I unironically liked Days Gone, it was a fun ride. The story was good and I had a lot of fun taking out hordes, it did exactly what a game needed to do, kill time and entertain me
I feel somewhat similarly the story and it’s characters were kinda irrelevant but the lore about the zombies established in the game is very deep and quite unique the bike and killing hordes were the only fun parts about the game , the stealth missions are pretty frustrating and even though I’m not a person who cares about graphics much but some shots looked kinda shit and the open world was very repetitive and not that good to explore but the one excellent thing about the open world is the zombie hordes and the fact that this game has one of the most dangerous worlds.
i can, the gameplay was incredibly fun and riding the motorcycle felt really good. game was so good i finished in in only a few days. the horde stuff was incredibly fun, it was like a puzzle, i finished all of them. im baffled by the hate this amazing game gets.
I really enjoyed Days Gone on PS4. I played it early last year. I didn't have any bugs (at least that I remember) in my playthrough. Before playing Days Gone I had played The Last of Us a few months prior. The Last of Us turned out to be my favorite game ever. Days Gone did not hit the same level as The Last of Us, but I did really enjoy the game.
@WhoIsJohnny? Probably because there are lots of good concepts that have mediocre implementation together with nonsensical gameplay mechanics and an unengaging story. People see potential and get disappointed.
Same thing happened to me when I played Days Gone. It's like the game was intentionally constructed to drive people mad, and those who persevered might actually have Stockholm Syndrome.
I haven't even made it through a minute of this video and it already has more substance than 3/4 of the shit that's out there. God I love this channel.
It's pretty amazing how a channel that explicitly is dedicated to a kind of weird gimmick that often shifts their perspective in unusual ways still manages to get across more nuanced and insightful commentary than many more traditional critics. Add to that the fact that the videos are extremely well-made in every way, always entertaining and never too long, and it's no wonder it blew up almost instantly.

Days Gone was a weird one for me cause I went in with very low expectations after getting it for Xmas after pretty much skipping it at release due to what I'd heard about the bugs, and wound up loving it. By some apparent luck I never had any bugs (or at least nothing particularly noticeable) and other than a few obvious issues (Deacon shouting the whole way through regardless of the noise level around him) had a great time
It sounds like they went into the game wanting to force it to be a thrill ride and action packed zombie shooter and instead they got a fairly down to earth wholesome story. It's really weird to watch this video and then watch their Last of Us 2 and Cyberpunk reviews. Their standards are not consistent and all over the place. Downright hypocritical at times. Honestly I bet if the main character of Days Gone was a woman with her wife with some more LGBTQ+ instead of a straight dood acting pretty normal most reviews would be praising it for it's heartfelt story. And that feels weird to even say, but that just feels like where are now. You make a walking simulator like Gone Home and you get praised by critics and influencers. You make a game like Days Gone and you get shit on. But if you look at the actual player reviews for Days Gone on Steam they are quite positive and completely out of step with critic reviews.

I absolutely loved Days Gone. The motorbike was great, and I really enjoyed leveling it up. The massive hordes scared me, and it was thrilling to destroy a horde through a combination of traps. Or better yet, lead a horde into an enemy camp and let them destroy each other! And the music set pieces were brilliant, like when the country music song just plays when you drive along with a near dead Boozer on the back of the bike. Those moments spoke to me. And to many others. For others it seemed those moments meant nothing or were cheesy. I’m not sure why it appealed so much to me and my friends, but it did.
I agree, a lot of days gone was actually quite fun to explore for me, but im a explorer at heart in video games, so i never really have problems with open world games like this, my expectations is that im going to spend hours anyways finding every secret, every upgrade, do every little thing, that i actually found the pacing quite enjoyable since, when i was done with my exploring i just so happened to be right next to my next main quest.
Man, I platinumed this game and this entire review makes complete sense but the only thing I disagree with is the level of bugs. I had maybe 4-5 bugs throughout the entire playthrough. Everything else she was critical on makes sense and even though I would love a Days Gone 2. It makes sense why it wouldn't happen.
I mean we played a free game that already had its bug fixes after its 60 dollar lunch day and I be down to see a sequel for that cliffhanger ending but hey 🤷🏼♂️maybe all y’all feel differently
I fell off after not too many hours with it, and not just with this game but in general it's almost like they magically force games to have bugs. Obviously just because I don't have them no one else does, but like in this case it's just almost unbelievable how many they seem to have had.
Ya, that about sums up my thoughts too. The game is rather scattered in its focus, but I kind of like it’s pacing. Despite being a “desperate survival of the apocalypse” setting, I found it to be rather relaxing.
I finished the game, and my best assessment of it was "I don't hate it." It wasn't great, but decent enough not to annoy me, and I mean that in the best way.

True, its actually one of my favorites too, i just like the open world and the " normal" world of zombie apocalypse, i think its written great and also the gameplay is amazing imo, not every game should have a crazy story plots or something, it could be just like that and still be great.
Game reviews and influencers often have an agenda or strong personal biases. Just look how hard this channel defended Cyberpunk and The Last of Us 2 but shits on Days Gone. Now look how different that is from actual steam reviews from players.
Me watching the gameplay trailer: Wow! That horde mechanic looks awesome! Me playing the game: Hey! @@IvaN-cf7qt You can, it is actually pretty great because the first horde encounter that is playable in the post launch added mode is pretty great. The shitty part is that they add different challenges that are mandatory to beat them, for example a time limit on the horde mission i mentioned.

I thought it was an amazing game
I feel somewhat similarly the story and it’s characters were kinda irrelevant but the lore about the zombies established in the game is very deep and quite unique the bike and killing hordes were the only fun parts about the game , the stealth missions are pretty frustrating and even though I’m not a person who cares about graphics much but some shots looked kinda shit and the open world was very repetitive and not that good to explore but the one excellent thing about the open world is the zombie hordes and the fact that this game has one of the most dangerous worlds.

@@kelvinr2507 i think it was cuz of how the game was written as if it was a novel instead of an actual game
@@qahsper That kind of ironic, because if they cut this technique out it will be more immersive and less being a "game" for me. Fade to black reminds me of the early 2010's video game.

This was pretty much my experience with the game too. I just rented it from Gamefly and ended up playing it for about a month.
Judging by the steam review you had the majority opinion here and shelby and other reviewers/influencers have a fairly weird off the wall take.

I actually enjoyed Days Gone, but i can still agree with the points made here & it was funny, thank you both.

@@deatheven13 totally agree. Can't wait for the plot to thicken some more, and see her ascent/descent. 🤣
@@kauansantos7293 in fairness is it not ok for opposing opinions
Had to come back to this video because of the weird twitter rant complaining about the "woke reviewers" by the director/writer of the game lol.
Don't need to be woke to realize that this garbage is shit.
Anyone remembered when someone in twitch chat said that tlou2 is the same as Days Gone
They're right, because everyone knows that the story of the grief of two selfish women, who eventually learn to stop being selfish and let go of hate is the same as... "Just promise to ride as much as you ride your bike"
@@Br-kc2jy Let go of hate? Bruh, Ellie killed all the innocent people around her and let the actual bad c*nt go at the end. And the Story made it seem that Ellie was the 'bad guy'.

Nah, one game has good survival gameplay and the other one has the same gameplay as the last game in the franchise but with names and a wiggly rope
I find both crappy but this is shitty shitty.

Did…did you just make a Jon Lajoie reference? Holy cow, I haven’t heard from him in YEARS!
JEEZ I didn't even pick up on this; good find. These folks know how to write a damn script.
That brings me back damn
Damn thanks for picking that up! There was also a GI Joe PSA reference.
It’s great because I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s recently had Jon Lajoie music on the brain.
I enjoyed Days Gone until I started playing other games again. It's really hard for me to want to go back and Shelby's view solidified why I don't want to continue it
Have you gotten to the Shakespearian general?
The 30 hours prior is price of admission to his little show.
He's amazeballs.
@@WhitneyHaverstock I literally thought he was an actor pretending to be a colonel!! The way he moves around when he gives his speeches, he’s so theatrical. I’m sticking with that theory 😂
@@bradybunch4278 ooh. I like that! I got the feeling he was kinda a recluse nutter butters, who really came into his own when, impossibly, his dream of biblical apocalypse came true.
Glass houses on all of that.

Hahaha. That is to say. Me neither!
Gross oversight on wacky delightfulness.
I guess I forgive her.
We mustve played different games. This game is absurd fun to me. I jumped straight back in for a NG+ and kept right on going.

Idk how people have bugs like this i never went through any. I guess I’m lucky
Same I don’t get it. My playthrough was smooth and I got it day one on ps4 pro
Yeah even when running on a ps4 that I got the year of release I barely had any bugs so idk how they had so many
You probably did not notice it. I played through av Odyssey day 1 without getting much bugs. But once people said there were a lot, I went back and played it and found a crap ton.
I know. I don't even get bugs in Bethesda games. I guess because I don't try to break the games limits, usually just go where the game wants me to go
I have roundabout 120 hours in this game, and i got like 5 major bugs
I played it when it was free on playstation plus for weeks and i thought it was great and i got the platinum for it
Same
It's a fun game. Not revolutionary or a masterpiece, but a good time for a zombie open world
Same, and the pacing was what made me invested in this actual post-apocalyptic zombie world. But I can totally see where she's coming from, back seating this game is probably awful.
@@Jesus-VII matt thinks the same actually.. like she said.. this game doesnt HAVE ANY pacing cause gameplay and story almost never weave together.
Yep. I got it for free too and stopped after less than an hour. 😐
I must have been the only 1 that enjoyed Days Gone, I bought a standard PS4 + The Last Of Us Remasterd + Days Gone at the start of the pandemic and enjoyed every second (Days Gone does get repetitive)
I love Days Gone and at the same time enjoyed this review 😂
Then that makes you the best kind of gamer! Thanks for watching. Can't wait to make fun of the next thing my boyfriend plays 😇

@@pedroguimaraes6247 dude I'm not influencing much, we're talking about video games ffs. It's a comedy show.
@@GirlfriendReviews looks like you found DaysGone2Frevers YT acct lmao! keep making the videos YOU want to make, the fact that you're starting to attract haters is a sign you're doing things really, really right!
I played this game for a little bit and the part I remembered being a pain was driving around. One of the biggest parts of the game.
What about the driving? You know there is a fast travel feature too?
Shelby is right in a lot of areas, but for me days gone presented a game that was quite unique in its own way and with the positives exceeding the negatives (again my opinion). I enjoyed the story and hord killing the most and would like a sequal eventhough by this point its not looking too great lol
I personally loved this game. It had so much heart
yeah me too i agree! shelby raised great points but at the same time i really had fun playing the game. like the other commentor said i thought it had a lot of heart.
I'm happy to not listening shitty reviews and tried game on my own, it's one of most underrated games ever 🤷
I didn't enjoy this game when I started it, I grew to like it by the end, However, I played it way later after its release and did not have any of the bugs, so was clueless about all the problems people were complaining about.
They literally just played it on PC so I think it’s maybe a PC port problem? I played it when it came out on PS4 and didn’t have bugs like this at all.
Eh, i always feel like legit critical reviews like this should lay off the bugs, because not everybody will encounter those and it distracts from the legit points that effect everyone: it's a boring game with bad writing.
I didn't have much bugs on PS5.
I actually felt the world was threatening early in the game, but then towards mid to late game I felt like I couldn't die even when facing down hordes.
@@MrJagermeister I've been playing it on PC but haven't encountered the bugs that were in the video... so idk
I only play the PC port, the game crash 3 times in all my experience, but i din't see any bug during gameplay, maybe im just lucky :P

Damn, I feel like Im the odd one out, I loved this game,.

Really liked it too. And it never glitches on me.
@@tydendurler9574 political driven agenda? She just didnt enjoy the game, where is the agenda? Cant someone say their own opinion these days without having the brandmark of a certain agenda on them?
I don't know if it's just because of the PC port or what the issue is. But I played Days Gone day 1 on PS4 and the only issue I ever got was a drop in frame-rate when speeding with the motorcycle, which they eventually fixed. I agree that bugs can be great and hilarious, but I never seem to get them, haha.
PC port was very good. Game had most of its issues at launch.
