Mad respect to Naughty Dog for removing crunch from their studio. Game devs are super hardworking and talented and it's a shame how over worked they are.
When I hear "speed up development," I think two things: 1. Reduction in quality 2. Overzealous developers abusing saved time to cram more junk into their games. The speed of development should be the result of competence and experience, not technological shortcuts.
Yeah, I'm checked out. The only thing that would pique my interest in naughty dog is druckmann getting fired or let go. Then, immediately replacing him with Amy Hennig as president, as it should of been. That was probably the stupidest thing naughty dog ever did, letting her go.

I absolutely love part 1 and played it multiple times. Part 2 was a chore to get through, it felt like an eternity and the story was kinda meh. They should just leave it like that, part 3 does not need to happen in my opinion.
Unfortunately that isn’t for us to decide. If the bosses want to get rid of humans to write narratives, then they will do that in an instant. Labor is nothing but a line item to them.
If AI can be used to cut back on some of the more tedious parts of game development, then it can be used to free up developers to do the things they're actually passionate about. I didn’t want them to make part two. And to be honest, Part two was a great game. I’d want it to be that Ellie is a side character and it’s like based on London or something, completely different characters and gameplay

Hi, your videos are always so entertaining and informative. I got a question about something else though: What's that cool instrumental hip hop track called that you got playing in the background? :D

the last of us sound track ( music ) in the background , O boy, this music is amazing. make me feels and remember all the suffering and pain in the game . memories....
His talk about AI seems very similar to the talk about emergent gameplay during TLOU 1. The AI seems like a continuation off of pushing for my dynamic fusion between gameplay and storytelling. TLOU Part 2 took it even further than the first game with how varied and "realistic" the NPC behavior was. It all played into the storytelling while being a part of gameplay. This is what I HOPE he is talking about anyways.
That's way too optimistic an interpretation, he literally spoke about AI in the context of _content creation,_ his cited example being motion capture at home and how AI can enhance that, thereby lowering costs. That sounds great and all... until you think about what actually goes into motion capture: it isn't just fancy cameras and silly suits with tracking points on them, it's all of the people employed by the studios too, the stunt coordinators, the line riggers (for those crazy jumps and flips), the specialists who set up all of the hardware, the actors themselves - all potentially replaced by a library of mocap data that an AI can be trained on to generate near infinite variations on. And so what if they reduce the cost of development? Are we going to benefit from that? Are the big publishers like Sony, EA, Ubisoft, etc. going to drop the price of games, or are they going to keep raising it and shoving microtransactions in at the same time?
@@blarghmcblarghson1903 That would be an awful direction for Naughty Dog... The reason their cutsscenes look as good in the first place is because they manually touch them up after Mocap. I also feel like those animations will start to look like Ubisoft with how Robotic and spliced together look. I'm trying to cope and hope for an optimistic possibility because this whole AI in creative fields has been very depressing.
The last clip of the Last of Us Part II documentary was from spring 2023, where Neil Druckman teased having a concept for part 3. This is speculation, but my guess is that Sony had a say in what was and was not allowed to be shown from the footage of the development process and all that jazz. They may have allowed that clip to be used for the end of the documentary because it is in fact the intention of NaughtyDog to pursue a final chapter of the Last of Us one day. I believe it’s probably at least 5-6 years away since they are most likely working on another game right now, but I don’t think it’s an accident for Sony to allow that teaser of sorts to be the last part of the documentary. If there is anything at all about the game right now, it is most certainly still in the earliest stages of pre production while they work on this new game.
Can Naughty Dog make a game without Druckmann sounding like a pretentious d-bag whenever he promotes it. How are they gonna revolutionize gaming ? By just moving the right stick as gameplay?

There are 3 options I would love for Naughty Dog to explore in THEIR way that they make games. 1) I agree, Pirates. 2) WW2, but from the Nazi p.o.v, obviously with a redeeming story but to really deep dive into what it would be like to be an SS Soldat in that time. 3) Similar to the Nazi idea, being a corrupt cop that wants out of a corruption ring (new york/washington, some setting like that).

If SIE allows Naughty Dog to have free rein to do basically whatever they want, why couldn't they make an online multiplayer mode (Factions) without getting pressure from execs to make it a live service game?
I lost respect for him after his response to the negative attention for the TLOU2. Even the fact that he calls it justice. It’s a story about revenge and it’s dull. And the characters are reduced to their darkest traits until there’s nothing left. I legit regret buying and playing that game still.
i know people hate Stellar Blade because haha coomer game etc. but it's the most fun i had in a videogame, in a very long time. why? it's a singleplayer game with very good gameplay, a very decent length with enough exploration to do. but there is more: it now has a boss rush mode, a new game + mode, lots of new outfits that have been added postgame and more content coming. the thing is, all the 60+ outfits you can get in the game, are free. the boss rush mode and new game+ are also free. i think we have normalized post game DLC and costumes costing real money so much, that Stellar Blade feels like a PS2 game in terms of content. it shouldn't feel like a PS2 game, it should feel like a standard that other singleplayer games should try to match at the very least.
When we getting the solo Abby adventure, where she contiues on with her trans sidekick and maybe they take up pup-play and find a colony of post apocalyptic Furries. Or maybe we can get a bigot sandwich origin story.
I would be so pleased if Sony focused on cinematic single player games like God of War and Uncharted and Last of Us. Those are why I like playing videogames. Live service games have such a short lifespan.
I really hope that we get Naughty Dogs next game in 2025. I'm absolutely craving a game that genuinely feels next gen. It seems like they'll only have time for one this generation.
At 6:45 he literally says 'total freedom, I'll never take that for granted' yet a minute earlier come up with that bs statement 'they were pushed into this live service yaya by corporate. Same story as with Rocksteady and all the other big studios that released garbage live service games.
It'll be a sci-fi game! I hope it's dark and constrained, unlike starfield. Maybe just a couple of systems to travel and handful of different planets/ moons or landing biomes. I like the open hub areas. Seems like a happy medium between open world and linear. I think they would nail a game of that manner.
I miss the Jak & Daxter naughty dog :( Uncharted is fun but not my favourite franchise from them TLOU 1 story was phenomenal with decent gameplay, while TLOU 2 story was pure garbage and pretty great gameplay And idk, this gen it feels like Naughty Dog only likes to focus on TLOU.... 2 remasters, for 2 games that are already perfectly playable on PS5, and they canned the multiplayer standalone game... :/ I just want a good game that's NOT TLOU!
Jason Rubin was proud of how smoothly the transition went, and I'm happy it was a great success for all parties involved. However, it's really not the same company, at all. It is much like a child will inherit genes from its parents, but very much has its own identity. When I see the outstanding quality in LoU, I think "yeah, that's Naughty Dog. No compromises. on quality." I want Naughty Dog to carry on. But honestly, it's not Naughty Dog without the exaggerated flair, the unbridled creativity, the punchy art and music, the gameplay rooted in pure, simple fun or challenge. This happened because the ND of this era have started building gameplay around their stories instead of stories around their gameplay. I don't know if they would deny this but it seems evident to me, even from the footage in this video. I think they would be better under Dan Arey, but he left.

I think it would be cool if they worked on crowd density and things like that. But I don't think it should replace the work of an actual human.
