses you into the video. Also, great job Andy on the run!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.

@@cejay67 I guess it's subjective, I really enjoyed the effect
@@cejay67looked like they filmed with a Sony VX-1000. A camera that uses Mini-DV tapes made in 1991, still used by skateboarders today.
definitely like it! but please don't use audio from the old cameras - its more noticeable next to the well sounded audio from newer camera. but nice feel especially during the running/warm up bits.

His competitiveness knows no bounds haha! Go, Andy!!!
Really deal is Andy!!
I was a fan when Andy raced professionally and it's great to see this kind of content. Still a class runner.
2:39!! Just phenomenal Andy! Loved this behind the scenes, insight into your thoughts and feelings before a race. I’m in awe 🤩🤩
"I was the fastest miler in the world." If that was me, I would be printing that on a shirt and wearing it daily.
Love the way this video was shot and edited!!
You are a fantastic bloke, Andy. Congratulations on the time!
An awesome result Andy and so humble. You've not lost the competative edge. Well done🙃🙂❤
You were that fast I stayed awake for the whole video 😂
Fantastic job-go again now you know what you are doing 😅
😅
Brilliant watching
Your humility is so inspiring Andy ! Truly a legend ❤
OMG that was beautiful 🥲
So inspiring Andy ❤
Amazing effort and a great result Andy! Thank you for being an inspiration for us as older runners. Knowing that giving it a go, setting a realistic goal, doing the training and keeping in mind that we are blessed to still be able to run, is a situation that should not be wasted.
Still miles ahead of 99% of runners even though you aren’t as fast as your elite days! A really emotional and profound video this ❤
Probably one of your best videos, very cool and well done. I was putting my toddler to bed and the drum and bass got my heart rate up because that's what I run to.

Unreal performance Andy I can see how much the sport means to you mate and that competitive edge is still with you !! Amazing time 🎉🎉🎉
One of the best 10+ minutes of watching a🏃♂️ YT video. Not about running shoes, tutorial or running tips. But a comeback story of an OG. Thank you! 🥹

I wonder how the rest of his kids feel when they hear Andy say he’s only a father of three 😂
So nice to see you try to rediscover what speed is with today’s tech. 🎉 You are inspiring.
Inspirational love the content. Would be great to see how you'd do with some focused training. Andy is a machine.
You are fantastic Andy! Congrats on beating your goal pace! You really seemed to enjoy the run, so if that’s true, you should do it again!
Its really a great feeling to get pumped up for a challenge and then meet it, congrats Andy 🎉
Inspirational, well put together. I enjoyed watching this type of behind-the-scene commentary.
Huge respect for this Andy!
Proud of you man. Keep challenging yourself til you drop, that's the runners' way

Great episode!
Just in case you don’t realize it you were much more than a UK hero, the entire World was cheering you on back in 2008 🇨🇦
was amazing watching you run, and such an awesome event overall
What an awesome video! Congrats Andy.
Thanks a ton!
Fantastic strategic and emotional insights. I learned a lot about racing-: applicable! And I learned a lot about the mind of a champion: aspirational! Thanks you for the video and the peak inside high performance!

Super run Andy. Giving us old lads hope 💪😜
I have been waiting for this , well done 🙂👏
Sarah really has me here thinking this man has like 5 or 6 kids
😂😂😂😂😂
He's actually trying to build a baseball team
No kidding hilarious
For someone without kids, there's no diff btw 3 and 6.
6 is a great number
That was awesome Andy. Well done. Looking forward to the next one.
That is one blazing fast hovercraft! Well done, Andy! How did you rate the infield of the course?
Great video Andy, explain it really well as well 👍
Bravo Andy 👏👏👏

Awesome Andy. Fantastic to see 👍👏💪
Muscle memory is real. 2:39 is very respectable time. That would beat 50+ masters world record as far as I can find.
Great run Andy ❤🎉
Thank you 😁
Flippin awesome! Such balanced form. Well done!
You inspired me to get back out there and race
That was brilliant.
I’d like to see you do the mile again.
