- Masterpiece of craftsmanship: the restoration of an antique fruit press
"Hey, friends! Today, I want to share a very special project with you. Some time ago, I stumbled upon this incredible 120-year-old fruit press on eBay for just €30. It dates back to the year 1900 and was in quite a sorry state, covered in rust. But I knew I could breathe new life into this historic machine.
My first step was carefully disassembling the entire press. Then, I sandblasted all the parts to remove the rust. I used cold-pressed rapeseed oil to season the interior components of the fruit press, including the screw and the container. This process required a temperature of 230 degrees Celsius, and I repeated it a total of five times.
I applied food-safe powder coating to the exterior of the fruit press to ensure it not only looks good but is also safe for use. Unfortunately, the old sieve was severely damaged, so I crafted a new one from copper sheet. I created the design on the computer, printed it out, and adhered it to the copper sheet to accurately cut it out. In total, I had to drill 722 holes into the new sieve, a painstaking task!
Once the holes were drilled and the shape was cut out, I bent the sheet into a cone shape, using a wooden cone I had prepared earlier. Then, I soldered the sieve together and meticulously sanded the surface with fine sandpaper to make it perfectly smooth. The new sieve looks fantastic now!
But that wasn't all. I also sanded all the screws and nickel-plated them to prevent rusting. I sanded the old wooden handle on my lathe and carefully oiled it. To secure the wooden handle, I even manufactured a custom screw on the lathe.
Finally, came the exciting moment of reassembling the fruit press. And the result? It's simply breathtaking! The machine shines like new and works flawlessly. I can't wait to try it out and make fresh fruit juices.
That was my exciting adventure in restoring this 120-year-old fruit press. I hope you enjoyed this journey through time, and if you want to see more projects like this, please subscribe to my channel and leave a like. Thank you for watching, and until next time!"

I hope you enjoyed the video. Here is a brief mention of the project. The powder coating is especially suitable for food. All metal parts were nickel-plated. This means no rust can occur. The sieve was made of copper.
Should have tinned the copper else it will corrode and make acid fruits taste bad and possibly lead to copper poisoning. There is a reason copper cookware is tinned.
🤯👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇺🇲
It turned out very nicely, but one thing is not good, even though it looks really good. The copper sieve is rather unhealthy, as copper will definitely react with the fruit acid in the fruit. A stainless steel sieve would be much better here. Otherwise a clear varnish coating on the copper sieve is necessary. Copper sulphate is poisonous!
this old equipment is 10 times better than a lot juice makers at the market.
Mmmm yes I love copper in my juice
Fr😭
the punching of the 700 holes was so satisfying to me for some reason. Great work as always!
That is very good 😁. Thanks for your comment
I love that blue colour so much, it looks so cool
Das Teil passt jetzt in jede Designer Küche. Ich mag diese alten Geräte. Schönes Video. 👍👍👍👍👍
Why can’t everyone produce simple elegant restorations like this?
Thanks for watching and for your kind words I really appreciate it 👍🙂❤
Wow!! It’s a Italian machine! I’m Italian too. I’m loving it! ❤
A very good Italian machine. She has survived for so many years. greetings from Germany
You are one of the best guys in restoration you get time to replace old staff which can't work instead of trying to force it work
Beautiful restoration, well done, love the color. Very labor intensive restoration, honestly, better than new.
Thank you very much for your comment my friend. I actually put a lot of work into the project, but the result is beautiful 😊
That is such a pretty shade of blue.
Woo.. good job my Friends..like New..
Thanks bro 😊
27 * 27 = 729. The amount of holes you made is almost a squared number.
That part took the longest time I bet. And thanks for the video
Thanks 👍
Beautiful colour.Brilliant restoration 😍
Most beautiful restoration video I have ever seen, congratulations dear brother.
I like your restoration - and the "fruity" colour you have chosen fits very well to the fruit press. Sehr sehenswert!
I wish these practical and interesting tools were still produced today
Sir, over time I have watched large numbers of restoration videos where the metals used are Brass, Bronze or Copper. Yet to date, I have not seen anyone using 'Brazing to join two pieces. Do people simply not use this method any more? You certainly have made an excellent job of this item. Thank you for sharing !
Wow it was amazingly in great condition to begin with for being so old! But u did great at bringing it back to life! I love these videos and can watch them all day!
Stunning work, nice colours.. wish I could find.such old.treasures ❤️👍
Same corkscrew mechanism as my bench cranked hand operated meat grinder. Must be similar era. Amazing what they were able to come up with just using simple mechanically operated parts isn't it. Great work man, liked and subbed.
It's fascinating to see how similar mechanical mechanisms were used in various tools and devices from the same era. The ingenuity of using simple mechanical parts to achieve complex functions is indeed remarkable. Thank you for liking and subscribing! Your support is much appreciated. If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to discuss, feel free to let me know! 😊👍🔧
Perfect job
Thanks 😊
Victorians loved their gadgets. Imagine if they had cell phones back then. That blue powder coat is gorgeous, by the way.
Incredible work. You’re in the elite class of YT restorers (upper 1%). Thank you for sharing your tremendous talents.
Thanks for watching and for your kind words I really appreciate it 👍🙂❤️
Beautiful! I love the color.
pretty sure that copper strainer is going to react to the acid of the fruit, making it taste funny...
Awesome job 👌. Love how your colander part turned out
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked how the colander part turned out. If you have any more comments or questions, feel free to share. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! 👌😊

Lovely restoration job, loving the blue 👍
Gorgeous!!!
I'm glad you find it gorgeous!
Beautiful restoration, we’ll done sir.
That's a lovely colour!
Thanks 😊
Softsoldering the copper mesh....with sour/ acid based fruit juice. I hope the soldering was lead free. In other case, you will recive your daily dose of lead, everytime you make a juice.
Fix that with a hart soldring / welding, with silver welding. They come in strings. Or just bent the copper mesh together. And hammer it into old size. Sort of flaten it out. And yes, if it is lead free, then you are good to go. 🎉 taa daa!
Incredible restoring..loved the colour
That’s a beautiful machine
Thanks 😊
I've just finished watching the "Saw" movies and with that still on my mind, those ending shots hit different man... 😬
Many thanks, me and my son enjoyed the video
Beautiful piece and great restore.
Brilliant. Such a great restoration 👍👍
What a beautiful job thank you, 👍What patience too to drill the multitude of holes in the filtre 🥴.. Presentations of the different video plans very well done.. Presentations of the different video plans very well done.. 😊In the end, what a good fruit juice, a treat🍇🍒🍓
Love the color my son likes this one because it looks like Manchester city blue 💙

@@MWRestoration Hi, many thanks, best regards :)
Beautiful! I'd much prefer to have this juicer rather than what they're making now!
Beautiful Restoration
Them screws was a thing of beauty
Methodical Masterpiece
Way cool restoration! Love it!
Parabéns pelo trabalho 🎉🎉
Obrigado 😊
Excelente restauração!!!😊
Obrigado 😊
This was so good!
If I got serious about juices I'd want one like this over one that was mostly plastic and headed to a landfill after a few years of use.
You are absolutely right. Back then things were built very simply but effectively. Which juicer would survive 120 years today? 🫠
Excellent 👏🏻👏🏻
Very smooth ❤
Thanks 😊
Perfeito! Parabéns.
Obrigado 😊
Brilliance just Brilliance wow
Estou viciado nos seus vídeos.
Seu trabalho é muito bom parabéns

The filter mesh you made out of copper should never be used with anything acidic! It's going to corrode and leave copper in your juice
I like copper juice tho.....
It looks like copper... But is it so?
It could be coated with a lacquer, or if cleaned thoroughly would survive quite some time before breaking down and contaminating
Would be easier if the maker of this channel would reply... Makes me think he is wrong and the ladies comment is right... Eeew unsubscribed
One would imagine that this is just a display piece.
Judging by the considerable amount of time put in to it…
I seriously doubt anyone is going to pay this kind of money for a manual juicer.
If they do… they deserve all the copper they can consume.🤷♂️👍🥃
NICE!!!!!
Thanks 🤩😊
Que trabalho fantastico.
Very good!
I'm from Americana SP Brasil.
The copper sieve and solder should not come into contact with food.
Love to see this model get used. That’s the point of these awesome appliances, right?
The colour of the juice and the texture of the pulp was very Sweeny Todd 😂
Muito bom seu trabalho
Top demais.
DEUS abençoe
Wow cool
I'm glad you think it's cool! 😊👍
Just fyi for those in the U.S.A. who don't know, rapeseed oil is the same as canola oil.
Copper for the filter is a bad idea. Acidic fruits will leach copper which makes everything taste bad and too much will be toxic.
Aluminum or stainless would be better.
También una buena idea galvanizado con nickel
Un travaille d'exception
the tree is very fond of oil, linseed oil exactly. it polymerizes well, which greatly prolongs the life of wooden products. they crack and crack less. and after polymerization, it can also be covered with paints and other things.
Amazing, this is the oldest juicer I have seen. Until now I thought the oldest one was an electric juicer patented in 1937.
I hope you used lead free solder on the screen.
Wow .
Thanks 🤩
Very beautiful restoration. But as an art object. When trying to use it practically, small steel parts and screws will rust, the mesh will also oxidize. Maybe it should have been nickel-plated.
In any case, I am happy to give you a Like.
The symmetrical ending shots could easily be in a Kubrick movie
Awesome ingenuity!!!
Thank you! Ingenuity can lead to some truly amazing and creative solutions. If you have any specific questions or if there's anything else you'd like to discuss, feel free to share, and I'll be happy to assist. 😊🌟🛠️
@@MWRestoration you never disappoint in the ingenuity catagory!
Perfeito !
14:10 Looks like a scene from Dexter 😅
Is the solder for the copper mesh safe? Also don't put anything acidic on the copper mesh!
alguen habla españoool y que buena restauracion me gusta mucho tu contenido
