    About 9 years ago I put in the truck light led lights. They were 500 bucks. As someone who works nights they made a world of difference.

    I used the DOT approved version Hellas on mine and they work very well. It appears the cutoff is stronger on my DOT ones than yours. From Stock to Stock Hella was probably 20% better, then I put in Phillips Ultinon LED and it is like driving during the day at night now. My first gen used to have some of the worst lights of any vehicle I drove but now they are the best. I have about 3 years and 30000miles on mine and have only been brighted once so I guess they must not be too harsh.

    Good info to know. Looks much better and I think safer and easier on the eyes at night when you drive the back roads for sure. Another Item for the list. 👍 Thanks for working out the details for us. 👍

    I honestly need to get a new transmission for my 93 D350 lol. My truck uses old plug style. Same as my Toronados / older cars.

    Many years ago I was reading an article in Mopar muscle magazine or mother I’ve got the other matter Mopar muscle or Mopar action anyway this really knowledgeable fella on headlights and lighting in general he said guys want to put real powerful bulbs high watt bulbs in their headlights he said yeah that gets you some more light he goes but more important it’s the optics you’re showing that lens on that hell a headlight which I put those in my old Dodge no I had to modify the backside of my other headlight bucket so that rubber piece would fit through there but you also got a remember the backside of the headlight goes up against the headlight bucket and that’s what keeps it from shaking around when you hit bumps on the road so you can’t remove too much material that was like about a seven hour job when I did that on my truck anyway all the hell a headlight is far far superior to the stock headlight far superior and anyway I also used relays under my hood naturally the headlights turn off and on like they do from the factory they highbeam low beam air but the power coming straight from the battery and I got real nice lights out there and I’ll tell you something else on more than one occasion those headlights help me from hitting deer anyways this is six in a row jim From Kennerdell Pennsylvania

    Excellent, excellent video. I hope to use the H4's in my jeep. Not a fan of the alien style 5x7 sealed beam leds. They just don't fit the 80s vibe.

      My only recommendation after running these for several months now is to seal up the bulb to the housing well. I put a bit of silicone where the bulb goes into the housing because I was having issues with moisture getting in and fogging the bulb up. All good now though!

      @@OvensGarage Thanks for the tip! I'll make a gasket out of some material from mcmaster-carr but silicone is sometimes good enough.

    I got sealed led units for mine and oh man they are so much better and make the truck stand out more at night. Best upgrade tbh. I want to go all leg for the truck but I don't want to have to change to an electronic flasher. Maybe when bulbs start burning out but it works I guess.

      I just ordered all my other leds and flashers. I'll go through the work and video the process when I do it on this truck!

      @@OvensGarage I need to archive all of your videos you honestly have some amazing documentation on how fix these old trucks it's like everyone else is constant cuts barely showing how to fix it or they just throw parts at it over multiple videos. Btw I unclogged my Dana 60 breather hole I honestly didn't know they had them and I was always curious about the pressure they should build up and explains why my input is leaking

    The way the lights angle up to the left, after the cutoff, looks the opposite of what it should be. Is there a chance the new lights are euro spec, with the cutoff ramp to the left for driving in the opposite side of the road?
    Edit: just made it to the end and saw the final result. They ramp to the right like they're supposed to lol. The first comment came from when you were first comparing the brighter driver side with the standard passenger side. What an incredible difference!!!

    • @OvensGarage
      @OvensGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I thought at first too the odd angle as both headlights are the same but it must be the design that they are supposed to be. They do make an incredible difference. I haven't done a ton of night driving yet as we have longer daylight right now but I haven't had anybody flash me yet

    Does your truck have the daytime running light module? I did the same mod but notice they flicker if there not fully on all the time. I also did a harness for them . Wonder if you had and ideas beside leaving the module unplugged? Thanks for the great video!!

    Do they have built in relays, or do you plan on installing an aftermarket one later on?

    • @OvensGarage
      @OvensGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't need relays as they draw much less amperage through the headlight circuit. That's the beauty part of it.
