It was a well built box, the attention to detail was absolutely off the charts, from restoring old screws, to nickel plating everything for protection, to restoring each and every hole in the box and redrilling each and every one to perfection. Having everything you need at your fingertips, the lathe was a lifesaver, absolutely stunning my friend, well done sir.
I always like it when you guys have everything apart and its sitting out organized on a table, the anticipation of completion of the project is at hand! I know I'm weird but I can't help it.

Fantastic video. I've watched it in bits through a busy week at work, every segment relaxes me so much. When you were dismantling I didn't think there was much hope for the screws and other fixings but you save them too! Bravo and thank you!
Oh this is lovely. We called them chime boxes. Also I have the one that came from me grandparents old house. Its actually sitting in my living room in a glass cabinet. The wood isn't as good as this one. I'm just thankful I thought about taking it while I could. That was 40 years ago.

Attention to detail is second to none and the skills of a master craftsman. The only thing I could recommend is that you try a set of hollow ground screwdrivers like the ones gunsmiths use. On the older screws they are awesome. Great work

That was a capacitor that I'm guessing might be used for isolating the power from the metal parts for shock protection. I'm not sure exactly why it was removed and not replaced.
This has given me the motivation to do my own little project. An old water tank that looks cool. Full of rust but i like the paint on the outside. Not sure how to remove the huge rust deposit while leaving the paint on the outside

That's not a doorbell. It's a phone bell. The capaciator most likely 1uF is for deviding the AC Power for the bell from the DC Power of the speaking cirquit. In a lokal battery prupose it has an other function. Yours seems to be for CB ( Central Battery) use.

I LOVED how you were very sincere to restoring all the parts and even when it comes to creating new parts you were not any short of creativity either, the wood restoration part was so beautiful, the metal parts too, that was some real restoration i have never enjoyed such a mastery, you showed us creativity, skill and so much passion.
