  • The 2020 Toyota Highlander is brand new for this year and there has been a ton of changes. However how good is the base trim level, the L? How does it compare with the higher trim levels and is the Highlander L still a great SUV? Keep watching and find out.

    Got the 2021 L model and let me tell you it’s amazing! This car feels like a XSE model with the features it comes with as a “basic” model. The v6 is great and love the 3 different drive mode eco,normal and sport and they actually do make a difference. Overall don’t regret purchasing this car great for the family we are all comfortable in it. Really recommend and if u can afford the upper trim go for it but honestly the basic L model is more than enough.

    Just like most cars, you can buy a fully loaded slightly used model for less than a brand new low trim level. And it won't be new for long and you're stuck with the cheap version. So buy used and high trim over new and nothing.

    How could the L Trim ride "bumpier' than upper trim? L has higher profile tires, and I suspect, the same springs/shocks as the XLE. EDIT OK, early in the video you said the L rode less smooth, than upper trims, later you said it rode smoother? Which is it?

    They need to bring back the 4 cylinder and pair it with all wheel drive. Transverse V6s and hybrids require more expensive maintenance. A dynamic force 4 cylinder bored out to 2.7 liters will provide 225 HP which is plenty. For the price you might as well upgrade to the 4Runner. If money is tight the RAV4 is better.

      @556suppressor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just curious, why is that ?

    • @ManMak6
      @ManMak6 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dave223 for example, I have a family of 4. Many times we would go camping/skiing or whatever and we take a plus one. So, I’m a regular non-captain seat arrangement I would fit 3 people on the back seat and have the back trunk area for much needed cargo space.
      With the captain seat arrangement this is impossible. You can only fit 2 people in the 2nd row (you lose the 3rd seat) and so you have to have someone sitting in the 3rd row, with this you lose all your cargo space since if you have the 3rd row of seats up, there is only enough space to put a purse of a laptop bag.

    The new Highlander is no longer a SUV but a low head clearance wagon. It no longer has the head room like before. And for entry L FWD, it cost more than the cab Ranger XLT with 4wd. Compare the performance with 2.3 ecoboost engine against Toyota 3.5 engine. Highlander is slow.

      So true, being taller, the lack of headroom and lost front legroom were the main reasons we switched to one of the new competitors. They are far more comfortable and we love our new SUV. We are not wagon people..

    Hello there. When you say you don't get roof rails (10:33), I understand they don't come with the L model. However, does this mean you can't buy them separately and put them on yourself? I am trying to find out. Thanks for your time.

      I'm not sure, most likely. But best to ask your local dealership about it.
