Lyft removes Lux from the Platform | Part of the Journey

- As of Oct 18th, Lyft will be removing Lux from the platform and replacing it with a "new" ride type, Extra Comfort. Not sure why they are doing this but for me, it will cause me to lose earnings as Lux is a part of my better paying ride types.

Disappointing. 50% of my income comes from Lux. My vehicle will only qualify for Lyft regular now. Ppl always request Lux in my market. Especially evenings and all day from Wednesday-Sunday. So this is a big loss for me. I’ll have to upgrade and switch vehicles because I can’t survive on JUST Lyft regular, unfortunately. I’m sick to my stomach. But I will adjust. Boss, it sucks!!! They do these changes knowing drivers will once again make the sacrifice to keep driving. It's not fair but it happens all the time. Good Luck!
What year and car you drive?
How can you have a qualifying lux vehicle now and that vehicle doesn't qualify for extra comfort? Lyft is downgrading the catagory by allowing many more vehicles into the extra comfort catagory.
@@shape5685 bcuz extra comfort is a down grade. It’s not an upgrade from Lux….also, the majority of the “extra comfort” cars are EV or hybrid cars. They have yet to say what the pricing will be for passengers or drivers, but I can almost guarantee you it’s going to be a lot less than Lux. Which means drivers get substantially less.
Same thing is happened to me ! I have 2016 tesla midel s but i can only do regular lyft but honda accord and toyota camry can be used under extra comfort ! That sucks.They ruled our life.Terrible company.
Lyft extra comfort is their version of Uber's comfort. They will pay drivers similarly which is around $1.00/mile while a passenger is present. I reject the majority of Uber comfort rides B/C they don't pay enough as I consider $1.00/mile minimum pay for all miles. A 13 mile comfort ride, 3 dead head and 10 loaded, is only going to pay around $10.00 and that is not enough. I would often cancel Uber rides that I was on my way to pick up because a Lyft Lux ride, which paid so much better would appear. Lyfft Lux allowed Lyft to steal business from Uber and now Lyft just shoots themselves in the foot.
I dont disagree here, Lyft seems to want to copy Uber all the time instead of standing on its own.

Lyft extra comfort is bullshit in my region. I have an Infiniti Q70L that is a Lyft lux and makes me very good money if I’m going to be downgraded into a new category of Lyft comfort it’s going to reduce the amount of money that I’m going to earn significantly compared to the hours that I’ve been driving.
Last week I gave 86 rides all Lux rides at over $1600 for less than 40 hours of work
I don’t even have extra comfort. I just have Lyft and lux black. And I am not riding people that ride regular rides. They are rude and disrespectful.

I found out that some lux ride aren’t really lux ride. They are scheduled ride that people book but no drivers pick so they ended up switch it to lux to incentive drivers to take them. We all know that Lyft take 60-90 percent of the fare on the schedule ride and then put them on the pool like regular ride when driver doesn’t take them. That’s why I don’t work for Lyft unless they have streak or challenge. At least Uber is transparent when it come to reservations ride and mostly keep the price but even then it will still say reservations so you know if you’re not getting at least 20 bucks not to take it
Agreed here with this as some rides don't get picked up but for drivers, we still get the higher pay when they upgrade the ride. That's where we are going to feel the difference, in the pay outs because this "extra comfort" will be much lower than lux!

Extra comfort is about the year of the car, not make and model. To qualify for Extra comfort, you need a newer car and be an experienced driver.
They will know what a big mistake this decision is. The company is going bankrupt.

Lyft said starting October Tesla model x 2017 is not under Lux or comfort anymore. It’s under Lyft ordinary ride.

Hi you guys are lucky in your area but but in Edmonton Alberta Canada Lyft sucks they don’t pay drivers enough like Uber especially long trips they underpay 10 -15 dollars less than Uber .
Uber and Lyft wont let the drivers make money, I went get a Tesla ( I drive in Cincinnati Ohio ) and after adding the Tesla to my account I went to look at the vehicle preferences and only have Uber Comfort and Uber X, no Uber Green, Uber Comfort electric or Uber Premium
That must be a glitch. That’s impossible. The model 3 qualifies for all those.

Cause Cincinnati doesn’t have those options. I just plotted a ride on my passenger app. All they have is X, Comfort, XL, and black.

Lyft Lux goes off all day and night in chicago. Good thing I left Lux though. Toyota qualify qualifies for EXTRA COMFORT

looks like reg rate is .71 and new premium rate is .85 vs 2.29 what it used to be. lyft just wants everyone to drive priuses while they take lux profits with desperate riders needing to get some where and willing to pay premium prices.
