Dear Gentlemen (you & byOldHand) what a nice hour I spent with you last night... (OOps, that sounded weird). What I mean is I saw this on my TV last night and couldn't comment there so I am doing it now from my computer. Great collaboration You both did what you do best.
    What a treat! Thank you!
    I salute you both!

Initially, it didn't seem like there were that many parts, but when you watch each small part getting restored individually, it really shows just how much work is involved. The wood restoration alone could have been a whole segment by itself. Fantastic work and results from the two of you!

That's not a doorbell. It's a phone bell. The capaciator most likely 1uF is for deviding the AC Power for the bell from the DC Power of the speaking cirquit.
In a lokal battery prupose it has an other function.
Yours seems to be for CB ( Central Battery) use.

Someone deleted their comment calling this a "telephone bell." It's an "Antique House Door Bell Thomson - Houston Unis Constructeur - Paris France." Its a doorbell.

@@SST11B Quite honestly I had no idea if it was a door bell or telephone bell. I just googled Thomson-Houston door bell. 😂 I was skeptical because it looked like it could have been a telephone bell though I was sure it was a door bell. It's an interesting piece.

I watched your short on this project. There was a comment you replied to that you were working on a brass a wood project… well, I assume this was it. Funny, I didn’t read the description like I usually do. But, I knew exactly which shop I was in when the wood working began. Great job, sir. Such a good collaboration. Hope you are well. Be safe.
