The release of the Fallout TV series reignited debate in the community about how the Great War of 2077 started. After seeing that infamous boardroom meeting in Episode 8, many of us concluded that Vault-tec was responsible for launching the nukes.
But not so fast - because not everything is as it seems. And this rabbit hole goes much deeper than I could’ve imagined.
In this video, we’re going to explore why Vault-tec was not responsible for dropping the bombs and starting the Great War of 2077. We’re going to debunk some of the most widespread theories stating that Vault-tec did it, including that infamous board room scene from the TV show, a particular bomb in Megaton, and much more.

There’s a supposed pre-war ghoul trigger man that mentions companies used to start fake or shoddy building projects in order to receive tax breaks. It could explain why they wouldn’t have been concerned if a vault or two weren’t finished (to play Devil’s advocate)

That's not true of the PLA, though.
Their rank structure is pretty similar across all services, with 3 flag ranks - Shàngjiāng as the most senior, Zhōngjiāng in the middle and Shàojiāng and the least senior flag officer. For their naval forces, that would be prefixed by haijun, but the important part is that the most common translation for "jiang" is "general".
He's called a "captain" in the game.

The reveal of that episode was Vault-Tec's willingness to drop the bombs, not that the did it.
But casuals will believe they did it.They will see the meeting as proof.

The wife was the one who pitched the idea, yet she let her daughter get caught outside when they fell? She would know when the bombs would drop if they were actually responsible, so even casuals with at least 3 PER will notice the detail.

Considering that Barb, as one of the leaders of Vault-tec, said her main motivation was to protect her family (mainly her daughter), which I absolutely believe, it would be strange if they proceeded to launch when her daughter was with Cooper at a (for her) unknown location and out of reach for her.
I always thought The Enclave with the help of Vault-Tec were planning to start the war, so they can wipe out Humanity and start again with their chosen survivors on another planet, but China beat them to it. The Enclave hadn't finished setting things up before the bombs fell. Like finishing all the the vaults, setting up all the Enclave bases, supplying their activities after they were going to set the bombs off ect. Only a fraction of their members were able to get to safety with a fraction of the resources they needed.
I just came to post something similar but you sum it up pretty well. Shocked how little the Enclave is even mentioned.
There are hundreds of vaults. Some incomplete as you mentioned but there are also government vaults hidden from the vault grid with cryo-stasis so I could imagine there are still many functioning Enclave bases on standby. From the time of the bombs up to Fallout 4 there is lots of room for inserting The Enclave into new stories etc. America Rising 2 did a good job of portraying that but it’s non-canon.

I always took it as Vault Tec manipulated certain powers to lead to a Nuclear War, not specifically that they pressed the red button themselves.
I never got the impression Vault Tec launched the nukes, but I did walk away with the impression the helped instigate the events that made it happened.
I believe even if Vault-Tech weren't the ones who shot first, they definitely made sure there were enough bombs and destruction that each and every one of their vaults would be used.

2. You need launch facilities for icbm nukes, which the US goverment would certainly not sell during a crisis era, and vault-tec could not just openly build.
3. The Megaton bomb was of a type dropped by an aircraft, meaning vault-tec would have to have their own strategic bomber wing, plus escort aircraft, hangars, ground crew, and nuke storage sites to make that happen, none of which are seen or mentioned.

@@Gorbz in the fallout world you can find nuclear materials in cars and robots, do you really think that a company able to build 150 something vaults doesn’t have the capabilities to build and fire nukes?
In Vault 111 they said, they were unprepared for the bombs some of the staff didn't show up.
vault 111 was a test vault for cryo pods yet they were already gonna use that tech to save their people which all showed up. Honestly the Vault 111 guys would be too far down the ladder to even be warned ahead of time less the info leaks.
@@NS_Voiceit's likely that 111 was the test for less management of it. Vault tecs ones for their higher ups likely had more management and were better overall while 111 was a kinda "freeze them and see how long they can last without intervention and note any changes or upgrades to the system that are needed.
Tldr: vault tec management was likely planned to have auto responses for keeping the frozen alive and ok but 111 was likely a test to see how what happens long term and how to make it safely long term

This is why I don't think they or any other company did it. No business in the wastes, your company no longer exists and the world doesn't function now....Any company would know that's not profitable. And any reason you had to make profit, is gone....it's destroyed so you can't exactly use it even if ending everything did get you some money.

having a whole world (or city, in House's case) to shape is power and profit in a long run, i think, that, if they can "manage" and "rebuild civilization" the world (my theory: using G.E.C.Ks, leading communities plus gaining power, then profiting with it), oh and erasing "competitors". i guess that's their plan, i mean, no better than the original one (colonize other planets, because well, it sounds even vaguer, also we didn't see much of it)

In the long stretch of time House is not wrong. If every other person on the planet suddenly ceased to exist... guess what? The world now belongs to you, and whoever else survives. But I don't think House meant it. In the meeting he was apprehensive, and in New Vegas he clearly didn't like the idea but thought it was inevitable. It's quite telling that House did not end up in a vault. He wanted to complete his goals of space exploration while the world was still irradiated.
Personally I'm with Tim Cain on this when he spoke about it in his review.
The show adds more context around the nuke dropping, we can see China launching its nukes as a preemptive strike against what was going to happen
I like Tim but he lacks the ability to be critical of Todd and his handling of Fallout.
@@ANGRYWOLVERINE2060-ft2nc Tim being the creator and having the wisdom he does understands that things will change up, as he also stated in his review he gets the frustrations of others as he felt off about the Starwars prequels when they started adding weird stuff that drifted the lore, but lore drift happens with long IPs.
He also while not being apart of the development of Fallout, I'm sure he has some issues here and there but doesn't feel like it's a big enough deal to cry about. Clearly he has no issue with the "ghoul" drug but is rather waiting to see what they do with it as with everything else, it's way too early to to be complaining about stuff in the show when there are only 9 episodes and it's clearly just getting started. Do people expect to know everything about everything in only 1 season? That's stupid lol
Tim's a class act all around. Even Josh Sawyer has the right mind frame. Neither own the IP, so lore changes are out of their hands. When you compare how horribly Disney has treated Star Wars, BGS has done well with FO lore.
That scene when Lucy holds the NCR flag was beautifully done. When the FO3 intro theme kicked in, it got me a bit emotional lol. They treated New Vegas and OG Fallout with total reverence there.

"War. War never changes." is a phrase intended to denote more than what it literally says. It's a phrase that evokes a state of mind. The idea that no matter how you dress it up and paint it fancy colors, the core character of warfare is always the same - humans killing humans over things less important than human life should be under the assumption, usually proven wrong, that the prize will be worth the sacrifice. The sacrifice required is always underestimated, the value of the prize is always overestimated, and the people who did the bad math that made war look so appealing to the masses are never, ever held accountable - the anger that should be directed towards them instead always being channeled towards the very people they were tricked into fighting, ensuring more war in the future.
To this end, it makes more sense for it to be either China or the US. Putting aside one woman's child and House's own schedule, there were over a dozen vaults that were still under construction and not ready for habitation when the great war began. If anyone at that table was going to start the war, they would want to wait until those vaults were constructed to ensure they got all the data they were paying for. Even the Enclave would likewise want all the data. Given the Enclave's control over the US government, it is doubtful that they would allow the Army or whoever to kick off the Great War. This leaves China as the only viable option...almost.
I think it's worth pointing out that Russia is supposed to be neutral in Fallout lore, having been partially invaded by China but in a state of detente with them at the time of the Great War, and neutral with the US since WW2. The switchboard logs show Chinese bombers taking a transpolar route to bomb NYC and Philly. But...was it? That would mean that Russia allowed Chinese planes to cross their airspace and simply sat on their hands and did nothing, watching as China ended the world. That seems VERY unlikely. Thus, we have to consider a few other possibilities. Was it Russia who started the Great War? At first this would make no sense - they are close to China, and any US retaliation would cause collateral damage to Russia, right? Actually, no. Fallout's China has a similar population distribution to IRL China, meaning that nearly its entire population is concentrated on the coast, away from its boarder with Russia. It makes sense that the vast majority of US weapons would be targeted at these population centers. Nuclear Weapons in the Fallout universe have a much smaller blast radius than many IRL nukes, and only caused as much devastation as they did due to the sheer quantity that were used. So it stands to reason that, with Russia being neutral to both parties, they might start the war just to wipe their competitors for world domination off the map. This would cause plenty of collateral damage in Russia, but nowhere near the devastation that the US and China suffered, leaving Russia in a far better position to rebuild and seize power post-war.
There are other options, too. It actually doesn't make a lot of sense for many of the other corporations at the table to kick this off - RobCo especially - but it could make sense for West-Tek. Power armor isn't just good for fighting a war. It's an environmentally sealed system with water recycling and air filtration. There's also construction variants. A post-war America would have a ton of need for power armor for use in non-combat situations. With the US nearing the end of the war in China, West-Tek's gravy train was about to run out. A nuclear exchange, as long as West-Tek survived it, would be very good for their business. This really does not apply for many others at the table, though. Even if we ignore the fact that House wasn't ready, RobCo in particular would not benefit much. Sure they would be able to sell some robots to the domestic market, but post-war, you'd be much smarter to choose power armor over a robot if you can only afford one or the other. There were also ample pre-war sales of domestic robots, so RobCo didn't need the war for that purpose. Also, post-war, RobCo could still sell the military plenty of robots. Someone has to stay behind in China and guard the newly acquired resources after the war is won. Since it's just guard duty, it makes far more sense to stick a fleet of robots on it than continue to commit humans to that job. Even as power armor sales to the Army would drop, robot sales would remain strong or even grow, as humans are rotated out of front line roles in favor of bots. And finally, as we've seen with the iPhone IRL, the Pip-Boy had a MASSIVE potential consumer market that it was never allowed to reach outside the Vaults. Given more time, it could have made RobCo more money than the Mister Handy. House would have to be an utter fool to leave that market untapped, and House was no fool.
Anyhow, a very interesting discussion. I agree that it was most likely China throwing a "hail mary" at the end of a war they were rapidly losing, but there are still other possibilities.

yeah agree to some extend, it was only implied that they would do it, but as we all can see in the show even, that tension were high with the Chinese, it was really reaaly high, so who to say that vault tec is actually innocent but the war started anyway

Even if Vault Tec didn't launch any nukes, they actively attempted to shelve Moldaver's cold fusion research in order to prevent a peaceful resolution to the resource wars. They're monstrous.
I think that vault tec, in a scenario that people started wanting refunds or stopped paying for vaults would've dropped one or two bombs to kickstart the war so they didn't lose money, albeit stupid, but thats what the show set up. I got the hint that they also wanted to sabotage the peace talks with china. I don't know really and I hope season two elaborates more on this. I mainly think that it was only an idea to drop the bombs, not a real action they took.
If they do at some point confirm that vault tec started it, that would be the dumbest writing decision ever. No corporation concerned with money and control would destroy the world to be the last one standing. Would be fit for a Despicable Me movie.
Concerned with money? Maybe not. Concerned with control? Absolutely! With the nukes launched, the vast majority of the survivors would be Vault dwellers. They would be entirely dependent on Vault Tec for their survival and completely at their mercy. At that point, Vault Tec has nearly complete control. Given enough generations, they could even rewrite history to serve their agenda.
There’s countless movies and shows that show corps will go to extreme lengths to come up on top.

Little add on: Realistically vault tec would benefit from the paranoia of nuclear war lasting for as long as possible without an actual nuclear war.

I don’t think the bomb in megaton was actually dropped. The entire city is made of old airplanes parts, and with that type of bomb (if it is anything like it real life Equivalent) would have to have safety plugs removed before dropping to become active. so I find it more likely that it’s a red herring and was the airplane was shot down during transportation.
Considering how they may want this show available in China, I doubt they will show China striking first on screen
Even though China striking first would be the most plausible action. China was losing the war and destroying the United States would be their only way out. Plus, the United States' counter strike would most likely take out its own forces in China (not direct strikes against its own troops but from fallout).
Having china or the USA launch the bombs would also be the most boring scenario… like, oh no cold war turned hot, this is such a new concept!!

As a person who has played the Fallout games since Fallout 1 first came out, I don't care a bit if Bethesda wants to rewrite lore now that they control the franchise. I’d like to point out that there are two big missing time jumps from the first season. The ghoul running away with his daughter when the bomb drops and from the ghoul being the vault tech figure beforehand and then needing money and working a kids birthday party. So even though they had a meeting talking about it, nothing confirms they dropped it.
I agree with this. The show does not suggest it was Vault Tec. They were going to but someone did it before they were ready IMO.

Is Operation Chrome Dome Canon to fallout universe? Chrome Dome was a United States Air Force Cold War-era mission from 1961 to 1968 in which B-52 bomber armed with nukes remained on continuous airborne alert, flying routes that put them in positions to attack targets in the Soviet Union if they were ordered to do so. what if they didn't stop the operation even till 2077? but changed to target china? that would explain the nuke in Megaton and plane wreckage right?

Yeah I largely agree with this, it's heavily implied but it doesn't make made sense if it supposedly lines up with the canon of the games.
I speculate that they got the ball rolling but it escalated a lot faster than they expected, which caught them offguard
it couldnt have caught them off guard if the president was already moved off shore before it happened, They didn't just move him off the east coast no they moved him all the way to the west coast and had time to prepare. So clearly somebody aside from the Chinese knew it was gonna happen and was preparing.

@Big Dan Gaming, i believe you might want to have some strong(er) opposing visuals that indicating a difference between, the starting the 'War', and causing the 'War', for me the first one indicate 'physically firing the first shot/drop the first bomb', opposed with manipulating the 'conditions', with Vault Tec having the potential cold fusion
Honestly... I think the best to just leave it unknown who dropped the bombs. There are so many who have reason to do so, and that is part of the charm. How they all fall in to this madness. Everyone thinking they could win a war, but there are no winners. Making it clear who drop the bomb robs the story of this uncertainty. Make it easier to just declare who is the villain. When it clear that Fallout do not have just one villain. It has multiple. And the question is, are you going to join them too?
It's still unkown really and I don't think any company would actually do it. But as for which country started it, dunno. But I think that's more likely a nation did it instead, thinking they would just kill the enemy but no, they fought back. As you say, no winners.
If you joined the RR you can have dialogue with Tinker Tom he goes on to say the Institute manipulated and started the nuke war with the intentions of wiping out humanity, he then goes on to say the Institute not happy with the outcome has been working on a way to terraform the Common Wealth or world with a toxic aerial poison to finish off humanity or other life. Two things the Institute were mostly focusing on 1. Immortality. 2. Humanoid Synths obiediant to their masters.

I don't know how ending the world and thus your company is meant to be smart. That's my reasoning for them not doing it, no customers in the wastes and the pointless experiment vaults.

My hubby just said, "it could be an Iron Man 1 situation. Stark Industries didn't fire the weapons, but they sold them to the ones that did. This could be the same situation with Vault Tec could have sold them to whomever they did. And the logo would fade over years of weather exposure. "

Why did the war started when the bombs dropped 2077 when there was already a war and when did the War end? Did it start and end on day 1? Who won? What about UK or other countries?
The resource wars predate the Great War. The Great War was the one that ended everything.

In my playthrough of Fallout 4, the yangtze submarine had vaultec lab coats and vaultec suits spawn in there for me
I think they were going to drop nukes first. However, they miscalculated just how far away the countries themselves were from nuking each other. And the bombs fell way sooner than valt-tech planned... explaining why the bombs had their logos and why key people were not protected when the bombs fell. The logos would be on proto-types, not on completed perfected bombs.
Epic Nate has apparently never seen a military aircraft -- they ALL have a symbol like that on the side - it's called a roundel. BTW, Zao is a captain - it even showed that in your video after the 13 minute mark. Traditionally, the person in charge of a naval vessel is called Captain - even if he's a lieutenant. Otherwise, a Navy Captain is equivalent to an Army Colonel.
And thank you for pointing out how bad an idea it would be for Vault Tec to start the war...

There is a very interesting fan made conversation by "Courier's Gambit" here on TH-cam between The Courier and Mr. House about this topic. It also explains House's involvement and perspective in a very lore-friendly way.
I'm sure this will be explained better in Season 2. Vault Tec using their influence to let bad events happen or set them up to happen. So closer we get to nuclear war the more people buy into vaults. Though the line from the show sounds rather definitive. So we just need Season 2 for further explanation.
Regardless of who dropped though (yet I actually prefer Tim Cain's "China did it first, in a surprising benevolent move" angle; that came out first, so that revelation felt more like a whammy to me), dropping them was still a necessary evil that successfully purified the Fallout world from many of its excesses. Wish Coruscant in Star Wars got the same permanent treatment, even via Yuuzhan Vongforming.
Excellent points about Vault-tec not dropping the bombs, but this doesn't mean China definitely dropped the bombs. The China scenario is just as likely as one where some one, a rogue US general perhaps, unilaterally made the first attack and then the US retaliated.
I agree the China attacking first scenario makes the most sense based on the Octum's razor principle, but with out solid evidence it could be a Dr. Strangelove situation.

China striking first would be the most plausible action. China was losing the war and destroying the United States would be their only way out. Plus, the United States' counter strike would most likely take out its own forces in China (not direct strikes against its own troops but from fallout). Of course the spineless people running the show will not go down that path for fear of offending the ChiComs.

Its hinted in Fallout 3 that the Zatans could have started the war but thats only from what I remember as Vault Tech was wanting to have some large scale war but wasnt prepared for when it did happen
This would explain the sizes of the bombs describe by the fallout handbook, and why in the show they where so small compared to the bombs powers described in the handbook.
It's possible, if not terribly probable, that a faction or individual within Vault Tec jumped the gun and caught everyone unawares. They formulated the plan, but Terry in Human Resources punched everyone out early.
The talk in the show is valt tek has the option to do it if other countries does not do it. But they didn't do it in the current lore

The idea that the nukes happened because of the war is ten times better that Vault Tech, because gives it a more horror feeling to the story.
I like to think about the nukes being a delivery system for the FEV virus or variant of, I like to think that ghouls all the way to supermutants were expected quantities and discovered pre war thanks to FEV experimentation.
How would any virus survive the temperature of a couple thousands degrees during the explosion?
It would be nice is Fallout TV Season 2 explains they meant to start The War but somebody else struck first - possibly even after their intelligence indicated that such a meeting was had with no government oversight or inclusion.
They may have at least used chemical weapons which could have caused the ghouls’ creation instead of them just getting radiation poisoning
If Vault Tek had their own nukes (Megaton), then why, in 76, is the overseer taksed with "securing nukes"? Could be to make sure the "competition" does not have nukes. Or, most likely, the Megaton bomb is not Vault Teks.

We definitely havent seen the Vault Tec main branch in any of the games, they must have still be out there making that civilization they wanted just didnt come for the other Vaults except some or something.
I think the Enclave beat them to the punch. The Enclave had spies in just about every major organization and company that they couldn't directly control. My guess is, they learned of Vault-Tec's plans to drop the bombs and pushed the button themselves. After all, we heard in the first episode that the President had already been missing for over a month, and we know that that is because he and the rest of his entourage were on the Poseidon Oil Rig. The Enclave was ready; Vault-Tec was not.
I don't think Bethesda was saying vault tec lunched the nuke directly, if you ask me the tv show made it seem like instead they would use their power and influence to pull some political and economics strings if thats how you wanna put it, tho influence the out come of the war, with the bombs being dropped, so that basically they could turn a profit on investments.
Some dialog in the shows first episode seem to indicate that coop and his wife divorced. There’s a chance he could have custody of the kid and the wife couldn’t control where she was because of that.
Or, Coop had this birthday party gig and went and got his daughter from where Barb had left her (in, like, vault tec daycare or whatever) without Barb's knowledge.
Just like Hank took Rose's children before he destroyed Shady Sands, Cooper did the opposite inadvertently. Took his daughter from safety and brought her where the bombs would be.
Personally I think for the TV series at least, Vault tec definitely launched the nukes first considering the show and games arent necessarily in the same universe. For example how squire Thaddeus turned into a "ghoul" with a mysterious injection and how it somehow makes him regenerate? Or how shady sands and the NCR is completely destroyed in the show but still up and running in the games?
With that in mind I still think the nuke in megaton was made by vault tec, they would have the resources to do so and the motive to see a nuclear war occurs, HOWEVER they didnt necessarily have to be the one to drop the nukes themselves. We have little to no information about the world outside of post-war america so who's to say that vault tec didnt sell some of their nuclear weapons oversees to china? Or maybe one of china's allies?

The only power player who was 100% ready for the Great War was the Enclave (President was already in hiding, Poseiden Energy Rig was fully up and running, etc.).

Hear me out. They DID make the Megaton bomb, and they slightly altered the logo so then nobody could say it was Vault-Tec if ever discovered.

There is no blinding flash and instant kill XRays.
This rules out an aerial explosion, which is the typical delivery. It maximizes the kill ratio.
What we see is the Earth heave upwards, and sweep through the city.
Then the mushroom cloud breaks out and rises upwards.
So the explosions occurred undergroud. Presumably, to make sure there would be survivors.
The simplest explanation, is that the bombs were set off in the vaults.
This doesn't mean that Vault-Tec set them off.
Sabatuers could have set off the reactors in the vaults.
This might be the thing that most bugs me about the discussion about the show. People take one statement, but then jump to an unsupported conclusion.
IMO he might find barb but not necessarily find her. She might be a robot or ai. It’s not fallout like for the vaulttec to have a great fate. Who knows maybe she might had escaped that fate or at least protected her daughter.
Vault Tec could have had plans, and got beat to it by China/U.S. We mau see in season 2, that the big companies were in motion for their forced vault project, but other circumstances kicked off early. This doesn't entirely clear Vaulttec of the nuclear war, as politicians were aware of the vault project, and couldbhave had their vaults finished first, then started nuclear war, before the resr of the projects were finished.
The scary thing is we're entering a fallout timeline right now in real life

I don't buy this argument that Barbara is evil enough to sacrifice millions of lives so that vault-tec can profit but is somehow not evil enough to sacrifice the life of her daughter.
She was pretty obsessed with getting her family into one of the good Vaults. Knowing how Vault-Tec operates, she's likely just a spokesperson and they're holding the keys to one of the good Vaults over her head.
Maybe Coop told his wife he’d never live in a vault. And she was so vile she knew the only way would be if Coop had to bring their daughter to the vault. And the only way to do that was to drop the bombs while their daughter was in his possession.

Till Bethesda says otherwise, the megaton bomb is an American one, as in Fort Constantine ( you can see it at 11:06 ) has a massive nuclear bomb storage where the same bomb as in megaton is present. its also clearly a bomber Nuke so makes sense america would have "dropped" it where it lays now, it fell out of the plane, simple as that, the nuclear war started, the plane got destroyed mid air or crashed, and the bomb now rest on a crater, basicaly a broken arrow incident like 1966 Palomares B-52 crash.
They had planned it and had a bomb or few to start but the war started ahead of schedule hence why 2 vaults wasn’t finished in construction in fallout 4 (spoilers) which is how Hank knew of the location of a nuclear bomb that he used to destroy shady sands because it didn’t get put into action, I’ll add shady sands are the descendants of a vault that did reclamation day over a hundred years beforehand which was part of vault tec plans so Hank derailed their own goals

Maybe Barbara didn't know that her daughter would be at the birthday party. It seemed to me like they split or at least communication broke down, so maybe she thought they would be nearer to a vault.
They did split if you listen when he is at the party in the beginning and the two guys are talking one has a camera he mentions the reason why Walter Goggins character is there is alimony which means he got caught spying on his wife and the divorced before the bombs.

I think they were near a vault. I think that's where he was taking her. I don't think he was trying to "run for the hills", as he was saying before. I think he was trying to get her to a vault. He asked Hank "where is my f*cking family?". Not "where is my wife?".
@@TheJudgementofDog yes all that is accurate but he also wasn't allowed in the vault if seems and the bombs went off before his daughter was in the vault which I'm sure his wife wouldn't have had happen if vault tec was the ones who detonated them as well in the games many vaults had similar happen where vault tec people who were supposed to be there weren't cause they didn't make it in time.
I will be curious how they go on with this. One thing I was thinking was Vault Tec could have fed the info about the FEV to China. So yeah China launched first and Vault Tec had a hand in it.

Do I think they had a direct trigger control? No.
Do I think they had some "influence" on making it happen? Possibly.
Do I think they'd be the kind of company to do things without the knowledge of their own employees, regardless of what kind of table they sit at? Just look at their history throughout the games. They've been more than happy including their own employees in their experiments, often without their knowledge or consent, sacrificing even high-ups when they've finished being useful.
She wasn't stupid enough to put her own daughter in harm's way, but things might have happened without her knowledge, and maybe faster than Vault-Tek expected

I'm at the start of the video so haven't watched it yet. I got the idea that Vault Tec was either thinking about launching nukes or blabbing about it to get the other companies in their pocket. It looks like they definitely had the ability to access and launch nuclear missiles. Hank launched one on Sandy Shores. It seems like Vault Tec was caught off guard when it actually happened. Many people didn't make it to the vaults on time. Cooper Howard's daughter was pretty close to a direct hit. I don't think her mom would have allowed that to happen if she knew it was going to go down that day. I'm not sure though. Buds Buds seems like they all made it but maybe they had been in 31 for months when it happened. Maybe Coopers wife was fired or demoted so she didn't know the date it would happen. Sorry I can't remember her name. Maybe it just looks like they were caught off guard with people not getting to the vaults ahead of time because it would have looked very odd if thousands of people were called to vaults a few days before the launch. Just some of my thoughts that go either way lol
10:27 does China have their own vault-tec knock off since it looks like they themselves know about if the nukes strike on their territory they would have their own vault-tec
