I busted out laughing when you said it's not like an accountant because I'm a social worker and my husband is an accountant and we say that all the time; people just don't question him.

This is why I have been subscribed to Anna since I started my MSW program. She defends and support Social work and social workers so much it is very encouraging in addition to sharing her real-world experiences through her education and career. Also, how she explained social work income was flawless 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Wow I loved the part where u said you can have a passion for social work but still not make it your life. OK THIS !! I am a senior BSW student & feel like everyone is so involved on campus & in social work events & clubs & I just try to balance school with life since our social work program has been hard for me but I love it over all!! It’s nice to hear that I don’t need to be crossing my work life boundaries in order to be a good social worker 🥺🥹❤️

I think the conversation should be rephrased because people who are young don't understand the money discussion. It's not that you won't make enough money to be rich or upper middle class, it's that you won't make enough to have a comfortable middle class lifestyle, but you still have a lot of student debt. People should understand this before going 5-6 years to university to study difficult research that I doubt you will really use in your job.
People change their mindset and priorities once they mature so your context is everything. Let's say she is married to an accountant and this helps her....but what if you're not married at all or you partner with someone who earns just as low a salary as you? Talk to people who have worked for 10-20 years in the field to have a better image. Money is not a problem now because as a woman you imagine yourself married in the future with an accountant, engineer etc..it becomes a problem when you will need it and have no way to get it.

I understand how isolating it is...I am in an online program. I am a senior and noone in my family nor any of my friends are social workers. So I don't have any one to connect to. And noone understands what and why I am doing what I am doing. I am excited though Ill be finished in April. I am in an accelerated program so I am coming up on my last term before I start my internship. Getting this degree means so much to me, it's been 18 years since I graduated from highschool and I have 3 children and I am a single mother. It hasn't been easy working and doing this I have found myself getting burned out lately, but I'm pushing through to the end. I plan to take this degree as far as I can. I am in the school system now, but i spent 10 years in the medical field and I still have a passion for the medical field. Im excited to see where getting this degree will take me.

Anna Bea, I found your channel when you were starting your journey in the social work program. This was back when I was researching and narrowing down what I wanted to return to school for. I had taken time off of school to have children and raise them with the goal of returning to school when my children were school-age. This August, after an 8-year hiatus, I enrolled and completed my first semester back in college. I am finishing up some pre-requisite courses before I can apply to the BSW program. I just completed the Intro to Social Work course, and the MSA was to write the personal statement that will go towards applying to the program. Hopefully, I will start the program in the fall of 2024.
My goal is to first work in the school system and then work towards working as a mental health therapist.
I am so nervous to start this journey, and, for some reason, feel like this program is going to be critically hard and strict. I am determined to finish and motivated.
I want to say thank you for your videos because they have helped confirm what I want to do. I went to TH-cam to search "What are social workers and what do they do?" Your video came up. I appreciate your channel so much!
